Dewfrost had taken initiative in something he wished she hadn't. She'd gone to the border of LightningClan and asked if Redstar might come out to meet Silverstar at StarClan's claws for a meeting in a neutral place. She'd left very specific instructions and had even waited until she'd gotten a time set for the meeting before she'd gone back to camp and told him what she'd done. On one paw he wanted to strangle her, on the other it probably needed to happen. Dewfrost was going to be choosing an apprentice soon, and she wanted the help of older and more experienced Medicine Cats to help as she made the transition to mentor. And she had friends among the other medicine cats. But the deed was done, the time was set, and he wasn't about to stand up another of the leaders. He didn't know Redstar's temperament well enough to judge if the other tom would see such a dismissal as an insult or not.

So he'd gone, and now sat atop one of the boulder's looking out at the pristine snow, his silvery pelt almost glowing with the moon over his head and the snow around him. He felt tranquil, and took a deep breath of the cold air as he awaited the arrival of the leader of LightningClan.

    Redstar was rather surprised that Dewfrost had sought to arrange a meeting between Silverstar and himself, RainClan wasn't known to interact with the other clans very often. The fiery pelted tom would be lying if he said he knew what the meeting pertained to, the clans didn't even share a border after all, and that left Redstar with little choice but to attend. There would be no other way to sate his curiosity and it would be rude to stand up Silverstar after having initially agreed to the meeting. Upon approaching StarClan's Claws it was apparent that Silverstar was the first to arrive. The tom was already perched high upon a rock, and Redstar offered a polite greeting as he approached along with a dip of his head. "Good evening Silverstar, you look well." Now standing below the tom he carefully took a seat in the snow and turned his attention upwards as he questioned him. "What is it I can do for you on this brisk evening?"

The pale pelted tom startled a little when the other spoke to him, flashing a weak smile before leaping down from the rock he'd perched himself on. Some scout he'd ever be, not able to hear a cat approach over crunchy, slushy ground. At least RainClan and LightningClan weren't enemies. "First I have to apologize for my medicine cat. Dewfrost tends to take matters into her own paws when she thinks it'll be faster and more beneficial to our clan." He shrugged. "Mainly the meeting is to discuss possibly allowing your medicine cat and mine to meet. Dewfrost is seeking to visit with the other medicine cats to help her train an apprentice. She's fully trained, but she's nervous with an apprentice of her own and I think just wants to have the assurance that she won't screw it up. Her mother and I haven't been able to assure her that she'll do fine, so this was her solution."

Silverstar flicked the ground with his tail and sat down, wrapping the fluffy mass around his paws. He looked back up at the sky, his blue eyes far away as he considered things before taking a deep breath and addressing the other leader. "I'm not sure well is a good description, but I'm managing." He didn't feel like there was a threat here, so revealing that slight truth wasn't a big deal. He wasn't weak, just a little tired.

    Redstar saw what he thought may have been a slight jump from his fellow leader, but there was a very real possibility that his eyes were playing tricks on him in the moonlight. In a flash Silverstar descended to Redstar's level and began to explain why they were meeting on a cool leaf bare evening. Silverstar began with an apology to which Redstar replied, "It's quite alright, she obviously has what's best for her clan in mind. It's an admirable trait in any cat." And as Redstar continued to listen he found he was quite receptive to the request being made. "LightningClan would be more than willing to help if that's what she wants, better medicine cats help all the clans after all." The final comment made by Silverstar gave Redstar pause however, LightningClan's leader took a moment and processed his companions words before deciding they were likely harmless. "Has the season been getting to you?"

"I appreciate that. We can't offer much in exchange right now since the herbs haven't really come back yet, but we can discuss compensation. And of course, Kindleflare will be protected and any escort allowed to remain at her side as an escort will be with Dewfrost. We'll have to work some logistics out, but I'm glad you think this is a good idea." That was one less thing he had to worry about.

Silverstar's gaze never left the sky, taking slow and deep breaths as he let his mind settle. "Leafbare has never bothered me." His silver plumed tail flicked slowly, a smile tugging at his lips. "It has been a beautiful leafbare. Quiet nights and the morning sun shining like stars on freshly fallen snow. Walking out in the still and the serenity and just for a moment forgetting all my duties." Ears flicked back and the tom finally returned his gaze to the red pelted tom at his side. "Leafbare was fine." A deep sigh, and a quick choice. "I drowned, during the flood."

    Redstar was quick to assure Silverstar that payment as he was implying wouldn't be needed. "I wouldn't worry about any sort of exchange or compensation, medicine cats are called to stand apart from clan politics after all." Pausing for a moment before quickly adding, "Besides, I think a mutual exchanging of herbs would be beneficial for our clans, and our clans could have more diverse stores because of it." After this initial talk of business the conversation took yet another personal turn as Silverstar revealed he had lost a life during RainClan's last flood. Redstar was surprised, he didn't figure he would be privy to such information given they hadn't interacted much in the past. This didn't mean he was going to leave his fellow leader hanging however, and decided to engage with Silverstar rather than distance himself. "I cannot say I know what it feels like, but I am sure I soon will. If I am being honest I am nervous about losing my first life, I don't know how you are supposed to get used to dying." Redstar began, "You would figure being a deputy would help prepare you for eventually being a leader, but it's been a larger change than I could have imagined."

It wasn't about politics when it came to mentioning his lost life, it was more trying to see the temperament of the other leader. Having him mention he'd been deputy before, somehow surprised him. Though it shouldn't have. All leaders started that way.

"I was only deputy a short time. Stormstar was old and ready to step down." He looked back up at the sky, silently wishing for leafbare to linger a little longer as it had soothed him significantly the last few moons. "Why do leaders not prepare their deputies to lose a life? Or at least tell them something so that even if we can't predict or prepare for it we at least know its coming? I know everyone knows it for a fact, but knowing it and hearing about what it can be like from my leader before I took control of the clan would have been nice."
