Requirements: - User's account must be at least 30 days old at the close of these auditions.
- User's account must have at least 30 posts to qualify for consideration at audition close.
- Your cat must be willing to wait to become apprenticed! Dandelion will be training under Kindle for a time, before realizing it's not for her.
- I would love an interaction between your candidate and Kindleflare, to understand their dynamic, but it's not necessary. If you want to thread, tag me in a thread <3
- Finally, fill out the form below~
Character's Name: The name of your lovely cat Age: A Warrior becoming a med cat is perfectly acceptable too! Gender: What does your cat consider themselves? What characteristics do they possess that will help them in their role? [ul type="circle"][li]Just give me a couple characteristics [/li][li]Maybe with some explanations on the characteristics [/li][li]That you think will make your character a good medicine cat [/li][/ul]What characteristics do they possess that will hinder them in their role? [ul type="circle"][li]Same as the one above [/li][li]But some of their 'weaknesses' [/li][li]Traits that might cause some inner turmoil at a later date[/li][/ul] How would you describe your activity? High ranks must participate in one thread per month, with minimum five posts in that thread. Do you think you can uphold this? (You can always feel free to tag me in that thread, and I will help out as best I can) Account 30-day mark: When does your account become 30 days old? Anything else? Do you have anything to add? Either about your character, or mini plots for Kindleflare?
Auditions will close when I've had a few applications to look over or if someone jumps out at me. Please note Kindle is still a little broken up about Tigereye, so being her apprentice may not always be easy. It may take some patience, especially considering she's not the most confident cats. I look forward to stepping through this adventure with you <3

Character's Name: Thistletongue Age: 24 moons Gender: female What characteristics do they possess that will help them in their role?- Quick-witted: Thistletongue is not one to get flustered over a situation. If something happens, she usually has an answer for what to do. She also makes for great conversation as she always has an answer, and sometimes it can be a rather snarky one.
- Loyal to life: Over her years, Thistletongue has learned that her clan is not the only clan with lives in it. By speaking with cats from other clans and even the Tribe, Thistletongue realized that the only difference between them and her is their scent and their culture. While she once would have left a dying warrior from another clan if she had happened upon them, she now instead would help them in whatever way she could. She understands now that each life is connected to other lives and has so much more meaning than simply on the outside.
- A scholar at heart: Thistletongue is always on the hunt for knowledge. Every day she tries to learn something new. If she had the role of MCA, she would be ecstatic about doing a complete 180 and learning everything that is known about medicine. This also means that she would constantly be trying new things to become a better medicine cat and expanding upon the knowledge that both she and Kindleflare have.
What characteristics do they possess that will hinder them in their role?- Brutally honest: While honesty is not necessarily a bad thing, Thistletongue doesn't seem to know anything about "sugarcoating." If something bad is going to happen, she will tell you. If she sees no hope, she will tell you. She has no ill will with this, but she sees no point in lying. This brutal honesty also means she tends to look with disdain at those who lie to her and to the clan. She believes in the pursuit of truth and wants to hold onto it.
- Extremely self-critical: Thistletongue holds herself to a very high standard. No one notices her failures more than herself. She wants to be everything the clan needs, but she forgets that she is just one cat. She struggles to celebrate her accomplishments because of this, instead just believing she has more work to be done.
- Set in her ways: Thistletongue has spent her entire life living by the warrior code. She does not sympathize with those who do not follow it. This can make her be rather unpleasant to those who she finds not adhering to the code.
How would you describe your activity? I have Emberlight, and I'm gonna be honest, I can struggle a lot with his activity sometimes. However, I manage to get his posts done just about every month (no strikes yet, and I had personal issues in August) on top of posting with other cats. Account 30-day mark: Two years ago haha Anything else? Thistletongue does have some pretty long claws, so that could potentially hinder or help her role as MCA. She has learned to be efficient with them as a warrior, but as MCA this would take on a whole new meaning.

