Name: Larksong
Age: 30 Moons
Gender: She-cat
Clan: Stoneclan
Rank: Warrior
Picture: ibb.co/pzdmPMj
Description:
Larksong is a very small cat. Her legs are short, but despite that fact she has a pretty good leap span. Her small size has made it hard to use certain fighting techniques but she has learned to work around it. In the past, she has been confused for an apprentice due to her tiny build. Her long fur is extremely soft and fluffy. She has calico markings of black and orange speckled throughout her pelt, as well as a dominant orange marking on her face. Her ears and nose are black. She has an especially long tail for her size. Her eyes feature a gaze of deep forest green.
Description Summary: A small, long furred she-cat with calico markings and green eyes.
Personality:
Larksong is compassionate. She cares deeply for her clanmates and likes to offer herself as a source of comfort and support for others. Very accepting, Larksong, has been known to easily befriend outsiders that are new to Stoneclan life. She feels empathy towards them due to her own upbringing and her beginnings in Stoneclan. Due to her being so friendly, Larksong is also an easy target to be taken advantage of. While outgoing and not the type to shy away from approaching other cats, she still enjoys her alone time. Social skills come naturally to her and she is never at a loss for words. Larksong is also guarded and only allows a few to get truly close to her. She is frequently woken at night with realistic nightmares that terrify and confuse her. While some know she has these issues, she tries to avoid talking about details of the nightmares. Due to being fearful of the horrors she experiences in the night, she frequently has insomnia and can't get to sleep. It seems she never has enough sleep really and can sometimes be found lounging around popular napping areas during her free time.
She is a natural problem solver, and witty. When faced with an issue she will stop and think before asking and when asked to make major decisions she will usually ask for more time. This is seen by others as being indecisive when in reality it has been a battle for her to not have emotional reactions in the past. It has taken many moons for her to learn how to be calm and logical but it's something she is proud of. Larksong has a lot of wit and will often enjoy joking with her clanmates when the time is fitting even though she isn't one for games and takes her duties very seriously.
Larksong is graceful in personality and movement. She is agile and easy on her paws, she seems to glide right over Stoneclan's rough terrain, and has become accustomed to it with worn and hard pads on her paws.
Larksong is independent and can't stand that feeling threatened. She has commitment problems and while she adores and wants kits, in the past she has sabotaged relationship after relationship with toms. She wants others to see her as able and doesn't want anyone to think she needs to be protected due to small build. She is sensitive to the thought of others saying she can't do things and will often set out to prove them wrong.
History:
Kithood: Larksong's mother and father both vanished before she was old enough to really remember them. The void of never knowing bothers Larksong to this day. As a kit she was taken in by an adoptive mother in Stoneclan, Maplethorn. She was always highly motivated to impress Maplethorn, but her adoptive mother could be cold and strict. Very young, Larksong began to have nightmares, seemed to be brought on by a fox attack in the nursery of Stoneclan when Larksong was around 3 moons old.
She couldn't wait to be an apprentice and spent her kithood enjoying more than anything, listening to the elder's share their clan stories. Larksong never felt like she didn't fit in. When she would hear those clan stories, she knew she was right where Starclan wanted her. While Maplethorn had expectations for the kit, Larksong would not rebel. While a part of her was a little intimidated of Maplethorn, she mainly just never wanted to see the disappointment on her adoptive mother's face.
Apprenticeship: During apprenticeship Larksong was her own worse enemy. With how harsh Maplethorn could be, the expectations of her mentor, and Larksong's build up problems within herself, Larksong learned to be self critical and constantly thought she didn't do well enough, despite being well motivated and a quick learner. She would become emotional during training and cried quite often, something her mentor also had no patience for. At night she would get no sleep and would worry the tossing and turning would wake clanmates. She would often sneak out of the den and sit under the moonlight, hoping to avoid waking others.
She also developed a friendship with a fellow apprentice where she felt like he was constantly trying to protect her. Everything from badgers to clanmates that may have had choice words for Larksong, he would step in. At first she liked the attention, but after a while she believed his reasons for protecting her were surface value. She was small, and he believed her to be weak. Even after he explained that wasn't the case, Larksong grew distant and there was great tension in their relationship and still is as the two rarely speak.
Larksong started to miss her parents that she had never really knew, more and more and became distance and depressed. She felt like something had been taken from her and she resented everyone because of it. Her constant anxiety and fits of emotion had prevented her from reaching her goal of becoming a warrior to top it all off. With all of her self doubts during training and the fact that she was constantly lethargic due to her insomnia, she had failed herself. Watching her friends all become warriors before her had been hard. She had wanted to be happy for them, but only felt pity for herself. She had doubted herself so much, she had made all her worries become reality.
