APPEARANCE
Appearance Summary: Very large and very fluffy calico she-cat with brown-amber eyes
Maplethorn is, in short, huge and intimidating. Much larger than your average cat, both in actual size and in fur mass, it isn’t hard to tell that she could easily crush a smaller cat if she wanted to. A good portion of her body underneath all that fur is muscle, giving her the strength to take on anyone who dares to challenge her.
A majority of her pelt is made up of long and bushy fur, her neck mane, chest, stomach, and tail being the primary spots where the fur is longer and fluffier. She has shorter fur on her face and the bottom half of her legs that is still relatively dense, giving her great protection from the cold.
In terms of the appearance of her abundance of fur, she is a patched calico, most of her body being covered in white fur while there are larger patches of calico on her face, back and hindquarters, and her tail. On her face, the orange and black markings cover both ears, her forehead, and smaller branches around her eyes, ending at her nose. The patch on her back is mostly solid orange and black and runs along her spine, ending at the base of her tail. The base of her tail itself is white, but the rest of her tail is covered in orange and black with only a few small spots of white.
Her face, somewhat interesting in shape around her muzzle, is one that is often seen with an irritated expression and narrowed eyes. Her whiskers are white, but are hardly visible in front of her white pelt, her nose is a dark red, and her eyes are a dark shade of amber-brown.

PERSONALITY
Maplethorn is, as her given suffix might suggest, a very prickly she-cat when it comes to personality. She is very matter-of-fact in her thinking and speaking and isn’t afraid to say what’s on her mind. She doesn’t care about hurting someone’s feelings or giving someone the brutal truth, even if that means they will think negatively of her as a result. She cares not for what others think of her and will not change for anyone, regardless of who it is.
It is very easy to find out that it doesn’t take much to irritate her, for her short-temper has no bounds. She is quick to fight back, both verbally and physically, and will not take any sass or insult from another cat, which can at times get her in trouble. She will scold any cat for their actions if she sees them as a mistake, whether it be a decision that the other makes or something they say. She has even been known, on rare occasions, to tell a cat that they are horrible at their job or don’t deserve to be in the position they are, whether it be Warriors, Apprentices, or even Queens. She chooses how she wants to judge someone and sticks with it, even if those around her don’t think the same.
Even though her personality would suggest that she is disliked or doesn’t have many friends, she is often given respect for her dedication and loyalty to both her role and to the clan. She will protect any of her clanmates, even if they aren’t on her good side, and would never abandon someone in need, as long as they are from Stoneclan. She takes her role in the clan very seriously and will never let anyone tell her otherwise. She will take in any kits that need a family, any kits whose parents don’t have time to raise them or don’t wish to, and will sometimes take on the role of a mother figure to younger Apprentices who are going through a tough time. She defends any and all Queens, even if she isn’t fond of them or their parenting, and would die before she ever let any cat get near the clan’s kits.

HISTORY
Family:
Gingerjaw - Mother - Alive - Senior Warrior - NPC
Driftsplash - Father - Alive - Senior Warrior - NPC
Thistlejump - Sister - Alive - Warrior - NPC/Adoptable
Briarkit - Daughter - Stillborn at birth
Rushkit - Son - Stillborn at birth
Rapidfang - Ex-Mate - Alive - Warrior - NPC
Kithood: Maplekit was born into Stoneclan to Gingerjaw and Driftsplash alongside her sister Thistlekit. Both she-kits were pretty large in size when they were born, Maplekit being the bigger of the two, and had it not been for their own mother’s size, she likely wouldn’t have made it during the birth. But Maple’s family was known for having quite a few large she-cats, the toms typically being smaller than their mates or siblings. Both Maple and her sister took after the larger size that came with being born a she-cat in the family, though their personalities were quite different.
Maple was much more aggressive and angry as a kit, going all in during play fights and growing mad when treated like a baby. Thistle was much more friendly and outgoing, putting up with her sister’s attitude. Both of them were very eager to become Apprentices before they were even 5 moons.
Apprenticeship: When she did become an Apprentice, Maplepaw was given to Hailsoar as a mentor. Out of all the cats she could have been given to, Hailsoar was likely a good pick. She was very patient with Maplepaw and tried to have her Apprentice use her anger against training rather than other cats. The main way that Maple was kept calm was by wearing her out, which did work. It didn’t get rid of her irritable personality, but it still helped her chill out a little bit as she got older.
Warrior: When she became a Warrior, she was given the name Maplethorn because of her personality. After a few moons of being a Warrior and just living everyday normally, she began to notice that she had a particular tom who was, in a way, stalking her. It took a moon or two before she really noticed, but it was he who stepped forward first. Rapidfang, a cocky and headstrong Warrior of the clan. He claimed that he had been watching her for a while and that she intrigued him. He was very clearly interested in her, but she didn’t return these feelings. There were multiple times when he actively seeked for her to be his mate, but even if she had been interested, he kept asking at the worst possible times.
The first time was right as Greencough was taking over the camp, so she didn’t give him an answer. The next time was right after Lightningclan had taken back the Sunstones, causing Hawkstar to lose a life. It was a moons after that happened when she grew annoyed with him and finally agreed, the two becoming a sort of dysfunctional pair.
Due to her own desire to have kits, she ended up expecting not too long after they became mates. Unfortunately, when she was due, both of her kits in the litter were stillborn. This sent her into a sort of temporary depression, closing herself off from both Rapidfang and the rest of the clan. She wished to stay in the nursery to recover from the loss of her first kits and was given permission to do so. She stayed in the nursery with the other queens for about a moon to recover, though still found herself upset when she went back to her Warrior duties.
After she returned to being a Warrior, there were multiple things that happened that changed her in the coming moon. The first being that her mate began to become...extremely aggravating. Unlike her, it seemed as though Rapidfang hadn’t even been affected by the loss of their first litter together. He started nudging and hinting that they should have another litter to “make up for the first one”. The day that he said that to her in the middle of camp, she attacked him. She didn’t try to kill him, but multiple other cats had to remove her from him. In short, she full on whooped his a** in the middle of camp. Because of this, the two obviously weren’t mates anymore and were not to go anywhere near each other for a while.
Only a few days after the fight, there was an attack on the camp while she was out on patrol; a fox had gotten into camp and attacked the nursery. Due to her connection with the nursery, the Queens, and the kits that were in there at the time, Maple didn’t want to leave. She felt guilty that she hadn’t been there to defend the nursery. After asking for Hawkstar’s permission, Maplethorn spent about a moon or two in the nursery. She was able to continue going on occasional patrols if she was needed, but she spent a good portion of her time either in the nursery or out finding supplies for the nursery. She even spent some time with the Medicine Cat, helping look for herbs and get them all back to camp in case anyone, any Queens or kits in particular, should need treated for something.
After that moon was over, she returned to her Warrior duties, though she still chose to go to the nursery at night rather than stay there for good. There has only been once when she spent another portion of time staying within the nursery, which was when there was another Greencough outbreak, making sure that no kits or Queens went around cats that had caught the sickness, or at least attempting to. Once the illness had mostly disappeared, she returned back to her duties again.
She does want to try having kits again, but she has more of a mistrust towards toms because of Rapidfang, so she is unsure if it will happen. Even if she doesn’t end up having kits of her own again, she still considers the clan’s kits as her own and is always willing to take in kits that need someone to care for them.
