"Goodnight, Strikesong" Graypaw had given her mother a big smile and a soft purr as she bid her a goodnight, her tone soft and light. Despite being wide awake with the events at the Gathering, still playing in her mind, the apprentice allowed herself to be ushered into the apprentice's den. Sleeping, however was far from her mind. She stopped once she had cleared the entrance of the den, before shifting her head back in her mother's direction. The older bengal cat's form had faded away into the shadows of the darkness, and with that, Graypaw turned away and looked out into the depths of the apprentice den. She squinted those sea green eyes of hers, out towards the small bodies that lay within those small compressing walls. Even with the small pools of moonlight basking the den with some light, it was still hard to pinpoint the location of her brother's dark pelt. He was slightly smaller than many of the other apprentices, making him slightly smaller than even her. Thankfully, what did help her in the end, was the fact that the two had put their nests closer to the back of the den than in the front. Which made it easier for her to find him.
She took a small breath before she shifted her weight forward, moving to pick her way through the slumbering forms of her clan mates. Carefully her tiny paws stepped over limbs; mostly tails and paws, and moved towards her brother. A heartbeat and a sigh later, she had made it to his nest. She peered down at his sleeping form, a small twinge of guilt pulling at her being at that precise moment. He looked so peaceful and for a moment she thought better of interrupting him and just moving to curl up into her own nest and fall asleep. Yet the excitement of the Gathering, among other things, pushed at her resolve. With her mind made up, she reached down with a tiny paw and nudged her brother with it gently.
"Moonpaw," She whispered his name gently, while continuingly prodding and poking at him to awake. Her tone was soft and quiet, all in effort to make sure she wasn't disturbing anyone else nearby. Her brother, unfortunately wasn't getting the same treatment, "Are you awake? I need to talk to you, please..." Now that was definitely and understatement. There had been so much that had happened at the Gathering tonight and the young apprentice was a buzz with the lingering affects of it. Clovermask. The pretty warrior who she had met and had talked to at the Gathering had been so nice and welcoming and she wanted to share this excitement of making a new friend with her brother. And yet....there was a feeling in her gut that was telling her something was off. Something that she wasn't quite sure of at that moment. Which was why she wanted to talk to her brother about it. If he woke up anytime that was!

» M O O N P A W « > HE | 9 MOONS < Moonpaw didn't dream that night. He was sad he wasn't picked for the Gathering, so he had gone straight to sleep when the others left. He didn't want to hear anything about what had happened at the Gathering until the morning, but clearly, someone else had other plans.
He woke up from the void of sleep as someone was constantly prodding him. He opened one eye sleepily, to see the figure of his sister there, standing, probably excited to say what had happened there and brag about it. Moonpaw grumbled something under his nose into his moss bed, but rose up to his feet slowly and sat down, facing Graypaw.
"What could possibly be so urgent you had to pull me up at some Starclan-forsaken hour? I won't appreciate having to be sleepy during training tomorrow for whatever reason this might be," Moonpaw grumbled unhappily, blinking a few times to try and wake up properly at least to listen.

Thankfully it hadn't taken him long to wake up, but the amount of guilt that had spiked in Graypaw, only seemed to heighten when she finally met her brother's eyes. Perhaps it was just the sleep talking, or maybe it was something more, either way, Graypaw couldn't help but let out a small breath she was holding. "Sorry, Moonpaw," She purled softly, a hint of remorse for having woken him, even more evident in her voice by this point, "I was just so excited, that I wanted to tell you," She paused in mid-sentence realizing that even it sounded silly saying outloud and started pondering if whether she should just wait for the morning. Moonpaw had mentioned that he had training to do in the morning, maybe she should? She let out another breath from her nose, before lowering her ears and returning her attention back to her brother.
She tried once again, to get what she had been trying to say out from before, "I'm sorry...its just that everything was so fun at the Gathering, and I just wanted to share it with you..." She found the second time was the charm and was fairly pleased with herself this time. It was the truth, after all, especially considering Moonpaw hadn't gotten to go to the Gathering and she had, so wasn't it the next logical step to want to talk about the experience? And share with her beloved brother? She twitched her tail, watching him for a few minutes before dropping her eyes to the ground. Hopefully, Moonpaw wouldn't hate her too much for her wanting to talk more.

» M O O N P A W « > HE | 6 MOONS < Moonpaw twitched his tail, smacking it against the mossy bed. He pinned his ears to the back of his head, and turned away from Graypaw for a moment. Couldn't it have waited until morning? Moonpaw almost asked, irritated, but he held his tongue back just at the last moment. Seeing his sister drop her eyes to the ground made him sigh, but he forced to look back at her.
"Well?" Moonpaw asked after a silent minute, giving her an annoyed but slightly curious gaze. "What happened during the Gathering that it cannot wait a little more time until morning?" He looked around the den briefly and breathed a silent sigh of relief. They hadn't woken anyone else up, at least not just yet, and he hoped that it would stay that way. If Grayleaf had something to say so urgently, he was pretty sure she wouldn't any other ears to hear.

