TREECLAN WARRIOR FINCHCLOUD Got that sunshine in my heart Finchcloud had been pleasantly asleep, curled in his nest as he did every night, comforted by the smell and sound of his Clanmates around him. Dreaming of chasing a squirrel, hurtling along right on its heels- the wind in his whiskers and the cool weather of newleaf around him. He caught it in a last leap, a whirl of teeth and claws, with the yowls of his patrol cheering him on...
Green eyes snapped open, the den suddenly much less quiet as warriors scrambled from their nests at the screech of warning from the guards. NightClan! Attacking in the dark, catching TreeClan unaware. How low could one Clan sink? On the heels of a smaller she-cat, Finchcloud darted from the warriors' den, his paws slipping on snow as he burst into the camp, wide-eyed for just a moment as he took in the wave of NightClan who'd invaded their camp.
A big white tom caught his attention and Finchcloud's gaze pinned on him, his pelt bushing as he gave a hiss, ears back and claws sliding into view. "Get out of our camp!" he snarled, back arched as he squared up to the pale NightClan tom.

Frostjaw nightclan warrior 32 moons "Patience is a virtue." The phrase that so many other clans seemed to live by. So many weaker warriors heeded by this phrase, limiting their own potential.
NightClan was not like that. NightClan's warriors, chosen by StarClan itself, stayed on their toes. Never moving, non-stop, never throwing away any shot that came their way. And if opportunity didn't come sauntering into NightClan warriors' paws, then they went out and seized it.
That was the essence of this assault. Seizing the moment. Sending a message. TreeClan would never forget this battle for generations to come.
And yet, here was Frostjaw, being patient as he waited for the first patrol to go in and draw out the warriors of TreeClan.
Patience was no virtue. It was a necessary evil in times of duress.
Even NightClan's most level-headed and ascetic tom felt his claws pulsating in and out of the earth. He was ready for the blood of TreeClan cats to dirty his fur tonight.
As soon as he heard yowling coming from foreign voices inside the camp, Frostjaw followed Darkstar's powerful form into the fray. It was chaotic. Already, cats from both clans were covered in blood. The sun would rise to a red sky in the morning.
"Get out of our camp!"
Frostjaw's head swiveled around to meet the angry eyes of a large ginger tom. His icy eyes blazed with cold fire as he got into an offensive stance.
"You should consider yourself lucky. You're about to join StarClan's ranks." And with that, powerful hind legs sent Frostjaw flying forward at the tom, claws outstretched.
Frostjaw was almost surprised when he collided into the ginger tom. This TreeClanner was not only large, but dense as well. This might just be a good fight. Blood flew out of where Frostjaw had made contact with the tom, some splattering onto his usually ever-clean coat. Perfect.

TREECLAN WARRIOR FINCHCLOUD Got that sunshine in my heart The NightClan cat was the first to spring, his words still ringing in Finchcloud's ears as the heavy body slammed into him, unsheathed claws catching the ginger tom in the chest. He felt his skin tear under the thorn-sharp claws, felt and saw his blood spray from fresh wounds, spotting the snow-white pelt of the rival tom.
But he couldn't focus on that, and with a screech of mingled pain and fury Finchcloud rolled with the impact, lashing out both front paws at Frostjaw's face, aiming to wound him- he wouldn't be able to fight as well if he couldn't see. At the same time, Finchcloud pushed out with his hind legs, as hard as he could, to push the NightClan tom away, in an effort to have the chance to get back to his feet. "Not if I send you there first," he growled back, tail lashing uncontrollably.

