Falconstorm37 MOONS, MEDICINE CAT OF TREECLAN He hadn't thought he'd be making this journey alone so soon. Bluejay had been younger than him, still in her prime and with much more good she could have done for the clan. To have her taken so swiftly, on the tail ends of the ravages of greencough, was a heartbreaking blow. He was exhausted, still thin from all the stress and running about he'd done with the sick of TreeClan. The herb stores were low, there were queens and kits and clanmates all expecting him to help them with the normal things that happened. A thorn stuck in an apprentice's paw, a first time queen worried if she'd be a good mother. A clan expecting him to carry on. But he had outlived his mentor, who was also his junior. Where was the sense in that?
Falconstorm's heart was heavy as he climbed the path towards Moon Tree. He was silent, even at the coaxing of his guard to the contrary. There was nothing to talk about. He'd failed Bluejay. She'd needed him, and he'd failed to save her. The large tom widened his steps, determined not to let the nightmares that plagued him follow him to this sacred place. So much had happened in so short a frame of time, and he wondered if StarClan would give him some form of solace when he finally slept beneath the light of Moon Tree. Would Bluejay come to see him? Would he see anything at all, divided as he still was.
No one knew about his semi-frequent meetings with the StoneClan she-cat Herondive, nor of his growing feelings towards her. Nothing he could ever act on, as a Medicine Cat, but it remained. Funny, how fate gave him the perfect female right as he'd chosen a path where he'd never have her properly in his life. No mate, no kits, no great romance. Just the endless, lonely path of the Medicine Cat.
StarClan was cruel.
He took a deep breath as they finally arrived, letting his mind go blank. Now was the time to focus on the task at hand, not on the troubles of his mind. He sat down and waited for the others to arrive. He'd arrived first, he realized. And no Bluejay at his side. Another soft prayer to StarClan, and a final wish for no new faces this time. No more bad news.

Oakblaze had done well in finding Snake. The prospect of a kit starving to death, or worse, was in no way appealing to Smokefur. Thus the enthusiastic tom was leading Nightclans' little patrol all the way to the moon tree, good work deserved to be rewarded after all. Smokefur wasn't sure if Oakblaze loved traveling or just everything in general, it didn't matter however as he seemed to be pleased with his situation. Along for the ride was Shadowpaw who was now in the process of attending his first medicine cat meeting, his mentor desperately hoped that it was everything he wished it would be. The kind tom didn't deserve to be let down after all the good work he had done during the epidemic, as well as after the heartbreak he had suffered. Smokefur had fared well however, she had seen it all before and made peace with such tragedies long ago. Arriving second as it were Smokefur dipped her head towards the Treeclan medicine cat apprentice, who appeared to be alone. That wasn't a good sign at all, however she had no intention of pressing the tom. "Good evening Falconstorm."