Character's Name: Briarpaw Age: 17 moons Gender: She-cat What characteristics do they possess that will help them in their role?- Confident & Tenacious: Briarpaw is a highly confident cat who is very sure of herself and her decisions. She rarely has moments where she stumbles or backtracks, and tends to stick with a direction once she’s set her paws on it, if you will. I imagine this would come in handy with the day-to-day experiences of a medicine cat very well! It’s not easy to tell warriors twice or three times your age that they have to listen to you, but Briarpaw is very persistent and, in her own words, “always gets her way in the end”. Forcing a stubborn sickly or injured cat to stay put or listen to her orders wouldn’t be a problem for her. Additionally, when uncertainty strikes, cats will often look to their medicine cat for guidance. Briarpaw’s certainty would likely be reassuring for most cats! And when it comes to interpreting signs from StarClan, she would try her best to tell her Clan what she knows, instead of what she thinks, and offer a path to move forward from there. Her ability to command attention and take charge would be valuable assets in her potential new role, and she would definitely flourish with a more significant role in her Clan.
- Witty & Creative: These traits often lend itself best to the social side of her personality, but I imagine it will come into play with her medicine cat duties as well. Briarpaw is a highly witty character, relishing debate and communication, and I believe this would potentially help with interpreting signs/omens/prophecies from StarClan. Along the same lines, her creativity allows her to think outside the box, and come up with ideas that others might not right off the bat. This would also likely come in handy with the healing side of her role. Every medicine cat has had a few difficult patients, and Briarpaw would be more than capable of coming up with creative ways to listen, or creative ways to toy with the herbs (adding flavor like lavender nectar to help with the taste, for example) to help cats take their medicine without complaint. Aside from all this, she would probably make it her goal to bring her wit and charm to lighten Kindleflare’s life.
- Curious & Passionate: Briarpaw makes a great apprentice, simply from the fact she’s endlessly curious, and genuinely keen to learn new things. Once she has found something she enjoys doing, she brings an irresistible passion to her work. Despite the fact her passion can sometimes cause others to find her annoying, it is always a productive sort of passion, and it’s hard to look at her pride and passion and not have an affection for it.
What characteristics do they possess that will hinder them in their role?- Vain & Dramatic: Briarpaw loves to make a scene, and she loves to be the center of attention. Though she has definitely matured since she was younger, she still loves to be dramatic, and always knows any and all gossip within the Clan. She’s quite nosy in this way, and despite a medicine cat’s role being to StarClan, she will try to involve herself in her Clanmates’ business anyway. This can be distracting for her, and she’ll probably need to be dragged away from gossiping apprentices and warriors a lot before she learns to avoid it. She’s also quite vain, and has no problem talking about how much better she is than others. However funny and charming she finds it, it’s not always as funny or charming to others.
- Competitive & Jealous: Deep down, Briarpaw is driven by competition and jealousy, and having the competition with fellow warrior apprentices removed from her life will take a toll on her. For awhile, it would still exist for her, and she would watch mutinously as apprentices younger than her are made warriors before she has earned her full name as a medicine cat. In her head, she still sees herself as being in competition with them, and would be jealous of them earning their full names before her. On top of that, she would be jealous of most queens in general, since they are privileged to a life she can never take part in.
- Careless: When Briarpaw is careless, it’s usually referring to her acting out and not caring about the consequences. Briarpaw will inevitably do the wrong thing at some point (or many points), she will be dramatic or tetchy, and she will need disciplining, and she will be unapologetic because she does not care about the consequences of her actions. Not only that, but when she’s not feeling mentally stimulated, she’ll lose interest in her tasks and won’t be nearly as precise as she ought to be. Such a trait will require discipline, since a medicine cat obviously can’t afford to be careless.