With the help of her mentor, she realized that her skills were not the issue. It was her mindset. She spent the next moon making attempts to get to know all her clanmates. She would offer her assistance to every little thing that needed done. She learned to stop and wait before acting when she got emotional, allowing herself to see problems with logic. Maplethorn taught her how to power her emotions into training. She learned to see her adoptive mother with appreciation for all she had done for her. Despite her prickly personality at times she understood it was just tough love. When she would train she would feel less lonely and sad. Her mentor would encourage her to try new things to combat her small size. She became well versed in classic Stoneclan moves and had a great span on leaps despite being small. Even more so, she learned to stay low and use size to an opponents disadvantage. During this time her personality started to flourish and she became more of the cat that she is today. She received her warrior ceremony at 19 moons and couldn't have been more proud of herself. This gave her confidence many cats see in her.
Young Warrior: Over the next five moons Larksong would become more comfortable in her clan. She would be rewarded with an apprentice. Those experiences of training a young cat, brought her much joy and the way she felt when her apprentice became a warrior was overwhelming. It had been the first time she had become emotional in moons. The nightmares started to come less frequently. She would think a lot about having kits some day, but waiting on the right mate was hard. While she had almost taken mates multiple times, some believe that she has commitment problems. With her compassionate and supporting values she becomes close to others easily, but has a hard time being completely open. She tended to get cold feet anytime a relationship would grow serious. The couple toms in Stoneclan that experienced this with her have varying opinions because of it.
Recent Warrior: Over the past 6 moons much of Larksong's life has been calm, despite the nightmares starting to come more often. She still dreams of having kits but has put that on hold while she offers herself up for anything Stoneclan may need. Her current motivation is helping her clan and putting her best paw forward and looks forward to being a mentor again sometime soon.
RP Example: Just in case I do want to apply for something someday with Larksong: I've included an RP Sample.
Larkpaw lightly rolled to her side and gazed around the dark apprentice den. Her head was filled with worries that wouldn't let her rest. She didn't want to wake the entire den screaming for the third time this moon. She couldn't possibly live through that embarrassment again. She slipped out, quiet on her paws, and without a sound padded out and sat outside the den. She sat there for a while looking up at the moon in wonder at all its secrets. Is this what Starclan intended? She was meant to never sleep again? She thought about her mentor and what he had told her.
'Larkpaw I don't know what you think is going on here, but you are sabotaging yourself. Your training has been fine. You have great potential, all you need is practice. When you constantly say you're going to fail, you get all hyped up and it clouds your judgement. When is the last time you ate? Let's not even speak of when you last actually slept and got real rest. If you can't get a hold of yourself you'll watch the other's ceremony as Larkpaw.'
She hadn't felt like training since, she was being stubborn. She knew he wanted her to do well.
Her thoughts were broken when she heard soft paws behind her. Quickly snapping her head around to see Violetpaw and Mousepaw. They sat down on each side of her. She turned to Violetpaw, her long fur flowing in the breeze. Larkpaw sighed, but was glad they were there. "Did I wake you again tossing and turning?" Larkpaw asked feeling a bit defeated. "No." Violetpaw replied in a shallow tone, her amber eyes meeting Larkpaw's emerald gaze for just a moment.
Mousepaw had enough of it. First their argument after the last clan meeting and then the screaming in the middle of the night and now Larkpaw didn't seem to want anything to do with her friends at all. He was over her silence. "What are the nightmares about, Larkpaw?" he practically demanded, his voice deeper then it had seemed in previous moons. They would all be moving up rank soon, but Larkpaw suspected she wouldn't be included, just sinking her deeper into the hole she had been finding herself lost in.
Larkpaw looked at both of the other cats, stopping for a moment to gather her thoughts before she spoke. She wanted to scream out for help. Wanted to tell Violetpaw and Mousepaw about the bumps in the night that kept her up. About the darkness so late at night, as she padded in silence around camp, avoiding sleep. It wasn't just that she couldn't fall asleep. It was that she didn't want to. She knew these were the same cats that her tossing and turning would keep up all night in the den. She wanted to tell them that as she would drift off, she would already be beating herself up. Full of regrets. She wanted them to know that every night she was greeted with visions of death and terror. Orange and red flames of fire and the screeching of other cats. Sounds of helplessness and horror. Larkpaw would feel like her ears were about to bleed. She would swear she could smell the stench of burning fur. Somtimes she would find herself unable to awake at all. Stuck inside the nightmare with the screaming. Other times she herself would wake up yelling out loud for all to hear. Eyes locked on her as her fur felt warm and clammy. The eyes pierced through her skull. She would be so uncomfortable from embarrassment.
She stopped herself. She couldn't say anything. Nothing ever helped. All saying anything ever did was tarnish her reputation and leave her with more questions than answers. Nobody knowing had ever helped her and she didn't care to share that information with anyone, especially Mousepaw.
Were You Referred? No, I literally googled until it finally got me here. Lol.
