Mistheart watched Lunarpaw curiously, she seemed to be having trouble in deciding what she wanted to become. A fierce fighter or a nurturing medicine cat, if it were her at that age again she would still have made the same choice.
The pale tabby cat smiled, ’I’m glad you like it here with me!’ she purred, ’I like having you with me.’ she added, even if she was a bit disobedient sometimes there was no denying that she did put in the effort. ’You shouldn’t feel lazy, it is our jobs as medicine cats to find herbs to heal the clan, and in return the rest of the clan feed us.’ she mewed explaining the way of life as a medicine cat.
As Lunarpaw got up and padded into her nest to sleep Mistheart felt a yawn creep onto her own face. Time for a rest,’ she thought, agreeing with the apprentice as she slumbered. Mistheart followed Lunarpaw over to there nests and curled up in her own.

Dawn seemed to come to fast. One minute she had been speaking to an old StarClan cat named Littlecloud, the next she was blinking into the morning light. Lunarpaw got up and stretched, her black tail flicked back and forth as she yawned.
She padded over to her mentor, and prodded her with a paw. The white she-cat got a sneaky idea, putting her nose against Mistheart's forehead, looking into the Medicine Cat's eyes upside down. "Good Morning!" She meowed loudly.

The pale tabby she cat lay in her cosy nest in the medicine cats den, the early morning light shining on her pelt making it appear like silk. Her soft breathing could hardly be heard as she was still fast asleep.
As her apprentice awoke she still did not. However, when she came up close and put her nose to her forehead she awoke with a start. ’Good Morning!’ she mewed promptly, she had jumped as she was awoken, causing Lunarpaw to fall as well. ’Sorry, you surprised me!’ she purred amusingly, she was definitely not expecting that sort of arousing.

The white apprentice sat up, and leaner her head onto her shoulder. "Mistheart, do you think they will be any kits soon? I'd like to see some new cats around here - the same old faces get boring."
Lunarpaw began to neaten up her fur. So far is was messy and had loose moss hanging in it. Her toung had quick, neat strokes to make her coat snow-colored again. The she-cat paused, and looked at her mentor.
"I thought Medicine Cats had fight training too, but you've never taken me out for it."

Mistheart yawned, showing her sharp pointy teeth. At Lunarpaws question she stopped and smiled at her amused. ’I don’t know Lunarpaw, you can never tell,’ she mewed, ’Depends if anybody wants any!’
As Lunarpaw began to groom herself Mistheart looked at her own ruffled up fir. It was a disgrace, she stepped out of her mossy nest and shook herself gently before licking a paw to bring over her ear.
At the word fight Mistheart stopped abruptly, ’You know I do not believe in fighting!’ she mewed firmly, she defineitly stuck to what she believed, ’If you want to be trained in fighting ask one of the warriors, I refuse to be apart of death!’ she finished. The most death caused in clans was the result of fighting, and she hated it.

Lunarpaw cringed at her mentor's voice. Mistheart wouldn't even fight to defend our Clan I bet.... heh, she'd even be on an injured kittypet's side. The apprentice finished grooming herself, and laid down to face her mentor.
"Well, I guess we'd better get started then.... what herbs am I going to learn today?" She meowed with her head tilted.

Mistheart noticed Lunarpaw cringe at her words, ’Something the matter Lunarpaw?’ she asked, wondering what exactly at caused the cringe, which part of her opinion on fighting. Mistheart was the last cat you could see in a battle, she preferred to help the injured as soon as she could, not after the battle was finished as she knew that it was often to late to the save them then.
’I thought today we will have a look for some Marigolds,’ she explained. ’They are nice and easy to find, so it is a good place to begin! Then as you get better we will try some of the more tricky herbs.’ As she spoke of herbs she remembered the Burdock roots she had collected yesterday with the help of Ravenstar, they had been very hard to find.

Mistheart reminded Lunarpaw of what they were supposed to do today. The white she-cat glanced outside to the middle of the camp. There was a low layer of water. Sometimes, she hated the camp - if it ever rained there was always the stinking water!
Wrinkling her nose, the she-cat carefully stepped through the water, trying not to get anything other than her paws wet. The white fur around her paws was turning gray from being pressed down. The scent of NightClan was fainter with it in her nostrils.
After reaching the camp enterance, and shaking off her paws, Lunarpaw scented the air for any traces of Marigold. It wasn't hard to spot against the contrast of it's dark green leaves, and right now it was the most bountiful season of herbs.

