i'm headed straight for the castle THEY WANNA MAKE ME THEIR QUEEN Lynxpaw, its time for the dawn patrol," Firestar's words were soft as she found her way into the apprentice den. Having made four new warriors just a few days ago the apprentice den was feeling emptier then ever. Twitching her short tail back and forth, Firestar waited until she saw movement before heading toward the middle of camp.
Cherrypool, Tallstrike, and Ravensky were joining them on the dawn patrol to the open woods border. Firestar considered bringing Desertpaw with them but knew it was easier to take just a single apprentice. Less risk that way. As they waited for Lynxpaw to join them, Firestar urged them to eat so they wouldn't be tempted to eat or be grumpy because they were hungry. Her attention drifted from cat to cat before settling on Cherrypool. Firestar knew that the she-cat was expecting and the calico leader of LightingClan wasn't excited to bring her along. The kit or kits growing within the she-cat were vital to LightingClan's survival and their mother going on a patrol would put them at risk. However, Firestar didn't want to confront the she-cat just yet otherwise she'd be a hypocrite.
Firestar could remember her own pregnancy, she too carried on her duties up until the medicine cat at the time insisted she move to the nursery. It took the combined efforts of their leader and Russetfall to encourage Firestar to rest. Luckily her kits were born a few days later and both were happy and healthy.
Firestar trusted her warriors and trusted Cherrypool to know what would be best for her budding family. Flicking her attention away from the white she-cat, Firestar turned to see if Lynxpaw had fully woken up and ready to join them.

Lynxpaw As night has taken what is left of day and everything is like it’s made of clay "Lynxpaw, its time for the dawn patrol," Lynxpaw found himself awakened to the sound of his mentor, the leader of Lightningclan, calling to him from the entrance of the apprentice den. He was still getting adjusted to the life as Firestar's Mentee, sorely reflecting and missing the days that he and Desertkit would waste away the daylight in the nursery.
Dawn Patrol. The apprentice let out a small sigh, lifting himself onto his hind legs, trying to shake off the fatigue, with little success; Instead he settled on a semi-catatonic state and headed into the new light of morning, his paws moving without much input from his mind. He noticed Firestar directing the other cats to the freshkill pile, and instantly his senses began to come to life at the thought of a quick meal. Lynxpaw quickly rushed towards the pile, managing only a couple bites before scurrying off to find Firestar, cautious of what his mentor might think if he took too long to meet with her and the dawn patrol.
His stomach growled with a gnawing hunger, demanding more food, but Lynxpaw only suppressed the hunger gnawing at his insides, making note to eat only after the patrol had been done with. The apprentice wondered what they might run into on patrol, a nervous excitement settling in over his body, which was in an awkward state of change.
He found Firestar in the center of the camp alongside Cherrypool, Tallstrike and Ravensky and instantly found the hunger in his stomach being replaced with an intense pang of awe. He nodded slowly to each of the warriors, his mind retracing over each one intently, taking in every singular detail that might become relevant in the future, near and far.
He smiled slightly as he noticed Firestar turn to see if he had awoken, doing his best to mask the fatigue on his face, "I'm- I'm here Firestar." he mewed calmly, despite the intense turmoil of nerves building up in his chest, "I'm ready for the Dawn Patrol."

