Kestrelkit 3 Moons - Tom - StoneClan We're back! And we have the nursery all to ourselves! Kestrelkit had joyously sent the moss bedding scattering throughout the nice cool den; Mistcloud's and Smokestorm's thoughtfulness gone unnoticed. How was he supposesd to know they'd changed the bedding for their return? Kestrelkit couldn't think beyond his own happy relief at finally seeing camp again.
He didn't like the moss meadow very much. Not enough rocks. Too much moss. Too much... coughing and... and sickness. Kestrelkit kneaded their new bedding, his light amber eyes following Duskflower's calm (albeit slow) progression into the nursery with Meadowkit. Sandpaw and aunt Dawnblossom had given them permission to go home that morning.
Kestrelkit had gotten scolded at least three times by his father, on the walk back. He'd tried to run off ahead, boldly leading the way back to camp - except he didn't know it. Kits weren't supposed to know it. Eagletalon's firm reminder that they weren't apprentices yet had made him scowl - he wanted to be one NOW - but he'd forgotten his worries as soon as the familiar scents of home washed over them.
"Mom! Can I get you some prey?" Kestrelkit bounced from his bedding, landing near his sister a little clumsily - but he quickly righted himself. Duskflower smiled at his enthusiasm, and he gave Meadowkit an affectionate (and gentle) headbutt to her shoulder before he trotted away to the fresh kill pile. It was intimidating, going there by himself; some of the things on the fresh kill pile were bigger than he was!
Kestrelkit made eye contact with a big black bird, it's shiny lifeless eye staring right at him. His tail fluffed out in surprise, and he skittered awkwardly to the left, trying to get out of its line of sight. It looks big enough to take away Meadowkit! With that in mind, Kestrelkit pulled a small songbird from the pile and returned to the nursery.
"Hey Meadowkit, there's this big bird on the fresh kill pile," he reported dutifully to his sister. "It's huge! Wanna go see it?"

Meadowkit 3 Moons - She-Kit - StoneClanThe young calico female was feeling much better than she had been the last few days, at first she had been tired and weak and had a small but persistent cough, however now all that had gone and she was left the happy adventurous kitten she had always been. Kestrelkit seemed very excited to be going home, Eagletalon had told her in secret that her brother had missed her a lot while she was sick, her sibling raced ahead the whole way home, despite their father's firm reminders that he needed to stay with Meadowkit and their parents.
Meadowkit was smiling in excitement, racing around her father's legs as they entered the nursery and she joined her brother in excitedly jumping up and down. "Mama, Daddy, we're home" she announced proudly but before she could follow, Kestrelkit was out the nursery entrance and heading towards the fresh kill pile and the younger she-cat rolled her pale green eyes at her brother's retreating form.
Though soon he returned to announce he had found a huge bird on the fresh kill pile and her entire body perked up with interest. "Oh yes please, lead the way" she giggled, delighted to be playing with her brother again.
"If it scares you, it might be a good thing to try."
She is gonna be like " the heck is this thing" to the bird <3 Sibling bonding

Kestrelkit 3 Moons - Tom - StoneClan Kestrelkit waited long enough to see that she was following him before exiting the nursery again. He felt braver now that it was his second time seeing the crow, even though the eyes still... creeped him out. Kestrelkit put on a brave grin, and pushed some of the smaller prey away from the bird so Meadowkit could properly see. "Isn't it huge? It looks big enough to carry you away, Meadowkit!"
He'd heard all about enormous birds with wings longer than a fox's tail and talons thicker than Hawkstar's, swooping down and carrying Clanmates away into the mountains. Kestrelkit hadn't believed the elders' stories - weren't they just saying that to scare him? - but looking at the crow now...
A shadow flitted overhead and Kestrelkit jumped, the fur along his back raised before indignation took over. I'm not scared. I'm almost an apprentice! I'm Eagletalon's son. His father wasn't scared by birds or moving shadows. Kestrelkit's tawny ears swiveled to pick up the sound of chuckling warriors; he flushed under his pelt. Oh no! They must've thought he was as brave as a mouse.
Trying to repair his image, Kestrelkit marched up to the fresh kill pile, and climbed it. He grinned down at his sister, balancing on his hind legs to make his front paws stretch out, claws curled. Kestrelkit's shadow fell over the calico kitten, and Kestrelkit called to her. "Better get out of the way! I'm gonna get you!"
Kestrelkit half-pounced, half fell forward as his momentum drove him towards her. His grin flickered with uncertainty as he wasn't so confident of his landing skills. Uh-oh! Laugh at yourself first, before anyone else can. 267 Words || @kahani || Notes