curiosity is not a sin... ...but we should exercise caution with our curiosity Shadowpaw If someone had asked him last season what he wanted, more than anything else in the valley, he would have confidently answered to see the Moon Tree for myself. It aroused his curiosity like nothing else. A tree that glowed with moonlight, sheltered from the whole valley, a sacred place for medicine cats to lie under and commune with StarClan. If there was magic in this world, surely it was there?
This season, however, Shadowpaw would have asked for his father back. For his family to be happy and whole again. He felt as if he'd aged a dozen moons in so short a span of time. That didn't mean his excitement was diminished, at finally meeting StarClan and being sworn-in as Smokefur's apprentice, but the sleek young tom that kept pace at the tabby healer's side was a much more mature individual than the cat he'd been in greenleaf.
Grief still had its claws sunk deep into his skin, and he carried his sorrows with him as he left NightClan territory for the very first time. As he was led away from the only place he had ever known, Shadowpaw's surly expression began to ease, broken up like weak cloud-cover with the light of the half-moon shining down. Shadowpaw watched the world expand before him, horizons broadened as they traveled.
Soon, his tail was slightly raised, ears pricked, whiskers aquiver with the sure signs of excitement and interest. "Is it much farther?" He had mewed. He didn't feel tired; quite the opposite. He loved being out here, beyond the borders, with the night sky stretching above and the valley stretching below. It seemed to go on in all directions. Forever.
I didn't know the valley was so big... Shadowpaw felt small, and he quickly snapped his focus back onto Smokefur. He didn't want to get left behind, or somehow miss the obvious landmarkings that signaled they were getting close. Slowly, Smokefur's pace slowed, and Shadowpaw's feet tingled, sensing that they were almost there.
A pale tom, dense of coat and serious of face, was waiting for them at what looked like a cave mouth.
"Good evening Falconstorm." Smokefur greeted the tom, and Shadowpaw, recognizing the scent as TreeClan, immediately followed up with a polite greeting of his own. "Good evening, Falconstorm." Trying to look like he belonged here, Shadowpaw kept watch for Sandpaw, hoping the other apprentice would arrive soon; then he wouldn't seem so... young and inexperienced by comparison.
Shadowpaw nervously wet a paw and smoothed down a tuft of fur on his chest, trying to keep himself still. He didn't want to embarrass Smokefur in front of her peers. Their peers. "StarClan's in there?" whispered Shadowpaw, gesturing with the tip of his tail to the cave entrance.

Dawnblossom TreeClan was first to arrive - without Bluejay? - followed by Smokefur, and a young tom Dawnblossom had seen briefly at the Gathering but had not met yet. She smiled gently to all of the cats present, keeping her eyes on the distant moorlands of LightningClan, hoping Kindleflare could attend. "Greetings, Falconstorm, Smokefur."
The dark-furred NightClan cat seemed to brighten upon seeing Sandpaw, and Dawnblossom purred. It's good of him to have friends his own age. Every healer present looked tired and a little world-weary. It had been a half moon since StoneClan had managed to overcome their struggles with greencough; but for the other Clans, especially TreeClan, it looked as if they'd suffered much heavier casualties.
Dawnblossom's heart sank, as she looked at Falconstorm. Is Bluejay...? The kind, diplomatic healer was not the only familiar face missing. "Will we be seeing Ottersplash tonight?" Dawnblossom posed the question for all cats present, though it was for Smokefur especially; NightClan was the other Clan besides her own that shared a border with RainClan. Dawnblossom personally had seen neither hide nor whisker of the tabby tom, and that was worrisome.

Even in the midst of such an important thing as the meeting of the Medicine Cats, all Sandpaw could feel as he walked slowly next to Dawnblossom was world weary and tired. There had been too much death in the clans much too suddenly. He'd learned a hard lesson about life and death in the clans; and an even more important one about himself. He'd been so determined in taking care of his clanmates it had even gotten him sick and the nightmares from that yet lingered on his mind. He wanted to talk to someone about them, and the visions from StarClan the last time he'd been here, but he also felt maybe they wouldn't want to hear it because it was just supposed to be between he and StarClan. It made his fluffy tail bristle up to consider such a thing because then, how lonely his path would be. Not that he didn't enjoy learning all he could to heal others instead of having to learn how to hurt them like a Warrior would, but it was just...he was troubled. Shaking himself out of his dark thoughts, Sandpaw's ears tilted forwards as he could scent of a familiar cat and all at once his eyes lit up and his tail lifted high in excitement he didn't try to hide as he stepped forward just a bit. He almost did something wrong but caught himself and diverted instead to everyone else there. "Er...um..." He paused, pelt flushing hot, before deciding to do as his mother often did when introducing herself and go from there. "My greetings to you Falconstorm, Smokefur." He inclined his head politely, lean body taunt, before feeling like he'd done his part and turning to the one he really wanted to see. That spark of excitement was back in his eyes as he greeted the third cat present just now. "Shadowpaw! It's good to see you!" Now he didn't feel as if he stood out so much being so young and inexperienced as he was. -- Tags | Hellion Fawn Justice @zen @poptart BlooRey DVD

