The white she-cat crept into the den, scenting her mentor was out. She stealthily made her way over to the recently and neatly stacked herbs.
Lunar paw gripped some yarrow with her claws, and placed in in the borage stack. She pulled over the yellow tansy flowers with horsetail and marigold. Last she used her tail to scatter poppy seeds all over the floor of the cavern.
After her work was finished the snow pelted apprentice streaked out of the den, running out past the warrior's den, the elder's den and the apprentice's den, then scrambled inside of the nursery.
Once inside she lowered her breaths, so not to wake the dozing queen with her kits.

The grey tabby she cat padded into camp beside her leader, Ravenstar, her mouth full of Burdock that she had collected by the border of Treeclan territory. The darkening sky was creeping in on them now and it promised rain, but hopefully not too much. The clan never dealt well with too much, the camp usually flooded.
As she reached her den she sensed something was wrong. When she padded in she found out why. There were herbs everywhere, and she knew immediately that some had been muddled up; the usual scents came from different places. She stepped over the scattered herbs and placed the burdock roots into the correct place. She turned around and sighed with annoyance, she did not need to guess who had done this, it was all too clear, Lunarpaw!
Mistheart turned to the den entrance and flicked her tail angrily, she was hard to get angry but Lunarpaw had managed it. She did not fancy following the apprentice to wherever it was she was cowering, either proud of herself of scared of Misthearts anger. Instead she began to un-muddle the herbs and put them in the correct place. That cat has to learn what the consequences of these sort of actions could be! she thought to herself, her light tabby tail still flicking from side to side.

A white muzzle poked out of the den, it opened drawing in NightClan scents. The she-cat apprentice stuck her paws out, followed by her torso, back legs, and the striped black tail. Lunarpaw puffed out her chest and padded proudly back into the den, waiting to see the look on Mistheart's face. Her pads shuffled against the ground, slightly dusting her pure white coat.
The scent of herbs once again filled her nostrils, bringing with them Mistheart's scent. She stepped on a poppy seed near the enterance, quickly pulling up her foot and grabbing it between her teeth. Even a kit had to know getting something small in your pad hurt. She was careful not to step on anything as she padded up behind her mentor and sat down, spitting out the seed she was carrying into the small pile Mistheart had made.
"Clever, huh?" She meowed.

Mistheart continued to pick up the different herbs, leaving the poppy seeds until last as there were so many of them and they were everywhere. Her pale brown tabby tail still flicking, she was clearly irritated and in a tense state. She failed to hear the approaching apprentice, her small ears causing her problems.
When Lunarpaw made herself heard Mistheart jumped dropping the herbs she had in her mouth causing them to scatter around on the floor with the others once again. She spun around, her pale blue eyes showing the anger that loomed inside her. ’Thank you for showing yourself!!’ she spat angrily. The words Lunarpaw spoke only enraged her more. ’Give me one thing that makes this clever!!’ she spat, ’This is wasting so much time! You should have been familiarising yourself with the herbs, so that you are able to help me find them in the territory!!’ Mistheart was filled with doubt on Lunarpaw, she didn’t seem to understand.

"I do know them," Lunarpaw defended stubbornly. Her tail twitched, the black and white stripes showing her irritation. She tucked her legs and paws underneath her, then recited what she had memorized from Mistheart.
"For Greencough and Whitecough we use Catmint. On open wounds we can treat them with Dock, Goldenrod Poltice, Comfrey and what we use for infected wounds, too. Then we apply cobwebs. Infected wounds can be treated with Dried Oak leaves, Wild Garlic, Horsetails, Burdock Roots or Marigold. Poison is expelled woth Nettles and Yarrow. Thyme, Watermint, Chervil Roots, and Juniper are good for Bellyaches. Feverfew is for high temperature, Poppyseeds cure stress and insomnia, Tansy and Honey are good for coughs." The she-cat recited everything she remembered so far, but at 8 moons Mistheart shouldn't expect her to know EVERYTHING.
The she-cat puffed out her chest again and turned her nose up. She let her white fur lie flat, certain of herself. She meowed boldly, "See, I have been listening!" OOC; Yes, but she messed up, if you need help to figure it out I'll tell you! I think Lunarpaw has been studying though! [/sub]

