OOC : This is later in the day so the fire has had time to build. Greenleaf 19 Yr 4 TreeClan || 26 Moons || Warrior-Queen Something was wrong. The air smelt wrong, like charred wood and smoke. She'd come out here hunting with one of her kits, to spend time with her family, and this was what happened. Eyes set wide in her face as flames started creeping out of the trees towards them. The flowers would catch and it would spread through the clearing, destroying everything in its path. Fire in the valley.
"Mother what is that?" Amberpaw, her beloved daughter.
The young she-cat snapped out of her trance and rounded on kit. "Run! Make for the water!" She nudged the smaller she-cat and broke into a full run as well. Fire from the border, fire from LightningClan's territory. And the trees were going up rapidly, dried in the Greenleaf heat and leading to the spread of the blaze.
"Mother, what's going on?!"
"Fire, its fire! Keep running!" She bellowed over the sound of wood catching behind them. It had gained enough strength that they had to run, she couldn't risk one of them succumbing to the smoke or the flames. She didn't know how far it would come, so getting to the other side of the brook was for the best.
A loud crack sounded overhead and several flaming branches came down in front of her, while Amberpaw kept running for a moment then stopped. "Mother!"
The gray she-cat backed away from the branch. "Go back to camp! I'll find a way around it. Go, I'll be okay!"
To Amberpaw her mother's words were law. She did as she bade even as every instinct she had told her she was doing the wrong thing. She still used her lengthening legs to her advantage and ran for home, swimming the shallow brook across and heading into camp. She looked around frantically for a moment then spotted Gorsetail and slid right up to him. "Gorsetail! Gorsetail, Gorsetail! We were in the clearing, there's fire and smoke and the trees caught fire and mother's on the other side of some fallen branches and..." She took a breath. "Please help her!"
Despite her age the young apprentice then laid flat on the ground and started to cry, terrified and confused at what had happened.

Gorsetail Deputy of TreeClan i wish everyone was loved tonight and somehow stop this endless fight Amberpaw rushed into camp as if there was a fire on her tail. Alarmed at the rush of paws that skidded to a halt right in front of him, he turned to see her green eyes wide with panic only to be attacked by an onslaught of words mere seconds later. They came out in a rush. Though he needed a moment to replay what she had said, once the words registered, he leapt into action. Understandably distraught, the apprentice collapsed at his paws, and he looked up at Feathercloud, whom he had just been telling to lead a hunting patrol with Silentsong and Fawnpaw. Green eyes slid to the mute warrior. ”Silentsong, take care of Amberpaw and Fawnpaw.” The deputy looked at the latter of the two apprentices, silently ordering her to stay with the warrior. Back to Silentsong: ”Find Aspenpaw. Keep them safe.” He turned to his close friend, meeting her clear blue gaze with a determined one of his own. They did not need to voice the thought that they both shared: that she would join him in his search, not because he told her to but because that was the type of cat she was. If he was to find their missing clan mate, then there were few others he would want by his side. Before turning to retrace Amberpaw’s steps, he hastily ducked down and licked the top of her head. In what he hoped was more comforting than alarmed, he promised her, ”We’ll find your mother and bring her back.” And then, with a flick of his tail toward Feathercloud, he was off, paws flying over the ground. Tall clouds of smoke billowed through the trees and grew thicker as they carried on, and he was forced to crouch awkwardly as he moved along the path. Up ahead, flames crackled and danced along the branches that had crashed to the ground. He split off to the side of the path, getting as close to the fire as he dared. ”Moonfeather!” Gorsetail called, hoping that his voice would carry over the roar of the flames. Eyes watered as he scanned the area for a way around before looking back at the she-cat who had accompanied him. ”Feathercloud, do you see her?”

Feathercloud To say events unfurled quickly would have been the understatement of the last one hundred seasons. One moment, Gorsetail had been assigning her to lead a hunting patrol with Silentsong and Fawnpaw. The next, Fawnpaw's sister Amberpaw tore through the camp entrance, wailed words no TreeClanner in their right mind would ever want to hear, and proceeded to crumble into a heap on the ground. Silentsong was the first to move, wrapping her lush-furred frame tightly around the trembling apprentice and hurriedly rasping her tongue comfortingly over the she-cat's ear. Briefly, Feathercloud recalled that Silentsong and Moonfeather had been queens together.