The ginger and white she-cat led the way over the final stretch to the Moon Tree's cavern, flanked by Tawnytail and Icewhisker. Kindleflare had, regrettably, been forced to pick two warriors that were not her siblings. She couldn't simply bring Nightstep and Shadewhisker all the time, and Brightpool had been busy this particular evening. She had nothing against the two senior warriors she had picked, trusting their abilities completely, she was just... Very much a family she-cat. If her parents had still been warriors, she likely would have asked them to come with her. As it was, elders were not appropriate traveling companions.
Dark amber eyes flicked up to the group of medicine cats gathered just ahead. She noticed Dawnblossom look up from the others, landing upon Kindleflare as she approached. Hurriedly signaling her two escorts that they could wait for her here, Kindleflare bounded forward to close the distance. For a moment, she worried she'd kept the medicine cats waiting. As she stepped up quietly beside Smokefur, however, she noticed another face that was not amongst them. Ottersplash had yet to show up. A-Again..? She worried, recalling his absence at the last medicine cat meeting. Was everything alright in RainClan?
Beginning with the gray healer at her side, Kindleflare greeted the attending medicine cats. "G-Greetings, Smokefur, Shadowpaw, Dawnblossom, S-Sandpaw, Falconstorm." She nodded to each in turn, offering the two young medicine cat apprentices a gentle smile in addition to the nod of her head. Yet Kindleflare had had to cut her greeting short, for she nearly greeted a form not present. W-Where... Where is B-Bluejay? She thought, her heart sinking in her chest. Oh S-StarClan, h-how many lives d-did greencough so v-violently take from u-us? |

[smear:ffffff]Swanfeather[/smear:343B4F] I dreamed a dream in time gone by When hope was high And life worth living 72 Moons || Exiled Medicine Cat of RainClan || She-Cat "I'll be taking Blackthorn and Heronstrike with me as escort to the medicine cat meeting," Swanfeather explained to Stormstar prior to departing from the camp. While it wasn't ideal and Swanfeather wasn't even sure if StarClan would still talk to her, it was importnat to the she-cat that an effort was made. Ottersplash was still in no condition to leave the nest without someone watching over him. His body was weak from the fever and required someone almost contantly bringing him water to ensure he stayed hydrated.
The chosen cats were waiting for her just outside the camp. A flick of her tail was a signal for them to follow as they headed for Moon Tree.
Trekking toward the moon tree was a silent affair. Swanfeather had nothing to say to either of the cats at her side, they didn't bother to talk either. However, she did catch Heronstrike giving Blackthorn a look, one that might be understood as mistrust of for the black pointed she-cat.
Focusing her attention on the walk instead of the silent-gossip happening around her. The group arrived at the Moon Tree and came to realize they were last. Unsure how the other cats would greet her, Swanfeather headed right for the front of them, feeling their eyes shift as she drew their attention. She intended to clear away the questions in one swoop.
"During the Greencough outbreak Ottersplash had become very ill. Stormstar asked me to help out and I upheld my voew to serve RainClan until my last breath. For the time being I am Medicine Cat of RainClan again. Her words were quick and lacked emotion, clearly meant to be heard and understood. This bout of bravey quickly deminished as Swanfeather flicked her tail and left the front of the group to sit elsewhere, waiting for the meeting to fully start given her last arrival.

