Briarthroat couldn't resist spending time with his two adopted kids. Now that they were both warriors, it became easier to get their time, enjoy their conversation or even check in on how they were enjoying the freedom of being a warrior. Simply offering to go hunting together worked wonders as they could provide for their clan, and connect. Nettleheart tended to ask before the deputy could, prompting a smile on Briarthroat's face every time it happened. Despite her warrior status, they continued to spend time together almost daily. Their steps lined up easily from the moons of practice as she grew from a spitfire kit to the lithe warrior beside him. 

Snakestep was a bit harder to get a hold of, the younger warrior's schedule often opposite of the older tom's. The deputy planned out the patrols, so he knew where the warriors and apprentices would be for most the day. Afterwards though, that time belongs to Snakestep and he was proving to be tricky to tack down. But today, it had lined up. Briarthroat got a moment of his time and he could hardly contain his smile as they sat to enjoy a meal, bringing over a larger piece of prey for the pair to share. Letting Snakestep have the first bite, he settled in comfortably to their corner of camp. "How's hunting been treating you?" He started off, knowing the tom's sensitive eyes and skin were better suited in the evening patrols Briarthroat put him on.

Snakestep had just finished grooming some clinging snow from his thick pelt when he noticed Crowflame sharing some prey with her sister Graywolf across camp. He shifted slightly where he sat, feeling the familiar strange flutter in his chest as he watched Crowflame laugh at something Graywolf must have said. He thought about trying to join them, but he would he be interrupting? They were sisters, would they want him there or did they just want to be able to chat between the two of them?


He didn't even notice Briarthroat approaching until he had dropped prey at his paws, making him jump in surprise. “Oh! Hey Briarthroat,” he purred, pulling his attention away from the two she-cats to focus on the tom that had been a father figure in his life ever since he first came to NightClan. He took a grateful bite of the prey the deputy had brought to share, his tail flicking. “Hunting has been okay. My pelt is thick so the cold isn't so bad, and I blend into the snow pretty well so I think that helps too. It's really bright when the sun is out though…. I'm just glad I found NightClan instead of some other Clan, doing most stuff at night is great.”


He cast a fond glance around the camp, grateful for NightClan taking him and Nettleheart in all those moons ago. And that's when his gaze passed over Crowflame again and his ears twitched uncertainly. “Uh, but, how have you been? We haven't talked in a while. I guess we're both pretty busy?”
