Beauty is a joy that forever increases
It will never pass into nothingness
It will never pass into nothingness
The amber eyes twinkled with interest as they scanned the figures among the camp sight. Watching as warriors padded back and forth. Some returning from patrol and others returning with prey from a successful hunt and apprentices chattering among themselves. His gaze was only searching for one apprentice though in particular. Smudgenose's whiskers twitched in amusement as he remembered not too long ago how he's reacted whenever his name was called to come up to claim a newly named apprentice. Smudgenose wasn't disliked but he was called annoying on the best of days. He was always excited, wanting to talk up a storm, tell wild imaginative stories that may or may not have been true. So he was surprised but enlightened whenever he finally touched noses with the overly fluffy apprentice Mottlepaw. He adored the younger generation of the clan and loved to tell stories to them so to have one attached to him for some moons to come and be under his responsibility made him happy. Humming to himself as he searched out the golden tabby that would be a fixture in his life for a while yet. Once he saw her finally emerge he stood to his paws; tail waving in the air as a signal for her to come over to him.
"Good morning sleeping beauty! It took you long enough! But I don't blame you, it's rather cold out here ain't it? I wouldn't want to leave my nest either with all this Leaf-Fall weather! Ready for a day of training? It'll be exciting I'm sure even with this cold weather!" he smiled down at the stocky little thing.
He was planning on taking her out for a patrol of the territory today so that she could get the run of the land. It would be a good time to get to know her better during her training. Smudgenose wanted to make a good impression on the younger feline but a part of him; the insecure side he hid worried that he'd come off too strong for her and scare her away. Or annoy her to death with how he acted so excited.
Bending down to her level he peered down into her dark green eyes and gave her a welcoming smile. "I was thinking that we could go check out the territory first. Get the lay of the land before we start on the hunting part of the training; how does that sound?" he grinned before standing back to his full height and flicked his tail for her to follow.
He set a bouncing pace as he let the young apprentice towards the Hidden Thicket where most of the training would be held. He'd teach her the paths that he'd grown up trekking through these parts and tell her all about his stories that he grew up with. Right now though, he'd settle with showing her the best parts of the land.
"The Hidden Thicket is the place where apprentices go to get trained. We will stop there first since that's where you'll be training most of your days with me. It's an important place and well hidden so that the young won't get snatched up by a hawk or something! I remember when I was training when I was younger. My poor mentor sure had a pawful!" he laughed at the memory of the smaller version of the jokester that he is.
"What are you looking forward to during your training Mottlepaw?" he asked glancing down
