The diminutive tomcat shifted uncomfortably, awaking wearily from a nap he'd decided to slip in. Harepaw's wood-umber iridescent vision averted between a few slumbering apprentices. He dubiously arose, extending all four appendages in a stretch. The infinitesimal tomcat was ravishing, exiting confidently from the Apprentice's den. He had been bewildered about what was currently going on, watching as warriors entered and exited camp. The young feline observed a hunting patrol coming back with minimal prey, seeming as it was becoming more scarce as Leafbare was catching up to Leaf-fall. The cold was unpleasant.
Harepaw accumulated his thoughts, foundations ascending toward the Elders' Den in hopes to listen to a story. The feline hoped that he wasn't going to be lectured or have a story he's already listened to. The cocoa-beige Manx sauntered in an opposing direction, abruptly disinterested from visiting the Elders. The reasoning being, he wasn't prepared for any lectures or already heard stories, as that would quickly bore him. Harepaw commiserated, a frown crossing his countenance as he bounded absentmindedly around camp. The tom had a pep in his step, skipping around the campsite before an idea slipped into his mind.
Harepaw simpered, slipping toward the exit of camp when everyone had been doing their own thing. As soon as no one was paying attention, the young apprentice disappeared from the scene. As he trekked out of camp, a single golden leaf pirouetted down an invisible spiral of breeze, spinning through the air as it let itself be carried down. It shook slightly, as if it could have been whisked away any second by the grip of an frigid wind, but it kept floating down the twirling course. It blew past his face and landed lightly on the ground, the shiny, vibrant color standing out against the umber and bronzes beneath it. It was so delicate, he wanted to reach down and pick it up and hold it close to his heart, smoothing out any creases, but something told him that it belonged there, this corpse of what was once summer.
Harepaw trotted through skeletal trees, their branches so bare that he could have counted the leaves on each and every one as he passed by. The trees were skirted by pools of autumn gold and rust-colored leaves. When the wind blew the pools animated. Leaves took to the air in an elegant dance, pirouetting around the tree trunks to their own orchestral rustling. When the wind calmed, the dance ended and the leaves landed to form new pools that looked identical to the ones they were in before they started to frolic. Harepaw stepped upon a crisped leaf, listening to the brittle life crackling beneath his foundations. Such a pretty season, yet so sad and cold.
The tom found himself standing before water, at the shore of the Sparking Brook. Harepaw exhaled sheepishly, being a feline who struggled to swim. Harepaw was curious about fishing, though, he hadn't scrutinized any scaly creatures just yet. Harepaw extended his right frontal digit, dipping his toes into the numbing crystalline liquid. He shuddered, huffing through his nostrils. "That is not very warm," He cocked a nonexistent brow, pelage bristling, "How do cats even swim?!" He inquired in a caustic demeanor. He dallied a bit closer, placing both his paws in the shallow water, lowering his crown as his disambiguation lolled from his mandibles. The tomcat began lapping up the water hastily. He felt refreshed, picking his crania upright.
"I wonder...do cats need to learn to swim in order to hunt fish?" He questioned, wishing his mentor was around the answer the inquiry, "Or could I just stand here and hope I get one with my mouth or paws...?" Harepaw plopped down amongst his haunches, curious as to whether or not he could attempt to bring in a fish for the fresh kill pile.