Cherrypool 83 Moons LightningClan Senior Warrior Welcome to my dark side, Eight sunrises ago, Kindleflare had confirmed what Cherrypool had most-feared. At the same time, Sunblaze, the father of her unborn litter, had fallen deathly ill. Confined to the medicine cat's den, and kept away from her at all costs, Cherrypool had not found a way to tell him of his impending fatherhood.
In fact, she had avoided him entirely. Struggling to process the truth, for Cherrypool - who had always been a taker of lives, never a giver - this was like being plunged into a world without color. It was not altogether unpleasant, but it took getting used to. Just as her body was adjusting to this unexpected stage of her life, so too was her mind.
She would never call herself a queen. That was for other cats, a rank that would never truly belong to her. Cherrypool was certain she would not enjoy the confinement to the nursery, and, StarClan forbid, she was terrified to meet the offspring growing inside her belly. There was a very real likelihood that they would be born with eyes as red as hers, and hearts as cold and unfeeling as Whiteshade's.
Could she bring more lives into the world, if that was what they would become? They could inherit the best of Sunblaze, whose good qualities had been many, but so too could they inherit the worst of her. And did she have so many questionable traits... So many undesirable aspects of herself.
It had been five sunrises since Sunblaze had died. Cherrypool was moody and withdrawn, and given an even wider berth than what was strictly normal. The albino warrioress preferred it; with only herself to confide in, Cherrypool hid her pain from the Clan. And especially from Whiteshade. Her brother did not need to know of any more weaknesses he could exploit, and least of all, about her litter.
If they were to have any chance of... normalcy... Then they had to grow up with as little nefarious influence from her brother as she could ensure. Only time would tell if killers were 'born', or if they were made. She prayed to ancestors who hadn't once acknowledged her in 83 moons, for the latter to be true.
At Firestar's beckoning, Cherrypool had risen with the dawn, her crimson eyes narrowed against the onslaught of sunlight as she left the warriors' den. An understanding silence passed between the two she-cats; one, a future mother, and the other, a mother of two.
Kindleflare had told Firestar, and Cherrypool had tersely requested the information remain a secret. Her pregnancy was no one's business but her own; Firestar, so far, had respected her need for privacy.
With barely even a glance spared to Ravensky, Tallstrike, and the apprentice Firestar had recently taken on, the white-furred warrioress waited for the signal to depart. It's gonna be a long night 463 Words x Hellion @minxxy x Notes (Phoenix for Whiteshade mentions!)

i'm headed straight for the castle THEY WANNA MAKE ME THEIR QUEEN Lynxpaw's arrival to the group had Ravensky offering a pleasent greeting and Tallstrike nodding. Firestar offered him a welcoming smile. It had been many moons since she herself had been an apprentice, but she could remember her first patrol fondly. A since of excitment was found woven into the memory. Giving a glance toward Cherrypool, Firestar offered her no words but a simply nod. Firestar didn't want to imagine a world were she had lost Russetfall. It was too painful to think of.
"Alright everyone, we will be going to the TreeClan border. Stay alert and stay close. The border itself has been decently quiet but we can't take that for granted. Lynxpaw I want you walking alongside a warrior at all times. This is your first patrol and I want to keep you safe," She explained in great detail their plan and what she wanted to be done. Normally apprentices on patrols were given a little more freedom but with Echopaw's death, it was difficult for Firestar to let that go. Lyxnpaw was in her care now and she was determined to see him into warriorhood without too many wounds.
Flicking her shorter tail as a signal to move out, Firestar lead the group toward the border. With the sun just crawling up into the sky, the air was still cool and refreshing. Not yet hot like most Greenleaf days. Keeping the pace at a brisk walk, Firestar looked back every so often to ensure the group was staying together. While she wouldn't ask the she-cat directly, Firestar couldn't help but also have concern for Cherrypool. It donned on the calico leader that leadership of LightingClan meant always being worried about her clanmates. She knew she could do it, but that didn't stop it from being exhausting.
Pausing just for a moment she waited for everyone to gather before looking toward Lynxpaw. "That is the border. We will scent along the few fallen logs and bushes. Ravensky and Tallstrike will go north for ten fox lengths and Cherrypool you and I will go for 10 fox lengths south." Firestar explained as she looked to the other two toms to follow her order, before waiting for Cherrypool and Lynxpaw to make a move to follow her. Lynxpaw As night has taken what is left of day and everything is like it’s made of clay The apprentice clawed at the ground nervously, ushering a meek smile towards each cat as they greeted him. Lynxpaw couldn't help but find his gaze caught as he looked over Cherrypool, an ebbing curiosity washing over him with a string of questions for the strange looking warrior. The tom felt his voice rush to the surface, but held in back, almost afraid to question the albino she-cat; Lynxpaw turned his attention back onto Firestar instead, eager to begin his patrol.
"Alright everyone, we will be going to the TreeClan border. Stay alert and stay close. The border itself has been decently quiet but we can't take that for granted. Lynxpaw I want you walking alongside a warrior at all times. This is your first patrol and I want to keep you safe," Lynxpaw found himself glued to Firestar's expression as she spoke, absorbing each and every word, earnestly nodding his agreement as if in an attempt to convince his mentor that he would absolutely never let her down. Unlike his brother the apprentice had zero hankering to get down to any funny business, hoping to become a fine warrior without any hiccups, preferably his training would pass with an air of almost desolate calmness; That would indeed be ideal.
Lynxpaw watched as Firestar signaled for the party to move out, squaring himself alongside Cherrypool as they headed out towards the Treeclan border. As the walked at a quick pace, Lynxpaw couldn't help but cast the occasional glance towards the warrior, admiring her coat, white like Leaf-bare snow. He felt the questions coming up once more as he looked at Cherrypool managing to suppress all of them, but one: "Do you find it easier to hunt in the cold? Because I bet you camouflage unlike anyone else in Lightningclan."
The apprentice found himself cursing in his mind, contemplating the best way to escape the situation he had entered upon, deciding eventually on turning his attention briefly towards his paws, until they arrived at their destination.
Lynxpaw's ears pricked up as Firestar spoke, eagerly setting after her, his nose high in the air, giving the air a smell. An overpowering smell of unfamiliar cats filled his nostrils, and Lynxpaw couldn't help but wrinkle his nose and letting out a small mew, "Yuck! What a smell!"