Mistheart opened her eyes in an ‘oh really’ sort of way, she could not quite believe that her stubborn apprentice knew things when she failed to show her knowledge in any way. Her pale tabby tail had slowed in twitching slightly as she left the herbs on the ground to listen to apprentice attempt to defend herself.
As Lunarpaw recited what she knew Mistheart listened carefully for any mistakes, there were only a few and they were only minor that she would learn in time. ’Well done Lunarpaw, I guess I misjudged you,’ she mewed truthfully, but then it is easy to do when she is throwing herbs everywhere she added in her head. ’There are a few mistakes here though.’ She sat down on the hard floor of the den and wrapped her tail around herself. ’You were correct in saying that Catmint is used for Greencough and Whitecough, it is also relaxing to a cat. Dock is soothing to cats wound, correct, along with Goldenrod Poultice and Comfrey as you said. Wild garlic, Marigold, Horsetail, Dried Oak leaves and Burdock roots can all heal infection your right, but Chervil roots can also. Poison can be expelled by Yarrow and Nettles can counter act any poison in the body. Thyme is not for bellyaches but calms cats well along with Poppy seeds. You are however correct in saying that Juniper berries, Watermint and Chervil all heal bellyaches. Feverfew is good for cats with a fever, including high temperatures. Tansy is good for curing coughs, however honey is more for sore throats after breathing in smoke or things.’ she finished her run through of what Lunarpaw had mentioned. She was surprised that she had remembered so much, it was natural for her to have got some wrong as she was only a young apprentice.
As Lunarpaw became more sure of herself and turned her nose to the air Mistheart could not help but think she was still to full of herself. ’I admit you have been listening,’ she mewed, she had calmed down somewhat now but she knew she still had the mess to clean up. ’But that does not change the fact that what you did here was foolish!’ she finished waiting for the apprentice to respond, hoping she would help her clean it up, it would be good for her.
[[OOC-What do you mean she messed up? Some of the herbs she mentioned?]]

The white apprentice fluffed up her fur against Mistheart's cold words. Her bright eyes surveyed the incredibly out-of-order den. She mumbled under her breath, and began sweeping the poppy seeds back together with her tail.
She padded over to the mixed up herbs, her tail trailing on the ground and her ears pressed back flat. She began sorting out the piles, sneaking glares at Mistheart when she thought her mentor wasn't looking. The worst thing about being a Medicine Cat is having to keep everything so neat! Lunarpaw thought. She imagined herself oneday with her own apprentice, bossing her around like Mistheart. I hope I'm never this grumpy when I'm a real Medicine Cat!
Wrinkling her nose, Lunarpaw turned her head over her shoulder and asked, "If no cats are sick right now, why can't I have just a little fun?" She placed the last of the marigold into it's correct stack, and sat up and began licking her paws.

Mistheart noticed her apprentices tail fluff up and rolled her eyes, she didn’t understand she was trying to teach her the ways of a medicine cat. She shook away the thought and helped her sweep up the poppy seeds.
As Lunarpaw started to unmix the herbs she smiled a little, at least she hadn’t left her to clean them all up by herself, she had taken some responsibility for her actions at least. Even if she was glaring at her, in a clearly fowl mood. I hope she learns soon. she thought to herself, she knew the apprentice still had plenty of time, but it would be nice having an apprentice that could help more rather than compliment things.
As Lunarpaw finished cleaning up the herbs Mistheart sighed at her words. ’Lunarpaw, the thing you don’t understand is that a cat can become ill at anytime,’ she mewed trying to explain to her, ’And if the wrong herbs are given it could cause greater suffering.’ She knew that she had been working the apprentice hard lately. ’Maybe your right though, I can do things for myself for the rest of the day ok.’ she mewed, ’Go and play with the other apprentices if you want.’ she added, she knew she had been hard on the apprentice and wanted her to know she was not usually this grumpy.

Yellow eyes widened, the white she-cat was out of the den in a blur. It had been awhile since she had been out with the other apprentices! Actually, it was when she was still being sent those Nightmare's by StarClan for being a regular apprentice.
she was bounding out to the den, but she stopped. Her eyes wandered down to her paws as a new thought overflowed within her. I am incredibly selfish.... She thought remembering what Mistheart said.
’Lunarpaw, the thing you don’t understand is that a cat can become ill at anytime'
With her black tail dragging the she-cat grudgingly began back to the Medicine Cat's den. She figured she had a job to do, and she was already causing Mistheart so much trouble, she might as well earn the right to play with the others.
The she-cat slipped in behind Mistheart. Lunarpaw meowed softly, "Do you need me to do anything, Mistheart?"

