He was lost in thoughts about his prospective Clan when Misty popped up, asking him what he was doing. Sitting and giving his chest fur a couple quick licks, he meowed, "Thinking...." It was a while before he said anything else, "Hey, Misty... would you ever join a Clan again?" he looked at her curiously. Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad thing to start a new Clan, Misty could help him, she was born in the Clans. She could tell him everything he needed to know about Clan life, and he could take what he wanted from it and leave out all the rest. With Misty's help, he might be able to shape the perfect Clan.
He stared out into the valley below. From up here, he could see the forests where NightClan and TreeClan lived (he wondered briefly what Dawnpelt was doing right now), he could see the open meadow where LightningClan made their home, and the riverlands where RainClan lived, as well as the rocky lands of StoneClan far across the valley. He wondered if this is what StarClan saw, what the Tribe of Endless Hunting might see.... He closed his eyes, awaiting Misty's answer, letting the cold wind of the mountains buffet his fur. The sun was still shining brightly and it still warmed him, even with the cold wind.

She sat beside the dark loner, her own silver tail wrapped around her, one paw raised as she cleaned it of the moist soil after the nights storm. Misty gave a sceptical look at Maverick as he simply said ‘thinking’ somebodies not very talkative this morning! she thought to herself. She brought her paw over her right ear as the loner began to talk once again. She needed to think about this question for a while, she wouldn’t mind having the safety of a clan around her, but in the clan she had been in she had never ever received that, not even as a kit. ’I don’t think I would no…’ she mewed honestly, ’I told you my clan didn’t take great care of me… I wouldn’t want that to happen again when I can be out here with no harm from others…’ she added, although she knew there was harm around them, but she would rather be alone that how she was in the clan.
The silver tabby followed Mavericks gaze over the forest below. I wonder what he is thinking about? she thought to herself, oh let me guess… that she cat he likes! It didn’t take her long to jump to this conclusion. She caught site of the large rivers that marked out Rainclan territory, but she could not bare to think of her former clan. They must have a new leader by now! she thought happily and her ears pricked, and maybe my mum is with Starclan! These two thoughts made her wonder whether the clan would be the same as it was when she left, or whether it would be kinder now, although she knew that the leader could still be the same and so would not welcome her back, and she also knew that the new leader might not know who she was, so would be unlikely to let a loner into the clan. She sighed and then looked at Maverick again as he looked in thought once again.

His ears pricked at her response and he turned his molten amber gaze to her, "You mean... you'd never...." He trailed off and was silent for a while, not even really finishing his sentence. He stared out across the Clan territories once more, unblinking, before his gaze snapped back to Misty and he stood up suddenly, "But, Misty... what if... what there was a new Clan? A Clan with new rules and codes and live by, a Clan of freedom.... What if you could still go wherever you wanted, but you knew you could always come back to a place where you were safe and others cared about you?" His gaze was intense as he looked over at her, his long fur blowing around him in the wind, "What then? What if this new Clan wasn't like the others, was so different, and yet... similar...? You still wouldn't even consider joining it?"
His tail twitched back and forth, and he finally asked, "What if we made our own Clan? We can let other cats join if they want, and... and we can do whatever we want! I don't know what it is like in the Clans, but you do, and we could be as alike or as different from them as we wanted!" he was geting very excited at this idea. It was perfect! Then, if Dawnpelt ever needed to come join him as a loner, they wouldn't really be alone. They'd have MountainClan to help take care of them if they ever really needed it, or else they could just be alone and do whatever they wanted! But, if Misty wouldn't help him, he wasn't sure if he could do it by himself, and somehow he didn't think she would. She seemed pretty adamant about not being a part of a Clan, but he had to try! He supposed if she didn't agree, he could try to find some other cat who would help him....