Meadowkit 3 Moons - She-Kit - StoneClan "What is it?" Were the first words to leave the young kitten's mouth as her brother, semi boldly led her to the fresh kill pile and pushed away smaller prey to reveal a huge shiny black bird with lifeless glassy eyes that seemed to stare straight at her. The largeness of this unknown creature compared to both her and Kestrelkit had the female move in close to her sibling for safety. She let out a surprised mew when her brother near lept out of his fur as a shadow passed overhead and immediately the young cat was death glaring the warrior that were clearly amused by her brother's breif scare.
Meadowkit watched with bright eyes as Kestrelkit climbed the fresh kill pile, creating a kit sized shadow that covered her up almost entirely, Meadowkit was a bit smaller than her sibling, the more dainty of the two kits. As the tawny kit attempted to catch her Meadowkit let out a giggle and while her sibling tumbled down the fresh kill pile, rather ungracefully in her opinion she moved out of the way of his perceived landing spot, not keen on being smushed in favour of the young tom's ego.
" Come on Kestrelkit, Uncle Hawkstar may be in his den" the young female squealed in delight to her sibling as she dashed off towards the leader's den, calling for"uncle Hawkstar loudly, despite her father's warnings not to bother the leader while the epidemic still had a firm grip on the clan.
Meadowkit did not particularly care for that rule, Uncle Hawkstar was great for stories and his fur was soft and perfect for bouncing around on, at least in Meadowkit's opinion. The spirited kit had not led her recent battle with greencough get her down for long, she was gonna play with her siblings without fear everyday if she could manage to convince her precious father to let the pair out of his sight.
"If it scares you, it might be a good thing to try." Ever the spirited she cat

Kestrelkit 3 Moons - Tom - StoneClan Kestrelkit landed roughly upon the stony soil with a loud ooph! He sat back on his haunches to pick a pebble out from between his front right paw's pads, spitting it aside just as Meadowkit took off. "Hey wait for me!" We just got back home and she's already running off again!
Kestrelkit didn't know whether to be pleased by that or annoyed. She was back to her old self at least, and he'd always be happy about that. Both his parents were back to their old selves, as a matter of fact. Following Meadowkit into Hawkstar's den, Kestrelkit darted past her with a soft grin, and landed noisily in the middle of the moss-and-feather nest. "WOW it's so soft!"
The tawny kitten picked up a few tufts of moss, sticking his claws into it with tactile curiosity. He squirmed, getting a good feel for the Clan leader's bed. "I'm gonna be Kestrelstar some day. I want a bed this soft. Do you want to be my deputy, Meadowkit? You can be..."
Kestrelkit nestled deeper into the cushy nest, trying to think of a good name for his sister. "Meadowflight! Because you're so fast." Kestrelkit looked at the calico kitten, hoping she liked the name. He thought it was pretty good. Laugh at yourself first, before anyone else can. 210 Words || @kahani , BlooRey DVD || Notes

Meadowkit 3 Moons - She-Kit - StoneClan The young female laughed as her brother called out for her to wait before he sped past her into Uncle Hawkstar's den and then much to her amazement onto the leader's nest, announcing that it was very soft and that one day he would be Kestrelstar and have a bed just like it.
Tilting her head the female kitten stepped into the nest with delicate paws, trying to smooth down the ruffled feathers at the bottom that her brother had messed up in his excitement. Kestrelkit then spoke again, this time asking her if she wanted to be his deputy with the name Meadowflight and she smiled at her sibling.
" Yes Kestrelkit, Ill be Meadowflight, the best deputy ever" she announced proudly, puffing her chest out before she jumped at her sibling, landing just beside him before she lay down and snuggled into her tawny coloured brother.
" I missed you, you know that? while we were in the Meadow. I actually missed you annoying me every second" she admitted softly, trying to pass it off with a little teasing at the end, but the true meaning behind her words.... she loved Kestrelkit and wanted to be around him. They were actually very close for brother and sister, sure they annoyed each other but the illness had made Meadowkit appreciate her brother just that little bit more.

