LIONSTAR leader of treeclan Blinded by the light of a new sun The world was slowly starting to right itself. TreeClan's numbers had suffered greatly under the cruel, venomous fangs of greencough, but life, as always, carried on. Lionstar greeted the senior warriors and apprentices alike; a wan smile and a nod for the older cats (though none were more senior than him, he now realized with a slight scowl), and a fuller smile for the younger ones. Though in the case of Thornpaw and Finchpaw, he kept a slight narrowness to his eyes, indicating that he was keeping tabs on those two for all the potential trouble they could start.
Happy kit-squeals and the drum-beats of tiny paws on den floors mixed in with the morning's birdsong. Lionstar peered in, first identifying the proud mother - and then each individual kit. Lionstar went over the names in his mind as he found them in his sights; Spottedkit, Specklekit, Leafkit, Molekit, and... There he was. The small tom had recovered from greencough (thank StarClan; it was always heart-breaking to lose a kit so young, or any kit for that matter), thanks to the efforts of Falconstorm and Bluejay.
Lionstar smiled, aware that Cedarkit wasn't joining in with the others. "Not interested in playing, Cedarkit?" Perhaps he was like Ravenpaw had been - bored of the nursery. His intelligence surpassing his age, and he was stuck wallowing in the den until the moons caught up with him.
Simply by being here, Lionstar caught the attentions of the four other kits. There were more excited squeals, and suddenly he was being pounced on. Lionstar laughed, feeling tiny claws try to sink in through his mane as they climbed over him.
"Ahh! It's Demon! Everybody get him!"
Lionstar did his best 'lynx growl', letting go of his hesitance to compare himself to that monster at all. It was only a game; his golden eyes wandered back to Cedarkit, however. Going to join in? Take it to the world, gonna sing it like an anthem

Cedarkit looked up at the towering figure of Lionstar with a sense of awe. Seeing his siblings pouncing the large tom, Cedarkit mentally chastised them all for their lack of respect. Yes, it was a game, but still, this was their Clan Leader they were clambering all over. Sedately, his long legs carrying him easily over the short distance between them, Cedarkit nodded in a gesture of deep respect to his leader. "Good morning, Lionstar." He was trying desperately to act calm, cool, collected, but he couldn't help a sliver of excitement at just who he was talking to escape his body, which came out as a flick of his tail. There was also a hint of... nervousness? Yes, nervousness in his body as he leaned down in front of the much taller cat, wiggling his haunches, keeping his weight even before he leapt, using his long legs to jump higher than anyone expected him to, landing squarely on the leader's back and using his paws (which he kept sheathed - injuring his Clan Leader?! his mother would never forgive him) to maintain his balance atop the regal cat's back. He placed his much smaller head atop Lionstar's, purring loudly. "I feel so tall right now!"[[Words: 211| Muse: Great!|Tags: Fawn]]

LIONSTAR leader of treeclan Blinded by the light of a new sun Lionstar was by no means a small tom. Though hardly as dense of bone and long of leg as cats like Zephyrfang, he cast an imposing figure to creatures of all ages. So it was with a small note of surprise that Lionstar watched Cedarkit leap onto his back - the strength of his legs an unexpected boon considering how ill he'd been.
The golden tom purred. Good, he's recovered well. Lionstar felt kitten teeth sink in through the thick fur of his tail, finding the actual limb underneath. He swept it out of Molekit's grasp, using it to sweep Spottedkit and Specklekit back towards their mother in a tumble of fur and whiskers. His actions were nothing but gentle, and it warmed his heart to hear their cries of laughter. Molekit was by far the most rambunctious, and the kitten threw himself into Lionstar's shoulder with a fierce battle-cry.
"For TreeClan!"
Lionstar grinned, and pinned Molekit down with one over-sized paw - something from kithood that he'd never grown out of. "I can tell you're going to be a fierce warrior, Molekit! And you might be a natural at tree-climbing Cedarkit." Lionstar mewed to the kitten on his back. "Are you excited to become apprentices?" It was a good thing Dunefang and Duskrose had recently been made warriors, and Nightfury...
Five more apprentices in a den that was already eight cats full would be pushing the camp's capacity a bit. Yet Lionstar knew he could not delay them. If space truly became an issue, Cedarkit and his siblings could become apprentices, but sleep in the nursery to avoid overcrowding. They wouldn't enjoy it, but Lionstar couldn't please everyone. Take it to the world, gonna sing it like an anthem