The silver she cat was a little taken aback by Mavericks sudden bright gaze on her, had she upset him or something? She watched him curiously as he continued to watch over the forests below them, why is he thinking about the clans so bad, does he want to go to that girl? They wouldn’t welcome him, and then I would be on my own anyway… she thought to herself selfishly, only really thinking about being alone once more. As he continued she heard him out and listened to what he was saying, it all sounded a little strange to her, a clan of freedom? She knew that couldn’t be called a clan. ’You don’t seem to understand all clan things…’ she explained to him. ’What about Starclan?’ she mewed pointing to the sky with her tail, although Silverpelt was not out at the minute. ’And the warrior code? That doesn’t allow for freedom!’ her voice was getting slightly more edgy as she spoke so she stopped herself there.
When the tom beside her continued she flicked her tail a little frustrated. ’It won’t work Maverick!’ she mewed simply but firmly, she knew she couldn’t help lead a clan, she had been no good in her own so nothing would change here. ’You can’t just make another clan, Starclan has to decide the clans faith.’ And with that she lay her head on her paws and set her blue gaze on Rainclan territory, avoiding Mavericks for awhile at least, she wasn’t sure how her own little speech may have made him feel, he really seemed to like the idea of making another clan. If the other clans found out we were here, making a new clan all of the peacefulness he thinks we will have will be gone before you can say ‘mountains’ and then we will have the same old competing for territory and prey and all will be bad again! she thought running all the bad parts of clan life through her head once more, and I couldn’t deal with that so I would have to leave again, find somewhere else to live…

Maverick's ears twitched at Misty's reply. It was quite obvious that her life in RainClan had turned her off to Clan living for good, but Maverick was determined. Taking a deep breath, he relieved her of his heavy gaze by looking back out over Clan territory, "Misty... we can make a new Clan, one different from the others. We can make a new warrior code, our own warrior code... and I told you, I don't let any cat decide my destiny but me, not a Healer, not a Leader, not the Tribe of Endless Hunting or StarClan. I am the only cat who can decide my destiny, and if I want to start a new Clan I won't let any cat stop me."
His long, flowing tail curled around his paws as he fell silent once more. He gazed around at the mountains, protecting the valley in which all five Clans lived, and mewed softly, "MountainClan...." is chest swelled slightly at the thought of the new Clan, "We would let any cat take refuge with us... they could stay if they wanted... or leave, and come back again as many times as they wished.... We'd support each other when we needed support, and just sort of... leave each other alone otherwise, if that's what we agreed upon. No cat would have to do anything they didn't want to." He knew he was repeating himself a little, but he just had to try to get Misty to see how great the idea really was!

Misty listened to Mavericks next speech, relieved that he had finally taken his gaze off of her, she was getting a little self conscious, which was the first time ever for her. ’If you want to start a new clan then that’s fine Maverick…’ she mewed dismissively, ’But I don’t think it will work in the long run, things will not stay that way if the others were to find out about you…’ She had already thought about this but Maverick didn’t seem to realise the trouble it could cause. Some things are aligned for us already, we can’t decide everything for ourselves, she thought not wanting to voice this incase the tom beside her got angry, but she couldn’t help but now think that his ‘mate’ in the other clan was a perfect example. They hadn’t planned the kits, it just happened, leaving the decision down to someone else.
As Maverick grew silent for a while she got a little worried about what was going through his head now. She sat up and licked a silver paw trying to take her mind off of things. But when he spoke again she rolled her eyes, he is really desperate for this to happen! she thought getting a little frustrated now that he couldn’t see the bad parts. ’Is this all to protect your mate!!’ she asked a little grouchily, her silver tail flicking a little at the tip. ’So she will have somewhere to go when her beloved clan kick her out!’ She knew she may be going to far by saying this but she hoped it may get the topic away from ‘Mountainclan.’ She didn’t believe in love, only fools did.

Maverick layed down, a bit dejected by Misty's continued refusal to see the good side of his idea, "Misty... I know things might not work out... no other cat might even want to be a part of MountainClan... but I have nothing to lose in trying, and what do you have to lose? I would never ask any cat to fight against the other Clans unless it was what they wanted to do, so if they didn't believe in MountainClan strongly enough if we were ever discovered, they could just leave.... It won't be like the Clans as you know them, and it definitely won't be like the Tribe...." He paused briefly, "What's the harm in trying?"
When she went off about him trying to protect Dawnpelt, his ears lay flat against the back of his head and he remained silent for a while, then sighed, "That's not the only reason... though... it is part of it...." He looked up at the sky, "Don't you ever get lonely out here? I know I do.... It would be nice to have other cats around, wouldn't it? At least, every now and then. And... there's Demon wandering around out here. You're pretty safe from him in the Clans, but we loners... we don't have much of a chance against him. Wouldn't it be nice to know there are cats out here who will help you out?" The truth of it was, Maverick was just lonely out here, all on his own. He was happier than he knew he'd ever be in one of the five Clans or the Tribe, but he was still lonely....

