Badgerpaw was at the gathering and there were so many cats about, so many faces, so many names. He would never remember them all. He sighed, and sat himself down. Honestly, he didn't know where to start. He knew nobody here, except his own clan mates which he only recognised, he didn't really know them. He felt left out honestly. He walked to the back and sat himself down. For now, he would just watch. He would forget about this gathering most likely anyway. He let out a soft sigh and continued to look around at all the different cats. He wondered, throughout everyone here, would there be someone for him? Someone he could remember? He doubted it honestly. He lowered his head before closing his eyes gently. His tail curled around him softly as he sat alone for now. Maybe he would go up to someone later, before the end of the gathering, but, he wasn't sure honestly. Fawn

After an enjoyable conversation with the other apprentices, Honeypaw slipped away from the group to go have a quick word with Wolfclaw. After gaining confirmation that it was perfectly alright to sit with her new friends, Honeypaw trotted back happily - catching sight of a familiar black and white tom nearby.
"Hey Badgerpaw!" She mewed cheerily, ears flicking forward, her curiosity piqued as she heard him sigh several times before looking her way. Why is he so depressed? Did his friends get left behind? Honeypaw could understand that. Even though she had Hazelpaw here (and Stonepaw), there was still room underneath all the excitement and the giddiness for a touch of sadness, wishing Herondive had been allowed to go with them.
We'll all go together some day. Maybe when we're all warriors. That would be a Gathering to look forward to, for certain.
"Why do you seem so sad? Do you not like Gatherings?" Her leaf-green eyes were bright and inquisitive, her tabby tail twitching in the air behind her as though she could not entirely contain all of her energy. Honeypaw gasped, wincing as she remembered the prey-swapping incident. "Oh no, you aren't still in trouble are you?"
But... why would there be so few RainClan cats present, come to think of it? And why would Timberstar send an apprentice that was in trouble to the Gathering? Honeypaw watched him keenly, awaiting any tidbits of info he had to share with her. What's going on in RainClan?

Forgetting is easy, but remembering is almost impossible.
Badgerpaw looked up to Honeypaw as she came up and spoke to him. Honestly, he didn't know what she meant. He wasn't still in trouble for what? Had he met this cat before? He stared at her for a few minutes before speaking with a small smile.
"Well, I don't know anyone here. There are so many cats, so many faces, so many names. I will never remember them all. Then, there's the gathering. There's so much that's gone on in Rainclan, and so much happening here, I just won't remember everything. I'll forget by sunrise like I always do."
He let out a sigh and then looked up to the sky.
"Sometimes, I wish Starclan really did exist. Then I would be free of this cursed memory. I could actually remember my friends, I wouldn't be surrounded by strangers."
He looked to Honeypaw again and tilted his head. He wondered if he knew her or not, she acted like he did, but if so, what was her name again? He didn't know. He couldn't remember as usual.

Honeypaw let out a small, confused laugh. "What do you mean you don't know anyone here? You know me, silly." She gave his ears a playful swat with the tip of her tail, but paused as soon as he mentioned memory problems. Oh! Her whiskers twitched, ushering in a surge of... pity for the RainClan tom. It must have been hard, forgetting every cat you ever met?
She felt faintly offended that he couldn't remember her, but that thought was fast aside like dirty moss. It didn't matter - she was happy to introduce herself all over again, and explain how they knew each other in the first place. "Well maybe this will help?" Honeypaw took a seat beside him, smiling. "I'm Honeypaw from StoneClan. We met once at the Stone Stream, and swapped prey. I gave you a lizard, you gave me a fish - but then a huge gray warrior, sorry I don't know his name, showed up and you got into trouble."
Was any of that sounding familiar? Honeypaw peered at his face eagerly, hoping for signs of recollection. In a softer, kinder mew, Honeypaw gave his shoulder a gentle prod. "And don't feel so bad about not knowing anyone here. We're so young, we could both go to the next three Gatherings and there'd still be cats whose names we don't know or hadn't met before." Dropping her voice into a conspiratorial whisper, her eyes glinted with mirth. "Besides, I think you have to be as old as Hawkstar to remember everybody's names."

