Splash of Leaping Trout tribe of forgotten waters This was it. The moment she had been waiting for, the moment when she would step beyond the confines of the cave walls and begin her training as a cave-guard. So why, then, did she feel so afraid? She dug her claws into the rock slope that led down to the plunge pool below the waterfall, a sheer fear pulsing through her fur. She was irritated at herself for being afraid. She owed it to Dusk and Snow to prove that she was brave enough to do this, she owed it to the whole Tribe. But still, all she could think of was the cawing of crows.
"Is everything okay there, Splash?" The calm voice meowed directly behind her, and she jumped at its closeness. Lizard that Skitters Across Stones was a broad-shouldered, muscular tabby feline with wide green eyes that seemed to reflect the waterfall itself. "It's okay to be nervous, you know." The striped cave-guard murmured kindly, resting her tail tip on Splash's shoulder. "But remember; you've got a whole Tribe of cave-guards to learn from. Someday, you'll be the one passing on your skills to new to-bes." Her words calmed Splash's initial panic, and she turned her gaze out towards the mountain slopes, which she could now see looming above and beyond her like great beasts. "Okay." She meowed firmly. "I'm ready." Lizard purred warmly in approval. "Alright, let's go meet with the others."

Strut of Ring-Necked ROOSTER 27 Moons Cave-Guard Tribe of Forgotten Waters It took Rooster longer than he'd cared to admit to notice Splash's absence. "You got all that, pipsqueak?" He threw a glance over his shoulder, expecting to see a starry-eyed eager to-be hanging on his every word. Instead, he found a pebble Song had yet to snatch up (or had discarded because of some reason only she would know) and the faded pawprints of yesterday's hunting party.
"Splash?" He backtracked a few steps, green eyes widening to take in as much of his surroundings as he could. Not by the oasis, not by the tree, not by the-- "there you are." Splash hadn't made it past the cavern entrance. Not so much as a whisker. Instead, the fluffy little kitten was frozen in place with Lizard trying to coax or reassure her that everything was fine.
Rooster exhaled. What a mouse! There was no room for that kind of fear or hesistancy in the life of a Cave-Guard. "Snap out of it, Splash!" He projected his voice to the cave's opening, thick tail raised and beckoning her over. "We've got work to do! You want to be a Cave-Guard, don't you? Well Cave-Guards don't just squat there day-old bird-dung!" The stocky tom chuckled at his own joke. Day-old bird-dung. Good one.
Splash was his first to-be, and he had to do a good job. Which meant she had to do a good job. Rooster eyed her like a shepherd eyed a wayward sheep, wondering if he'd have to nip at her heels to get her to keep pace with the others. Tribe of Forgotten Waters, 64 Moons, Cave-Guard He squawked. Well and truly squawked as he hollered something to his To-Be. Claws complained against unforgiving stone as every muscle in her shoulders tensed where she'd halted in the shadows near the cavern entrance. The dark ginger she-cat had been expecting to escape before too much bustle began in the heart of the Tribe's home. That way, she could get some peace and quiet, hold onto a fragment of sanity before the remainder of her air-headed, good for little Tribe mates set upon tearing it all to pieces. And instead, she got this.
If only she could get him alone. Edge a little closer, when no prying eyes could see her. She would run her claws through his skin so he would understand the discomfort he had imparted upon her with his voice alone. If she could just steal a moment of his time, she would reduce him to little more than a pulp, have him beg for mercy beneath her paws as she threatened to cut his tongue from his very jaws. Oh, what blissful silence she would be greeted with if he could no longer speak. But why stop there, what if she went a little further? Would anyone truly notice if he were to just disap-
"Rooster, baby." Came the honey sweet voice as her easy strides carried her from her previously hidden position. A thick tail danced slowly behind her as the stocky-built she-cat trotted forward on surprisingly light paws. Her maw was twisted into an easy and bright smile as her green eyes swept over the larger Cave Guard. "You're giving your dear sister a run for her pebbles with the volume of your voice so early in the morning. I thought our job was to protect the Tribe, not wake it all at once~" She purred as she brushed passed him, her sleek fur tickling his as she squeezed by.
"As for you..." She mused, her focus shifting to the youth Rooster was trying his best to coax out into the open. "You're clogging up the entrance, darling~ Why such worry? You have a big tom like Rooster to protect you from any harm. Besides, before you know it, you'll be more than capable of defending yourself from even the biggest of bads. There's more to strength than size, hm? Chin up, and paws forward, little pebble~" She meowed, her voice light and lilting as she weaved through the two of them to reach her outside destination.
Once she had passed the two other cats, and their gazes were firmly set upon her back, her features collapsed, that light smile dropping into a silent snarl. Her eyes glinted dangerously as she continued forward, not deigning to stop. That sniveling pathetic brat was Rooster's problem. Despite the mentality of sharing responsibility in the Tribe, until that ball of kitten fluff proved she was worth her time, Rose cared little to waste more breath on her. Cave Guard To-Be or not, weakness was not something she would tolerate. My heart's an artifice, a decoy soul. I lift you up and then I let you go.