[[OOC~That post was cute! ^.^]]
Just as Mistheart had expected the young apprentice was out of the den quicker than you could say Starclan. She smiled when she remembered Ravenstars words from the patrol earlier in the day, "I have faith in you, you'll teach her what she needs to know to be a good medicine cat." This gave her a little hope in both herself and Lunarpaw, they could do it, and she could become a great medicine cat.
She turned her attention back to the herbs, just having one last check that they were all in place once more. They seemed to be, although she noticed that the Marigold was running low. Maybe she could take Lunarpaw out tomorrow to look for some, it would be better to practice finding some easy herbs rather than the more tricky ones.
She did not hear Lunarpaw enter as once again her slight hearing impediment had let her down. ’Oh hello Lunarpaw!’ she mewed, surprised to see the apprentice back so soon. ’No it’s alright Lunarpaw, I think we shall wait until tomorrow, then we can collect some Marigold.’ she explained her plan. ’There seems to be rain on the way, best to stay in the dry for now.’ She licked the apprentice on the ear; it was times like these that she enjoyed having the apprentice with her. Yes, she could be a pain sometimes, but she also had her soft obedient side. ’Go and have some fun, after remembering what you told me you definitely deserve some fun!’ She smiled sweetly at the apprentice, she fancied a rest herself, and her paws definitely needed a good wash after today’s activities.

Lunarpaw's ears flattened in embarrassment. "Um.... well, while we're here I'll go get something from the fresh-kill pile!" Padding quickly as she could, Lunarpaw was out again.
The she-cat sighed, her white fur fluffed out of place. She took her time, grooming herself. As her toung rolled over her messy fur she thought about the other apprentices. I wonder where I would be now, if I didn't have those dreams....
She shook away the thought, remembring what she just told Mistheart. Grabbing two mice in her jaws, Lunarpaw padded back into the Medicine Den half groomed.
"There both for you, I'm not hungry." Her stomach didn't betray her on this, she was hungry - but she knew that she shouldn't take any. Medicine Cats are supposed to help their Clan, not themselves.
Lunarpaw laid down and began to finish licking down her silky coat.

Mistheart smiled at the apprentices thoughtfulness, ’Ok then Lunarpaw,’ she mewed as the apprentice padded out of the medicine cats den. At least she has good manners, they will always come in handy. she thought to herself.
Lunarpaw was taking awhile, but the pale tabby she cat did not mind, she was not particularly hungry at the minute. At Lunarpaws return Mistheart looked at the two mice she had brought, thinking it would be good for them to share a meal together. She looked a little down when the apprentice announced she did not want any of them. ’Are you sure?’ she asked, she didn’t want them both, ’I will leave one for you anyway; I’m not hungry enough to eat both!’ she mewed. When she took a small bite of one of the mice she took in the taste, thanking Starclan for giving them such delicious fresh kill. She glanced at Lunarpaw as she licked her silky coat, there seemed to be something troubling her lately.

Lunarpaw watched her mentor eat quietly. She finished grooming herself, but before she could do anything else her belly growled. Embarrasment flooded over the hwite she-cat again as she began to take swift bites out of the second mouse, finishing it in a few bites.
"Mistheart, have you ever wondered what it would be like as a Warrior?" Remembering when she was a normal apprentice, those two brief days, Lunarpaw laid down and began to dig through her memories.
Taking on the dares from the older apprentices, fighting with the other cats, competitions on who could catch the most prey.... Lunarpaw knew that she was a Medicine Cat now. Still, she had to wonder what would happen if StarClan had picked a different cat.

Mistheart finished her mouse and looked at Lunarpaw just as the apprentices tummy growled giving away her hunger. Mistheart smiled at her and shook her head. ’Here, have this,’ she mewed, but before she had almost finished talking Lunarpaw had already began to eat.
At the question Lunarpaw asked next Mistheart was a little taken aback, does she wish she was on the way to being a warrior? she wondered to herself. ’No I don’t even want to think about being a warrior!’ she mewed firmly; many of the cats in the clan knew that she was totally against fighting in any form. ’Battles only bring bloodshed and death! I am thankful I’m not apart of that, but can help heal those that are!’ she finished on a calmer note; she did love her job and could never even dream of changing it.
She looked at Lunarpaw, she seemed to lost in her own thoughts, ’What do you think Lunarpaw?’ she asked, ’Do you wish you had stayed a normal apprentice?’ She knew that it was Starclans choice that she be the medicine cat apprentice, but she was allowed her own opinion at least.

Twitching, Lunarpaw thought about it. Would I really have preferred to stay as a regular apprentice? She wondered. She subcounciously licked the blood from her muzzle, deep in thought.
"I guess I wouldn't. I like it here with you, but I would also fight to defend NightClan if I had to." Her white paws slid out in front of her, Lunarpaw's jaws opened into a soft yawn. "Still, we never have to hunt for our own food.... that makes me feel kind of lazy."
Her white fur rippled over her muscles as she padded over to the nest where she stayed, in the front of the Medicine Den. The she-cat curled up into a ball. Lunarpaw slowed her breathing, and waited for StarClan to call her into rest. The apprentice hadn't realized until now how tired she was, and easily fell into a deep slumber.
