Description: A creature of the limitless mountains, shrouded in a veil of darkness in the form of fur, and with eyes like an endless pit of flames, (Flicker) of Dying Flame is one of the many oddities that bless the Tribe.
As you may expect, one of the very first features that nearly any cat who meets this feline notices is the source from which her name was given to her: her eyes. A vibrant blend of amber and a fiery orange, the shade of her eyes could be described as the changing colors of the sky as the sun falls over the horizon. Or at least that would be the comparison were it not for the more unique addition within those burning orbs. A strange trait given to her at birth, her eyes are speckled and swirled with both darker shades of orange and, more oddly, black, almost giving her eyes the appearance of a raging flame within a forest. Those around her have wondered just where this intriguing feature came from, and the only answer that could hold any truth is genetics. Her eyes weren’t quite as intense as they are now when she was a kit, but they grew and developed into the burning fire that they are today.
Though her eyes are already a very unique quirk on their own, something else that many find interesting about this she-cat is her body shape. In comparison to many females, whose bodies are more lithe and slender with softer pelts, Flicker is more stockily built in her torso, almost giving her a tom-like appearance if it weren’t for her very blatant feminine curves. Due to living within the mountains, one must be able to withstand the harsh terrain and temperatures that nature gifts to those of the Tribe. Flicker does this with her bulkier body, legs strong from all the climbing and meandering around the mountains she has done since she was young and enough muscle to withstand the cold.
In addition to her general size and bulk, another feature that aids her in her thriving within the mountains is her pelt. Though the midnight black fur that adorns her skin may not be long, what it lacks in length it makes up for in density. Rather than the typical soft and fluffy pelts that those clan cats often display, Flicker’s pelt is slightly more coarse, appearing as though it is sticking straight out away from her body rather than flowing with it. It can appear almost wiry to some, but upon its touch, it does have at least a little bit of that typical soft and comforting feeling that most cats possess.
To finalize the aesthetic that this she-cat displays, her nose is just as coal black as the rest of her body and her paws are larger than usual paws. In addition to these traits, among the rest of this she-cat’s peculiarities are her medium-length white whiskers that stand out against her shadowed figure.

“The flame may look small, but that doesn’t make it any less intense or dangerous.”

Exterior: An elegant and professional femme with her chin always held high, Flicker is seen as what one may wish to see from a confident, strong, and independent heroine from an old story. One of the atypical “the prince won’t save me, it will be me saving him” sorts. A strong female who stands up for herself while also caring for those around her, protecting those that she cares for with her life.
With a deep sense of self-confidence and the internal affirmation of her elegant appearance, she is not one who ever feels bothered by the words of others. She knows that she is strong, she knows that she is capable, and she knows that her abilities and strength will never falter for as long as she lives. Whether anyone believes she is not strong or otherwise, they will always be wrong. Despite these thoughts and this knowledge, Flicker does not come off as the arrogant or boastful sort, for she does not constantly talk about herself as some higher being or a cat to be feared and respected. She is very polite and, at rare times, will almost act bashful should someone point out positivities about her that, truthfully, she already knows are true. Her words are spoken in an elegant and almost medieval fashion, portraying that of a noble from the old days or a cat of aristocracy, only adding to her already captivating appearance.
Always one to help and praise those around her, Flicker is known for her giving of advice to any who wish for it, telling them all the things they need (or at times want) to hear, gaining herself a loving reputation among those around her. She is one to both give and receive praises in times of tension or need, quick to cool a situation that gets particularly heated. It isn’t good for cats who are so alike to fight, after all.