Frostjaw nightclan warrior 32 moons Frostjaw gritted his teeth in pain as claws raked across his face. Now, not only was there TreeClan blood staining his pelt, but his own blood was too contributing to the growing red stain. The tom got Frostjaw right above his eyes, causing blood to run both into them and below them in a tear-like fashion.
Frostjaw was seeing red. Literally. The blood was clouding his vision to a great extent.
Unfortunately for the other tom, Frostjaw was of NightClan, and they didn't purely rely on their vision to function.
Frostjaw opened his mouth and bared his fangs, not only as a sign of aggression, but also to get a taste of where the tom was. He could smell that putrid TreeClanner's blood from across the valley if he had to.
It was time to do what he was named for.
Frostjaw leaped forward again at the tom, his teeth already dripping with his own blood. As he hit his opponent, Frostjaw sank his teeth into the first thing he made contact with and bit down with incredible force. Few cats were known to ever escape his deadly finishing move.

TREECLAN WARRIOR FINCHCLOUD Got that sunshine in my heart It was an unpleasant sensation, skin parting beneath Finchcloud's claws- it wasn't one he enjoyed. But it was unavoidable, and if he didn't do it then he'd be hurt instead. He didn't have a choice but to fight back. His claws raked across the white tom's face, scoring deeply enough to make him bleed, a rivulet streaming into his eyes and dripping off his chin.
He might have thought he'd had a chance, with Frostjaw's sight disabled, but the NightClan cat hardly paused. He parted his jaws to hiss, and Finchcloud replied in kind, ears pinning back in the face of his opponent's display. He wasn't quite as ready for Frostjaw's leap, and though he jerked back he wasn't quick enough to avoid the heavy snap of jaws over his shoulder; Finchcloud couldn't help the ringing screech that broke from him, agony searing into his mind; he flailed back with his free front leg, battering at Frostjaw in an attempt to get him to let go.
--
Hollowpaw was well aware that he was probably going to get into trouble for this. No apprentices had been picked, not for this battle that was happening right in the heart of TreeClan's camp. But he had no intention of missing this: NightClan's biggest strike against their neighbors. And with most of NightClan's warriors at the attack or preoccupied by chatting about it, Hollowpaw had found it easy to slip out and trail along after the attack party. Nobody seemed to have noticed him, luckily, and once the group had begun the attack, he'd jumped at the chance to join in.
And he was quick to spring on the nearest apprentice he saw; a tom only slightly bigger than Hollowpaw was. The TreeClan cat, caught off guard by the weight of Hollowpaw, bucked and squealed and then threw himself over on his side, rolling onto his back and squashing Hollowpaw beneath him. His ribs squeaked, pain rushing through him, and Hollowpaw flailed, pushing the bigger apprentice off with great effort.
"Little scrawny for a NightClan warrior, aren't you?" the TreeClan apprentice mocked, tail flicking back and forth, lips pulled back in a mocking grin. "Come on, little warrior, play with me." One paw lifted, claws unsheathed, and the sharp tips raked along Hollowpaw's muzzle. The tawny-black apprentice gasped, taking a step back, and then again as the apprentice lashed out again. Blood beaded up along Hollowpaw's nose and he struck back, hissing a threat. His claws caught the apprentice on the cheek, and the playful smirk on the other's face vanished as he leapt, tackling Hollowpaw to the ground and holding him there, wide green eyes staring up into the TreeClan apprentice's ugly snarl.

