Cedarkit had managed to escape the confines of his mother, who was fast asleep, nothing but a bundle of slowly breathing, restful fur. Today was a new day, full of high adventure. He just had to figure out what in StarClan he wanted to do. Escaping was all well and good, but Cedarkit had no idea what he wanted to do with his (however brief) new-found freedom. At the edge of the nursery, where his mother hadn't even stirred as he had gently disentangled himself from the crook of her belly, Cedarkit paused for a few moments, peering out of the nursery to see if any other cats were about. He almost scattered as the dawn patrol thundered into the camp, unused to seeing so many cats moving in one direction at the same time, but he would not let his slight fear deter him! In that moment, he decided he fancied an adventure. He looked around the camp, bored but determined to find adventure. His eyes flitted once again to the entrance to the camp.
In that moment, Cedarkit knew what he wanted to do. He would go and catch something for his mother, breakfast in nest sounded like a great idea for him to do for her. He could almost hear her purr from where he was stood.
Mind made up, Cedarkit began his slow walk through the centre of the camp.

WHAT'S THIS? WHAT'S THIS?Swankit watched everything from her corner beside the elder's den, the place where Crowblaze had shown her where to observe others. The wind was strong today and blew up small tornadoes of leaves on occasion, leaving Swankit staring at the leaves like they had started speaking. It had been getting colder recently and she didn't know why. Nor did she like it. She was used to certain things changing but now so did the sky? Unbelievable.
The tabby kit hissed at a leaf angrily. "Stop moving." She spat, slapping at it several times to teach the leaf a lesson. Satisfied that it had been taught a lesson, Swankit turned her head back to the the camp clearing - spotting something that peaked her interest.
It was a kit, like her. Swankit kept to herself and her siblings most of the time so she didn't interact with others much, but she knew the tom was called Cedarkit. The grey-ish tabby peeped out the nursery before crawling out, looking about the camp. What was he doing? Plotting an attack of some sorts? How dare he, this was her camp!
Swankit wriggled her haunches under her, ears trembling in anticipation. She would have to introduce herself, forcefully. Cedarkit locked eyes with the entrance and began to move through the camp, Swankit silently slipping forward - darting under warriors' legs and behind their backs for cover, those that were used to her behavior just ignoring her.
One step... two step... POUNCE!
With a wordless screech, Swankit jumped forward, swinging all four paws underneath her. She landed square on Cedarkit, perhaps a bit clumsily, and proceeded to try and grab at his scruff.
"BEGONE, CAT!"
THERE'S SOMETHING VERY WRONG @calico - she's a strange fish

Cedarkit didn't know what hit him. One moment he was slowly making his way through the camp, intent on reaching the entrance... the next? Flat on his belly with kit-weight on top of him and sharp teeth in his scruff. He had no idea what to do at this sudden show of malice. What did I do? I can't even tell who it is from this angle... what do I do now? I don't want to hurt her, but I can't stay here all day, I need to get out and go for a wander... What do I do? What do I do? WHAT DO I DO?!?!?
From his new position on the floor of the main camp, he opened his mouth to try and gauge exactly who he was currently carrying around. It was a remarkably familiar scent, as familiar as his own, though he'd never exactly been able to properly interact with the kit. She kept herself to herself normally, and that was fine. Cedarkit respected personal boundaries and the need for privacy.
Standing up, keeping his haunches low so he wouldn't jostle her (it would cause just as much pain to him as it would to her, considering her teeth were firmly embedded in his scruff) he turned his head and simply meowed "Swankit. How may I help?"

WHAT'S THIS? WHAT'S THIS?As Cedarkit started to move beneath her, Swankit gripped on hard and nipped lightly at his ear. Her sudden release of energy had not yet stopped and his polite greeting went unheard on her hyper ears.
Swankit has her strange explosive moments of playful energy and unfortunately, Cedarkit was its victim this time. Usually it was her sister Owlkit or her brother Falconkit, and rarely her parents.
"SILENCE FOE! I SHALL END YOU!" She growled, her lanky limbs shaking as Swankit twisted herself onto her side, keeping a grip on Cedarkit's pelt as she flopped against the dirt. Her mouth stretched wide, needle teeth showing and she wiggled her head back and forth like a snake's, in what she assumed was a threatening movement. The she-kit's fluffy hindpaws pummeled away at Cedarkit's side; her claws firmly sheathed to prevent any actual damage being done.
Swankit's movement briefly paused as she waited for Cedarkit's response but the crazy wide-eyed look on her face promised that this was far from over and her twitchy tail warned that she would pounce again soon. THERE'S SOMETHING VERY WRONG @calico - fite me

Cedarkit found himself face-down in the dirt as the wiry she-kit was using him as a punch-bag. He was sincerely thankful that she had decided to keep her claws sheathed, or she'd be literally clawing him to shreds. This still wasn't getting him any closer to the outside of the camp. He needed to get out. He needed to do something. He was wasting his energy being stuck in the camp all day. He couldn't do it with Swankit looking like she'd pounce if he moved.
The only thing Cedarkit thought he could do in this situation, was what he had always done whenever things were looking bleak for him. He submitted.
He crouched down in a gesture of defeat, tail drooping and creating a furrow in the rapidly solidifying ground.
"Swankit... I really cannot deal with this right now. I need to get out there. Would you like to come with me?" He gestured with his tail to the entrance of the camp.
"Now. Before any of the other warriors notice."