Gorsetail's gaze landed upon her moments after he instructed Silentsong to watch over the three kits. As the tortoiseshell warrioress gently nosed Amberpaw to a stand, plume-like tail sweeping around to shepherd Fawnpaw toward the apprentices' den, Feathercloud registered the significance behind the Clan deputy's stare. Tipping her muzzle in a nearly invisible nod, the silver warrioress indicated her acceptance of the task. The deputy wasted no time in dashing away, the longer-limbed she-cat having to adjust her gait to fall into stride with him. By no means were they traveling slowly; Feathercloud simply had an easier time covering more ground with every bound than her smaller-framed friend.
It wasn't long before they screeched to a halt, their pathway blocked by a spattering of fallen, flaming tree branches. Gritting her teeth and exhaling sharply, Feathercloud worked to expel the smoke that stung her nostrils with every breath, squinting through the raging flames and billowing smoke in a desperate attempt to find their missing Clanmate. "Moonfeather!" She called into the roar, her silver ears flicking too and fro as she skirted the hazardous branches. Her tail waved uneasily as she cast a glance back to Gorsetail who's eyes met hers.
She was part way through shaking her head when an idea crashed into her. Her blue eyes widened, and she quickly turned her attention to the surrounding trees. Although the fire was spreading quickly, it had yet to consume all the trees surrounding them. "Hang on!" She called back. "I'm going up!" Before he could argue, the silver feline launched herself against the nearest safe tree, claws sliding out to provide a hold as she weaved her way skillfully up the trunk. Pausing with her body half-pulled up on the lowest bough, she scanned the ground on the opposite side of the mess of burning branches.
Smoke still twisted heavily through the air, though now her line of sight was not distracted by the rippling flames. A blue-gray pelt caught her attention among the dark tongues of smoke. "Moonfeather!" She called to the young mother, before looking back toward Gorsetail. "I see her!" Adjusting her grip on the trunk, Feathercloud's ice blue eyes searched the neighboring trees, picking out an imaginary path along the still-undamaged timber. "I... I think I can get to her!" She told him, daring to meet his gaze. Feathercloud suspected he wouldn't like her idea, but the situation left little room for choice.

Fawnpaw 10 MOONS - SHE-CAT - TREECLANFawnpaw's pelt stood on end at the sight of her sister crying. Amberpaw, no! Was she hurt? What was wrong? Her green eyes were round as acorn-tops, and it wasn't until Silentsong swept in and ushered her sister away that Fawnpaw got the chance to speak to her. She quickly pressed her nose into Amberpaw's neck fur, hoping the gesture would bring her comfort. "Where's mother? Where's Moonfeather?"
In her haste to see if Amberpaw was alright, the deputy's words - just before he'd disappeared - had been ignored. But she'd heard them, and they drifted back to the forefront of her mind at precisely that moment.
”We’ll find your mother and bring her back.”
The apprentice darted to the center of camp, and then climbed the ancient stump. Not caring if anyone saw her, she tried to get a better view of the territory, and hoped, desperately to see glimpses of her mother's familiar pelt somewhere amongst the foliage. Nothing.
"Where's Feathercloud?" A tom's voice interrupted her search, and she scrambled down, shaking her head. "I think she went with Gorsetail." The pale tom, a senior warrior by the name of Sprucefur, had a determination about him that told Fawnpaw he was going after his mate.
Fawnpaw returned to Silentsong and Amberpaw, stress making her tail lash. She knew Silentsong couldn't say the words 'she'll be alright', but she still looked to Thornpaw's and Finchpaw's mother for comfort, silently pressing her flank against Amberpaw's. StarClan, keep her safe please! As we soared above the town that never loved me I realized I finally had a family ❋ 235 Words ❋ Justice , BlooRey DVD ❋ Notes
58 Moons || Senior Warrior || Tom there's a light that you give me when I'm in shadow He had gleaned as much from the situation that something was wrong with Moonfeather. Sprucefur didn't need to be close to the loner-turned-Clanmate in order to care about what happened to the she-cat. She had become a friend of Silentsong's and Feathercloud's; a member of TreeClan. That was enough.
