Quietstream"No one else can speak the words on your lips" The pale and silent she-cat was sleeping in her walm nest, comforted by the familiar smells of both her sibling's nest laying just a tail length away but something was missing, Neither Piketooth nor Minnowsplash were actually in their nests, instead they had left their mute sister behind to catch up on some much needed rest, with so many warriors struck down with greencough. She needed the sleep and while the more vocal members of Quietstream's family were working overtime to deal with the pressure of cat's falling ill.Quietstream was left, alone as neither of her siblings had much time for her.
What could she do? she was not known for words of comfort, it fact she was known as the one who didn't speak at all, She could not help her siblings or offer them comfort, what would she say? that it was all gonna be okay? She couldn't lie to them, they knew as well as she did that Starcla had other plans for some of their clanmates. Words were as useless to Quietstream as she was to the clan. Those feelings if inadequacy during her apprenticeship has futher got to her as she grew older. There was no point living in a place that didn't need her around, a burden on the healthy and no help for the sick, Quietstream made up her mind.
She would leave, leave Rainclan, leave it all behind and go meet her fate with Starclan by her side. The pale green eyes flicked open as she rose gracefully to her paws and then without a glance at her sibling's nests she walked out of the warrior's den. If she looked back she would change her mind so without so much of a swish of her tail she started for the border of Rainclan and the mountains, the place where she may finally get her peace and secure her place with starclan, she did not deserve to live and yet did not deserve to die, she was stuck in some wierd mindset of limbo, she was stranded.

Tired paws carried the long furred, fawn she-cat back into the relative safety of camp. Truthfully, she found security in her family and friends, not so much in the camp itself. Not after the Civil War, and now the greencough outbreak. Oh how she wished she were a kit again, wrapped up in her mother's care alongside her two siblings. That had been safety. A sudden urge to curl up with Roselight swept over her, but she knew she couldn't do that. Roselight was sick with greencough, and those who were still healthy had been warned to stay away, to contain the sickness to an extent.
Figuring her sister's silent comfort would be the next best thing, Minnowsplash directed herself toward the warrior's den. Quietstream had been in there earlier, and the RainClan warrioress held her breath in hopes her shorter-furred sister would still be there. Her heart sunk a little upon skimming over the empty nest. Parted jaws did manage to register a familiar scent, Minnowsplash retracing her steps to exit the den once more. She might have simply curled up in her nest alone; she was tired enough to do that. But a strange feeling pricked at the back of her skull, an intense desire to see her sibling.
Piketooth would have scoffed at her had she voiced that desire to him, so Quietstream was the obvious choice. It took her a moment to find the scent amongst the bustle of camp, but when she did locate it exiting camp, Minnowsplash picked up a walk that bounced with her worry. Her tail flicked uneasily, thick fur fluffing up unintentionally as she moved, following a recent trail. That was her only consolation: Quietstream had been here recently. If she moved fast enough, Minnowsplash should be able to catch up.
Minnowsplash had never known her sister to move as though she were in a hurry. Glancing nervously around her as though expecting to be attacked by strangers at any moment, Minnowsplash cleared her throat. "Q-Q... Quietstream?" She called, albeit a little feebly. Wincing at the crack in her voice, she tried again, managing a more appropriate volume. "Quietstream? Where... Where are you?" Her heart fluttered in her chest, like the wings of a skittish butterfly jostled by every jagged step. She couldn't help but noticed the direction of the scent trail led nowhere hunting appropriate. Instead, it veered toward the border with the mountains.
A flicker of fawn fur up ahead caught her attention and she pushed harder on her paws. "Q-Quietstream!" She called across the distance. "W-Wait up, where are you going?" |

The elected mute female had just reached the border of the mountains and Rainclan when a familial voice rang out from behind her, the familiar scent caused her to pause mid step. already knowing exactly who it was. It took a few more moments of her statue like structure to soften into the ever graceful cat she had always been and turned around, almost pivoting in her back leg in a elegant flash of movement to meet Minnowsplash's gaze.
She did not need to speak for her sister to know her intentions but she still flushed with embarrassment after all she could not even run away right, the clan did not need a massive mouse brain like her to stuff things up all the time. Quickly Quietstream approached her dear sister and attempted to give her an affectionate nudge with her paw, a gesture she had developed when she noticed either of her sibling's looking stressed, a way for her to encourage them to offload their problems onto her.
Her siblings were much better than her in every way, they were so strong, not like Quietstream who crumpled so much under the weight of her insignificant issues that she did not speak because of how valueless her opinion was, to Quietstresm she was an embarrassment to all, especially to her family.
Perhaps it was a good thing Minnowsplash found her, if Piketooth had of she would never hear the end of it, after all she was mute not deaf and he would badger on about how selfish she wad being and then she would agree and almost flee to her nest. Quietstream had made it a habit to never be in a rush, it was just asking for things to go wrong and with her around, enough damage was already done.
Quietstream peered into her sister's eyes, hoping to catch some sort of clue to the issue the sweet beautiful warrioress now faced, There was no doubt that Quietstream did indead love her siblings and adored being their confidant, they knew she would never tell a soul.

