TREECLAN - DEPUTY - 30 MOONS

Pumafang never thought his first day as deputy would be spent mentoring and assessing apprentices, though he hardly minded it. There seemed to be many capable warriors among the bunch, and some only needed some time and attention to perfect their skills. He was more than willing to handle a small group on his own and giving their mentors a break for the day. In fact, he wanted to assess their abilities without the scrutiny and encouragement of their teachers.

The chocolate black tom waited patiently in the Hidden Thicket, a biting wind sinking its jaws through his thin, silky fur.

It was horribly windy outside, though that was one of the reasons he wanted to train today: the apprentices needed to be competent in all types of weather. Their footing and balance would be tested to the max. Pumafang's thick tail was wrapped carefully around his paws as he observed the clearing. Leaves, litter, and small branches were tumbling past him. The trees around seemed to be quite healthy, their branches whipping and bowing from the gales, though the trunks and their extremities still seemed quite attached.

Have a little confidence in TreeClan's youth. He told himself, amber eyes following the swift-moving debris.

Wouldn't that be a legendary first day, bringing back an injured apprentice? Pumafang actually did have more faith in the soon-to-be warriors though. They wouldn't let themselves get injured in a little wind, would they? He blinked slowly, watching for movement that would entail their arrival, though the weather conditions did not favor the senses. Let's hope these kits aren't mousebrains. Pumafang thought listlessly, amber eyes dull and calculating.

He hated boredom, and some of the apprentices seemed to have been emitting a lot of it lately.
