deputy of stoneclan
Green-gold eyes narrowed as they stared out of the den entrance. The rain had started early and refused to let up, putting most of the Clan's day-to-day lives on hold. No one went out unless they had to, and patrols were mostly volunteer-only, with the hardiest, thickest-furred cats taking the brunt of the work.
Wolfclaw hated it. They needed to be training, hunting, working on strengthening the Clan. Especially if they were to take back sun stones and push into LightningClan before the season ended.
The deputy grunted as the winds shifted, blowing some of the freezing droplets into the den and his thick fur. His eyes narrowed further in a show of annoyance at the weather. It was almost time for the sunhigh patrols (not that the sun was visible to prove it), and he decided then that he'd lead one himself.
He rose turned to face the warriors lounging in the den, moving forward to give a gentle nudge to a pretty tortoiseshell she-cat nearby with a soft smile. He scanned the den and lifted his voice in the small space. "I need volunteers for the sunhigh patrols. I'll lead one to the LightningClan border, and I need another to lead the one to RainClan." He paused and waited, curious to see which of his Clanmates would go willingly into the icy rain for the good of the Clan.

Frozenrain 64 Moons // Warrior-Queen // StoneClan
"I can lead the RainClan patrol, or join yours. Your choice, Wolfclaw." Frozenrain spoke up, approaching the deputy without fear or hesitation over going out in the unpleasant weather. StoneClan was important to her; long before she had been Hawkstar's mate, Frozenrain had been a strong advocate of Clan loyalty and pride in who they were. A little rain wasn't going to stop her from taking care of her family.
Though she was now closer to the elder's den than the apprentices' den, Frozenrain still felt healthy enough to serve. It's true that the weather would pose a few health risks to those of 'a more advanced age', but Frozenrain had already made up her mind. If she had ever thought herself ill-prepared to fulfill the role of warrior, she would have stayed in the nursery as a permanent queen. That was not to say that queens did not play a vital part in the Clan - they unquestionably were the backbone of StoneClan - rather, they had more peaceful duties than the average warrior.
Speaking of queens...
Frozenrain's baby-blue eyes moved from Wolfclaw's distinctive pelt to the beautiful tortoiseshell who had claimed the Clan deputy's heart. I'd like to talk to him about Crowdance. They made a very sweet pair. She waited, calm and poised to see what he would decide as several other Clanmates stepped up to volunteer.

31 Moons ~ Tom ~ Bisexual ~ StoneClan Warrior
Foxtrot had been lounging around near the centre of the den, having managed to wriggle, ingratiate, and cosy himself into the warmest part of the den before flopping onto a nest with a lazy-looking posture. As Wolfclaw spoke up the tom-cat perked up his fur-feathered ears with a wry smile. The tom was loathe to leave the warm nest that he had created for himself, but he had fur as thick as sheep's wool and twice as insulating, so he knew he'd fare far better than some of his sort-furred peers outside in the StarClan-awful weather. He wrinkled his nose a little, caught between sloth and duty as Frozenrain spoke, and finally decided that it would be worth it in order to increase his popularity with all the various cats in the clan that he constantly attempted to woo. Everyone would have much more patience for a hard worker than a loaf
He mused, reaching an ultimatum and begrudgingly getting to his paws.
"Count me in too, though you're both equally inspiring so I'm happy to follow whomever."
He mewed, russet tail rising up into the air jovially as his warm centre spot opened up for the cats that had been lying down near him. He fluffed out his fur in preparation for the cold, grinning happily at Wolfclaw and Frozenrain. Now he was out of the warmth, he felt a bit more prepared to go out and about. Who knew, maybe something exciting would happen!