A soft paw against her leg brought with is a rush of familiarity that momentarily quelled her rising panic. Her haunches folded beneath her, the fawn-colored she-cat rather inelegantly plopping into a sit. Her breathing was a little heavy, panting from her run to catch up to Quietstream. Slowly, she willed herself to meet her short-furred twin's gaze, knowing the importance of visual cues when it came to communicating with Quietstream. Her sister looked sheepish, and it took only a glance over Quietstream's shoulders to confirm she'd been headed out and away. Quite possibly forever.
She met Quietstream's gaze with panicked worry, ears folded against her skull even as the other she-cat silently coaxed her to speak. Minnowsplash opened her jaws to speak, but found only air. Clicking her mouth shut with a soft sound, she looked down to her paws, features contorting in confusion as she struggled with the strange, too-rapid thrumming in her chest. She felt like she couldn't breathe, knowing that if she'd been just a little bit later, she might never has seen her sister ever again. "I... I was w-worried about mom... And I needed to b-be with someone s-so I went to your n-nest to sleep.."
She swallowed, dragging her off-green gaze back to meet her sister's. "And when you w-weren't there, I was... S-So worried. The wh-whole way here, I thought 'What i-if I never see h-her again.' And... Th-That was really, r-really scary..." Her voice trailed off, until there was almost nothing left of it. Rasping the last pawful of words, she stared pleadingly into Quietstream's caring gaze. "P-Please, don't.... D-Don't leave me... I c-can't... I can't be s-strong without y-you..." |

Quietstream's sheepish smile faded as her sister spoke, first about the sibling's mother and then how worried Minnowsplash was thinking that Quietstream was gone and mentally told herself off for being so selfish, she had not realised how much her sister actually might need her until those heartbreaking words slipped from the other's maw.
" I can't be strong without you" The words alone broke her heart never mind the pleading gaze her sister was now giving her. Quietstream moved closer to her beautiful twin sister and softly groomed her cheeks before nuzzling the female in an unspoken promise, to never leave the female again, as much as she ruined the clan and made a mess of things, perhaps her siblings actually needed her around.
Yes Quietstream had wanted to leave, to leave her hopelessness and fear behind but now she could not go, her sister needed her, her family needed her and whole Piketooth was a good brother but he did not understand what Minnowsplash was going through, and of course Minnowsplash would have not been so worried id she did not care about the short furred she-cat. Maybe just maybe it was a good thing she got caught, it scared it to think what might of happened if her sister had not found her and instead she vanished forever.
A soft smile appeared on her face as she continued to snuggle and comfort her sister without a word leaving her maw, sometimes it was a gift that she could still interact with other's without using words but her endless curiousity and kind nature seemed to shine though despite her muteness. Quietstream had almost forgotten what her own voice sounded like it had been far to long since she had used it.

With a breathy sigh of relief, Minnowsplash sunk against her sister's comforting presence. The sudden absence of fear and panic left her only with exhaustion, the longer furred sister wanting nothing more than to sink into the safety of her nest. And yet, now their nests were so far away. A small pinprick of hopelessness began in her chest, quelled only by the brush of Quietstream's fur against her own. Despite being so far from camp, the timid warrioress couldn't seem to stop herself from sinking slowly to the ground, uncaring of the debris that might get caught in her coat now.
With her chin perched on an outstretched paw, Minnowsplash let her off-green gaze drift closed. "I... I'm s-scared that... That P-Piketooth is m-mad at me..." She admitted, her mind drifting to his scowling face whenever he'd noted her slipping off after Coldrush. She'd been... Fascinated with the white tom for a long time. They'd grown up together, but it had been more than that. He'd helped her train the last few moons of her apprenticeship, even if he'd seemed incredibly distant while doing so. His training and his advice, she was sure, had even saved her life in the Civil War. Saved Owlflight's life too.
But the tom's distant nature had never gotten better. In fact, the distance she'd seen had begun to change into something else, and that had scared her. She'd not spent time with Coldrush for a while now, but that didn't seem to matter to Piketooth. All he held onto was that she hadn't listened to him in the beginning. "I... I d-don't know what to d-do to fix it... He's... He's n-not been the same since d-dad died... So angry, c-confrontational... And I... I don't want to l-lose him too. What... What am I s-supposed to do, Quietstream? N-Nothing I do... Is e-ever right..." |

Quietstream did not really know what to do, Minnowsplash had always been timid yes but hearing her so insecure nearly broke the pale she cat's heart, to her Minnowsplash was incredible, able to find words where Quietstream failed, but here, now! her sister was scared of loosing their brother, who had become more moody than usual since their father died. Quietstream wanted to tell her sister that it was all going to be okay, that Piketooth was just being a brat and that they would survive and push through as a family. However if Quietstream was honest she had not the faintest idea how things were going to get better.
Sighing softly Quietstream gently groomed her longer haired sister's head affecttionately, her way of comfort and reassurance, perhaps speaking to Piketooth may help with these feelings but how did she convey that to her sister. Quietstream was not completely mute, she was able to make various natural sounds like purrs and growls but words seemed to elude her, in all reality, she just had nothing valuable to say so she avoided saying anything.
Mewing softly Quietstream flicked her tail towards the camp, insinuating that they should return and find Piketooth, their duo's brother was more insufferable than one of the queens during a mood swing and right now Quietstream would not allow for her siblings to bicker so soon after losing so many clanmates to greencough. 24 Moons, Warrior of RainClanQuietstream, "No one else can speak the words on your lips.Drench yourself in words unspoken,Live your life with arms wide open." 267|| @bloofrose|| Thread finished?
