Beauty is a joy that forever increases
It will never pass into nothingness
It will never pass into nothingness
He felt uncomfortable, this was not his normal routine when it came to ending the night. He'd been sent out on one last border patrol; one half of his group sent one way and the other with him in the leader the other way to check. He got the short straw of the deal when he got left with only one warrior while the other three went to the other border to check the markings. Uncomfortable was a good way of putting it. Russet-Tail was most certainly not used to being alone with a she-cat and was expecting and planned more than anything to just doing this job quick and easy so that they both could go home without having to talk to each other. He wasn't a talker to begin with but the fact still stood that well...he was alone with this girl and he didn't know squat about her except her name. Lark...Larkfeather? Larkflight? He freaking didn't even know what her name was?! Dark orange orbs peeked over his shoulder at the brown female. Larkflower. That's it, he remembered because frankly. She looked like a flower to him. Not that she looked weak just...delicate was a good way to put it. He didn't see her in action all that much or see her period so he didn't really know her.
His eyes flew above them at the sound of bird wings clapping and he realized just how dark it was getting. Hmm, quick in and out and they could go home and sleep. He wanted sleep. Since he got his new apprentice Snowpaw he was dealing with more stress on how to be a normal social cat within the clan; something he wasn't used to. Granted, he was doing it to himself, keeping himself away from others to not get hurt. Of course, the toughest baddest was the one with the most weaknesses. His features grew dark and his mind grew darker at the memories until he realized he'd stopped walking and felt the impact of the she-cat behind him brush up behind him. He blinked back to reality and looked back at her before their surroundings. The Star Fields...odd place to go. He looked back towards the younger clan mate and tipped his head.
"Did you lead me here on purpose or something? Have a confession you want to make?" it was his attempt at a joke. Snowpaw was teaching him how to have a little humor in his life that wasn't so dark. This was a poor attempt at trying to seem not so...scary?
He knew he was the one who actually led him and he also knew that Larkflower was much to young to want to be with an older tom like him in his late 40 moons so his attempt at a joke was a rather poor one to say the least which made it even more awkward as he looked back towards the field to see the light bugs flashing and floating throughout the field.
"Heh, pretty. I don't come out here this late. At least not to this field. I don't think I've ever seen the light bugs out here before. I usually come here to hunt in the daytime or when I go out It's usually to a different part of the territory." he said more to himself than to her.
The large white tom was fascinated at the little bugs glowing golden and yellow around them that his large blood red ginger tail was actually flicking in excitement and he wasn't even aware of it as ears the same color perked up as he stared. He was not aware of the other beside him for a good few moments and he forgot why they were out here in the moment of seeing the beautiful and almost romantic scenery going on in front of him.
"You would have loved this Littlepaw..." he murmured not realizing he had said it out loud. Speaking the name of his precious little sister who died when they were apprentice from her weak health. Larkflower didn't know about her...not a lot of cats within the clan did except those who had been living when Russet-Tail was young. Littlepaw had been his little sister who had been born with a frail body and weak health. She barely managed to work through training and even those had to be supervised by others in case her health failed. She meant everything to Russet-Tail when he was younger. Her death was what changed him for the worst.