Falconstorm37 MOONS, MEDICINE CAT OF TREECLAN He remained as he was, watching as each clan arrived and sighing softly in relief as each medicine cat arrived. Some with apprentices, but no new faces, no missing faces. And then RainClan showed up and his heart sank. Swanfeather, returned to RainClan. Ottersplash was sick. Please no more. He took a deep breath and rose to his paws. "Its good to see you all again. Swanfeather, good to see you filled back out, I worried about you after the last time we met." He offered her, remembering finding her half-starved in the early days of Newleaf. Another steadying breath. "Bluejay has gone to join StarClan."
That was all the news he wanted to share. It was time to go in. But he kept his ears tuned into the chatter of the cats around him, wishing to feel part of this gathering of like minded cats once again, as he had on his first trip to Moon Tree with Bluejay. To remember what it meant that he was among these chosen few, StarClan's voice to the Clans.
He wondered who would complete his shift from Medicine Cat Apprentice to full Medicine cat, since his training was complete and his mentor was gone. Smokefur, perhaps? He thought on the matter some as he went further into Moon Tree, its beauty only just distracting him for a moment before he made himself comfortable and awaited the ceremonies that would be happening tonight.

Smokefur wasn't at all surprised to see less cats showing up than usual, however Swanfeather returning had quite the opposite effect. As Rainclans' former medicine cat gave a quick and dirty explanation of the reasons she was now gracing them with her presence Smokefur felt it didn't justify a reply. Falconstorm spoke next and it seemed the experienced medicine cat wasn't wrong in her prediction that something bad had happened to Bluejay, it was a shame as Smokefur hadn't disliked the now deceased medicine cat as she had with so many others. Following swiftly behind Falconstorm as he entered the cavern Smokefur offered a soft condolence before following him in silence. Smokefur had decided not to introduce Shadowpaw to those who didn't know him and figured his ceremony would do all the explaining necessary. Once the rest of the medicine cats joined them before the moontree Smokefur began "Shadowpaw, is it your wish to enter the mysteries of StarClan as a medicine cat?" He better Smokefur thought waiting for the young toms reply, and upon receiving a favorable one she continued "Then come forward. Warriors of StarClan, I present you with this apprentice. He has chosen the path of a medicine cat. Grant him your wisdom and insight so that he may understand your ways and heal his Clan in accordance with your will."

curiosity is not a sin... ...but we should exercise caution with our curiosity Shadowpaw It was even more beautiful than he'd ever imagined. Shadowpaw breathlessly took in the marvelous sight of the moon tree, seeing it glitter with a cool, ethereal light as if kissed by moonlight. "Wow!" He whispered, awestruck. Realizing with the patter of footsteps behind him that he had stopped in his tracks, Shadowpaw dipped his head in apology for holding up the others - and quickly went to stand beside his mentor. As he did, he caught Sandpaw's eye, hoping the other apprentice could understand his excitement. This is amazing! He tried to press his thoughts upon the StoneClan cat without saying a word. Smokefur caught his attention then, managing the impossible task of pulling his gaze from the moon tree.
Shadowpaw's heart galloped, and he stood still, sensing something was about to happen.
"Shadowpaw, is it your wish to enter the mysteries of StarClan as a medicine cat?"
"Yes," he answered without a shred of doubt. He had waited so long for this moment. The sympathy he felt for the TreeClan medicine cat over the loss of Bluejay (a cat he had personally never met, but heard good things about) was set aside so his excitement could come through. Shadowpaw's tail quivered, a sign of the raw energy filtering through him like an underground river. Darkpaw, Cobrapaw and Thornpaw were amazing fighters; the older cats were already talking about how talented they were.
Shadowpaw raised his head with pride, looking to Smokefur for her approval. Maybe now, the older cats could speak of how well-suited he was to his role. That he was going to be a great medicine cat.
"Then come forward. Warriors of StarClan, I present you with this apprentice. He has chosen the path of a medicine cat. Grant him your wisdom and insight so that he may understand your ways and heal his Clan in accordance with your will."
Holding his breath, Shadowpaw's golden eyes flitted around the sacred cavern as if expecting them to materialize at any second. They did not, but Shadowpaw wasn't disappointed - he couldn't see them, but he could feel them. The soft brush of air against his pelt. A tingling in his whiskers. A sensation of welcome.
Stars, I'm too excited to sleep. How was he supposed to share dreams with StarClan if he couldn't keep his eyes closed for more than a few seconds? The blackish-brown tom was given the chance to catch his breath, to calm the rapid beating of his heart, as Dawnblossom stepped forward for another ceremony of her own. medicine cat apprentice of nightclan @poptart | jk rowling | background image | table by phoenix Fate of Five Staff Silver BlooRey DVD Hellion Justice