As Lunarpaw began out of the den Mistheart began to follow, she had not looked outside and had forgotten about the rain that had been promised the previous night. The center of camp was full of a shallow pool of water, it was times like these that she wishes she was a Rainclan cat so she was used to the water.
She trailed through the water as it rippled over her paws as she walked. Her white paws and tabby legs turning darker on contact with the water. I can see this being another dirty day, she thought to herself remembering yesterdays digging for Burdock roots.
When they finally got out of camp Mistheart shook her feet dry a little, although the grass outside was wet too. The scents in the air were fresher now after the rain and she thought today was a good day for learning more scents of the herbs and learning them. The Marigold they were searching for was not hard to see, it’s bright orange flowers were in full bloom this time of year.

"Mistheart, should we start at the bush where there was Marigold last quarter-moon? I don't know if there's any left but we could try...." The she cat looked over her shoulder to see her mentor. They had both gotten their paws wet, and theyy had their pads still set on the wet, marshy grass.
NightClan territory had dark soil that always turned to mud when it rained, Lunarpaw could even feel some dragging on her tail-tip. She padded deeper into NightClan territory.

’Yes I think that’s a good place to start,’ the pale brown tabby agreed, smiling at her apprentice. She could see she was looking at her paws, ’It’s not very nice today is it,’ she mewed with some amusement as they both had wet paws, stained by the water.
She set off slowly to the bushes Lunarpaw had mentioned, turning to check that her apprentice was following through the marshy soil that stuck to there pelts making her feel heavy as she walked.

Lunarpaw hissed in discust as her paws sunk into the ground. She had mud dripping off from her belly-fur. She clawed her way onto some tree roots, hopping near them to avoid sinking deeper into the marshy ground.
She was behind her mentor, making sure not to lose sight of her. The bright flowers came into view, and Lunarpaw took a great bound over to them. Unfortunately for her, the spot where she landed was unusually deep. Lunarpaw was in the ground with only her neck, head and the end of her tail still white.
"NO!" She yowled, struggling under the weight of the earth. Her paws felt discustingly wet, her fur drenched and heavy. She turned her yellow gaze to Mistheart. "A little help please!"

Mistheart padded along just infront of Lunarpaw, her paws sinking into the mud every so often depending on where she stepped. She watched her steps more than she did where she was going, she was following her nose more than anything. Her white paws were now a dark brown almost black in color from the sticky soil the rain had caused.
As Lunarpaw charged ahead she shook her head, then she realised the flowers were in view now. However she also saw her apprentice practically disappear from view as she sank right into the black soil.
Her blue eyes wide with alarm she bounded up to Lunarpaw and attempted to pull her out, her teeth in the scruff of her neck so she did not hurt her. Her own feet were sinking slightly but she was balancing her weight well and shuffling slightly in a bid to pull her apprentice out of what seemed like a patch of swamp.

Lunarpaw scrambled onto the tree roots as her mentor pulled her out of the mud pit. She could have been mistaken for a brown cat now, the way she looked. She hissed at the pit, her claws still grasping beneath her so she wouldn't lose her balance.
"No how do we get that Marigold? Unless we could get a warrior with legs two fox-lengths high we're going to have some trouble...." The she-cat muttered. She couldn't believe after this she would have to lick ALL this mud off.

As Lunarpaw heaved herself out of the mud Mistheart felt some relief flood through her that her apprentice was alright. Her legs were now a dark brown colour and she was a little disgusted at the site, but she was used to it by now. She turned to her apprentice, poor thing, why am I worried about my legs when she looks like that!
Mistheart frowned at her apprentice, amusement on her face though. ’It’s not as high as you think, she mewed padding carefully up to the plant, placing her feet carefully so she did not sink into the softer patches. ’You see here,’ she mewed pointing to some green stems in the center of a bush, the Marigolds were on the top of the bush. ’These are the stems for the Marigold, we just need to pick those and they should come down from the bush!’ she explained, hoping Lunarpaw had understood.
