"The heart and soul are closely linked. Your heart reveals what is most precious to you."
She tucked her chin down into her chest as another gust of bitter cold wind cut through her short fur and to her skin. The pads of her paws were almost numb from the coldness of the ground and the pokey feeling of leaves under her light steps. The day was not going as good as she'd had hoped. Having woken up that morning by a rude awakening of the scent of something foul that irritated her senses that wouldn't allow her to return to sleep. She tucked her head away from the direction of the wind as she felt the next burst of icy breath leave her lungs making it hard to breath. She needed to get out of the cold as soon as possible. She was not a Leaf-Bare feline and hated the cold but it wasn't just that but in fact that she had a terrible time with catching prey recently. Her body was trying to work over drive in trying to keep herself warm without the proper fuel of food in her belly. Being a loner wasn't new to her but it still sucked regardless.
A small relieved sigh escaped her whenever she came below a tree that helped block out the chilly wind and in the shadows from the sun above did nothing to warm her. Gaia set herself down against the tree she hid behind and sighed as she tucked herself under the fallen golden, brown, and orange leaves from the trees above. She blended in perfectly with her black and ginger fur. Her pale green eyes slowly closed hoping to get another few minutes of rest but the shifting of the wind not only blew the leaves that gave her some sort of cover but on top of that brought the scent of feline towards her. Eyes flashed opened and began darting around to look at the scenery that seemed to peaceful. She forced her stiff from the cold body to move; rising from her pile of leaves she moments before having been hiding under and turned to look up the tree. Most of the leaves where already gone but there wasn't much else she could do besides climb that tree. It was better than trying to hide under a pile of leaves when cats are nearby.
Generally, she would not mind other cats but with how tired, hungry, and cranky she was recently due to the affects of the cold weather she was in no mood to play games of friendly chit chat and cat and mouse so instead she unsheathed her claws and sank them into the tree. Effortlessly, she climbed up the tree to the lowest branch that would be high enough not to be detected unless they where looking and curled herself against the base; staring down at the ground below to see the movement of whatever figure or figures would come below her. She hadn't been as careful as she usually was so she wondered if there were other cats around that had picked up her scent and were searching for her? She had scented others around but she did not know which was which when it came to the cats of this area.
"Naturally, with my luck they would just look up here and find me." she mumbled under her breath as she keenly looked down below her for the others that approached.
