Description: Magpie is a calico with short, ruffled fur. She has shredded ears, and multiple scars from fights covering her pelt, the most noticeable ones being on the left side of her face, her back, and her hind leg. Her eyes are blue, the left one being cloudy and blind due to an attack that happened in her youth. She is thin, but muscular, and having grown up in a harsh environment has left her pelt a bit ragged where claws had torn fur out in places. Her tail is long, and so are her whiskers. Her belly, back legs, left forepaw and tail tip are white, as is most of the right half of her face. The only paw that is black is her right forepaw.

History: Magpie was born to the leaders of a group of rogues called the Black Fang, along with her younger sister Hawk. Their names were Coal and Ember, and they valued strength and skill above all else. These things were deemed necessary to survive, for the air in the city was always brown and filthy, and they competed with other rogue groups for territory and the scarce prey available to them. If you weren't strong, or at least clever, you wouldn't last long. Death was a common sight. For the leaders of the Black Fang, it was tradition that the first born was to become leader. This was how it had been for generations before, and that was how it would continue for moons afterwards. If another cat were to kill the current leaders (the leader and their mate) and take over as leader themselves, then they would kill the fallen leader's kits as well. Leaving them to survive would only promote revenge-killing when said kits grew old enough to become a threat, provided they lived to adulthood.
Magpie was born first, and therefore she was deemed to be the next ruler when her parents died. Her younger sister Hawk hated Magpie for it, for she wanted to be leader. As they grew older and began their training at three moons old - cats died young in the city and so training had to begin early to ensure they would survive - it quickly became clear who was the quicker learner; Hawk. Their trainer and caretaker until their sixth moon was a tom named Oreo, a kind elderly tom who looked after them while their parents were busy leading the group. Hawk often mocked Oreo for his age, and the fact that he couldn't move very fast. Magpie, on the other paw, grew close to the tom, and saw him as another parent figure.
Throughout their training, Coal and Ember had become increasingly disappointed in their daughter. They wanted their firstborn to be strong, a skilled fighter and hunter, and able to outwit her enemies. However Magpie was more timid than her sister, and struggled with fighting techniques while Hawk flourished. Her connection with Oreo set her apart from her sister, who saw connections with other cats as a waste of time. Hawk also had a natural affinity for lying, and for manipulation even at a young age. It was around seven moons when Magpie's younger sister decided to do something about the inheritance problem. In Hawk's eyes, as long as Magpie was alive, the calico would just be an obstacle in her way to reaching the top.
Things began happening while on the patrols they were apart of. Small "accidents" which would occur at the strangest times. A loose brick falling from a twolegnest they were passing, a line of silver-thorn hidden where unobservant paws would step, a slip of the claw in their training sessions. All deemed to take Magpie out. Coal and Ember knew, but they did nothing to stop it. It didn't matter if Hawk killed Magpie, or if Magpie killed her sister. In the end, they would have their proper heir, the cat meant to rule in their place.
When they turned 12 moons old, they took The Test, an assessment that all cats must take. Each rogue group had their own different assessment. For the Black Fang, the cat in question must face an opponent in battle and kill them. Those who passed became full-fledged members. Those who didn't were either killed by their opponent, or punished for being a traitor. Hawk passed with flying colors, slaying the cat she fought and gloating about it afterwards. Then it was Magpie's turn. She brought her opponent to his knees, but couldn't deal the final blow, even when her father ordered her to. This was the last straw for Coal. The black tom launched himself at her and attacked her, blinding her left eye in the process. Coal was about to kill her for being a traitor when Oreo stepped in. The elderly tom managed to convince the leader to spare her life, that the group would benefit more if she was alive than dead. Coal accepted, but at a price. Magpie was reduced to a lower ranked fighter, and Oreo was kept prisoner as punishment. Oreo had raised Magpie to be soft, Coal said. And Coal sought to reverse the "damage" that had been done.
12 moons later, Magpie was no longer the timid, shy cat she had been. Her pelt was covered in scars from battles won and some nearly lost. The constant battles and fights she'd participated in had hardened her. She no longer flinched at the sight of blood or injuries. She no longer felt anything at the sight of death. Cats had fallen by her claws and fangs. She hadn't known their names, nor had she cared to know them. Hawk still tried her best to kill her. Even though Magpie was now a lower rank warrior, she was still Coal and Ember's eldest kit. She would be in the right to challenge Hawk for leadership if she chose to and kill her. Which meant she was still a threat in Hawk's eyes, and always would be unless she was dead.
During these moons, Magpie planned. She wanted out of this hellhole, away from her family, away from the cruelness and the death. And she wanted Oreo to come with her. She planned the quickest route out of the city, where to avoid the other rogue territories, which thunderpaths to cross where the other cats wouldn't follow, how to avoid the dog packs that roamed the streets. Then, in the middle of a cold night, when the cats were snuggled into their nests, she made her escape. Quietly leading the elderly tom out of the camp, she was sure she was doing well.
And then a guard woke up. And everything went down in flames.
The pair were chased and hunted, and Oreo was killed despite Magpie's best efforts to stop them. Her heart broken, she fled the city alone. Out of reach of the rogue cats, she was finally safe. She was finally free. But even the thought of freedom, and the sight of the blue sky - which she'd never seen in all her moons - was not enough to lift her spirits. For the first time in a long time, she cried for the only family she had just lost.
Truly alone for the first time in her life, Magpie did the only thing she could do; pick a direction and start walking. Her travels took her far away from the city, into the wilderness. She traveled for several moons. Now she's come across the Clans. She doesn't know what she's going to do, or what might happen.
She only hopes that this new chapter of her life will be better than the last.

Personality:
Positive Traits:
- Fierce- She is fierce in battle, and doesn't back down.
- Likes Kits- She remembers what it was like when she was a kit. Even though she had a rough kithood, she would want other kits to have better lives than what she had. She likes kits, and won't intentionally harm them. But that doesn't mean that she isn't awkward or blunt around them. She doesn't know how to act around them.
- Down to Earth- Humor isn't her strong suit. She's serious a lot of the time, and it takes effort to get her to smile. But if she gets to know some cats well, they may see her crack a smile or hear her tell a small joke to them.
Neutral Traits:
- Honest- She doesn't like to lie. This can be a good thing, or a bad thing depending on who she's talking to. She tells the truth, even if it's harsh. If she thinks you're a stick in the mud, she'll be the one to tell it to your face.
- Paranoid- Magpie is paranoid that bad things will happen to her.
- Awkward- She isn't used to kindness, so whenever someone does something nice for her, she doesn't know how to handle it. This leads to her being a little awkward or maybe not even knowing what to say in return.
Negative Traits:
- Jittery- She is nervous and uncomfortable around cats she doesn't know. This can come off as her being snappy or aggressive.
- Slow to Trust- Due to her history, she has a hard time trusting other cats. She's as prickly as a porcupine until she gets to know someone better.
- Quick to Anger- She has a short fuse, and can become defensive easily.

- Eating birds
- Watching the sun rise

- Winter

- Eating rats
- Not being able to see the sky