- Questioning: Briarpaw’s biggest hindrance to the role would undoubtedly be that she openly questions both StarClan and the warrior code. Though she believes in StarClan, she finds it difficult to believe they would so coldly watch some horrific events unfold, and that they refuse to show clearer signs when they bother to show signs at all. She believes them to be uncaring, and questions parts of the code that don’t make sense to her—such as medicine cats not being able to take mates. Especially with Kindleflare’s relationship with Batear, I think it would be interesting for them to discuss Briarpaw’s vehemence for the rule (and how Kindle might be inclined to agree with her, but can’t reveal her secret). Briarpaw believes in love, and has always wanted to fall in love one day. I think a huge part of her would be distraught the path of a medicine cat is for her, whether she has a love interest at the time or not. So, if she were to accept the MCA position, she’d know exactly what she’d have to give up for her Clan. I think her acceptance of her role as MCA would huge for her character development, because she’d have to sacrifice something she’s always wanted for the sake of her Clan. Plus, the fact she’d accept being MCA would mean that she’d have to believe StarClan had put her on this path for a reason, therefore believing StarClan actually has a plan for her and actually cares about her. It would be both a journey of personal development for her, and spiritual development.
How would you describe your activity? Active! I’m on everyday, and I help run this ship. C: Account 30-day mark: Already there, baby.Anything else? Briarpaw seems like she'd probably be a more challenging apprentice for Kindleflare, but I like to think she might end up bringing a lively dynamic into her life that she did not foresee. I'm kind of picturing something like Yellowfang/Cinderpaw?? Obviously Kindleflare isn't really grumpy, but I'm imagining they'd probably quarrel light-heartedly quite a bit - mostly because Briarpaw as a character enjoys debate, and poking fun at others. Other than that - like Kindleflare, Briarpaw lost someone to the Demon attacks. While the medicine cat lost Tigereye, Briarpaw lost her mentor Lynxfire, and is plagued by similar grief, so we can play into that as well. The only difference is that Briarpaw tries not to think about it (and bottles it up, so she’ll probably explode one day), while Kindleflare seems to let it overwhelm her? IDK. I would love to thread them, though! I think I’ll tag you in an herb-gathering thread, if that’s okay??? I need a territory thread for Briarpaw regardless if she’s chosen or not, and it would make sense if Kindleflare needs an extra mouth to carry herbs back to camp. xD

Character's Name: Yewpaw || YewsongAge: Eight moons. Gender: She-cat. What characteristics do they possess that will help them in their role?- Intuitive & Compassionate; Yewpaw is an impressionable feline, choosing to do the best for others as much as she possibly can. She is very intuitive, able to detect problems within another quite easily. She's very good at using her other senses, whether it's physically or reaching into depth emotionally. When there’s a need for innovation or a different perspective, she can usually step up and provide a new direction. Practicality can sometimes be overrated, especially when a situation calls for serious change and “coloring outside the lines.” This is where her intuition shines. She can bring interesting dimensions to life beyond everyday ideas – and take those who decide to go along with her. Her compassion with others is diverse, comforting physically and emotionally, swaying with her words and bringing smiles to others' faces. She doesn't enjoy leaving others along until they're at least content.
- Organized & Efficient; When it comes to her work, Yewpaw is very cautious and takes precaution in everything she does, considering her undergoing clumsiness. Despite her ditsy occasions, Yewpaw is typically organizing her belongings, efficient with the work she attends. She would hate to make mistakes, which is why she's extremely cautious with every action and alongside her choice of words. The molly doesn't put away tasks until they're done neatly and have pleased the damsel herself. Yewpaw is easily stressed if something isn't right, getting back to work to make sure it's perfect, making her seem a bit like a perfectionist, which might be partly accurate.
- Attentive & Hard-working; The young she-cat is a very observant female, being very attentive. This makes for a good listener, and she's fortunately easy to teach as well. She adapts quickly, able to take information in both ears, keeping it in the back of her mind for future reference or use. She takes knowledge seriously, finding any new information valuable and good to know. Whether it's a stupid joke, she would attempt to make something food and clever out of it. Yewpaw is pretty much a workaholic, focusing her life on her work rather than finding friends and such, making her quite introverted and lonely in a way. Thankfully for her, (not others) Yewpaw enjoys working hard, even if it calls for some stress every now and then.