Fernpaw 7 Moons. She-Cat. RainClan.
Fernpaw was crouched in front of the fresh-kill pile, her gaze fixed on the most massive fish she'd ever seen. Who had brought it in? Who had even had the luck to catch something so huge? Would she ever have a chance to drag such a prize from the river? She was almost surprised the one who'd caught it wasn't still hanging around, accepting praise for their feat. It was almost a shame that it was prey now. She ought to give it to the elders or queens instead of just gaping at it.
A shrill cry caught her attention, and Fernpaw glanced around to see the two kits wrestling. She recognized them easily enough and a purr rose in her throat as the she-kit proceeded to pummel Cedarkit. He wasn't even trying to fight back. Rising, Fernpaw turned to the kits, tail waving as she neared- ready to speak up, but Cedarkit's words made her frown. He was going out? A glance at the nursery, but neither queen was visible.
"Swankit, enough!" she cried, whisking her tail and pouncing toward the two kits, reaching a paw to scoop the she-kit toward her, away from Cedarkit. "What's this I hear about you going out?" she asked. "Does your mother know about your plans?"

WHAT'S THIS? WHAT'S THIS?Swankit stopped tossing her head back and forth long enough to listen to Cedarkit's pleads for mercy - her mind throbbing a bit from the intense movement. Her ears twitched curiously, since the tom wasn't fighting back and was instead trying to converse.
"Swankit... I really cannot deal with this right now. I need to get out there. Would you like to come with me?"
Leave the camp? Swankit remembered the brief adventure she had had with Owlkit. They had already escaped once and almost drowned. That was probably a fluke though, and Lotuswhisker never encouraged giving up. "Yes, let's go-"
"Swankit, enough!"
WHO DARED?! Swankit's fluffy fur bristled madly as a paw scooped around her middle and dragged her off her opponent. SWiveling and twisting like a ferret, Swankit caught a glimpse of Fernpaw's face - scolding the two for the thought of leaving.
"CUR! Have you no better task than to encroach on private matters?! Matters that do not involve nor require your biased input, no less! UNHAND ME VILLIAN!" A babble of nonsense spewed from Swankit's mouth before she silenced herself by wrapping her jaws around Fernpaw's paw; attempting to distract the larger she-cat.
"Flee, Cedarkit! I shall fend off this she-beast!" THERE'S SOMETHING VERY WRONG @calico Taxx - she's mental

Cedarkit 4 Moons || RainClan || TomCedarkit took Swankit at her word. Thankful for the distraction Fernpaw provided, he blinked his gratitude to both of the she-cats who were wrestling. Well, he noted, Swankit was wrestling. Fernpaw was attempting to keep her still. A difficult feat indeed.
He looked back longingly at the camp entrance, and made his mind up once and for all. Not caring what his mother would think, not caring what anyone would think (not even Silverstar), he ran as fast as his long legs would carry him.
He felt the exhilarating feeling of the wind whistling through his ears as he was not paying any attention at all to what he was doing, or where he was going. He was just enjoying the run, the exercise.
The surprised cry of other cats as he passed them were nothing but a fleeting sound in his ears as he continued running...
Until he fell into the river.
"Wha-glub?!" He'd never had any formal swim training, but he was a RainClan cat. Swimming was in his blood. Churning his paws strongly underneath the water, he surfaced, ears plastered flat to his head. 'Cause I know that it's me, they've been coming to see, to forget about life for a while. 211 @medusa Taxx Notes: HELP D:

JadeShe'd been avoiding the river for a few days, just to prevent the RainClan patrols from finding her. She'd soon have to start hunting further away, when the snows came and made fishing next to impossible. She preferred fishing, but she was a huntress and could go anywhere. Besides, it seemed to her like RainClan gave off darkness of spirit and heart. She was only over here to get a drink before heading home for the day, but she heard the sound of something hitting the water. Her ears swiveled forward and her head popped up at the sound of someone calling out as they fell in. A few moments later a small shape floated past her, heading downstream. "Not again! Hang on!" She called out and ran along the riverside, leaping straight in further downstream and turning to paddle her way back towards the kit. She let him come to her, catching him up at the scruff. This one was tiny, smaller than the she-kit she'd fished from the river a few days ago. Was this one also from RainClan like the other two had been? The river had washed the scent from his little body, but she didn't doubt it. She knew all the loners in this area, and didn't remember any of them having such young kits. She let them drift downstream a little ways, holding the kit above water until the current wasn't so strong then came onto the shore and started padding back the way she'd come. Once she reached a bush she plopped the kit down and started grooming his wet fur. "Where did you come from, little one?" @calico @medusa TaxxNotes : What is it with RC kits and the river?