GRAYPAW Treeclan Apprentice " Well," A soft voice would echo softly from behind Harepaw." I'm no expert on fishing but I don't think, a fish will just jump into your mouth, or paws for that matter. I think you have to work for it..." These words were blunt of course and straight to the point but held nothing but a simple observation to them. Soft paw stepped forward, angling the cat who had spoken into Harepaw's view. The young apprentice, known as Graypaw, could only smile at the tom, her eyes beaming with the soft edge of humor that her own words had held before. The truth of the matter, was that Graypaw hadn't been too busy today. She had finished her apprentice's duties fairly quick and had even volunteered to go on a hunting patrol to add something to her day. Though prey was getting even scarce due to the changing seasons, she had managed a add a small squirrel to the overall small kill pile. Something she was sure, while small, would benefit an elder or a queen who was in need of its nourishment. With that done, she had taken a small mouse from her own meal and had dispatched her meal with a quick and hungry pace that was even an unusual pace for herself. She hadn't thought much about it of course. The entire clan would most likely be feeling the effects of leaf bare as it would dawn around the corner, so every energy of her strength was to be dedicated to providing her clan with everything it needed to survive. Even if it meant she wouldn't eat as much, so be it. Still with most of her effects having been put towards hunting, she had decided to visit the sparking brook to grab a drink to replenish some of her palette. As she ventured out of camp, her mind shifted from the possible concerns to come for her clan and towards the possibility of becoming a warrior. It was just in the reach of her paws, and yet it scared her at the same time. There was so much she had to work for her and Pumastar, was there to help her overcome everything, but it still didn't help the fact that she felt she still wasn't leaving up to his expectations. Like, she still wasn't worthy of him as a mentor. A sigh fell from her maw then, one that sounded more frustrated than anything else. Yet she pushed these thoughts from her mind and was just rounding the corner when she took notice of another near the stream. Her ears perked, taking in his words carefully. Her eyes trailing over his pelt from behind, looking for a trace of familiarity to her. There was none. Still, it didn't stop her from approaching and talking to him. The smile lingered on her lips as she moved to settle besides him by the water's edge, her eyes moving from the water, only to pull back up to his after a moment. She held her breath briefly before, " I'm sorry that was rude of me, I didn't mean to interrupt you if I did...I've seen you around camp, but have never introduced myself, my name is Graypaw, what's your name?" She realized she was being a little forward. She didn't know him at all and was assuming he would talk to her, but at least it was a better choice than listening to her own self doubts. Right? Right. "Speaking."

Harepaw shot from his haunches, pelage bristling, hoisting himself up violently as he whipped around to see who had spoken to him. The tom hadn't been entirely familiar with everyone in the clan, but he hadn't recognized the mademoiselle as Graypaw, Pumastar's apprentice. He swallowed thickly, narrowing his umber luminaries whimsically as he scrutinized the opposing apprentice. A small smile crossed his countenance, lowering his crania as his numb for a tail raised. He chuckled softly, "You scared me, it's not nice to sneak up on others!" He teased, vocalizations playful. Harepaw enjoyed messing with others, his stance as if he was prepared to attack the opposing cat.
He raised himself up completely, position shifting to one of confidence, his chest somewhat puffed out. "I haven't spoken to you at all, I don't think," He glimpsed upright, visionaries narrowing in thought, "Yeah...nope!" He flashed a cheeky grin with lasted for a mere few seconds. Harepaw shifted back amongst his haunches, right before the shore of the water. He kept a minuscule smile of joy upon his facade, eyes wide with curiosity. The tom's gaze was deep-set, expressive of emotion, the color of cherry wood with swirls of walnut throughout his almond hues. His visionaries expressed so much without the rest of his countenance making any expression. He was full of emotion, one could tell.
Harepaw exhaled softly, "Also, I wasn't quite expecting the fish to come to me, I knew I have to do some type of work for the prey." He grumbled sheepishly, glimpsing away for a moment as he gazed into the shallow water. The tom averted his luminaries back to Graypaw, cocking a nonexistant brow, "What're you doing out here anyway?" He inquired, his visionaries quickly narrowing. It seemed Harepaw's expression kept shifting, as if he couldn't keep one expression there. Certainly, expressive, huh?
