I hear the wind across the plain,
A sound so strong, that calls my name

It had been raining off and on since the sun disappeared from the sky the previous night. Though each outbursts from the sullen, swollen clouds didn't last long but frequent enough that it left the ground soggy to the touch. The scent of mud slowly starting to rise as paws trampled the soft ground as they went about their daily duties.

An ear flickered at the lessening sounds of dripping before it went silent altogether outside the warm and protection of the den walls. Pale green pools narrowly opened for a moment, before widening as they adjusted to the dilute tabby's surroundings. A yawn parting the molly's jaws for a moment before her fangs lightly clacked together.

The young warrioress was curled up in her own nest, but was happily snuggled up against the pale form of her mother, Cloudyfeather. Though it wasn't required of her yet, the younger she-cat had been going back and forth between the Warrior's den and the Nursery the last few nights, attempting to get used to the inevitable change.

Windspirit was a mother-to-be, a future queen of Lightningclan as the she-cat was expecting her first litter of bright, bouncing kits. The thought alone caused her heart to soar within her chest, even more so when she saw the elation within her mate's eyes once she informed Leopardheart. 

She was still early on, though there was a slight swell to her belly and a certain chunkiness forming within her already round face, but the brilliant light within her soft gaze was more than enough to express the feelings of the near mute she-cat.

Shifting within her nest, Windspirit rose to her paws slowly before giving a quick stretch. Turning, the young she-cat gently ran a prickly tongue over the slightly swollen area of her growing stomach, a purr quickly rising within her throat.

I can't wait to meet you, my little ones.

The thought was clear within her bright hues, though silent upon her mouth as Windspirit turned to softly nuzzle Cloudyfeather before the pale tabby slid her way from the Nursery and into the muggy atmosphere of Lightningclan's open camp. 

While she wanted more than anything to race through the moorland grasses down towards Treeclan's territory, Windspirit was well aware that she had to be careful now that she was expecting. 

Though, because she still had restless paws and the need to race her namesake, Windspirit was still allowed to join border patrols to keep her busy. And it was practically impossible for her to sneak out at night like she used to do before stumbling into this predicament.

Not that she wouldn't want it any other way. Despite the fact that her mate, Leopardheart, resided in another clan, Windspirit was over the moon. She absolutely adored the handsome, Bengal tomcat with striking yellow pools, and she was beyond thrilled to bring his kits into the valley. 

Turning her attention towards the camp entrance, delight flickered within those mossy pools as she spotted a few cats gathering and ready to head towards the borders before another rain shower fell upon their heads. Nimble paws quickly led Windspirit forwards, her purr still resonating within her throat as she neared. 

Mind if I join? The question was silent upon her mouth, but clear within her gaze as she tilted her head.

BRIARPAW

SHE QUIETLY EXPECTED GREAT THINGS TO HAPPEN TO HER, AND NO DOUBT THAT'S ONE OF THE REASONS WHY THEY DID.

I t was all Briarpaw could do not to scurry into the relative safety of the apprentices' den behind her or even the elders' den. Yeah, she'd put up with the elders' den to escape a thunderstorm - that was a no-brainer. Instead, she'd been called out on this patrol, and she intended to sigh and be dramatic and mournful every minute of it. Still, at least it was a border patrol and not a hunting patrol; she would not enjoy trying to find whatever psycho rabbit was out there when there was clearly a storm on the way. She could feel it in the air, as any cat ought to be able to, plus the sky looked to be positively glowering down at them. Briarpaw let out her first sigh of the patrol before it even properly started, just before she turned and caught the eye of a young warrior emerging from her den. She recognized her immediately as Windspirit, one of the she-cats whom she'd shared a den with in her earliest days as an apprentice. She'd liked her well enough, though Great StarClan was she quiet. Briarpaw was used to filling up most of a conversation, but she wasn't used to leading all of it. Still though, she couldn't bring herself to dislike the silver tabby. She raised her tail in greeting at Windspirit, waiting for her to approach before speaking up. "As long as you don't mind getting rained on today, you should definitely join us," she proclaimed, not even looking around at the warriors in her company who technically had the say in the matter. She rarely answered to any cat except Lynxfire, and anyone else who happened to intimidate her.