What characteristics do they possess that will hinder them in their role?- Ditsy & Easily Discouraged; Unfortunately, Yewpaw is ditsy and faults to mistakes more than intended. She would never intend on making a mistake, as it quickly comes to discourage her, making her feel overwhelmed and anxious. Yewpaw is frustrated after making a mistakes, whether it's tripping after collecting moss and herbs, or worse, causing death or injury. She would despise the situation and do the most to make up for it. She can become frantic and uneasy, stumbling with her motions, calling for struggle. As a doctor, shaky 'hands' are never a great thing. When discouraged, she feels like a failure, stressing out and wanting to throw a task away. She wouldn't allow someone to pass or worsen, shakily working through discouragement.
- Overthinking & Insecure; Prominent to overthinking, she finds her thoughts becoming jumbled and out of place, making her crania want to explode. When Yewpaw gets like this, she tends to keep more to herself, not wanting to lose her mind on anyone around her. She becomes aware of this thinking, embracing it and becoming more stressed with every thought occurring. When this happens, she's more insecure, fearing judgment and speaking to others about how she feels. She'd hate to burden anyone, so she keeps to herself, strict on her thoughts. Yewpaw is always questioning the, "what if", "why", "how, "when", "where". Plenty of questions implode her brain, but she keeps it to herself, bringing the mademoiselle down.
- Strong-willed & Argumentative; Unfortunately for the mentor of this gal, Yewpaw is a very independent damsel, wanting to do the work herself if allowed once she'd learned it. The young she-cat doesn't like to disappoint and would hate to do so. Her strong-willed nature allows her to strive, but the stubbornness of the trait defies the point. It can get annoying and frustrating to others, considering she wants to hold the perfect image and make others proud of what she's done. If attempting to stop her, she can become argumentative and upset with the situation. Of course, if she's risking a life, she's willing, but quite reluctant to have her mentor do the work. This being, is because once the previous medicine cat moves on, she will need to mentor in the near future and do the work herself for some time. There was a lot she feels she needs to uphold.
How would you describe your activity? I can definitely keep up with this, as I've held high ranks before, from leaders, to deputies, to medicine cats. I've done them all, and I love roleplaying them. Sure, I have a lot of characters, but I insist that you don't underestimate me *insert wink*. Account 30-day mark: My account is forty-four days old~. Anything else? I could see Yewpaw getting along quite well with Kindleflare, admiring her both as her mentor and probably will befriend Kindle. I can see Yewpaw looking up to her mentor, almost obsessively. I can't think of any future plots at the moment, since I'm sort of just tossing Yewpaw in for the possibility of roleplaying her as a meddie. I kind of want her to like fracture her hind foot badly to the point where it causes struggle when maneuvering. I've always enjoyed medicine cats, so I'm givin it a shot with this gal! If she is chosen, I will definitely have plots in mind, or I'll think of some in the meantime and possibly add onto this. At some point, whether apprentice of the meddie or not, I planned on having her have a fracture or something of that sort that permanently makes it more of a challenge to maneuver.

Character's Name: Whitethorn Age: 18 moons Gender: Male What characteristics do they possess that will help them in their role?
- Optimistic: Whitethorn does not let much bring him down. Even when the odds are stacked against him, or when things just do not seem to be going his way, Whitethorn will fly his optimistic flag higher for everyone to see. He does this mostly for the benefit of those around him—some cat has to be optimistic when things look grim, and he is quite happy to fill that role. He has learned very quickly that a little optimism goes a long way when it comes to completing a difficult task. Not to mention that being happy was a lot more fun than being stressed out all the time, so he tries to be optimistic whenever he can.
