27 Moons. RainClan. She-Cat.

The sand bar was a great place to teach battle moves to apprentices, as well as freshen up on old techniques. However, it was also a good location to fish; for a she-cat who had become... somewhat paranoid over these past few moons (with very very good reason), it was a strategic place to fish. Her view was clear on both sides of the river, and there was no way a cat could step onto the sand bar without her sensitive ears picking up the soft shift of thick granules pressed under paw.

Memories of her apprentice rushed through her mind in time with the churning river. Bitternwing licked the warmth back into her paw, a dead fish beside her the reason for the wetness. She should feel happy today. The sun was shining. The mists were gone. The Clan was preparing well for leafbare.

And yet.

Bitternwing lowered her wet paw, peering carefully at the water's edge, searching for any small fish that came close to the shallows in search of food. Following Stormstar's advice, she would keep herself busy, as busy as she could be without overworking herself before the hardest season even arrived.

Despite her resolve to work hard as often as possible, Bitternwing wasn't at all opposed to company - er, so long as they'd... chosen the right side. Bitternwing wasn't fully comfortable with former Purists yet, not comfortable enough to feel at ease with one on a sand bar in the middle of the river.

Warrior of RainClan. She-Cat. 20 Moons

Sand shifted beneath Owlflight's grey paws as she padded along the bank, having spotted Bitternwing further up the stream and wanting to see if she wanted company. She herself had come down to fish, knowing that the clan deeply needed the food for the moons to come, and had also wanted some time away from teaching her purist apprentice. She held no specific ill will towards Goldpaw, but being around the purist made her feel uncomfortable and unsure of how to behave. She felt like she was stepping on eggshells around her own apprentice, not wanting to every mention anything vaguely political in case they started on a conversation that she knew would only end in anger and resentment. 

She sighed softly, shaking her head a little in an attempt to rid herself of the irritation of her battle wounds from the final showdown that had happened a good few suns ago. They were healing well, thank StarClan, and now were mostly just itchy. She tried hard not to worry at them, knowing that the faster she healed the better she would fare when leaf-bare set its fangs deep into the land.

No greencough for me this year

She consoled herself, glancing up as she drew within speaking distance of her clan mate.

"Do you mind if I fish with you?"

She mewed, soft eyes surveying Bitternwing for her reaction. Owlflight knew that she must still be hurting, probably much worse than most other members of the clan, as she had lost direct family members during the war. Owlflight felt pity flutter in her heart, but she reasoned that that was the last thing Bitternwing wanted, and so kept her features quite calm with a touch of a smile.

RainClan Warrior ~ 16 Moons ~ She-Cat

Mistsong crept behind the bushes following Bitternwing, she noticed that Bitternwing wasn't looking at her direction. Then she looked down-stream just to see Owlflight shake her head then look up at Bitternwing and drew herself closer to Bitternwing, who was still not paying attention. Mistsong started padding around the Sand Bar, trying to get a good view, but then she stopped.





A familiar scent, but stale, filled her nostrils, she found herself falling to the ground, before she could feel the pain she heard Owlflight starting to say something, but she couldn’t seem to make out what Owlflight was saying. Instead of staying awake, there was a thump, then slowly, she closed her eyes.





Memories flooded her mind, then finally stopped, she found herself laying down in the forest. A bush shook, although she kept a relaxed look she found herself in a frightened look, later a cat appeared from the bush. The cat somehow managed calm her down and picked her up by the scruff. The cat took her to RainClan Camp, as cats crowded around her, the scene changed and soon found herself on the highrock. It seemed like a ceremony, but when the cats below cheered “Mistpaw” she thought that it must be her apprentice ceremony. Then something woke her from her flashback.