[googlefont="Roboto Condensed"] Splash of Leaping Trout tribe of forgotten waters She could taste the crisp mountain air on her tongue, the cloud cover offering the valley some relief from the swiftly dissipating heat from snow-melt season. She steeled herself against her misgivings and doubts, against the distant memory of the carrion breath of squawking scavengers. Her golden-green eyes flicked towards her guide, who had raised his head to holler at her with such force that had there been more snow, he might have triggered an avalanche. "Snap out of it, Splash!" His voice boomed, stern and scolding. "We've got work to do! You want to be a Cave-Guard, don't you? Well Cave-Guards don't just squat there day-old bird-dung!"
A surge of annoyance struck Splash, and she shot the large brown tom a smouldering glare from the safety of the cave entrance. "Okay, okay, keep your fur on." She muttered with a slight roll of her eyes. Lizard shot her a reproachful look that said "don't bad-mouth your guide", to which Splash only responded with a sigh. She twitched her tail and stepped out into the world, the rare glimpses of sunlight dappling her golden and brown fur. A stealthy shape sidled into her awareness, the vivid red pelt of Rose. Having sufficiently berated Rooster, Rose turned her smile on Splash, her tone sweet as honey. "As for you..." She purred, and though her words were ones of great encouragement and reassurance, there was something in her eyes that Splash didn't quite like. It was like wading through water where you couldn't quite see your paws, and your toes brushed something sharp and pointed, like a rock or a shell... but when you sought it, it was gone, the murky mud concealing it. Whatever prick of instinct Splash had felt looking into Rose's eyes was like that, something she didn't quite grasp.
"I'm not afraid." She meowed sharply, eyes locked with those amber-flecked green eyes. "I won't need protecting, I'm not stupid." She said it to seem impressive, but she also said it to convince herself to take those next few steps forward into the mountains. She trotted to catch up with Rooster, her heart hammering in her chest. It was a whole new world now, and she had to let these cats teach her to navigate it. Lizard followed behind, head tilted slightly upward to keep a watchful eye on the clouded skies. I got spirit I got wings I got fire in my lungs

Strut of Ring-Necked ROOSTER 27 Moons Cave-Guard Tribe of Forgotten Waters For all the laser-focus Rooster tried to apply to Splash - his concentration like a sun beam trying to burn a hole through a leaf - nothing could derail his attention faster than the brush of silky soft she-cat fur against his own. Green eyes widened like full moons, her scent tickling his nose as he stared unabashedly at the older Cave-Guard. She was strong. Beautiful. And she smelled really good.
Of all the cats he competed with for the distinguished rank of Lead Cave-Guard, Rose with Crimson Petals was probably the only one he could accept getting the title in place of him. Her words tickled his ears like downy feathers, and his expression was the grin of an oaf in the presence of royalty, the actual tease registering far less than the brief bit of contact between their fur.
And then Splash yanked him out of the clouds and brought him crashing back down to reality. He cleared his throat loudly, stern expression returning. "Good! You can't be stupid and expect to be a Cave-Guard for very long. Follow me."
He continued on the path he'd started before Splash's hesitance had interrupted him. Though the she-cat was his charge, Rooster's pace slowed a little until his gait was closer to matching Rose's. He puffed out his chest, wanting her to see how strong and brave and capable he was. In as confident a tone as he could muster, Rooster spoke up. "So, uh... Rose, we should take him to the Hidden Meadow where they can practice defense stances and hone their reactions." He keenly watched her face, privately hoping for approval of what he thought was a very good plan.
With Rose guiding Stone, surely she'd be into the idea of allowing the siblings to train together. After all, competition was a great motivator. Step back I'm goin' in I'm crankin' up on the throttle This is how legends are made Art by Syman Kaye

Snake Sunning on Rocks - Tribe of Forgotten Waters - 54 Moons - Tom - Cave-Guard
-- There was the distant sound of a bird twittering in Snake's ear. The tom's head tilted, listening to this. There was a twitch of a whisker here and there, but he didn't move much more to keep track of the prey sounds. It wasn't his position to hunt them, but there was an itch in his paws to move. It was a struggle not to be impatient and to hold in the urge to start pacing. It felt like they were late, and it seemed to fit the nervous energy that he was trying to keep tamped down if everything and everyone seemed to fall into the struggle of keeping his head straight. As if it was their fault. It seemed like it was, just because they all seemed so ... slow. But no matter. He'd chew out Rooster when he got here. To-Be's were supposed to be on time to things, at least that was how it felt to Snake. The To-Be might have been the one doing the training, and others were along for the ride, but it seemed to Snake that he had to release some of the shifting energy out of his paws somehow. Chewing out Rooster when he got this far along the path seemed like it would be a good way, even though Snake was sure he wouldn't actually managed to do it. He caught the scent of cat first. He'd been careful to keep downwind for the most part, so he would be sure when others were coming. He felt the press of attention growing already. Soon he'd have something else to do. Snake's tail flickered and he took a step forward, tasting the air to be sure of who it was. Rose, Splash, Rooster, and a pawful of other cave-guards it seemed. More might turn up, but it seemed like those were the scattering of cats for now. He'd gotten ahead of them and much early compared to the others it would seem. He wanted to call out about it, but he resisted. Instead he slowly stepped forward until he was within view, tail held high in greeting. "Hello Splash. Rooster. Rose," he said, picking a couple of the cats to greet out of the cats. There was a curtness to his voice that wasn't usually present. But he still dipped his head. Then he raised his head again and looked at Splash, waiting to see if the To-Be had anything to say.