Interior: Where Flicker’s exterior self that all of those around her see is very lady-like and kind-hearted, what she is truly like on the inside is practically the complete opposite. She may not act super self-centered on the outside, but inside, she sees herself as superior to all of her Tribe-mates. She knows that she is beautiful, she knows that she is talented, and she knows that she is one of the key assets keeping the Tribe together, in her own opinion at least. She will not accept anything less than this from anyone, either. Should anyone ever criticize her ways or tell her that she made a mistake, she will be fuming on the inside at the mere fact that any cat sees themselves worthy of criticizing her. Depending on the cat, what they say, and how often they have gotten on her nerves, at times some words will slip from her. Admittedly, she often doesn't know how to recover from this, which causes her anger to flare. But rather than release it, she walks away, for if she snaps in the moment, her reputation will falter. As a cat as flawless(in her eyes) as she, that is unacceptable. Now, on the other hand, she takes any and all compliments and praises straight to the heart, secretly favoring any cat who only points out her good qualities. This is especially true when she does anything special, such as catch a rare piece of prey(which she sees as amazing even though she isn't supposed to) or defend a Tribemate from a predator. She knows that whatever she did is special, and she will curse any who think otherwise. When someone does become one of her favorites, her favoritism of them takes over, making her cling to them and their praise at all times. This causes her to avoid others who this cat is not fond of or other cats who are not the same or similar to this cat. This alone results in very clear ignorance and a complete disregard for those she doesn't deem worthy, which can make others assume that she hates them or that they have done something wrong, even if they haven't.
Now, while she does see herself as higher than others, this trait doesn’t necessarily only apply to her as a cat. In addition, this declaration of self-importance extends to the Tribe. Not all of the cats in the Tribe, but the Tribe as a whole. In her eyes, the five clans are foolish and pitiful, fighting over pointless borders, having meetings under the watchful gaze of their precious “Starclan”, and all believe that they are the best. She finds their antics and declarations of “my clan is the best”, “no, my clan is!” amusing, for she knows that all of them are wrong. They just don’t know it yet. To Flicker, some day the clans are all going to get themselves dug into a hole, no option but to destroy themselves from the inside remaining. And when that happens (which she would love to be a part of the reason that it did), she would sit and watch from the mountains as their valley they have fought for all their miserable lives burned to the ground. Cruelty and heartlessness have never and will never be a stranger to this she-cat.
Now, particularly as a cat of the Tribe, some may wonder exactly how she would wish to play into the falling of the clans. It is simple. Secrets. All cats have secrets, and all cats have weaknesses. Most cats would never be willing to tell their secrets or dark pasts to a random cat. But, luckily for Flicker, she will never remain just “a random cat”. This is where that polite and elegant demeanor she displays on the outside comes in play. Get under the skin of others, gain their trust, tell them what they want to hear when they need to hear it, and play with their emotions. Tug at their mind until it slowly starts to wrap around your paws. Sooner or later, depending on the willpower of the target and your own determination, one can basically control these puppets to do anything. And if this method is used on cats of the clans who hold power...one can assume just how the scenario will play out. Granted, this is all a part of her fantasies, things she dreams of on a daily basis. But she is determined to make these dreams become a reality. And when she does, she will show both the clans and the Tribe just how powerful one cat can be.
While all of that is fine and dandy, something that she will never admit or allow herself to think, is the fact that things don't always work the way she wants them too. She will look at a cat and automatically just assume that her charms and elegant words will enrapture any cat she meets. She thinks that one bat of the eyelashes and she has them hooked. But the chance of every situation going exactly the way she wants it is not the case, and she doesn't seem to understand this. If a cat reacts badly to her, or ignores her, or just pushes aside her attempts to catch them in her web, she will get extremely confused and frustrated. She will remember this cat, and she will remember that they ignored her, and she will assume that this makes that cat her enemy. Should she see them again, she will likely attack on sight with every intention to kill, because how dare they ignore her. Unfortunately, when she comes to this state of mind, she cares not for who is around her or who sees. This will likely get her in a lot of trouble some day. But she will probably assume that she can get away with it by using her charms in those cases too. Unfortunately, she likely won't ever learn that things won't always go her way. She will see that it works once or twice, and believes it will work every other time as well.

History: Having kits. A joyful event in the eyes of most. Little bundles of fur are often the blessed combination of two love-struck hearts, their devotion to one another being created physically in the form of little kits. Typically, mates create kits to expand upon their families and bring a new source of joy into the word. This was not the case in the bonding of Shade and Sky.
Branch that Reaches to (Sky), a very stoic and devoted tom who spent his whole life living in a soldier-like fashion as a Cave-Guard. Dedicated to the Tribe and their way of life, he was always a traditionalist who stuck close to the rules he was raised under. And (Shade) in Thick Forest, a mysterious she-cat who always kept to the sidelines, watching as matters within the Tribe unfolded. Though she was a Prey-Hunter and did indeed live under the watchful eye of the Tribe, she was always much more independent than she let on, hunting for herself on her own before she hunted for anyone else.
