Prove yourself to yourself, not others.
Sunripple had decided to get up early that morning. He wasn't on patrol or anything. Through luck or good fortune, Silverstar and Emberlight rarely called upon him to join early morning patrols.
Not that he would have a problem with it if he was. Just another way of serving his clan, being the best warrior he could be. Making his mother proud each and every day.
The warrior's den full of slumbering bodies had been very loud - most of the cats, he swore to himself, snored just to annoy him and disrupt his sleep - and it felt very stuffy in there. So he decided to go for an early morning swim.
Clear his head, ready himself for the day ahead of hunting and patrols - no mentor training, he'd not been given an apprentice to tutor quite yet.
He had nothing but time.
He loved being out at this time in the morning. It was so peaceful, so bright, so cold. The sun, just peeking out over the horizon, promised a good day; it was warm and full of hope.
Striding along with purpose, Sunripple soon arrived upon his destination, the river.
Without even hesitating, he jumped straight in to the water, allowing his muscles to relax and not fight the current. Soon he started to tread water, swimming slowly around, allowing the motion to warm his muscles despite being submerged in the water.
Idly, whilst swimming, he wondered if anything fun would happen today.