Misty continued to listen to what Maverick was saying, he seemed to have a never ending supply of ideas for his so called ‘Mountainclan.’ The last few of them actually seemed to make some sense to her, although she knew he couldn’t really call it a clan if the cats betrayed you so easily. ’I guess that might work…’ she mewed knowing too well that he would only come up with more ideas and she would not be able to win this argument. ’But do you think anyone would want to join? Like you said, it’s lonely up here in the mountains. There are no people to join us…’ she mewed truthfully thinking about any other cats she had ever seen up here. Then she realised, no one other than Maverick, she had travelled along way from the others as they disliked her flirty ways.
She looked at her silver paws as Mavericks ears flattened to his head, I think I touched a nerve, she thought to herself, desperately trying not to smile. When the amusement had passed she looked up at him again to respond to the rest of his speech. ’A little I guess, but I’m used to it now…’ she mewed, ’I’ve been out here since I was 7 moons old.’ she reminded him, her leader had thrown her out as she complained about her neglect from her mother, he had never believed her. ’You can never trust anyone to help you completely…’ she mewed, not even your own mother. ’We could always give it ago though I guess…’ she concluded with a lick of her silver chest.

He gave a short sigh of relief as it seemed she was finally coming around to the idea. He knew she was still skeptical. Afterall... he was skeptical, but like he had said, there was no harm in trying. He sighed again when she asked about cats wanting to join. He wasn't sure... he knew it would take a while to get some cats to join, but..., "There are more cats out here than you might think. I've been out here for too many moons to count and have met a few of them, and they've mentioned others that they've met to. It's just that... the mountains are so big, it's not common for us to run into each other."
He sat up once more, feeling a little more confident now. As Misty spoke again, he couldn't help thinking how negative the she-cat was, not that she didn't have good reason to be.... She hadn't had a very good life, it seemed, and didn't really seem to have any faith in others. Looking over at her again, his eyes softened, "I know you didn't have a very good experience with other cats... but not all cats are like that, Misty.... I'm not like that. I would've stood by you, if I'd been in your Clan back then...." His ears twitched, it was for reasons like Misty's past that he wanted to make MountainClan. It would be a safe haven for cat with no where to go, a place where they wouldn't be treated badly ever again, "Any cat that joins MountainClan will always have me there, I'll help any cat with anything they need me for, as long as it doesn't interfere with another cat's dreams... another cat's life. I'll be there for you too, Misty... if you want."

The silver she cat listened to the dark tom that sat beside her, he was older than herself and seemed to know much more about the mountains in which they were living than she did. She thought about it for a while, more loners like themselves, all joining together as one, to have the company at all times. Then when they felt like it they could wander off and do as they pleased and be allowed to come back at their own will. It all seemed like a dream to Misty, but it would be a good dream, one that, thinking about it again might just work. ’Let’s attempt it then Maverick.’ she mewed finally, he had convinced her that there ‘Mountainclan’ would be different to past experience.
At the mention of her past her thoughts were interrupted and she looked down at her feet, her eyes staring unblinking. ’Thanks Maverick,’ she mewed quietly as she began to purr, it was hardly audible above the whispering of the wind as it blew around the mountains. She took a step forward and stood beside him to give him a gentle nudge on the shoulder, she was glad she had finally found someone that was willing to give her a chance, although she still couldn’t help but think that when she finally started to be herself around this cat he would not want her around anymore. As he said he would be there for her she looked up, her eyes twinkling with an emotion she had not felt before, she didn’t know what it was. ’Thanks Maverick,’ she mewed once again, ’I’ll be here for you too!’ she added in a half flirtatious way.
[[Lol I just had an idea, Misty can get to like Maverick as she has never loved before and she can torment Dawnpelt if they meet by flirting with him!]]

