Post by Abyss on Feb 11, 2019 18:38:36 GMT -5
Age: 33 Moons
Description Summary: A torbie she-cat with amber-brown eyes, a fluffy tail, and long whiskers.
Description: Upon first examination, Brindlemask can be described as a mix between tortoiseshell and tabby, for her coat is covered entirely with many variations of brown, black, white, and some orange. All of these colors mix together to form her base coat, yet there are still very obvious black tabby markings that cover her as well. Her stomach, chest, muzzle, and around her eyes are where all of the white can be seen, but the rest of her is quite dark. Her fur itself is about medium-length for the most part, but gets shorter around her face and longer on her tail. In terms of overall size, she looks bigger than she really is because of her fur, but even with her fur she is still a slender and elegant cat, a long tail giving her balance and long legs, making her stand somewhat taller than her average-sized clanmates. Her eyes are kind of a mix between amber and light-brown, giving a light orange effect. She has long tufts of hair in her ears, long white whiskers, and darker spots at the base of her whiskers.
"Loyalty and dedication from afar is superior to distrust and treachery close to home."
When one leads a clan, they expect their clan to be loyal and always willing to risk their lives for their home. To some, this means volunteering for battle, or training every Apprentice they can, or breeding with their clanmates only for the sake of strong bloodlines and more members to strengthen numbers. But, while those things are indeed important and a large part of being in a clan, Brindlemask prefers to keep hold of what is truly the most important: prey. She isn't often seen within the clan's camp, nor does she often socialize with her clanmates, making many believe that she is hardly even a member. But after moons of service from the sidelines, it is known that Brindlemask cares for her clan in the most necessary way possible. Taking trips out into the territory almost every night, often lasting the whole night, she always returns with a bounty of prey, or as much as she could find. In her eyes, food to feed the many mouths within the clan is what is most important, for no clan can function properly without the sustenance to do so.
"In clan life, there's no room for every cat to live life based around fears and desires."
Swimming, heights, dirty pelts, mud, gross textures. Trivial things that cats have a tendency to gravitate away from or attempt to avoid. Some cats avoid water was much as physically possible, whether that be because they can't swim or they just don't like getting their coat wet. Some cats refuse to climb due to fear of falling, lack of climbing ability, or fear of heights. Some cats even spend their days whining about the appearance of their coats or fussing over looking their best. In Brindlemask's eyes, these are things that don't matter in the slightest. To her, staying focused on caring for the clan rather than paying more attention to how she looks or what she's feeling is the only way that truly dedicated cats live.
"Never chase love, affection, or attention. If it isn't given freely by another person, it isn't worth having."
When it comes to emotions, they are something that Brindlemask feels no connection or desire for. She does not seek the attention or emotions from others, nor does she really allow herself to feel them either. Though, perhaps saying she doesn't understand them would be a more accurate description. Of course she has emotions, as all cats do. But her emotions revolve more around her survival and own state of mind rather than connections with others. She doesn't feel things like jealousy or envy or hatred, or at least doesn't believe so. She is capable of feeling these emotions, but if she doesn't know or understand what they are or what she is feeling, she will push them aside. She doesn't care if others show her their own emotions, often allowing them to address her with them but not reciprocating. She is the sort to appreciate occasional attention or affection, but not one to return the favor.

- Short-tail - She-Cat - Sister - Alive - NPC/Adoptable
As many cats in Nightclan, Brindlemask was born to cats that weren't committed to each other or their relationship. Although she didn't really have a father figure, everyone knew that a tom named Raggedstep was her father, though it was normal for him to not play a large part in his children's lives. On the other hand, Coppernose, Brindle's mother, was the one who raised her and Ragged's kits on her own. In this litter there were two she-kits that she named Brindlekit(for her pelt) and Shortkit(for her short tail). Even though she was their only parental figure, Copper didn't necessarily teach her kits specifically how to work with their clanmates. Her primary focus was to raise them to take care of themselves, be loyal to the clan, and make sure that they were healthy. She chose to let them live their own lives. When they became Apprentices, the personalities of these two kits showed through quite quickly.
Shortpaw was an open book. She was very social and loving towards her clanmates, always wanting to be around others and constantly wanting to make friends. Her sister, however, was the complete opposite. Very much like her mother, Brindlepaw preferred to be alone and do everything by herself. She was very independent from the start, going out to train with her mentor when she had to but more often times choosing to go out and train by herself. Her distance from other cats her age, and just other cats in general, caused many cats to sort of avoid her. Hardly anyone ever tried talking to her willingly and some of her clanmates even suspected that she would run away and abandon the clan. Throughout most of her Apprenticehood, this was a common thought. No one would have been surprised if she would have left. Yet she didn't.
When she became a Warrior, at first these thoughts remained. There was once or twice when they actually did think that she had left, for she wasn't in camp for almost two days. But they were all proven wrong when she returned to camp with a lot of prey and a bundle of random herbs that she hoped were actually herbs rather than just weeds. Slowly, the rest of her clan began to accept the fact that she was just quiet and distant. There are still some who question her loyalty. There's also hardly any cats that choose to talk to her or get close to her. Even she and her sister don't really talk. One of the few cats she interacts with is her mother, which is never really talking, but rather just sitting in silence.
Over time, Brindlemask has slowly started to come out of her shell just a little bit. She and her mother talk almost every day, often one-sided jests thrown between them about Brindle's lack of emotion. She has trained one Apprentice, a tom by the name of Hawkpaw. She has also had a few encounters with some of her clanmates, including a hunting session with Frostjaw, a hunting session and a moment of danger with Coalmask, and, more recently, a few interesting encounters with Privetshade.