They were an unlikely pair, yet they bonded in the slightest of ways. Both of them had things they respected about one another, and other things that they despised. Sky hated the way that she lived within the Tribe yet did not put them first, and Shade hated that he was so dedicated to this group that he didn’t seem to have a mind of his own. Yet they both connected over their physical abilities and a mutual respect as Tribemates. They never truly became “mates” per say, but they did have an agreement of sorts that they kept between them. If they did unite together in the making of kits, it would be strictly for their own individual purposes. If they had an even number of kits, both of them would take half of the litter, raising them as “single” parents separately without associating with one another. If they had an uneven amount, well...that could be figured out when the time came.
Luckily, when Shade gave birth, there were only two kits, which both parents were thankful for. Within this litter were a tom and a she-cat, the tom taking on his father’s appearance while the she-cat looked like her mother. Shade, as their mother, had no choice but to nurse them and keep them both alive of course. But as soon as they were able to eat solid food, she pushed her son, who she named (Talon) of Swooping Owl, aside. She left him to his own devices, whether he wished to see one of the other Kit-Mothers as his own was his choice. She would keep her daughter, who she named (Flicker) of Dying Flame.
All throughout Flicker’s life, she was never really raised in the same fashion as most kits. She knew and was bonded with her mother, and she knew that she had a brother, but she was always under the assumption that she had no father and that the way she was raised was normal.
Where most kits are taught the ways of the Tribe, learning about the ranks and how the world within the Tribe worked, Flicker was taught something along the same lines, but with a twist. “Show your falsehood of devotion to the Tribe with kindness, with respect, and care for them as one of their own, for you were born among their population. But never fall victim to their laws or governing. You are your own feline, and you are meant to live in a respectable fashion. Vowing your life to anyone but yourself is not respectable fashion.” These were words that she heard often from her mother. As a kit, she never fully understood what these words fully meant. But as she grew older, she started to understand at least a little bit. It was her mother who, throughout her time before becoming a To-Be, ingrained the thoughts and desires of a power-hungry and thrill-seeking beast within her mind. Others watched from the shadows as Shade slowly began to turn her kit into the sort of cat that none of them wished to associate with. Though they heard some of the things that Shade taught to Flicker, they were never there for all of it, nor would they ever bare witness to what Shade had truly created inside of her daughter.
By the time Flicker became a To-Be, she was a mixture of many things, but loyal was not one of them. She ran away often, choosing to be by herself rather than with any adults or others of her age. During her times on her own, she would occasionally meet with her mother, the two of them as a pair catching live prey and merely listening to it squeal. Something that always stuck within Flicker’s mind was that Shade enjoyed listening to the frightened shrieks of her prey, but she also used their cries as a sort of tune, humming or singing along with their bursts of fear. Due to the way she was raised, Flicker did not see this as sadistic or messed up or psychotic; she saw this as inspirational.
Though she learned and developed many of the same freakish interests and hobbies as her mother, Shade always wished for the kit that she brought into the world to do more than she had, to be more than she was. She wanted Flicker to hold power, and show the inhabitants of the Tribe just what sort of cat could truly hold desire and power rather than focus on the foolish fantasy of spirits and the dead.
Despite many having vague knowledge of the way she was raised by Shade, Flicker began to prove others wrong, the art of deception becoming a practiced hobby of hers in no time. She trained hard as a To-Be Cave-Guard, showed respect to those above her, and had developed a manner of speaking that many found both intriguing and interesting. All of this on top of the strange beauty that this much more muscular and fascinating she-cat carried with her, most began to think that Shade hadn’t worn off on Flicker as much as they originally believed, or perhaps Flicker had been more oblivious to the somewhat corrupted ways of her mother.
Before long, Flicker had grown into an elegant she-cat, being promoted to a full Cave-Guard at nearly the same time as the brother she never really associated with. Now a full member of the Tribe, Flicker still acted generally the same: composed, respectful, and always willing to lend a helpful paw. Luckily, all of her training during her To-Behood allowed her to gain control over her true thoughts, containing them as best as she could. Of course, she is still quite chaotic and has very sinister thoughts on an hourly basis, but all of her mother’s teachings have taught her to hide this side of her from others. As much as this irritates the shit out of her, she knows that she must in order to retain the reputation that she knows she has (in her head at least).