That, and the very real possibility that Feathercloud might get herself in danger to save Moonfeather was enough reason to push his pace from a canter to a proper run. He kept his jaws slightly parted, letting the familiar scent of his mate guide him into the forest - and towards the smoke. The pale warrior had enough sense in his head to slow down the closer he got to the fire at the edge of their territory, and with the smoke in his eyes, he persisted, until he tracked Gorsetail's scent to a chaotic scene.
Broken flames burned in their path, and he could catch a glimpse of Moonfeather looking terrified on the other side. There's no way to reach her. StarClan, were they going to have to watch her die? Don't panic. Panicking solves nothing.
Wait - where was Feathercloud?
He searched left, right. Then he looked up.
Sprucefur's light yellow gaze widened. "Feathercloud!" He called, and then regretted it instantly, afraid to have startled her out of the tree. "Feathercloud get down!" Was she insane? He followed the path of the branches she was on, and realized what her plan was. He sent a hasty prayer to StarClan that this wouldn't end in disaster. Leg shattering, rib-cracking, fur-scorching disaster.
Giving himself a shake to get his focus back, Sprucefur began to kick dirt onto the flaming branches, trying to smother it enough that Moonfeather could get free in case Feathercloud's plan didn't work.

Amberpaw 10 Moons, She-Cat, TreeClan "Fire. She's stuck in the fire. She made me leave, she wouldn't let me stay with her." She wailed, letting herself be led out of the middle of camp where others could care for her. Her body shook and she couldn't seem to stop crying. She wanted her mother, and didn't care if that made her sound childish. Her mother's word was law, absolute and unarguable. She'd had to come back. The only cat she listened to that closely was Moonfeather, and that would likely always be true. Any cat taht could survive as much as she had and still continue living deserved to be respected, even if she surrounded herself with those that maybe didn't see her for everything she had to offer. At least that's how Amberpaw saw it.
She finally felt her sister sidle up next to her, and her cries quieted under the knowledge that her family was here. She couldn't be a kit in front of Fawnpaw, she was supposed to be more mature than this. But she couldn't help it, she was scared and wished it all to be a bad dream.
Green eyes finally rose to her sister, her nest mate and littermate. And wondered if Aspenpaw was okay too. And wondered what would become of them all. "She'll come back, she has to."
And what a lovely night it is To walk a moonlit field To see the softer shades That are by starlight now revealed ✦ Words ✦ BlooRey DVD ✦ Notes-- TreeClan || 26 Moons || Warrior-Queen She heard voices calling her name, rose above the noise caused by flaming branches and scorching grass. It was uncomfortably hot already and the smoke made it hard to see anything. She paced where she was, racing up and down the length of the blockade trying to find a way across. She had to get out of here, the fire was almost on top of her.
And then she saw a flash of silver, a pelt over her head. And Feathercloud saying she could see her, that she thought she could reach her. "Don't you dare come down here! Then they'll be two of us stuck! I couldn't live with myself if I was the source of someone else's pain." A branch fell from a lower part of the tree Feathercloud was in, nearly squashing the long limbed she-cat trapped below. She yowled and darted back, ending up coughing as smoke curled through the air and into her lungs.
"Feathercloud-" She devolved into coughing, trying to clear the smoke from her lungs. "Is it a path I can travel? I don't climb!" She wanted to get out of here, but she didn't want Feathercloud to get stuck. She'd raised her voice to be heard, but the louder she got the more she coughed.
She noticed then, because it had taken her this long to realize, that her other rescuer was Gorsetail. Her heart lightened a little at that. He was someone she would say she wanted to call her friend, if only they were able to get to know each other more. He'd been patient with her, and that earned him much more in her esteem than he probably realized.
Gorsetail, and after a few minutes she heard another voice, another tom. Sprucefur, maybe?