Just like that, all excitement and happiness she had felt during the Gathering, came flooding back into the small apprentice. Letting out a soft purr, she leaned over and butted her head against her brother's in a gentle thanks. Knowing that he was giving up his sleep to listen to her, made her happy. "Thank you, Moonpaw," She remarked, pulling back from him, after her previous display of affection, "I'll make it fast, I promise," She paused briefly, allowing her thoughts to drift back to the predicament that had happened tonight. It took, but a second, to recall the main reason of why she had wanted to talk to her brother in the first place. "So at the Gathering, everything was pretty okay at first. I was with Shrikesong for most of the night," It was something she was sure that her brother would easily relate too, especially considering their parents seemed keen on keeping them at paws length since they were kits.
While it something that Graypaw had taken into account a long time ago when the two had been in the nursery but only had vaguely remembered. Now that the two were apprentices, it was even more apparent now than it was back then, but Graypaw was not the type to question her parents. Though she was curious of why the two seemed keen on keeping their kits so close. Anyway. "But then I met this other molly, named Clovermask," She spoke the name casually, watching her brother intently by this point. She was looking for any sign that the name meant anything to him, or if he heard it before. She continued however with what she was saying, "She was very nice and all, and we had a great talk...but then...Shrikesong came out of nowhere and...I don't know. Maybe its me, being me, but....something seemed strange the way she spoke to Clovermask....," She paused in her words, trying to think of the best way to describe her feelings of what had happened. There had been an air around her mother and Clovermask. Some type of edge of tension or...something that had made her curious of the two's interaction.
But what was the feeling though? Was it just curiosity? Or was there something more about the two's relationship? Like, had they possibly met before...?"Do you think I'm just being silly, Moonpaw? Maybe I'm just overthinking what I saw?" That was definately a question she hoped he could answer, because at this moment she was just lost in her own curiousity. To her, it had seemed that her mother had known Clovermask. Okay, the tone that her mother had given the other molly, was certainly something that Graypaw had never known her mother to have towards other cats. She was friendly and a kind mother, who got along with everyone. But why would she treat Clovermask so cold? Yet another question she couldn't quite place with an answer.

» M O O N P A W « > HE | 9 MOONS < Moonpaw didn't show much emotion as Graypaw talked. He was still unhappy about being woken up in the middle of the night, but he was listening carefully to what his sister had to say. His ear twitched every now and then, but as her story was drawing to an end, his eyes narrowed a little. He was silent for a bit after she was done and waited for him to say something, anything, to answer her.
"Well, I think it'd depend on what Shrikesong also said to this Clovermask of yours," Moonpaw meowed quietly, as to not disturb anyone else. "But maybe... Maybe this Clovermask is the reason why Shrikesong kept us so close to her when we were kits. She never explained, did she? If Shrikesong knew Clovermask before... I don't know, now I'm starting to sound ridiculous."
But the name lingered in his mind after he stopped talking. Clovermask... Clovermask... Doesn't ring a bell, still, he thought to himself, and gave up trying to remember if he ever learnt anything about this cat.

Both ears twitched soundly as Graypaw listend to what her brother said. Her mind was a twirl of thoughts and simple explanations of what had taken place with her mother and Clovermask. One simple idea was that she had just imagined the entire thing and it was just a silly dream that was making her think such things. But..."Well, I think it'd depend on what Shrikesong also said to this Clovermask of yours. But maybe... Maybe this Clovermask is the reason why Shrikesong kept us so close to her when we were kits. She never explained, did she? If Shrikesong knew Clovermask before... I don't know, now I'm starting to sound ridiculous." Yet to her, her brother's words did not sound ridiculous at all. She turned her focus away from her brother for a moment and forced herself to remember the conversation that had happened that same nigh. Yet, no matter how hard she tried she couldn't recall much of anything that could disprove her theory that Shrikesong and Clovermask knew each other.
The more positive note, however, was there was also no prove that didn't support her previous idea also. So that was a good thing. Rounding her sea-green eyes back onto her brother she moved to address that simply, "I don't think you sound ridiculous at all, Moonpaw," She mewed encouragingly, "I actually think you're right...I never wanted to admit it but...Shrikesong never did mention anything about her at all, but why would she keep this from us? Clovermask wasn't being mean at all. She just seemed so...nice when she was around me, when Shrikesong came up...she was still like that and oh! ," A few loud mews of protest from her loud outburst, had the gray molly, lowering her ears and turning to whisper soft apologizes to the cats she disturbed before looking back to her brother.
"I just remembered something...Clovermask did say something. She said that it was nice to see, Shrikesong again...so..so maybe you're right Moonpaw! Maybe she did know Clovermask before!" As the truth dawned back on the young apprentice she found herself beginning to ponder the obvious questions. Why had Shrikesong seemed so angry when Clovermask had said something too her and the better question of the moment....why had their own mother hid this from them?