Frostjaw nightclan warrior 32 moons Finchcloud's attempts to kick Frostjaw off of him proved successful, ripping his jaws out of the tom's shoulders. As he was forced back, Frostpaw heard a pop and prayed to StarClan that it was something that would incapacitate Finchcloud. Not that TreeClan's warriors were very able-bodied to begin with.
"Little scrawny for a NightClan warrior, aren't you?"
Frostjaw's attention immediately departed from his current situation. The massive tom inhaled deeply, going past the blood that was covering his nose. And there it was.
Hollowpaw.
The massive tom looked at Finchcloud, who looked to be in pain of his own making. He should have just let Frostjaw finish him off instead of ripping away. "How sad. You don't get to experience the glory of StarClan tonight."
NightClan's ever-composed tom immediately spun around to see none other than his lanky brown-furred apprentice being pinned down by a larger TreeClan apprentice. And just for a breath of a moment, panic flashed through Frostjaw's eyes. But just like that, it was gone. Both apprentices would be dealt with.
In a single bound, Frostjaw was suddenly looming behind the TreeClan apprentice, his eyes cold as death, blood dripping from his jaw. It was only when blood dripped onto the head of the TreeClan apprentice that he looked up at the white warrior, his eyes widening in fear.
It didn't take much for the small TreeClan apprentice to begin begging for his life. Frostjaw took this moment to assess the situation. Looking past the TreeClanner, Frostjaw saw that Hollowpaw had taken a few hits, as droplets of blood were running down his nose. Looking again at the tom cowering below him, Frostjaw saw that his apprentice had actually gotten a decent hit in.
But not good enough.
"Get out of my sight," he commanded, his voice black with apathy. Frostjaw had no intention to maim an apprentice who wasn't even half his size. Where was the honor in that?
As the TreeClan apprentice got up and began to scamper away, Frostjaw delivered a hard kick into his side, throwing him sideways against a tree trunk.
He wouldn't maim an apprentice. But he could always teach them a lesson. Consider it a cross-clan training session.
Looking back to Hollowpaw, a quiet rage seethed behind Frostjaw's icy eyes. "I'm taking you out of camp. Once we get out, you will climb a tree and hide until we come out. Do not go back to NightClan alone."
Some of the blood on Frostjaw's huge maw dripped down onto Hollowpaw. "That apprentice may have hurt you, but he's not the one you should be fearing right now."

Finchcloud yowled again as Frostjaw's fangs tore from his shoulder, the pain of that joined with the pain of his shoulder as it popped alarmingly. The waves of agonizing sensation were sharp enough to cut off the cry as he stumbled backward, away from the big NightClan tom. Through his swimming vision, he watched as Frostjaw spun away, too dazed to see clearly who the tom landed next to.
Hollowpaw squirmed, hind paws with their claws unsheathed pushing into the TreeClan apprentice's belly, only to hitch in a breath as the young tom replied by digging his claws into Hollowpaw's shoulders. His lips drew back to bare his fangs, ears back and eyes narrowed- and then he flinched, his body spinning about and his eyes pinning on the huge white tom, whose pelt was splattered with blood, as the first drops of blood fell upon his head. Hollowpaw's eyes brightened with anticipation as he noticed his mentor, and with the weight of the TreeClan apprentice off, he rolled back to his paws.
Circling the cowering apprentice, Hollowpaw caught his eye and gave him a mocking smirk as he came to a stop at Frostjaw's side. His mentor gave the TreeClan apprentice an order, and as he scurried to obey, the NightClan tom lashed out, sending the young apprentice smacking into a tree. Lifting his head to meet Frostjaw's blue eyes, Hollowpaw grinned, intending to share in the triumph of the attack- Hollowpaw could have done better, but this being his first real battle- he hadn't done too badly, had he?
In the face of Frostjaw's scowl, however, his own grin faded away and he blinked. And then he wilted as his mentor's words rang out, his displeasure obvious in the words and tone; his ears pinned back, eyes dropping to the ground. He was getting the punishment he had anticipated, but he wasn't any happier now that he was getting it. Something struck him between the ears, rolled down his nose and dripped onto the ground at his paws- blood. Frostjaw's blood, from the injuries that ginger tom had given him. Just like Hollowpaw had been injured- and even with his mentor glaring down at him, Hollowpaw couldn't help but feel pride in the scratches that marked this first fight.
Still, he knew there was going to be some retribution from Frostjaw and Darkstar- and he knew he couldn't ignore his mentor. He gave a nod to show he had heard and rose to his paws, staying close to his mentor as the tom guided him from the camp. Frostjaw nightclan warrior 32 moons Frostjaw resisted every urge to pick up Hollowpaw by the scruff and take him out of the camp. That would put too much of a target on both he and his apprentice's backs. A tom who was preoccupied with an apprentice. An apprentice who was easy pickings for any warrior.
"Come now, let's be quick. Practice your stealth." Frostjaw's tone took on the familiar tone of the aloof mentor. What was done was done. There was no point directing his anger towards Hollowpaw now while he was in the middle of a battle. That anger could be saved for an unsuspecting TreeClan warrior.
Frostjaw moved with haste, ducking out of the exit that the NightClan patrol had entered through. Once out, he made sure Hollowpaw was behind him, then kept moving. The cries of battle were not so jarring now that the two toms were a little ways away from the camp. The large tom kept his eye open for a tree that had a fair amount of leaves so as to hide Hollowpaw. The small brown apprentice would be hard to see no matter what, and NightClan's scent was everywhere, so he would hopefully be hard to smell.. Yet still. Thick foliage would put the warrior at a peace of mind.
Frostjaw's gaze rested on a lone weeping willow, its long vines of leaves swaying back and forth, oblivious to the carnage happening nearby. This was the one.
"Climb this. Once the battle is over, I will come find you. Do not come down for anyone except me."
Frostjaw made sure his apprentice made his way up the tree before turning back around and heading into the fray, the taste of TreeClan blood still on his tongue.

