Newleaf 6 - Overcast and breezy, the air smells fresh and even the most sluggish prey is out of hibernation.
It had finally arrived. The day that the snow finally melted away, leaving only grass and pure ground in its wake. The ground was wet, but a place like Rainclan could be expected to always be wet. But there was something special about this day and the fact that the snow was gone. There was one cat who had looked forward to this day, a certain small Rainclan visitor.
As the sun began to become visible over the trees, a pair of large blue eyes opened suddenly in the Nursery. A relatively small bundle of orange and white fur jumped from one of the smaller nests in the den and rushed over to the entrance, careful to avoid the sleeping figures laying in the other nests. As two white paws stopped at the entrance to the Nursery, there was a mostly silent gasp.
The orange and white tom looked around the Rainclan camp, amazed at what he was seeing. A surprise to most other cats, this was one of the first times that he had seen the ground without any snow on it. It was just ground. It was both odd, strange, and amazing at the same time. He slowly took a few steps out of the den, looking down at the ground around him. For once his pawpads weren't nearly numb because of the coldness of the snow. The ground was still chilly, but not nearly as bad as it was before. A large smile came over his face as he bounded a few leaps forward away from the den, his mouth and facial expression formed like that of laughter, yet no sound came from him. When he finally stopped, he was in the center of the camp, examining his surroundings.
It had been about 3 moons since Rainclan had temporarily taken him in. After he had crossed that river to try and find one of the clans, he had been found by Russethawk and Lotuswhisker, two Rainclan Warriors. He was brought back to their camp and was to stay until either his family was found or until the snow melted and he could care for himself. Through his happiness, he also was currently oblivious to what that meant. The snow was melted. He was 8 moons old now. He could sort of hunt for himself, but he was bad at it honestly. In reality, his time was up. He didn't realize this, but there was a chance that he would soon be kicked out of Rainclan. Despite these things that some other cats knew, the tom still stood in the center of the camp, looking around and looking with curiosity and amazement at the place that he had considered his home for a few moons now.
