The sun was starting to set and brought with it the cool air associated with evening in the valley, this didn't mean there wasn't work to be done however. During the colder moons it was necessary for the clans to be constantly working at defeating the ever present enemy that was the weather. Redscar had finished his duties, the clans patrols for the day were complete and a small amount of meat sat upon Lightning clan's fresh kill pile. It was now time for the deputy to unwind... by going out to hunt. Redscar wouldn't be alone surely though and wasted little time tracking down his sister with his proposal. "Care to go out hunting before the sun sets?" After receiving a favorable response the fiery pelted tom found himself exiting the camp with Owlmind at his side before gesturing with his tail and mewing, "After you, I'll follow your lead."

Owlmind

LightningClan || 60 Moons || Senior Warrior

The gray feline had spent most of her day with her young ward, molding the mind and abilities of a future warrior for Lightningclan. It was honestly one of her favorite things to do, and training Lightningpaw was an adventure every day.

Despite the fact that she didn't show much of how she felt, it didn't stop the pride the filled her chest. Over the course of apprentices the senior warrior had adapted her skill sets, she was positive, gave praise when needed and silent approval, constructive criticism rather than harsher words that discourage.

Owlmind was not an arrogant cat by any means, self sured of course, but not arrogant, but she did pride herself on her ability to train apprentices.

She had only sent Lightningpaw off momentarily before her long coated brother came trotting towards her. The feeling of mild annoyance ran through her mind as she envied Redscar for beautiful coat while she froze within her short cut pelt.

She hated Leafbare.

The long legged feline tilted her head, wide amber gaze flickering like a pale fire. "Hunting would be productive." She agreed in her rasped voice, her drill sergant facade falling away as she relaxed with her brother. It wasn't often they got to spend time with each other, as their duties kept them busy.

The last time they spent time with each other was for battle practice, not that that gave them time to talk to each other.

Taking the lead, the long legged feline ignored the dull ache within her shoulder as she made her way across the frozen plains of Lightningclan's territory, heading towards the Star Field. Owlmind's ear flatted against her head as the thing skin grew colder from the wind.

"Redscar, how is Lynxpaw's training coming along?" Owlmind asked as her larger sibling drew up to her side, those wide amber eyes glancing at him for a moment. It was in her nature to be curious of the other apprentice's training, their abilities intrigued her for strategical reasons.

Though, she also wanted to talk to him about other things, it seemed like a good opener. Short, sweet and yet informational.

Redscar followed behind his sister and it wasn't long before he knew their destination. The star field wasn't a consistently stunning view for all seasons, and it so happened leaf bare was the worst of them, however it still provided some of the best hunting in the territory despite it's looks. As they walked Owlmind began to strike up a conversation about his apprentice, and the deputy took his time choosing the best words to describe Lynxpaw's training. Redscar was close with his sister, and was more than aware how seriously she took the job of being a mentor. Not wanting to lose any favor with Owlmind, even if the comment that did so was only a joke, Redscar replied evenly. "She can be quite the pawful, however she will make an excellent warrior someday very soon." Even with Lynxpaw's warrior ceremony looming Redscar was sure there was still plenty of trouble left in her future. "And what of your apprentice?"

Owlmind

Good. 

The senior warrior liked what she heard. Though she had no doubts that Lynxpaw would be a good warrior within her own right. She was proud and headstrong, not so unlike her mother, Firestar.

And out of any cat, Owlmind trusted Redscar to train an adaptable warrior.

A sliver of amusement passed through the gray she-cat's wide amber pools as she thought about her own ward. Lightningpaw had only been her apprentice for a short period of time, older than a normal six moon old due to being held back with her brother.

The two of them got into some trouble as kits.

Lightningpaw was young, easily impressionable but Owlmind believed she had the capability of being an amazing warrior. She came from a long line of proud Lightningclan warriors that had populated the clan for generations. And the senior warrior loved the opportunity to mold her mind and to teach her to be the future of the clan.

Despite the delay and the game of catch up they had to play, Owlmind was confident within her apprentice's ability and each training session was more promising than the last. 

"I think with age and maturity Lightningpaw will become an asset to the clan. She has a real interest in tunneling." A skill re-found after being abandoned for so long. Owlmind had strategical interests in tunneling and with her impressive memory she attempted to map out routes and work them into possible battle plans.

Should they be needed.

A memory decided to play through the gray feline's mind, almost causing her to pause in step as the siblings continued to pad towards Star Field. Short gray brushed against long red as Owlmind purposefully used her brother's coat for secondary warmth, fog billowing from her nose as she breathed.

"Do you remember when we were apprentices." Owlmind's raspy voice spoke up again, glancing at Redscar from the corner of her wide, amber pools. It had been the two of them, along with their sister Rosefire. Owlmind had always worked her hardest when it came to training with Russetfall, pleased to make him proud of her work. Through their bond, he became like a father figure to her.

Though she was sure that young Owlpaw and Redpaw got into a lot of trouble. It seemed like so many moons ago.