- Intelligent: Whitethorn is creative when it comes to problem-solving. He works through the problems in his head, making sure he has a fully formulated plan in place before presenting it to his clanmates. He is not afraid to try new methods, to experiment, or take calculated risks to complete his goals. He also has an almost encyclopedic knowledge of anything he is asked to learn. His creativeness in problem-solving would eventually lead him to develop new and possibly more effective forms of treatment, and his encyclopedic knowledge of herbs would obviously benefit him as a Medicine Cat Apprentice.
- Strong morals: Whitethorn is a very caring individual, and he has a strong instinctual desire to preserve life. For him, nothing is more important than a cat’s life: not a border, not a piece of prey, not even the wishes of a clan leader. He understands that battles are a part of life but what he does not understand, and refuses to subscribe to, is the idea that battles and fighting are the only part of Warrior life. There should be more to it than clawing the fur off your neighbors, surely?
What characteristics do they possess that will hinder them in their role?- Stubborn: Sometimes, when he does fail, Whitethorn will not accept that outcome. He will ‘beat a dead horse’ and either go into overdrive and work himself near to death to try to reverse the failure, or spend the next few days brooding about how he should have done better, or more, or anything to prevent the failure. He does not fail often and even the idea of failure sends him into a neurotic tizzy that takes hours, sometimes days to get over.
- Tactless: Whitethorn does not understand how his words can affect others. He will simply blurt out things that were better left said in private, or better left not said at all, and then wonder why cats would get upset with him. He comes by it honestly, which is almost worse than if he was doing it to be snarky. From his point of view he is being helpful and honest. This, of course, does not lend itself well to the very important ‘bedside manner’ that medicine cats need to have, and will ultimately result in him upsetting more than one of his patients.
- Pompous : Whitethorn is a know-it-all. He thinks his intellect is so impressive that every cat in the clan needs to be reminded of it. He tries to sneak it in to conversation, casually bragging about some incredible feat of intelligence or another. Of course he is not wrong; he is quite intelligent—but this has given him an undeserved sense of importance and entitlement. He is still too young to fully understand that being intelligent does not necessarily mean being ‘smart’. I imagine this would cause some friction between Whitethorn and Kindleflare and the other medicine cats.
How would you describe your activity? I like to be active. I check the site daily for new threads to respond to and am actively looking for more people to RP with. Sometimes threads go stale, or people get busy, but with HR characters I will make a special effort to meet the activity minimums. Account 30-day mark: My account became 30 days old on December 24, 2019 Anything else? I think with Whitethorn's mother having been in the medicine den for a large portion of his kithood, Whitethorn and Kindleflare would have some sort of familiarity together. Perhaps during his time visiting his mother, he helped Kindleflare around the medicine den, and now volunteers to escort / help her restock the herb supply? I am always happy, ready and willing to plot with Kindleflare and Whitethorn! (PS, I have added an RP example on Whitethorn's bio here)

What characteristics do they possess that will help them in their role?▸ Empathetic: Ravenpaw cares about other cats and does not want to see anyone in pain. He would want to do everything in his power to help others, even to his own detriment. He would very good at offering a listening ear as he does not dismiss the emotions of others, even when he does not fully understand them. His empathy and his kindness towards others would help him in his role as he would have to deal with cats who are suffering or grieving. He will go out of his way to do something nice for someone he feels needs it, sometimes too far. There are times where he feels so much for others that he almost shares their emotions, such as tearing up for those who are crying, or feeling intense anger on behalf of those wrongly bereaved. This helps him to put the emotions of others into perspective when they are acute enough for him to detect.
▸ Memorious: He has an incredible ability to remember information, absorbing anything of interest like a little sponge of knowledge. He already has a passion for the natural world, which could easily extend to include injuries, illnesses, herbs and remedies. He would be an extremely quick learner and very attentive to his lessons. He is also not afraid to ask questions, so his learning would only benefit from that. Like anyone, practice would be needed to perfect the knowledge he memorises, but I believe his keen hyperfixations and memory for interesting topics would be extremely helpful, especially considering the amount of information that medicine cats are required to learn.