((sounds like a good idea to me! ^.^))
Maverick let loose a happy purr that she had finally come out and agreed with him, "Alright then... we'll have to start spreading the word among the loners around here, as soon as we can find some.... We need a... a place... a place that MountainClan cats can meet each other.... Do you understand what I mean? A kind of... permanent place where MountainClan cats can stay when they want to be with each other, when their sick of being alone and want company...." Then the word the Clans used for it came to his mind, he had momentarily forgotten it, "A camp! I think... we should find a place for that before we do anything else." He nodded affirmatively, then looked over at Misty, "What do you think?"
He thought that he'd probably need to consult Misty on most things, to see what she thought might work better for their new Clan, and what would be utterly useless.... Now that he had gotten his point across to her, he realized he hadn't really thought out any plans to put it into action yet.... And what would he and Misty be to MountainClan, exactly? he wouldn't call himself MountainClan's leader... or healer. He didn't have any connection with StarClan or the Tribe of Endless Hunting, and he didn't want to act like a leader or healer, they seemed so... unapproachable and distant from the rest of the cats they lead. he wanted cats to feel free to talk to him, ask him for help or just... to have around. And the Tribe never had a sort of... second in command cat like he wanted Misty to be, that is, if she wanted to be. He wasn't sure what the Clans had. He only knew about leaders and warriors... and apprentices. He had no idea about medicine cats or deputies. His thinking was that a leader was like a healer... and both lead the Clan and took care of the sick and injured. He couldn't do that... he knew nothing about herbs.... He realized he had a lot to figure out before they could go searching for members!

Misty giggled as Maverick purred, he seemed happier now she had accepted the idea at last. She was still a little sceptical about getting the members but it was worth a try, the worst that could happen would be no members would want to join, but she could deal with that. ’Yea I know what you mean, a camp sounds like a great idea, but where abouts in this huge mountain is camp going to be exactly?’ she asked with amusement in her voice. ’And where are we going to get the loners from, you said yourself it is a huge mountain for them to roam around on.’ She knew they could always go looking for them, and that it would be a huge adventure for the pair of them, she would quite enjoy it in fact. But she knew that one thing would hold Maverick back from going travelling, his mate.
’So then… any ideas?’ she asked, she didn’t want to take control and suggest that he be the leader, it was his idea and he should decide everything. Misty wanted some part of the action, to be the deputy or whatever it was he wanted to call her. She didn’t want to much responsibility, not like in the clans, she didn’t want to be tied to her role. She knew that would be going against everything that Maverick had just said to her so she was thinking totally wrong about the whole thing. She gazed at Maverick with her pale yellow eyes. She was really starting to admire him now, I just wish he didn’t have a mate, she thought not quite believing that she had. Only yesterday when they met she was against falling in love, she had been her whole life. But now it seemed in the space of one morning that she was falling for the loner. Just her look the one cat she liked was already taken, but she knew deep down that wouldn’t stop her flirting ways.

Maverick thought for a moment on the subject of their camp. It's not like they didn't have options, they could probably find a dozen caves that would suit, but he wanted a place better known by loners than just some random cave... some place easy to find for those who knew where to look, and a place that didn't even exist as far as the Clans were concerned. He crossed his bront paws and laid his head upon them, his golden gaze meeting the mountains on the far side of the valley, above StoneClan and RainClan territory. Suddenly he sat up again, after looking at a place where one of the mountains had a strange split in it. He had been there a couple times, and that was where he had met most of the loners wandering around out here. It was a place where many loners went to get water and take shelter if they knew a storm was on its way. Cats liked to call it, "The Oasis...," he mewed, glancing over at Misty. It was the only sure source of water in the mountains unless you traveled into the valley where the Clans lived.
"Have you ever been there, Misty? The Oasis? It right over there," he reached a paw forward, as if he was pointing, "There... between RainClan and StoneClan territory. I think every loner must have been there at least once! We should head there... the trek will probably take about two or three days, sicne it's all the way around the other side of the valley, and we can't really cut through the middle and into Clan territory...." Maverick knew the Clans didn't really mind his presence, but he wasn't sure about Misty's relationship with them since it seemed she disliked them so much, and besides... they'd probably have to cut through RainClan territory if they went that way, and he didn't want to put Misty through that. Also, they wouldn't be able to hunt on the Clan territories, and they'd probably be on them for about a day, maybe a day and a half. No, they had to go all the way around, but first... he had to let Dawnpelt know he might be around for a couple days so she wouldn't worry about him if he didn't show up. His ears twitched at the thought. He might not be able to see Dawnpelt as much with the planning he and Misty would need to do for MountainClan, and looking for members and just figuring everything out.... He sighed, it would be worth it, in the end, especially if Dawnpelt and their kits ever needed a place to go, "If you want... you can head that way and I'll meet up with your as soon as I can... I need to... do something first." He wasn't sure he wanted Misty following him to see Dawnpelt and finding out who she was and what Clan she was in, just in case. She didn't think Misty would do anything to get his mate in trouble, afterall, she had said she would be there for him, and part of that would be keeping his and Dawnpelt's love a secret, but still.... If she wanted to come, he wouldn't tell her no, but he'd still feel reluctant....

