Beauty is a joy that forever increases
It will never pass into nothingness
It will never pass into nothingness
His big eyes appeared to be looking for something or someone as the small tom cat crouched in the shade of a tree with his eyes half closed. He could feel the coolness of Leaf-Fall already upon them and it made him shiver in delight; he adored changes in seasons and Leaf-Fall was one of his favorites. Smudgenose was watching the warriors mingle about and the elders talking among themselves and it gave him a good sense of peace being alive. He was no elder himself; not yet anyways and even if he had been an elder he was one of high energy. A little snicker left his mouth at the thought of him retiring into the elders day when it came time. Oh he'd be the one to stir up trouble but at least the elders would never have an excuse to say they did not have fun in their lives.
Smudgenose was the bright ball of sunshine everyone hated and loved. The 'cool' uncle that got into far too much trouble for his own good. He was no apprentice anymore; already dang near senior warrior age at his 53 moons and thinking about reaching towards his elder years he liked to think he lived a life of fun and adventure...trouble more like it. But to live a life like that was better than the monochrome style others live day in and day out without adventure or laughter. Speaking of...his bright amber gaze trailed past the black smudge that got him his name on his nose and straight towards the prize. The apprentice den. Bingo! He could go and tell the younglings about some old tales of his! false tales no doubt because frankly despite having adventure...Smudgenose couldn't tell the truth to save his life when it came to telling stories that is; even when the apprentices weren't fully grown they still liked to hear from their neighborhood goofball..well some of them anyways.
Small and slinky the white tom made his way across camp and straight for the apprentice den with a beaming smile on his face. "Well good morning my lovlies; you are all looking well and healthy! Having been training hard hmm, mind if I join you?" he grinned towards the few apprentices that mingled about the clearing before his eyes trailed back towards the younger apprentices of the group in training and his grin grew twice it's size as he hollered over ignoring the protests and the sighs of resignation of the others who knew him well and didn't seem too keen on having his old butt poking his nose in their business.
"Come young children let me tell you a tale of how I braved an attack by a badger and lived to tell the tale!" he called settling himself down onto the ground a few tail lengths from the annoyed looking apprentices who didn't care much for his stories and lowered his head to be eye level with the smaller furballs that scampered his way.
"Oh what a tale it is! There I was in the middle of a hunting trip! I was going to hunt down a lovely big fat squirrel for my lovely! This sweet dear she-cat who had captured my heart. I was just about to jump into the air and swipe the squirrel straight from the tree it was scampering towards and just when I was about to get it there came a great growl from beside me; I had turned so quickly I gave myself whip lash! and there standing before me was an angry badger!" he gasped dramatically; his tail and hindquarters wiggling for affect as if he himself was getting caught up into his own tale.
"I must have disturbed it's rest or it too was going for the squirrel but anyways...it growled and hissed at me; lunging with fangs barred intent to eat me for dinner when all of a sudden-" he paused and looked up to see a lone apprentice sitting by themselves; not apart of the group he spoke his tale to and neither were they among those who were not keen on the warrior's presence. Smudgnose didn't like the sight of them alone and he pouted.
"Don't you like my story little one? Why aren't you joining your siblings and friends to listen closely? Am I boring you? My! that most certainly won't do! What is you're name little one?" he asked averting his attention to the apprentice that did not seem too keen on joining the group. Smudgenose might be in his 50 moons; almost making it to his senior warrior rank, not many took him seriously because of his over dramatic nature and small size that could easily mistake him for any of the apprentices sitting before him. The white tom with the odd smudge of black on his nose that gave him his warrior name was quiet a character. He loved to laugh and felt off putted when someone did not seem to be enjoying his company but that made him pick up his charm and dial it in for a show! He loved making people laugh even if it was at his own expense. Laughter was better then tears or gloom any day at least in his opinion. Not many saw him serious before.
"Do tell me little one! Tell Uncle Smudgenose why you are so glum so that I may make it better!" he beamed and crouched in front of the warrior in training with big imploring green eyes.