Strange, how even with the yowling and the snarls of the fighters, Frostjaw's voice cut right through. Hollowpaw sniffed in a brief second of dissatisfaction at his mentor's reaction to his prowess. Sure, he wasn't supposed to be here, but he'd come anyway, and he'd fought. Couldn't Frostjaw at least show him a shred of pride? Unlike the others who'd obeyed like the meek little mice they were, he'd joined his first battle- right into an enemy's camp! He'd shed blood- his own, too, which was more annoying, but not just his own- and he was only being treated like a kit who'd wandered too far from their mother's nest.
But he followed, because he couldn't do anything else. He stuck close to Frostjaw's side as the two slipped out of TreeClan's camp, the cool night air washing away the worst of the pungent stink of TreeClan cats, and paused next to a tree. Frostjaw ordered him up it, told him not to come down for anyone; Hollowpaw heaved a sigh as he obeyed. He was halfway up the tree when he looked back to see Frostjaw had disappeared, the snowy-white tail just slipping out of sight as his mentor returned to the battle. Hollowpaw turned back to his task, scrabbling his way clumsily up the tree and settling on the lowest branch, his gaze fixed on the entrance.
It didn't take much longer for movement to sharpen his interest, to notice the NightClan cats as they piled out of the fallen tree. On his paws, Hollowpaw met Frostjaw's eyes as his mentor called him down, but a call from Thornscar pulled the big tom's attention toward Darkstar, and he was gone to help his leader.
Hollowpaw eyed the distance between his branch and the ground, leaning down with the intent of trying to descend that way before a wave of dizziness washed over him and he reared back, his gaze flicking again toward the small patrol just as Darkstar was dragged up onto Frostjaw's back; his heart jumped as they started to move off without him. Wait!
Tail flicking frantically, Hollowpaw took a breath and then sprang. He hit the ground heavily, the breath knocked from his chest and pain instantly flashing white-hot up his right foreleg. He managed to push himself upright, trembling at the deep pain and tucking his leg to his chest as he set off as quickly as he could after his Clanmates. He hadn't gone more than a few tail-lengths, however, when a heavy paw landed between his shoulders and he was forced to his belly, the low growl of a cat rumbling in his ears. "Leaving so soon? And you were so eager to get a tour of the camp before."
Jaws closed on his scruff and he was lifted, front paws leaving the ground like he weighed nothing; his jaws gaped and he would have screeched if he could have. Fury bolted through him and he struggled, lashing out as hard as he could as he was carried like a naughty kit back into TreeClan's camp. I'm a soldier till its over I will never fall fearless hearts holding on through the night Hollowpaw NightClan