”For TreeClan!”Molekit’s battle-cry spurred Cedarkit into action. From his useful perch atop the mighty tom-cat’s back, he nipped Lionstar’s ear. ”This is what happens, Demon” he spat the word – ”to those who trespass on our territory.” With a purr of amusement and a happy giggle, Cedarkit took the opportunity, while Molekit was distracted by head-butting the leader, to leap off Lionstar’s back, nimbly landing on the ground. Turning, he began stalking around Lionstar, keeping his eyes on him at all times, his legs making him seem clumsy and un-coordinated. Oh well… I may not be the best at hunting yet, but my mentor will soon see to that. I wonder who it will be…He shared a look with his siblings, which, for once, they all seemed to understand. As one, they co-ordinated their attack, leaping again at the leader in a synchronized manner, all landing on him at the same time, their combined weights pushing him down to the ground. Laughing and congratulating themselves on their achievement, they covered the leader in licks, grooming him and making his pelt sleek. Yes, reflected Cedarkit, today is a good day. I feel fine again. I feel… I feel like ME again.Cedarkit never wanted to go back to the feelings of the terrible thing that Bluejay and Falconstorm called ‘Greencough’. All he remembered was pain. Coughing and pain. LIONSTAR leader of treeclan Blinded by the light of a new sun Lionstar was 'defeated' by a small battle patrol of kits, Molekit enthusiastically trying to headbutt him right on the nose - which he carefully dodged (kitten heads were hard). Lionstar laughed, and that laugh turned into a purr of contentment as the kits began to groom him, certainly out of gratitude for the impromptu game - or apology for mauling their Clan leader.
He did not mind, in either case. It was good to enjoy a simple game, remind himself that not every decision he made or action he took had to be stressful or political (or sometimes both).
"Can you tell us a story, Lionstar?" asked Leafkit, kneading his fur eagerly.
"Yeah! Give us a battle story! One about defeating NightClan!"
The golden tom was just as susceptible to wide, warm kitten eyes as the next cat who claimed to have a heart; otherwise, he might have excused himself, apologetic to let the kits down, but aware that he had duties to fulfill.
"One story," he relented, straightening up where he lay so they could see him more clearly. The kits gathered close, and Lionstar suppressed another laugh at the clear size difference; they're ready to be apprentices... I'm too used to Finchpaw and Thornpaw. The two sons of Silentsong and Zephyrfang were very large, and without meaning to, Lionstar had allowed his own apprentice in particular (Thornpaw) to set the new standard for what looked 'normal' to him.
"One story, and then I must return to my duties. What would you like to hear?" Lionstar mewed, giving them the chance to voice other subjects besides a battle with NightClan (though Molekit would undoubtedly insist). Take it to the world, gonna sing it like an anthem

Cedarkit was ecstatic. The Clan Leader was happy to tell them a story! If left purely up to Molekit, the golden tabby tom would undoubtedly end up telling a story about a battle with NightClan, but Cedarkit had other ideas. Gently biffing his brother on the head, he asked the question that had been making him curious since he had first heard the tales from his mother when he was only a very young kit. "Lionstar, will you tell us about what TreeClan used to be? Before we became TreeClan?"Yes, it was a story that he had heard before, when he was very young, but he was incredibly excited to hear Lionstar's spin on it, it was sure to be enlightening and interesting to listen to. He added in a stage whisper to Lionstar "Maybe add in a battle or two, to keep Molekit happy?"His youngest sister, Leafkit, though still older than him (he was the youngest, the runt...) snuggled up close to him. The two of them had always been significantly closer than the other kits were. She was so small, so pretty, so sure of herself. She always looked after Cedarkit (though gave him the impression that it was him looking after her) Patiently - or as patiently as 5 kits can manage when a story is involved - they waited for the mighty leader to make his decision. LIONSTAR leader of treeclan Blinded by the light of a new sun "Lionstar, will you tell us about what TreeClan used to be? Before we became TreeClan?"
A golden gaze rested on Cedarkit, meeting the kitten's inquisitive stare - humor showing in the slight twitch of his muzzle at Cedarkit's not-so-quiet whisper. "You want to hear about ThunderClan, then?" It was a subject that hardly came up in the current time; TreeClan hadn't forgotten their roots, but they kept their eyes on the new growth, on the budding tales and legends that were arising in their own era, not from the past.
Lionstar was quiet for the span of a few wingbeats, keeping his audience captive with a knowing little smile - as if he had a plethora of untold stories justs waiting to be heard - while he searched his memory for any good ones. He hadn't been a very attentive apprentice, when it came to elders' tales. As a kit, he'd absorbed some of the basics -- Firestar, Tigerclaw, the battle at a place called Sunningrocks - but did he know enough to actually share a few stories?
Rather than fumble his way through stories that weren't even his to tell, from forgotten days, Lionstar decided to stick with a few hard truths the elders always repeated. "Before the Clans came to live in the valley, TreeClan was called ThunderClan, and they lived in a much different place. ThunderClan was one of the strongest Clans in the old forest, with many powerful leaders, such as Sunstar, Bluestar, and a cat whose name I'm sure you've all heard before, Firestar."
He had never met TreeClan's famous ancestor, but that did not mean he couldn't appreciate the legendary figure's capabilities as warrior, deputy, and finally leader. Lionstar purred, casting his authoritative gaze (made softened by their presence) onto each kit in turn. "Do you know why he was called Firestar?" Take it to the world, gonna sing it like an anthem