deputy of stoneclan
Wolfclaw smiled as several cats spoke up, mostly older warriors, but a few younger cats as well. "Very well. Frozenrain, you'll be with me, along with Foxtrot and Boulderheart. Hailstrike can lead the RainClan patrol. Take Swiftstrike, Earthstep, and Graniteclaw with you." Warriors rose and stretched as their names were called, and he was glad to see nearly no reluctance from the volunteers. He glanced out of the entrance to the den, seeing the rain still falling steadily before turning back to the warriors.
"I don't doubt that most prey will be sheltering from this storm, but if you do happen across any, do your best to bring it back. I don't have to tell you queens and kits first." He gave a gentle smile. "Thistlerock. If the rain stops while we're gone, take Morningsun and Darkfrost and go hunting. Chances are slim anything will be running, even if the rain does let up, so don't feel too bad if you're unsuccessful; it won't be a reflection of your abilities. If you do make it outside, I want you three to return to camp as soon as the rain starts again." After receiving nods of affirmation from the three warriors slated for the possible hunting patrol, Wolfclaw turned his attention back to the border patrols.
"Let's try to make these patrols quick; we don't want to be out in this weather any longer than necessary." Various warriors nodded their assent, and Wolfclaw turned, sweeping his tail in a 'follow me' gesture. He shivered involuntarily as the first drops of rain met his fur, the icy bits of water slicing straight to his skin. He was drenched before he crossed the camp and had to put great effort to keep his ears erect instead of pinned to his skull. Upon exiting the camp, he gave a nod to Hailstrike, who gathered up her patrol and headed toward RainClan territory. Wolfclaw glanced back at his own patrol, giving another sweep of his tail before moving in the opposite direction, striking out in a swift trot for LightningClan's moors.
When Foxtrot spoke up, happy to join them, Frozenrain nodded approvingly to the young warrior. It was good to see one of Vipertail's friends doing his part for the Clan. If her son and daughter had not already gotten soaked and cold-footed this morning in search of prey, she would have jostled them both from their nests.
Instead, Frozenrain found her daughter, gently rasped her tongue over the pale she-cat's ears, and then did the same for her son. At Wolfclaw's direction, the StoneClan matriarch followed him out of the warriors' den. Even though the weather was unpleasant and their pelts were already beginning to plaster against their bones - except in the case of herself and Foxtrot, who seemed to have denser coats than the others - Frozenrain maintained a pleasant mood. "We've had no trouble from RainClan, since Stormstar's ascension. I wonder how long the peace will last." Baby blue eyes showed only a few trace elements of hostility when the name of RainClan was spoken, and these calmly faded away, her age having blessed her with the ability to… not forgive, exactly, but to accept what had happened and move on.
Her guard would never fully be lowered when it came to RainClan or LightningClan, but she did not bristle with hatred every time she smelled their scent on the border or saw a few familiar faces at gatherings. Her own dignity and position as Hawkstar's mate would not allow it. Cordial, on the other hand, was something she could do very well.
Frozenrain kept her eyes open, but one ears flicked towards the two toms to listen for their thoughts on this matter.

31 Moons ~ Tom ~ Bisexual ~ StoneClan Warrior
The russet tom trotted after his clanmates as they headed out, letting the cold rain slip down onto him softly. He had the benefit of a double-layered coat, which while not water-proof was enough to fend off the cold rain for longer and to greater effect than his clan mates. He flicked droplets off his ears, taking the opportunity to watch Wolfclaw get slowly soaked by the rain with a slight humorous twitch of his whiskers. The big tom always looked so burly, and it was interesting to see exactly how much of that was fur and how much was muscle. Foxtrot was pleasantly surprised by how little turned out to be fluff. He kept himself unusually professional however, refraining from outwardly commenting and even going so far as to glance away. Going on patrol with the deputy and the leader's powerful mate, who could well have been a leader in her own right, was enough to sober-up most cats. Their presence forced him to act more mature.
He followed on Wolfclaw's tail, glancing to the side at Frozenrain's comments before pausing briefly to shake water off his pelt. "As long as they don't think it's worth it I guess,"
He mused, jogging a little to catch back up, "So long as they have enough prey, and so long as their numbers don't swell so much that they can act on the urge to attack, it should be fine... But those two things tend not to happen together, if you catch my drift."
He winked, plenty sure that she had, indeed, caught his drift. Every cat and their grandmother knew that plentiful prey translated to an overflowing nursery.