▸ Doesn't understand Clan boundaries: Ravenpaw genuinely doesn't understand why the Clans are so hostile towards one another. He will be extremely quick to befriend cats from other Clans and treat them the same he would any clanmate. He thinks that keeping the Clans entirely separate except at gatherings is strange. This total lack of rivalry or hatred towards non-LightningClan cats would match perfectly with a medicine cat's lifestyle, as they must put aside Clan borders and work together for the good of all the Clans. Ravenpaw would easily adapt to this sort of lifestyle, and would likely enjoy it much more than being a warrior. What characteristics do they possess that will hinder them in their role?▸ Not very sociable: Ravenpaw has a very low social battery, and likes to keep interactions with other cats short and sparse, with breaks inbetween for him to recharge. Being a medicine cat will require him to deal with cats more often, which would be very challenging for him. He may find himself quickly worn out and would need careful support from Kindleflare in order to adapt to his new role. He finds it difficult to navigate social situations and can sometimes misunderstand what other cats mean, taking them very literally or reading into their words something they didn't intend.
▸ Sensitive: Ravenpaw can become overstimulated, especially in a crowded, noisy or cramped environment. Situations like this can cause him to panic and blank out, either freezing up or abandoning the situation or losing his handle on his emotions. He fears embarrassing moments like these and may be very insecure, questioning his ability to fulfill his role and be a "good apprentice" to Kindleflare. He will doubt himself, even when he recalls information so well, and will need kind encouragement to grow in self-confidence.
▸ Veracious: Ravenpaw is a terrible liar. Even when he attempts to lie, it is very, very obvious even to cats who don't know him. The reason this may hinder his role rather than help it is that sometimes, it's important for a medicine cat to be able to lie in order to reassure. If a cat were potentially on their deathbed and asked if they would be okay, Ravenpaw would likely blurt out the honest truth, that they might not make it. He is simply incapable of even minor deception and struggles to be able to identify when he should lie and when he should be truthful. He doesn't mean to be cruel, and there is no conscious reason for his honesty, he is just... an impulsive truth-teller. How would you describe your activity?I've just started college, so my activity will waver, but I have confidence I would be able to keep up with the minimum posting requirements for a high rank even if there are times I need to devote extra hours to my studies! Account 30-day mark:Uhh... two years ago, I think? Just under a year ago? I'm good to go, anyway. Anything else? The main reason I want to put Ravenpaw forward for this role is because I think it would add another interesting layer to Ravenpaw's and Kindleflare's relationship! (And also because I have always loved roleplaying medicine cats, heh) As one of his closest kin asides from Robinflame, I think Ravenpaw would have interacted with Kindleflare a lot as a kit and that may very well be where his curiousity about the medicine cat role began. His lack of a father figure (Harestrike wants nothing to do with him, really) would probably drive him to seek that secondary parental figure elsewhere, and I think it would be really sweet if he found that in Kindleflare (and potentially Batear too!) even if he doesn't get this role.
His current mentor has a rather negative relationship with him as she does not understand why he can't just "work harder" (rather than adapting to his needs) and I think Kindleflare would be a much kinder role model. He would likely go to her for advice and simply to talk, because no matter what, she always makes him feel listened to. Talking to Kindleflare would not be quite so exhausting for him as talking to most other cats, I don't think.
Her lack of confidence would not phase him. In fact, it would probably make him feel better. After all, if a cat he looks up to can feel self-doubt, then doesn't that mean his self-doubt is likely also misplaced? Either way, getting a role like medicine cat would probably make Ravenpaw feel like his place in the Clan is established, rather than feeling like an apprentice that's just, not quite as quick on his paws as the other apprentices. And, bonus, he would love learning about herbs. It would probably become a new passion alongside... y'know, dead animals.
