SnowpawSnowpaw ever the excitable ball of energy was on a mission to find Frozenrain. It was a very exciting day for the pure white apprentice. Sorrelclaw had finally agreed that she had gotten good enough at the basics of fighting that she could spar with another warrior without them having to hold back as much and immediately Snowpaw had asked her mother. Frozenrain was her idol and while she adored her father. it was her mum that held a special place in her heart.
The youngest of Hawkstar's kits burst out of the warrior den after speaking with Sorrelclaw and darted to the entrance of the leader's den. Unfortunately, in her excitement, she misjudged a step and ended up tumbling inside her parent's den and landing with a thump of on its inner walls beside the entrance. Straightening herself out with a short whine of pain Snowpaw made her way outside her parent's den, a very sheepish look on her petite face.
Now firmly seated Snowpaw decided it was time to alert her parents that that strangle noise was only her, or even wake them if her accident had not already. " Mum???" she called out timidly, not wanting to face the wrath of awakening her father, no doubt he was exhausted from being so old and leading the clan. Her thoughts made her smile but she covered it quickly with a cough and went back to waiting for the familiar pelt of her mother to appear from the depths of the den. " Mum, Sorrelclaw says I'm ready to learn advanced battle techniques" she added, hoping that showing she had her mentor's blessing would help soften her mother to the idea of training with her, especially since Frozenrain was already Minkpaw's mentor, much to Snowpaw's dislike.
"Mum?? Daddy?" she added, just in case her parents were not in the den at all, their scents were allways strong near their nest so she could never tell. Sorrelclaw had yet to teach her how to properly track cat's by smell, though she did okay with prey most of the time.

Hawkstar may your dreams be larger than mountains A white bundle of fur tumbled into view briefly, backlit by the morning sun as it shone through the entrance. Pale amber eyes blinked in surprise, a sandy-brown head lifting as he prepared to rise. However, just as quickly as it had arrived, the white figure scrambled to her paws and back-pedalled. Chuckling silently to himself, the big tom lay his head back down and closed his eyes, feigning sleep. Three... Two... He counted in his head, tail flicking for the final number just as Snowpaw's voice exploded into existence. Speaking with a sleepy edge (that was perhaps exaggerated slightly so as not to blow his cover), Hawkstar beckoned his youngest daughter in.
"Come in Snowpaw." As the white apprentice obeyed, Hawkstar let his silvered maw part in a yawn, his big frame slowly rolling so he could rise to his paws. Despite the stiffness in his joints, he made a conscious effort to rise smoothly. A sand-brown tail draped over wide paws, StoneClan's figurehead easing into a sit as he beckoned Snowpaw closer. With a warm purr, he ducked his head to rasp his tongue over her ear. "Remember your senses, Snowpaw. Breathe in, part your jaws if you need. Where is mom's scent strongest?" He invited gently.
His own senses told him Frozenrain had exited the den not too long ago; her scent was fresher the closer you were to the entrance. Giving Snowpaw another few moments of testing, he continued. "She went to the dirtplace." He informed her, rising to his paws and flicking her with his tail as an indication she should follow. The old StoneClan tom padded to the den entrance, glancing over his shoulder to ensure his daughter was following him. As he approached the Rock Pile overlooking the camp, Hawkstar wrapped his tail around the young she-cat, sitting himself once more.
Dipping his head so he could whisper conspiratorially to Snowpaw, he rumbled. "Listen carefully... Past the song of birds and droning voices of Clanmates. Listen to the nearby shrubbery as it shuffles in the wind. Find the noise that doesn't belong, and..." He paused, ear flicking forward. "Three, two.... One." His tail tip flicked to the entrance of the dirtplace as a familiar gray and white figure pushed through. With a grin to Snowpaw, he let her wonder whether he had actually heard Frozenrain, or he'd simply been lucky. Waving his tail to his mate as her blue eyes traveled up to the den entrance, the StoneClan figurehead rose out of his seat and nudged his daughter.
"Come now, you'll have to relay your good news again, for mom this time." He called over his shoulder, leading Snowpaw down the descent to the camp floor where they would meet Frozenrain. leader of stoneclan and may you have the courage to scale their summits background image | harley king | @kahani Fawn | table by phoenix

Frozenrain92 Moons // Warrior-Queen // StoneClanCreamy-gray ears pricked, catching the sound of her mate's voice - as pleasant to her as birdsong - upon return to camp. Frozenrain smiled, her heart feeling full and warm at the sight of her family. "I've been looking for you, Snowpaw." The Clan matriarch was quick to reach them, not exchanging no grace for speed, dainty feet carrying her swiftly and surely.
Frozenrain brushed her muzzle against Hawkstar's, purring low and warm. Good morning, my love, her eyes seemed to say, and Frozenrain stayed close, letting their fur gently mingle as she turned her attentions to their youngest and smallest kit.
The juxtaposition in size between Hawkstar and his daughter was... laughable. It tickled her enough to make her purr, relieved that Snowpaw was - despite her diminutive stature - looking stronger and healthier than she ever had. "I spoke to Sorrelclaw," said Frozenrain, leaning over to brush a bit of gravel and soil out of Snowpaw's pelt. "She's pleased with how your training is progressing. I'd love to see what you have learned, if you'd care to show us?"
Would having both parents present be too much pressure on young Snowpaw? Frozenrain waited, watchful for signs of discomfort. Hawkstar had always been supportive and incredibly patient with his children. It was one of his many admirable traits, one of the many reasons she loved him. But so great a figure was he in their Clan, that the fear of disappointing him had kept more than one young cat from acting out, or second guess their confidence when it came to something like this.
I have nothing but patience and time, thought Frozenrain, baby blue eyes encouraging. Whenever you're ready, Snowpaw.