Hawkstar may your dreams be larger than mountains Large, sand colored paws stepped into the StoneClan camp as Hawkstar returned from a hunt. In his jaws was a singular mouse, dangling by its tail, though the small catch was deceiving. Hawkstar had just come from visiting Dawnblossom and Sandpaw to check on Wolfclaw's status. Since Duskflower had returned to camp this morning, Wolfclaw was the only patient remaining in the care of StoneClan's medicine cats. His case was severe, the large gray tom having not moved from his nest for several days. Worry pricked in the back of Hawkstar's mind, though there was relief there too.
If Wolfclaw was the final patient, it meant that they'd managed to contain the sickness, and the medicine cats had succeeded in healing many of their Clanmates. Not everyone had survived; Talonfoot, Windsong and Softkit had been lost to the vicious decease. StoneClan still mourned their fallen Clanmates, and Hawkstar's heart panged heavily for Softkit, who's life had been stolen from this world far too young. But they were moving forward, and Hawkstar had visited the two medicine cats responsible for returning so many of their ranks back healthy. He often took it upon himself to ensure the busy medicine cats were eating enough.
This is where the thrush and a second mouse he'd caught had gone. Unbeknownst to Hawkstar, the broad-shouldered tom had just missed two small, fluffy shapes darting through the camp and straight into the den he shared with his mate. Depositing his prey on the pile, Hawkstar looked a little confused at the state of disarray in which it lay. Picking up some of the scattered pieces, the StoneClan figurehead identified two familiar scent trails, who's presences at the fresh-kill pile were certainly something to worry about. Picking up a slow jog, Hawkstar quickly traced their scents to his den.
Ears pricking just in time to hear young Kestrelkit proudly announce he'd be leader one day, Hawkstar couldn't help but laugh under his breath. With a quick glance toward the nursery to check for any particularly worried parents (he could understand that Duskflower and Eagletalon might want some time to themselves), the big tom ducked inside. His pale amber gaze sparkled with mirth even in the dim lighting. "Looking to get rid of me already, Kestrelstar?" He rumbled questioningly, tail swishing behind him as he glanced between the two kits comfortably nestled in his bed.
"First my nest, then my Clan, what will you go after next, hm?" He teased, large paws carrying him to the nest. Careful to avoid any excitable kits with every step, the big sandy tabby guided the two of them with his nose just enough so that he might settle down in the nest himself. "And you, Meadowflight, I suppose I ought to tell Wolfclaw he has been replaced in his absence, hm?" He purred, large frame easily circling the two kits lying in his nest. As he awaited the kits' responses, Hawkstar couldn't help but miss a time when his own kits had been so small and full of wonder. leader of stoneclan and may you have the courage to scale their summits background image | harley king | Fawn @kahani | table by phoenix

Kestrelkit 3 Moons - Tom - StoneClan Kestrelkit's heart swelled with pride - even if she had called him annoying. He didn't know how to put into words how scared he'd felt in the meadow, watching Meadowkit and Duskflower getting worse and worse. He'd gone to bed each night, snuggled against them both, hoping they would just get better.
And they had, just like Sandpaw had promised.
The tawny kitten reached over and gave Meadowkit's shoulder an affectionate head-butt - a gesture between siblings that conveyed more than he could put into actual words. Before Kestrelkit could plan his next move as Kestrelstar, leader of StoneClan, a rumbling shadow - large as a mudslide, but kind and friendly - appeared at the den's entrance.
Kestrelkit's eyes brightened, and he rose to his paws, greeting Hawkstar with a kitten's mew. "Uncle Hawkstar! We were protecting your nest from RainClan!" He'd heard all about that stupid Clan of vulturehearts when he'd visited the elder's den with Smokestorm and Meadowkit. It filled him with pride to think he'd be a great warrior of StoneClan some day, and that he could protect the Clan for real. Not just play.
While Hawkstar got settled in, Kestrelkit eagerly climbed onto the sandy warrior's back. It was the best place to take a nap, and he liked being up high. Playfully crouched between the Clan leader's shoulders, he purred, tail flicking happily. "Can we be apprentices now, Uncle Hawkstar? Meadowkit's a lot better." He glanced down the warm furry mountainside of Hawkstar's flank, looking to see his sister agree. Meadowkit 3 Moons - She-Kit - StoneClanThe calico kitten purred affectionately as Kestrelkit, instead of teasing her about being so soft hearted, head butted her gently, a gesture that conveyed more between the siblings than words could express and content that her brother was about to plan his reign as Kestrelstar, a familiar deep voice reached her ears as the owner of the nest the duo were snuggled in arrived back in his den, asking first if Kestrelkit was gonna steal anything else of his and then asking her if he should inform Wolfclaw that his place was taken.
Meadowkit giggled as the massive tom approached and instead of kicking them out of his nest, curled up around them. A easy thing to do due to the kitten's size. " Yes Uncle Hawkstar you should tell everyone, I'll be Meadowflight the deputy" her bright eyes met the leader's ones with all the affection a kit could give a family member, to her and Kestrelkit Hawkstar and Frozenrain were the same as Aunt Dawnblossom.
The next words came from her brother as he crawled up the fluffy mountain that was their leader and eagerly she nodded in agreement " Yes, I want to catch mice like Daddy does" she added, her small frame almost vibrating from her excitement as she snuggled deep into the upper half of Hawkstar's belly and yawned slightly.
" We will be the best leader's Uncle Hawkstar and make you and Stoneclan proud"she added with a bright smile before her eyelids began to droop as exhaustion from walking back to camp and then playing finally took it's toll on the young kit.

