Sootwhisker
30 Moons, StoneClan Warrior
Sootwhisker was content. There was no other word to describe how she was feeling in that moment. The sunhigh sun was chasing away the chill from last night, a sure sign that better weather would be coming. She was rolling around in the moss, enjoying the softness of it under her as she played.
She almost felt like a kit again. Back when she had no responsibilities. Back when all she ever wanted to do was play with Meadowkit and Kestrelkit - no - Meadowflight and Kestrelstar.
Back when she could see.
She never regretted her course of action, attempting to save Beetlekit at the cost of her eyesight, but every so often, thoughts would flit through her mind that reminded her of the stark reality of the life she was now living.
She'd never see the sky, nor the moss that lined her nest, nor her clanmates. Never again.
Thankfully her sense of smell had improved since the accident.
Outwardly, she made for a funny sight; a fully grown cat rolling in the gentle-scented moss, almost as if a kit would play with a ball of moss. But her thoughts were full of turmoil as she worked through them, slowly but surely coming back to herself, slowly but surely working everything out so that she'd be able to go back to the happy-go-lucky cat she normally was.
She'd been spending a lot of time recently fighting with her thoughts like this.
A particular cat crossed her mind - Kestrelclaw. She'd had hardly any time to spend with him recently - he was always out on patrol or hunting or other things that would mark him as a productive, contributing member of the Clan.
All the things she'd never be able to do properly ever again.
She decided, then, that she wanted to see him. Spend some time with him.
So she approached the warrior who had accompanied her to the mossy meadow, Rowanleaf. She asked her, ever so nicely, to go and see whether he'd come to meet with her.
Her wishes passed on, with a flick of her tail, Rowanleaf bounded away back to camp to see if she could find him.
Now, just to wait and see. Or... well... scent.

I should have seen those signs all around me
But I was comfortable inside these wounds