[Fae Magic]

The dampness hung heavy in the air from the rain they recently had during the season. The earth was still wet and soggy from their recent rain fall; on a normal day this wouldn't be so bad but with the changing season the rain combined with it just made it irritating. But when is the white and ginger tom not irritated. It was his middle name just as much as temper was his first. Large paws sank into the moist earth beneath the weight of him and the mud slipped between his toes and pads making the tom cringe in disgust. Today was a rather bad day for him; he didn't get much sleep again but that wasn't anything new to him. He never slept, probably didn't help his temper either. He could often be found outside no matter the weather to stare up at the sky as if searching for something; a sign maybe. Who knew, no one understood or felt inclined to get close enough to know him personally outside of casual pointless chit chatter with the warrior. But he was a strong and dedicated warrior who didn't often question certain cats within the clan because he honestly knew his place even if he was a hot head who loved picking fights just cause he was that sadistic enough. So, he didn't argue with the older deputy when Owlmind stopped him on his way towards the dens for a nap to tell him he was assigned to a patrol to check the borders. His dark amber eyes barely glanced at her as he nodded and slowly made changed his direction to make his way towards the entrance of camp.
One look at the large figure hunched over like he hated the world was enough of a deterrent when it came to speaking to him. Russet-Tail was definitely not the type of cat who liked to talk about meaningless things. If it didn't concern him he didn't want to deal with it. But he was observant; as his dark amber eyes fixed sharply on each face of his patrol party his cold unyielding glare seemed to almost soften when they landed on the youngest of the group; Briarpaw one of LightningClan's spunkiest apprentices. She reminded Russet-Tail of himself a little bit when he was younger. A secret that not alot of people knew unless they new the large tom from birth was that he had a soft spot for the younger generation. The apprentices and kits of his clan. Some would spectate it was because they reminded him of the innocence of this world. Others might say it's because they were entertaining to watch and they wouldn't fight with him. But those who knew Russet-Tail would tell you his behavior and thoughts of the apprentices and kits of the clan border lined obsessive and possessive at the same time. Unlike the cold shouldered and temperamental warrior he was to others; he seemed to have a bipolar soft spot for the younger generation. That stemmed from the trauma he experiences as a young tom due to his sister's death. 
Ever since his sister passed away due to her weak immune system that made her unhealthy and weak all the time to the point of being useless to the clan; her brother had changed since then but he must have taken an oath to himself because despite his cruel intention when it came to the world; he never turned his back on his clan; especially the younger versions of it. 

His head tipped down in a single nod in greetings to the others before turning to look over at Windspirit who just arrived. Since when was she allowed to leave camp? Of course she was still capable of at least doing patrols but Russet-Tail didn't find it safe for her to leave camp with her expecting kits. Of course, he had a soft spot for the queens and expecting queens all the same. He barely held in his sigh as he watched her join their group; she was a sweet little thing and he had been watching out for her along with the others often when he came to give them prey. He gave her a nod of greeting before turning to Briarpaw who spoke up seemingly impatient to leave for this patrol. A small smirk twitching at his lips as he spoke up in response. 

"Anxious to be on your way are you Briarpaw?" he questioned looking towards the camp entrance. "Me too." he confessed. "Keep your senses alert at all times; who knows how things are out there now with the seasons changing tempers." he muttered before looking towards Windspirit. 

"Keep close and don't stray. No one wants you to get hurt. If we do not encounter another clan we just had a good rainfall and Mother Nature is not always kind. Don't want to slip and fall." he offered her a strained smile showing that it was obvious that he did not smile often with how awkward the tilt of his mouth was before he turned and made his way from the camp clearing and into the territory expecting the others to follow. Or not follow, it honestly didn't matter all too much to him. He wasn't leading the patrol like a patrol leader but he was anxious to get this over with.