Dawnblossom "We all grieve for the loss of Bluejay," mewed the tortoiseshell, tone softened by the seriousness of her statement. "However, it is time to welcome you into our ranks as a fully fledged medicine cat." A solemn (but not unexpected) air filled the cavern, resting on the faces of the gathered healers.
Dawnblossom continued.
"I, Dawnblossom, medicine cat of StoneClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He has trained hard to understand the ways of a medicine cat, and with your help he will serve his Clan for many moons. Falconstorm, do you promise to uphold the ways of a medicine cat, to stand apart from rivalry between Clan and Clan and to protect all cats equally, even at the cost of your life?"
When the answer came, Dawnblossom nodded in quiet acceptance. You trained him well, Bluejay.
"Then by the powers of StarClan I give you your true name as a medicine cat. From this moment you will be known as Falconstorm. StarClan honors your dedication, your resilience, your compassion, and we welcome you as a full medicine cat of TreeClan."
In accordance with the ceremony, Dawnblossom stepped forward to rest her muzzle on the top of the tom's head. Bluejay should have been here to do this herself, but Dawnblossom knew the young healer was here in spirit, if not in physical form.

Ginger ears flattened against her skull as Falconstorm confirmed their worst fears; Bluejay had joined StarClan. Surely TreeClan's healer had been far too young to succumb to death already? S-StarClan.. Must have a p-plan. She reminded herself silently, offering the TreeClan tom what she hoped was a sympathetic look. Smokefur's voice broke through the solemn quiet, beckoning her young apprentice forward. Kindleflare's kind gaze slipped to Shadowpaw, watching him with gentle mirth. H-He is certain of h-his choice. She mused to herself, noting the total lack of hesitation with which he answered his mentor's call. Good.
As he was officially sworn in as Smokefur's apprentice, she offered the young NightClan tom a congratulatory purr, her tail tip gently tapping his shoulder before she put distance between them once more. It dawned on her, then, that Falconstorm had yet to be sworn in as a full-fledged medicine cat; who would perform the ceremony? For a moment, she thought perhaps Smokefur might, but the StoneClan medicine cat stepped forward first. Her gaze now drawn by Dawnblossom's steady voice, the LightningClan healer listened quietly until the ceremony concluded. At this point, a smile spread the length of her muzzle, and she touched her nose softly to Falconstorm's shoulder.
Sh-She is here in s-spirit. She thought to herself, the sentiment reflected in her dark amber gaze. Kindleflare hoped that Falconstorm believed this too, could perhaps even feel her presence. M-Maybe... B-Bluejay will visit h-him tonight. She mused as she settled back. It wouldn't be long now before they took up their spots at the Moon Tree's base. I h-hope she does. |