Hawkstar may your dreams be larger than mountains Tiny paws went barely noticed as the kits clambered over him. Kestrelkit managed to scale his flank to settle between his broad shoulders in surprisingly remarkable time, and the large tabby tom chuckled, reminding himself to keep his shoulders steady. The way he was laying created a plateau of sorts for Kestrelkit to curl up in, and it was exactly what the young tom did. With Kestrelkit mostly out of his line of sight, the StoneClan figurehead focused on Meadowkit, who had chosen to nestle near his shoulder, burying herself in the short but warm fur just behind it.
Attuned to the exhaustion lining their voices, the big tom allowed a deep purr to rumble from within. It was a soothing sound, one his own kits had often fallen asleep to many moons ago. "I feel much safer knowing that the great Kestrelstar and his deputy Meadowflight are protecting my nest." He reassured them, pale amber eyes alight with affection. Hawkstar could recall the same anticipation when he was their age, a deep rooted desire to become apprentices and begin the journey to earning his warrior name. He could remember it in his children too. Ah, the wonders of youth. He thought to himself.
"Meadowkit certainly is much better, I can see that clearly. However, you two have three moons to go before you reach an age appropriate to become apprentices." Their disappointed, mumbled protests, heavy with sleepiness, brought a chuckle from him. "Your time will come much quicker than you think. Until then, I'm sure you have plenty of planning to accomplish, don't you? That is, if you are to truly become Kestrelstar and Meadowflight." He purred. StarClan, be kind to them. He thought to himself. They were so young, yet already they had been tested.
Life had a way of testing every Clan cat. Hawkstar himself bore several scars, both physical and emotional, from his many moons. Though he knew there would be many more trials to come for them, he could only hope they could find their way through. Meadowkit 3 Moons - She-Kit - StoneClanThe female kitten was half asleep when Hawkstar replied to her brother's request at them being apprentices and a deep purr rumbled from the large tom's chest, one so similar to the pair's own father's that he used to get Kestrelkit to settle down while they were away and even when the duo was born, the comforting and loving gesture that only family provided. Eagletalon was no doubt with Duskflower, likely enjoying a little freedom with his now healthy mate away from their kits and while Meadowkit knew how much her parents adored her and Kestrelkit, they were still their own cat's and needed some adult time together.
Meadowkit snuggled further against her adopted uncle and with a voice that showed exactly how tired she was she replied "Don't worry Uncle Hawkstar, we will be the best apprentices ever" before she closed her mouth and let a soft purr escape her as she drifted off to sleep against the Stoneclan leader. Dreaming of one day becoming the great Meadowflight alongside Kestrelstar, the sibling rulers of the best clan in the valley.

Frozenrain70 Moons // Warrior-Queen // StoneClanBelieving him to be sleeping, Frozenrain had been content to walk by Hawkstar's den without interrupting her mate. However, the deep, soothing purr emanating from the dark stones was enough to halt her steps. The pale she-cat peered inside, her eyes adjusting to the comfortable gloom to see Hawkstar in his nest - with the addition of Meadowkit and Kestrelkit nestled against him.
She had almost missed the tom kitten, where he lay curled up between Hawkstar's shoulders, much like a sand-colored stone on top of a boulder. A swell of warmth and nostalgia wrapped her heart up tight, and Frozenrain carefully went inside, licking the top of Hawkstar's head with slow, affectionate rasps. This brings back so many memories.
Ah, she was so proud of the warriors Vipertail and Herondive had become. That did not mean she didn't feel a pang of longing for the kits they had once been; she missed their soft downy coats and their sweet faces. The way they kneaded against her belly and snuggled close. The way they had stumbled, then found their footing. The way they had squeaked and mewled and squealed, until they'd found their voices.
Kits were a blessing, not just to StoneClan, but for her personally. Adding her own soothing purr to the song Hawkstar had begun, Frozenrain curled up beside him, drinking in the warmth of good company and safety at his side. If fate was kind to them in the future, perhaps her dream of curling up with a litter of kits would be realized once again? Frozenrain nuzzled Hawkstar, leaning against him.
For now, though, Frozenrain was content to enjoy the little family they already had. 278 Words // BlooRey DVD @kahani // Notes: Thread finished? <3
