Owlmind
LightningClan || 63 Moons || Senior Warrior
It had been a fairly nice day despite the fact that clouds covered the light from the sun up until the point it started to lower from the sky. Colors of deep red and orange burned across the heavy white clouds while the gentle breeze brought familiar scents of rabbits and mice as they emerged from the dens with happening of Newleaf.
Having been up since dawn the gray feline put herself to work with a dawn patrol and then participating in an intense tunnel training with Lightningpaw. As evening drew on, the senior warrior had made her way to her leader's den to invite her on a quiet patrol along the mountain side of their territory. It kept them from encountering any patrols from either Treeclan or Stoneclan, their neighbors at either border. She was pleased when the elder leader agreed to the two teamed group.
So far it had been fairly mute between the two she-cats, Owlmind letting Firestar trail behind her ever so slightly. The gray feline was highly observant, she was well aware of the rumor that had spread like wildfire throughout the clan about their leader loosing a life at the tail end of Leafbare. However, the senior warrior could read the signs within Firestar's eyes, the way she held herself, the way she moved about and spoke to others.
Grief was still present within her leader's entire form.
Empathy was hard for Owlmind, she didn't love a cat the way Firestar had loved Russetfall. Sure, the younger she-cat had loved the passed elder like the father Eaglestrike wasn't, and pain still touched her heart during memories that were brought forward from time to time. But Firestar had lost something far more important, her mate, her other half, and what it seemed to be, her heart.
Pausing after boosting a scent marker, the gray oriental turned to study her leader again. Wide amber pools emotionless as that drill sergeant facade remained in place while she processed her thoughts and words so as not to offend her leader. Owlmind's loyalty and devotion to Firestar was strong, since the passing of Russetfall she had attempted to help both the elder leader and Redscar with their duties. She took it upon herself to keep an eye out for Lynxpaw and Tigerpaw, though she doubted they needed it, but they too had lost someone important to them.
And now it seemed that Firestar herself needed a shoulder.
"Firestar, how are you feeling?" Owlmind didn't want to drill into her leader, she was sure Wildcall had given her quite the earful. She was more or less coming forward as a friend, as someone to listen and to understand. The gray feline had been mulling over the curiosity, the worry and the disappointment that crossed her mind when it came down to the calico near her. It was hard not to feel in such a way, thinking that your leader simply... gave up.
Those words just simply didn't exist in the militant she-cat's mind.
Though she was determined to help her leader though this rough patch within her life. With Greenleaf heading in, there were a number of things to look forward too. The growth of the clan was sure to ensue with new litters and the possibility of taking back territory for the whole of Lightningclan. Something Owlmind looked forward too with brightened excitement, even if she didn't show it.
