Owlstar
LightningClan || 81 Moons || Leader
The sun should have been hanging within the middle of the sky, but it seemed that the gray clouds that were coating the once blue coloring decided that they were going to keep the brilliant rays of light held back as well. The wind was chilly, and as always was no friend to the lanky gray feline who quickly made her way through the open moorlands with the larger figure of her brother and the quiet silhouette of their medicine cat trailing behind her.
She wasted no time, her pace brisk and orderly as the aging molly slipped through the entrance of Lighningclan's open campsite. The familiar scents brushed her nose as several colorful eyes met her upon her arrival. It didn't take but a few seconds and a bound for her to ascend atop the Hill Top to call for a meeting, though several of her cats were already making their way around.
It was common knowledge for a meeting to be called upon the arrival of the clan's new leader.
"All cats swift enough to race through the moors please gather around the Hill Top for a clan meeting." Her tone was sharp and raspy as always, wide amber eyes fitting of the new leader's namesake slowly shifting from cat to cat as each feline made their way forwards upon her call. It was the first time that she was standing up here as leader, as Owlstar rather than her former name of Owlmind.
Perhaps a surge of power should have raced through her chest, but instead pride for her clan and her clanmates wormed it's way through her skinny body. She had never been one for ambitious dreams or goals, merely that of teaching and molding minds. And now, as leader she could aid the whole clan rather than a single apprentice beneath her wing. Per thoughts, Owlstar's vision strayed to the image of Maplepaw, her most recent apprentice before flickering to the large, lanky form of Nightrunner.
"Times are changing, and so it seems are we as a clan." She started, letting her gaze shift from the dark coated warrior that had once been her first apprentice, many many moons ago, to slink over the forms of Sunnyheart and his mate before darting to Batear and Cloudthroat in the separate places that they sat. Even her brother, now newly named Redrose sat among his peers as he once again reclaimed his spot as a warrior rather than a high ranking feline.
"Just as I was once deputy, it is now time to choose a cat to replace that position." Owlstar's gaze slowly ran over each cat who held the rank of Warrior within Lightningclan. The elders were posted near their den, watching with eyes that had seen countless moons while the kits restlessly played within the safety of the Nursery walls.
Tilting her narrow nose backwards to let her gaze shift towards the sky, the dilute she-cat parted her maw which was growing white with age. "I say these words before StarClan, that the spirits of our warrior ancestors may hear and approve of my choice." She had heard these words several times, when her brother had become Firestar's deputy, when she was chosen as Redstar's deputy. Words passed from leader to leader as they stood in front of their clan to appoint a warrior who would help lead by their side.
"The new deputy of Lightningclan will be Nightrunner." Lowering her head, Owlstar fixated the lanky tomcat with her wide gaze. A look of surprise passed through his pale yellow gaze as he slowly rose to his large paws. The quirky tom was unsure of what to do for a moment, before padding forwards to where Owlstar was sitting, her thin tail wrapped around her nimble paws as she looked on with pride and approval for her former apprentice.
Nightrunner dipped his head out of respect to his new leader before turning to face the array of felines watching him. His plume tail flickered slightly as he tried to figure out the words to address his clan as their new deputy. "I am honored, to be chosen as your next deputy." His voice was soft and quiet as he spoke but there was that hint of baritone beneath. Glancing back at his new leader he once again dipped his head out of respect before continuing. "I'm honored to serve with you Owlstar, thank you for choosing me."