[smear:ffffff]Swanfeather[/smear:343B4F] I dreamed a dream in time gone by When hope was high And life worth living 72 Moons || Disgraced Medicine Cat of RainClan || She-Cat Swanfeather's ears perked at the news of Bluejay joining StarClan. While the two of them didn't know each other, it was always difficult news. However, Swanfeather had a strong feeling that Falconstorm could handle tending to TreeClan on his own just fine. He had shown her rough kindess plenty of moons ago, something she wouldn't foget.
Smokefur spoke next, alerting Swanfeather that the small cat standing beside her was indeed a new apprentice. So much had changed since her temporary exile. Shadowpaw was the cat's name and it suited him well. Her blue eyes were fixated on the two NightClan cats as the ceremony was done. Memories of her all her past apprentices brought on a shiver of sadness. Perhaps she could find a suitable one again, one that could withstand the trials of life.
Flicking her tail idly she watched the exchanged with interest. While she couldn't find it in herself to wish the NightClan pair good luck, she did nod in approval.
Realizing that it was Dawnblossom that was going to conduct the ceremony for Faloncstorm, Swanfeather remained where she sat. It occurred to her that she was perhaps the oldest cat in attendance, besides Smokefur. So much had changed.
Once the ceremonies were over, Swanfeather made her way to find herself a place to sleep. StarClan had been silent for many moons and she doubted this sleep would be any different. All she wanted was to see Frostfang one more time but she wouldn't get her hopes up too high.

Falconstorm Medicine Cat 37 Moons TreeClan It was time. He shifted on his paws and drew himself up, staring fixatedly at Dawnblossom as she spoke the words that would officially make him a full Medicine Cat. "I do." And with some closing words from the she-cat his ceremony was complete. He only halfway listened to the others, he was ready to dream. Maybe he'd see Bluejay, or maybe someone else. Perhaps even the strange medicine cat of StarClan would poke him. He doubted it, but it was a thought. Would they know of his continued visits to StoneClan's border? Of Herondive? Would they know how very much he adored that she-cat despite them being of different clans and he a medicine cat?
He pushed his troubled thoughts to the side and looked up at the splendor that was Moon Tree. A deep breath let him calm himself and focus on what he needed to do. A choice of places to rest and a dream to have. And he chose to butt his head gently against Kindleflare, who had also lost her mentor to death. Though Rookfrost had been much older than Bluejay, the symbolism of the two of them losing a mentor was the same. He actually drew comfort from the she-cat. If such a gentle spirit as Kindleflare's could manage her clan alone, then so could he. Bluejay had trained him well, and even in the midst of true chaos that had been the greencough epidemic, he had prevailed and remained standing.
"Sweet dreams everyone." He didn't know if that was something one typically said, but it felt right and there was a warmth inside him that said it was a good sentiment at least.
He found a place and made himself comfortable, ready for a dream. And dream he did.
--
Snow. Deep, peaceful snow. The world was awash in snow and ice, everything cast with a silver glow. The changes in the Clans hadn't been completed yet, more was to come. Good times and bad times lie in wait, but he could prevail through them.
He saw his mother, a she-cat he had never met but knew on sight from the luminesent smile she gave him and eyes that were a reflection of his own. "I'm proud of you Falconstorm." For whatever reason, that made him happy to hear. It eased the burden of grief that would haunt him for awhile yet, and made him realize that he was still far stronger than he thought himself to be.
"Remain true to yourself, and all will be well."
--
The snow turned to frost then faded slowly as the dream ended and he drifted between the realm of dream and awareness. What would the others see, he wondered? He wasn't about to ask them, it wasn't something one did as the dreams were personal, but he wondered and wished them all, as he'd said, a sweet dream.

After finishing Shadowpaws' ceremony, which he was thankfully enthusiastic throughout, Smokefur respectfully provided her attention to Dawnblossom and Falconstorm. As the latter received the ceremony that denoted him as a full fledged medicine cat Smokefur couldn't help but be thankful that Treeclan hadn't been left without a trained replacement for Bluejay. Having succumbed at such a young age was unusual and could have easily have been disastrous, even so the experienced medicine cat was sure Falconstorm had a rough few moons ahead of him. In truth Smokefur had put Nightclan in quite the precarious situation herself, however with Shadowpaw she just needed to last a bit longer. Barring some sort of freak accident she was positive she could finish his training and them some. With all the formalities out of the way Smokefur scooted her apprentice towards the Moontree and carefully climbed into its clutches before closing her eyes and praying for Starclan to leave her alone. Smokefur had brought Shadowpaw, what else could they possibly want?
