Smokestorm
This gal right here's gonna rule the world
No, I won't sit still and look pretty
No, I won't sit still and look pretty
Smokestorm would have much rathered quiet from the young she-cat she was padding along with, but it wasn't looking very likely. Not that Lynxpaw was chattering on- even that she could have dealt with. No, it was constant grumbles and low growls that kept coming that irritated her. So far, she'd kept from saying anything about it, meeting each muttered statement with a flick of her tail, and when the silence seemed to stretch on longer than usual, she turned her head to make sure that the LightningClan apprentice was still at her heels.
She didn't want to be here. StoneClan and LightningClan didn't have a good relationship, and every step forward, deeper into enemy territory, put her more on edge. She could only hope that she didn't come face to face with some cat more interested in fighting than talking. After all, she was doing them a favor, bringing back their wayward apprentice, after she'd put her own safety on the line in keeping the fluffy she-cat from getting mauled by a fox.
Her shoulder still stung, though it was hardly the worst injury she'd ever got: a barely noticeable spot of missing fur where the fox's teeth had just missed. She refused to favor it. It wasn't that bad; a night's rest would allow it to recover. Once she had returned this apprentice, she was definitely going to sleep.
"Are we close to your camp?" Smokestorm asked, turning again to the LightningClan cat, who stared back with flattened ears.
"I don't need you to lead me around in my own territory!" Lynxpaw snapped. "Go back to your own!"
"Are. We. Close." Did they not give any discipline in this Clan? None of her Clan's apprentices would dare to talk to a warrior like this. If only she could just give the brat a sound cuff or two to straighten her up.
"Maybe," Lynxpaw replied, green eyes narrowing, cheered by the irritation that flashed across the StoneClan cat's face. "Guess we'll..." She froze at the sound of paws padding over grass not far away, and then shrank down as Smokestorm's fur bushed out.
There was no reek of fox, however, and with a quick lash of her tail Smokestorm stepped forward, lifting her voice. "I'm Smokestorm of StoneClan, and I'm bringing one of your apprentices back to your camp..." Ahead, the grass gave way to a flattened area with scrawny trees shading it, and just ahead the form of Redscar, the Clan's deputy. With a quick nod of greeting, Smokestorm glanced back to see Lynxpaw follow, each pawstep deliberately slow and with an air of resentment around her- for what, the StoneClan deputy couldn't have said, and it annoyed her- the young cat could at least be grateful she and Eagletalon had saved her life.
Deputy of StoneClan