The diminutive tomcat listened as the opposing feline spoke once more, listening carefully to what she had been saying. It wasn't unusual for Harepaw to direct his focus elsewhere, his attempt to remain focused on Graypaw was successful. For now, or maybe it'll be spontaneous. There was no way to tell with Harepaw, as his determination to find out more about everything was wild. He hadn't really ever stopped to think twice, whether the decision was terrible or not. The tom went with the flow in life, not thinking much on his future. Harepaw hated the restriction of rules, as he enjoyed twisting and bending them, but not too often. For the most part, Harepaw was a pretty decent cat.
There are few times when Harepaw causes trouble, as he wishes to be at least somewhat respected and seen as reliable. "A pleasure to meet you, Graypaw," He smiled warmly, "Also, you didn't really interrupt me or anything. I was just being curious." He huffed, shaking his crania. The tom was slightly embarrassed, but quickly picked his head up. "My name is Harepaw! It might be because of my nub of a tail...but I honestly don't know." He chuckled, his grin rather toothy. The grin faded after a few moments, wondering what was going to happen next. \
He scrutinized the mademoiselle for a couple seconds, his stare as if he was staring right through her. Maybe he was an eccentric cat...that was for others to judge, of course. His energy would burst, almost as if he was hyperactive, but that was just his aura he had. Being in the presence of Harepaw usually brought smiles to others faces, but he wasn't sure why. "I have a lot to learn," He suddenly uttered, glimpsing away for a moment, "I was just made an apprentice not long ago. Only recently. I don't believe you were apprenticed with me, so you're probably older, huh? More experienced!" He chirped.

GRAYPAW Treeclan Apprentice Graypaw had the grace to look embarrassed even just a tad bit surprised when the tom nearly jumped out of his pelt when she spoke up too him. But with the small surge or concern lacing through her for him, she couldn't help but feel just a tad bit amused at his antics as well. It wasn't every day you got to see another cat, jump five or so feet into the air, like a shocked rabbit. It amused her greatly, and that in itself was enough for her to keep to herself. When sea green eyes met a pair of amber, a moment later, the bengal apprentice felt herself flinch a bit under that narrowed glaze but a quick blink was enough to settle down any type of hostilities from the other cat. He had seemed to have gone immediately into a threat posture, Graypaw, had mused to herself silently, almost as if he been expecting to be attacked. The shifting of his body posture only proved her point but when he shifted to a more relaxing state, Graypaw found the smile, that had dimmed around the edges, make a full recovery against her own maw. She hadn't meant to startle him that much and when he noted it wasn't nice to scare people, the molly he could only smile wider and offer an apologetic laugh in return. " I'm sorry about that again," She mewed with a simple twitch of her whiskers and a dancing hem of her eyes, " I hadn't realized you had been in such a deep train of thought, I'm really sorry about that," Her tone, much like his was laced with a small edging of teasing. She found herself falling silent after speaking these words, hers twitching soundly as he spoke and asked her questions. She shrugged at the one in particular about while she was out here and looked at him sheepishly before dropping her eyes to the water at their paws, " I honestly just came out here to get a drink, but after doing all of my duties, I guess I was a little bored too.." It was the truth for the matter. Water had seemed like a good idea at the time, and venturing up here, had given her some time to herself. Who knew she was going to run into someone up here and especially at this time of day. Her eyes were drawn back up to the tom - Harepaw, as he called himself, after his introduction and she nodded her head at the small greeting. Harepaw, seemed like a nice tom, younger than her, if she had to guess and he certainly seemed curious about everything around him. Was he perhaps just made an apprentice? The question answered itself almost as fast as Graypaw's mind as asked it and she blinked her sea green eyes at him in slight surprise. " It's nice to meet you also, Harepaw and it's no surprise, you do look younger than me," She teased lightly before reaching over to flick her tail over his flank in a gentle soothing gesture of comfort. She knew exactly how he was feeling. It wasn't easy to be an apprentice and even now, at her slightly older age, she was still finding it hard to deal with things that came her way. So she could easily sympathize with him. " Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get the hang of things, it takes time. I'm still learning myself so...I completely understand" She wasn't so sure she was experienced as he was, but he didn't have to know that.