Cedarkit 4 Moons || RainClan || TomCedarkit, spitting water out, waited for the strange cat to finish before curling up tight to her. He was rapidly getting colder, and started to shiver. He didn't know her by scent, but he could sense that this large cat meant him no harm. The logical part of his brain realised that if she did want to cause him harm, she would have left him in the river to drown.
His shivering intensified, a way of his body attempting to warm itself, though the loner's warmth was definitely helping. She smelled of fresh kill and fish... almost, but not quite, like RainClan scent. Maybe she was once part of RainClan but decided to go her own way?
He looked the strange cat in the eyes, reaching up to touch her head with his paw, leaving droplets of water on her equally as wet pelt.
"Hi! I'm Cedarkit. Thank you... thank you for rescuing me. What's your name? Would you like me to walk you home?" Cedarkit had no idea where he was, nor where he needed to go to get home, but he had to impress the one who had saved his life. Maybe she'd join RainClan and be his mentor? He pondered this thought for a while as he awaited her response. 'Cause I know that it's me, they've been coming to see, to forget about life for a while. 236 Taxx @medusa Justice Notes: even as a kit he has to be a man

"There now, easy breaths." StarClan what was going on in the clans these days? Why were they so lax with watching their kits? Or had one of them actulaly not wanted this one so much they'd tossed him in the river to drown? She put a paw over his tiny body and pushed in short intervals to encourage him to spit out all the water he'd swallowed. Her body curved protectively around the poor drenched kitten when he started to shiver, her thick fur already drying out. She was made for the water, this kit's swimming pelt hadn't grown in yet. Again, what were they thinking?
She kept grooming him diligently, even as he seemed to remain very calm an even put a paw to her face and speak to her. He wasn't the least bit afraid, but then again he might be too young to know the animosity of adult clancats towards loners.
"My name is Jade." For her luminescent green eyes. She gave him one more grooming lick then settled down to let the warmth of her body seep into him while her ears remained perked up to listen for the clan cats. Hopefully they believed her when she told them she found him in the river, rather than stole him from the nest. She would never steal a kit from its mother. It was simply cruel. "Cedarkit, where is your mother? Why are you so far from home?" She shifted, looking down at him. "You should be getting back to your nest young tom. My nest is further from home for you. I assume you're from RainClan?"

Cedarkit 4 Moons || RainClan || TomAll bravado forgotten in how cold Cedarkit was feeling after his 'swim', his thoughts returned to his mother. She'd be going frantic. Cedarkit had never been away from camp, away from her, for that long.
He snuggled into Jade, taking comfort as well as warmth from her fur. He looked around and realised... He was completely and irrecovably lost. He had no idea where he was. He started to panic.
"She's-she's back in the camp... but I don't know where camp is! Jade, am I going to have to leave RainClan and live here with you? I'd look after us both when I got big enough. My mother... she'd miss me but she'd get by, she'd just have another kit or two and then she'd be happy again...
I'm so lost! Can you take me home? Can you take me back to my mother?" Cedarkit's shivering intensified as he finally realised the gravity of the situation he had placed himself in. For it was completely his fault. He was the one who ran. He was the one who left the camp.
He was going to be in so much trouble when he finally got home... if he got home. 'Cause I know that it's me, they've been coming to see, to forget about life for a while. 221 Taxx @medusa Justice Notes: Maybe he hasn't grown up quite as much as originally thought

Jade started grooming the kit again, trying to dry out and smooth his fur while holding a soothing purr to calm him down. She waited awhile to answer, just so she could tend to his needs and make sure he was in no danger of getting sick from his little trip into the river. Finally, as he started to panic, she spoke again. "I now where your camp is Cedarkit. You don't have to leave home, I'll see you safely back to RainClan where you belong. Just...promise me you won't venture from home again before you become an apprentice." She pressed her head against him, rumbling quietly. "I need you to understand just how much danger you were in. Not all loners are as nice as I am. Some would have let you drown, seeing as it looks like you don't know how to swim yet. And even if you did, the water's cold this time of year and the current strong." The she-cat took a slow breath in then out. "You are going home, little tom. I appreciate it that you want to take care of me, but right now you need to focus on taking care of your mother. She'd be heartbroken if she lost you. There's no replacing you, even if she had other kits she'd always miss you. There may be other kits, but there's only one you. One Cedarkit in all of StarClan's creation." She stood slowly and scooped the kitten towards her paws before picking him up by the scruff and turning herself towards the heavy scent of RainClan cats. With any luck they wouldn't attack her as she came dangerously close to their camp. The kit was priority, everything else would come as it would. Jade began walking towards RainClan's camp, silently praying to StarClan that they didn't kill her for returning this lost little ball of fluff.
