Physical Description
With a mother called Moonfeather, it was a surprise to none that Fawnkit was born more or less white. However, her mother was smart enough to recognize that a darker pattern would come in as she aged. As a kitten, her coloring is still coming in, but there's already a dusty brownish-gray shading on her nose, tail and ears reminiscent of her father’s dark brown points. The very short coat is silky and fine, perhaps a little nod to her kittypet heritage. Her body seems unsuited to life in the wild - but whether this is just kittenhood or going to carry over into apprenticeship, only time will tell. Fawnkit's features are petite, and it becomes clear now that she was named more for her delicate appearance than any predictions of her adult coloring on Moonfeather's behalf.
Born small in a large litter, Fawnkit will likely always stay diminutive. Her health is not an issue, however, and she seems to be on the fast track to apprenticeship, keeping up well with kits her own age in the nursery.
Her fur has gained some pigment from both her father and her mother, and appears off-white or cream. She takes after Moonfeather's physique more than her father (slender, with a thin musculature), though she may end up fairly tall when all is said and done. Fawnkit's bright green eyes are from the maternal side of the family.
Description Summary
Slender she-cat with green eyes, creamy fur, and gray-brown shading.Personality
+Gregarious, bright, reliable and good-natured.
Fawnkit is a bright, personable she-cat that’s still trying to understand her place in the world. One of the most gregarious of her siblings, she finds it natural to try to reach out to others and make friends - but there’s a sensitivity here that’s easily offended. A rejection of a play-date or even a simple brush-off by a warrior she has questions for can send Fawnkit backing away politely, fearful that it was something she had said or she had done.
Fawnkit will have to learn that sometimes her Clanmates just feel grumpy, or unsocial in that moment, and that how others feel is not really her responsibility. Being the middle kit in a litter of three, Fawnkit tries a balancing act between leader and follower, happy to go with Aspenkit’s lead or take Amberkit’s advice - while being capable of leadership herself.
Though a bit fragile-hearted, Fawnkit does shine when times get tough, and her family needs her to be on her good behavior. This is probably due to the hard, nearly impossible journey her mother made to bring them to the valley. A sense of grit and inner strength had been born of that journey.
-Sensitive, a know-it-all, quarrelsome, too honest
The trouble with brightness combined with a desire to absorb knowledge like water-soaked moss, Fawnkit’s become something of a know-it-all compared to her siblings. She means well, truly, but she’s not afraid to argue if she thinks she’s right about something - and even if this won’t earn her very many friends, Fawnkit has trouble letting lies stand in place of the truth. If she knows the answer, why not share the answer?
Fawnkit’s also a little too honest. Maybe it’s her mother’s genes showing through, but Fawnkit, despite being very sensitive to critique herself, is quick to point out if someone’s pelt is sticking up funny or if they have a clump of mouse fur stuck to their whiskers. It’s her intention to be helpful, and it goes beyond just pointing out physical flaws - she’s a little too good at reading sibling dynamics in others, and will be the first cat to tell the other litter in the nursery if one of them has hurt the feelings of the other, or is causing jealousy or sadness.
This probably makes her a bit of a busybody, but there’s a chance she’ll grow out of this. Fawnkit seems to notice almost too much, or so the adults around her believe.
History
Fawnkit was born second in a large litter of five. Her mother, Moonfeather and her father, Bramblebrush, were not Clan cats, despite having names and giving their children names in the Clan-cat style. They lived very far from the five Clans inhabiting the valley, and much of Fawnkit's earliest memories of life before TreeClan are few, if not hazy.
It saddens her that all she can remember of her father is a distant, rumbling purr, which seems to grow fainter with each moon that passes. The same can be said for the siblings she lost due to Redcough; Fawnkit has to rely on Moonfeather's anecdotes of Bramblebrush in order to preserve her fragile memories of him.
While redcough took three of Fawnkit's siblings and her father away from them, Moonfeather made the heartbreaking decision to leave with her two remaining kits, to go somewhere - anywhere that redcough did not exist. For nearly a full moon of travel, made slow by Moonfeather having to nurse two tiny kits, Moonfeather wandered. If it hadn't been for the help of a friendly loner, she may not have found the way into the valley at all - and Fawnkit's life could have been very different.
Welcomed into TreeClan by Lionstar, Fawnkit feels as if she's always lived here, as if her old life is nothing but a dream. She may come off as too quick to embrace the Clan lifestyle, while her mother remains independent and self-sufficient, but Fawnkit can't fully forget the loss of life and the hardship the little family of three endured just to get here.
The other queens in the nursery speak of StarClan, of a place in the stars of endless hunting and mild, pleasant weather, of ever-running prey and no monsters. They speak so reverently of the afterlife, but for Fawnkit, she's already found those things. Even with Demon, and harsh winters, and prey that isn't always around, Fawnkit would take this valley over Silverpelt any day. She loves life, and TreeClan, with the full depth of her heart.
