DAPPLEDHEATHER

The morning air suggested a storm, which sent shivers down Dappledheather's spine as she shook off her sleepiness. The fire still sat heavy on her mind. Only Starclan knew if the storm would cause another fire, and she hoped they would be kind. The earth was healing, her fur blending better and better into the new growth when she hunted. Today though, she was woken by a gruff voice, Sagefur gathering her chosen cats for a dawn patrol. Their other cat was Sunnyheart. 

As the trio plodded onto their territory, Dappledheather examined the tom. She didn't know him very well. Her slight introverted ways left her low on companionship. Sure she had friends from her sister's group, but no one she could truly come talk to. She wanted to talk with another warrior about Jaypaw, to be excited about the growth they were making. With Sagefur leading the way, the furry warrior was able to walk in step with Sunnyheart. "How are you doing?"She asked, unsure how to break the ice with a clanmate you should've already had interactions with.

Death doesn't discriminate
Between the sinners and the saints,
it takes and it takes and it takes

Sunnyheart's near constant mental state of passive disconnect. He visably struggled with the death of his adoptive father and the breakdown of his dad's sanity. It seeemed that his string of bad luck concerning parental figures was hanging on to his pelt like a tick.

Yet, with all these troubles in his heart and head, Sunnyheart was trying. Thankful that Firestar trusted him enough to train Bumblepaw, Sunnyheart was slowly gaining traction and righting himself after what felt like decades on his back. Things were getting better, slowly.

So when Sagefur told him that they were going on patrol, Sunnyheart nodded without complaint. He needed to push himself even if he wanted to remain curled up in his den.

Joining the other two cats, Sunnyheart gave a polite greeting to them both but remained silent. The slightly over cat waved her tail and started the walk, Sunnyheart trailing behind. He had grown to dislike patrol because of what happened to Mapleheart but before he could start to spiral out, he pushed the thought away. It wasn't the time.

Instead, he divided his attention between checking the air for dangerous scents and taking in the beauty that was a quiet pretty dawn sky. The latter was short lived by Dappleheather's voice, not that he minded. Her question was polite, Sunnyheart commended her efforts in talking to him. Few did.

"I'm okay, I'm not a big fan of leafbare, bad memories of snow," He told her, a flick of his tail to point toward some frost on a nearby bush. "The snow is coming and I dread the day," He added his voice a little on the flat side. Very few cats realized the depths of Sunnyheart's fear, how the slightest glimpse of snow sent his heart into a gallop. He hated leafbare more than the average cat.

"How are you?" He asked after he took a moment to calm himself from the mere thought of snow.