Snowpaw The blue eyed she cat smiled up at her father with a guilty smile as she reentered her parent den, fully aware of the fact that she may have woken him with her tumble. She did not mean too, usually she was so delicate and poised on her paws but as she grew she had noticed that her paws seemed to trip her up a lot more than they once did. Shaking her fur to clean out the dirt that may have collected in her pristine coat Snowpaw returned her attention to her father, listening intently as he set about instructing her on how best to smell out the scent of he mother. Obeying her father the small cat opened her maw slightly to allow and took a deep breath. Her mother's scent seemed to lead from her parents nest directly out the door and just as she was about to speak once more, thanking her father for his advice. Frozenrain returned with a purr and Snowpaw smiled brightly up at the baby blue orbs of her mother.
" Mum, you're back, you missed my acrobatics" She winked at her father, brushing her white fur against his sandy toned pelt as she leapt to her paws, ready to do whatever her mother asked. Admittedly her smiled faltered when instead of taking her out to practice Frozenrain asked her to demonstrate in front of her father as well and her ears flattened against her head in fear of messing up. However Frozenrain's encouraging purrs allowed her to put aside her fear of letting her father down and step out to a more open part of the den.
Snowpaw unsheathed her claws and gently dug them into the soft dirt of the den while looking at her parents " Sorrelclaw taught me there are two ways to fight, the direct approach where you stand your ground and use an opponents own brawn against them and the indirect approach" she re sheathed her claws and adjusted her stance so that she could quickly outmaneuver an attacker " When you use speed and agility to tire down the opponent until you are ready to make the final strike."
"The direct approach is more suited to larger strong and well built cats... like Dad' Snowpaw continued to explain her calculated steps as she set up to fight whoever parent wished to battle her. " The indirect approach is better suited for smaller agiler cats, not that big cats can't be agile.. " she quickly corrected smiling up at her father guilty " The best warriors are ones who use both in equal balance, a cat's fighting style is entirely their own" she quoted her mentor as she locked eyes with each of her parents in turn. " Mum, Dad how about a fight to show you what I learned??? As much as I love talking about it.. a good warrior and leader makes their actions count as much as their words" The young cat gave each of her beloved parents a pleading look that always seemed to help her get her way as a kit.

She's very good, theoretically. Frozenrain took in the careful explanations of Snowpaw, pleased to see her breaking down each fighting technique based on what enemy it matched with. Frozenrain found herself nodding, feeling a faint sense of deja-vu as the very same lessons she'd once taught Sorrelclaw were being mirrored in her daughter nowadays.
Snowpaw gazed at them with eager eyes as large as a fledgling sparrow's, and Frozenrain answered with a smile - even as Hawkstar chuckled beside her, "if your mother allows it."
"I do, and in fact, I will be your first opponent." Frozenrain touched her nose to her mate's, gesturing for him to make room by standing just a foxlength off to the side. With some space to maneuver, Frozenrain took the opportunity to stretch, suppressing a groan as her joints creaked and popped in answer. It was satisfying in its own way, but it was a reminder, too, to the StoneClan Matriarch that she was not as young as she used to be.
"I'm certainly not bulky and strong like your father," said Frozenrain as she adopted a defensive crouch. "So you'll have to be careful to pick the right fighting moves." Frozenrain's talents were many, but her battle skills were average, the she-cat having had very little reason to use them. Admittedly, the muscle memory that went with battle training may have dimmed after so many seasons, but that was no reason for her to back down. Her daughter needed to learn. More than that, her daughter needed a proper spar, a chance to experience the heat of battle without the dangers - though Frozenrain secretly prayed Snowpaw need never square off against an opponent dangerous enough to kill her.
Just the thought made her heart seize, and her amicable expression slipped a fraction. "Whenever you're ready," she mewed, snapping herself out of it.

Hawkstar may your dreams be larger than mountains The big tom returned his mate’s affection on instinct, meeting her purr with his own deep and rumbling one. His gaze followed hers as their focus shifted to their daughter, the sand-coloured figurehead shifting his weight slightly. Frozenrain seemed to know exactly what Snowpaw had wanted, suggesting the white-coated apprentice demonstrate all she’d learnt thus far to her parents. Snowpaw hesitated, her wide eyes glancing toward him. With a gentle dip of his head, he silently encouraged her not to worry about his presence. She is young. She has so much time to learn ahead of her. He thought to himself.
Much like Frozenrain, Hawkstar found himself pleasantly surprised as he listened to Snowpaw’s descriptions of fighting styles and strategies. She has been listening well. He noted, his tail swishing slowly behind him as he continued to listen. The white-furred she-cat didn’t seem satisfied with simple explanations, however, for she soon turned kit-like and pleading eyes upon them, begging for an opportunity to actually show off what she’d been learning. The big tom couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped him, his pale amber gaze flicking to Frozenrain as he rumbled in amusement. “If your mother allows it.”
Frozenrain decided then that she would be Snowpaw’s first opponent, and with an affectionate tap of her nose against his, she suggested he clear some room for the to-be spar. Nodding his head in a silent ‘as you wish’, Hawkstar sidestepped a few tail lengths away, opening some space for the two she-cats to face off. Once at an acceptable distance, the StoneClan figurehead let himself drop into a sit, curling his tail comfortably over his paws. Curious, but gentle amber eyes flicked over his daughter as Frozenrain gave a couple final instructions before the spar start.
He did not miss the slight change in his mate’s demeanour. Though he could not read minds, he knew Frozenrain. Nothing meant more to her than her kits. Do not let your mind wander, my love. He thought quietly, amber eyed remaining on her for a moment as he watched her pull herself from whatever dark thoughts had invaded her momentarily. leader of stoneclan and may you have the courage to scale their summits background image | harley king | @kahani Fawn | table by phoenix