Cherrypool 83 Moons LightningClan Senior Warrior Welcome to my dark side, A fly interrupted Cherrypool's thoughts. Her ear twitched, and she looked to the source of the mindless buzzing - only to see a kitten staring at her, who then abruptly looked at his paws. Cherrypool, who had missed the question entirely, did not deign to comment on the little creature's comment. Her grief and her hormones were a potent, deadly mixture on a less volatile, unstable cat.
Cherrypool stared at him, letting herself simply stop feeling, as he took off to answer Firestar's beckons. She watched the way he moved, finding the size of him comparable to a rabbit. With a low exhale, Cherrypool forced her mind from that dark place, and quickly made sense of Firestar's words. She was 83 moons, and she had not lived in this Clan as long as she had without being able to follow orders.
To keep her head down, even if her conscience would never be clear.
The albino warrioress stalked forward, ruby eyes narrowed against the daylight, and brushed her pelt and the edge of her jaw against the old scent markings, renewing them. It brought her some small satisfaction to think TreeClan would recognize her scent, and feel a tingle of fear.
But that satisfaction was short lived. Cherrypool glanced at the apprentice. Every new generation born, is a generation that will grow up to gawk at me, and ask questions, like I'm a monster. Cherrypool hated it now as much as she'd hated it 80 moons ago, when she'd been a kitten old enough to understand what the staring meant. However... What if this litter in her belly, suffered from the same affliction? Suffered the same red eyes, white fur, and the treatment that went with it?
Could she tolerate her offspring being gawked at, and ridiculed?
No. Said a murderous little voice, and Cherrypool was surprised to find it wasn't that dark part of herself that she argued with daily - but all of herself. It's gonna be a long night 320 Words x Hellion @minxxy x Notes: xD Sorry, she's moody

i'm headed straight for the castle THEY WANNA MAKE ME THEIR QUEEN Firestar took the lead and went the direction decided earlier. Her strides were even and remained at a decent pace. Every few tail-lengths, the calico she-cat marked the border. She kept her ears perked for any danger but gradually began to relax. The border seemed to be sleepy.
Hearing Lynxpaw's question toward the albino she-cat, Firestar couldn't help but let her ears twitch back in second-hand embarrassment for the tom. LightingClan's leader had a good feeling that Cherrypool didn't want anyone mentioning her pelt. While Firestar didn't allow violence between clan-mates she wouldn't feel too bad if Cherrypaw swatted at the tom to get him to stop talking.
As Lynxpaw display his dislike of the smell, Firestar nodded. "It's important you learn to recognize the overall scent. Perhaps if you make friends in TreeClan you will know them by smell, but I wouldn't advise it. Friends in other Clans will only bring you hurt in the future." Firestar meowed at him, her eyes conveying a look of maternal concern.
"Who are the important cats of TreeClan? Can you name their high ranks?" Her question was spoken as they kept walking. While Firestar did expect her apprentice to know the names of various high ranks in the valley. She felt it was important. Know thy enemy so to speak.
After some time of marking with the scent of LightingClan, Firestar nodded her head. "We can walk back to the others," FIRESTAR background image | castle | table by phoenix@minxxy Fawnsorry its weak!