She watched as Maverick lay his head on his paws, he was definitely set on making this new clan. His mind was always ready for new changes and questions she might have, it was as if he had thought about it many times before. Misty lay herself down beside him, her silver pelt shining compared to the dusty side of the mountain, she could feel her yellow eyes betraying her feelings now so did not look at Maverick until he took her mind off of him. As he mentioned the Oasis she nodded and felt that she would be able to look at him now. She had never ‘been’ there as such, she had passed through it a once when she was only an apprentice and leaving the clan for the first and last time. But she had not stayed; she had wanted to be as far away from the clan as possible and had never taken much notice of what it was about.
’I might have passed it once, it’s close to Rainclan territory you say?’ she was pretty sure she knew where he meant. ’You want to head all the way over there!’ she mewed in shock standing back up again onto her paws. She didn’t know whether she was more worried about the distance they had to travel or the fact that it was so close to her old neglectful clan. They might not recognise me anyway, she told herself silently and reassuringly, they may have a new leader and things! She didn’t know why it mattered to her, there was no chance she was going back there and it wasn’t like her and Maverick were going into there territory or anything. She nodded reluctantly, if it was the best place to find loners and the main water source she supposed it would make the best place for there ‘Mountainclan’. As he mentioned starting on the journey while he did something else first she eyed him suspiciously. Off to see his little mate? she wondered to herself, this could be my chance to see who she is. Misty looked over the mountains again, she wasn’t sure she could find her way over all of these mountains anyway, and she didn’t want to go without Maverick just in case. She wasn’t as used to these parts of the mountains as he was, she hadn’t wondered them all freely, she had simply came from one place to another to find shelter, she never thought to take in the scenery around her in case she ever needed to find her way. She thought she would be on her own for ever and would never need to go anywhere specific or run the risk of losing anyone, turns out that was a mistake on her part. ’But…’ she mewed as she turned back to him, her eyes flicking from him and the mountains ahead of her. ’I’ll wait here for you if that’s alright?’ she asked him, she knew that from this spot on top of there little cavern she would be able to see him below with his mate. She wasn’t going to do anything to hurt anyone, she was just curious to see where she belonged and whether this she cat was as pretty as Misty saw herself to be.

He nodded at her exclaimed words, and purred, slightly amused, "It is not as far as it seems, besides, it is the best place in all of the mountains to have our camp. We won't even have to really look for members... it's more than likely that they'll find us without even trying! It's the perfect place for MountainClan's camp." He stared across the valley at the small split in the mountain where the Oasis was located. Looking back over at her as she requested waiting for him here, he nodded, "Sure... if that's what you want," he could see no problem with her waiting here for him.
Curling his tail around his paws, he sat looking down into TreeClan territory, wondering if he'd be able to find Dawnpelt around this time of day. He knew she might be busy with her warrior duties, but he couldn't just leave without telling her he wouldn't be around for some time.... He hoped she wouldn't be angry with him for leaving her now, when she was carrying their kits. Afterall... it was partly for her he was even doing this, though he didn't think it would be a good idea to tell her about his plans for MountainClan quite yet. In time he would, but not yet. Standing, he looked over at Misty again, "Well then... I suppose I should get going. I'll be back as soon as I can." He flicked his tail by way of good-bye and see ya later and leapt from the overhanging rock, padding confidently down the mountain side, cometimes leaping from boulder to boulder to save time.
((maybe he could meet her in the middle of the patrol with Nettlefur? She could go off to catch them something to eat or something... and... do you think we should continue Misty and Maverick in the MountainClan camp board? We can still have them traveling there if you want, or should we do it here, and wait until they actually reach it to post there?))