Forgetting is easy, but remembering is almost impossible.
Badgerpaw gave a soft nod as she spoke, it seemed they did know each other. As she spoke about how they knew each other, he gave a small smile. He actually remembered that! He only remembered like, because he got into a lot of trouble and a lecture from Silverstream, but he remembered!
"Oh! I remember, I got a lecture from my mentor, and a telling off from......from....Stormraven? Maybe? I can't remember. There is a lot happening in Rainclan recently. I don't remember all the details, but there is something I couldn't forget. A cat was murdered. I was with the patrol when we found the body. There has been at least two, maybe three. I can't remember how many there cats were killed. They were brought into camp, and it was.....it was..... it jut wasn't nice. How was the fish anyway? Did you get to eat it? What happened? I didn't eat the lizard sadly, I had to give it to the elders."
He hung his head a little, but he was glad that he remembered something, even if he did forget at first, he still remembered it after she reminded him. Was his memory getting better, or was that just luck?

Honeypaw had been content to listen until he mentioned murder. Her pelt fluffed out, eyes widening. "Murder?!" She had the good sense to laugh uneasily as a few cats glanced at them. "You're right Badgerpaw, I bet a murder of crows would be scary to see!" Her loud reply seemed sufficient, as several cats went back to their business and Honeypaw turned back to the tom with a large, concerned stare.
"Two? Maybe three cats killed? Oh Badgerpaw what's happened? Where's Timberstar?" Honeypaw glanced around at the few RainClan cats that had been allowed to come, and her voice dropped to a whisper, tone high with distress. "Is this all that's left of RainClan?" Great StarClan, no!
Her mind was reeling from the new information, forgetting all about the fish question. Who cared about fish when cats were dead? Murdered? "Was it Demon?" How he could speak so casually of such a horrible thing, Honeypaw didn't know.
StarClan, what if it was a pack of vicious rogues? Honeypaw shivered, suddenly wishing she hadn't had this conversation, that she could turn around and go back and listen to Stonepaw and Hazelpaw and Firepaw talk about simpler, less frightful things.

Badgerpaw shook his head gently. There were more cats at the camp. He looked to around before lowering his ears. He now wondered if he shouldn't of said anything. He looked back to Honeypaw who was whispering now and he did the same. "There are more cats at the camp. I can't remember everything, but the cat that caught us, he is leader now. I can't remember who killed them, but I remember........I remember seeing the bodies. I just know it was another cat. Silverstream said something about cats who left the clan and began doing bad stuff, or something. I don't know. I can't remember. I was told where the cat was, but I can't remember that either. I remember bits and pieces from talking about it, but just talking about it isn't helping me remember everything." He looked around once more, before looking back to Honeypaw sadly. "Of course, I didn't feel sad when we found the bodies. I still don't, I can hardly remember it happening, and I don't even know who died. I didn't know then, I don't know now. That's why I'm not sad, because to me, they're all strangers. Anyway, how was that fish, did you ever eat it?" He gave a small smile, he could see she didn't like the subject, so maybe he could change it. He didn't want to scare her. Fawn

Honeypaw's head spun. He didn't feel sad when his own Clanmates had died? Even if he couldn't recognize them, wasn't death sad enough to make him feel something? This unsettled her more than his memory troubles did. Though that was no laughing matter either. When he changed the subject to the fish, she managed an uneasy smile. "It tasted weird. I think I like mouse and finch better, especially when they're still warm."
But any momentary amusement she felt over that memory was quick to dissolve. How could she think of prey when he'd just talked about... about dead bodies? Honeypaw glanced back at the high rock where the leaders were sitting. So that big gray tom from before is Clan leader... Then who is the tabby tom? Confused and disheartened, Honeypaw was spared trying to make more conversation by the arrival of a pretty reddish-cream queen of RainClan.
Her stern cerulean gaze had fallen to Badgerpaw, and she began to herd him back towards the others. "Enjoy your Gathering," mewed Roselight to Honeypaw, and she wished her the same, glancing at Badgerpaw with an expression of... melancholy.
Sensing he was about to get a lecture about what he'd just said, Honeypaw quickly returned to her group of friends, paw-steps heavy and her belly tight with unease. I'm glad I'm not a RainClan cat. Looking at Hazelpaw especially, she moved in and presssed her flank gently against her friend's. No one in our Clan would ever hurt each other. She knew in her heart that she was right. StoneClan had a rough history, but they were goodhearted.

Badger gave a soft nod to Honeypaw and smiled. At least she got to try it. Then another cat came up and began to lead him away from Honeypaw. He looked up to her and then lowered his head. He didn't know who she was, but that didn't mattered, what mattered was that she may of heard him talk to Honeypaw. If she did, then what was going to happen? Was she going to tell the leader? He knew he shouldn't of said anything, but he just spoke, he couldn't help himself. He stopped for a moment, and then looked to the cat before him. "What's going to happen now?" He stared at her, his eyes wide as he sat down. He didn't know what to expect now. His heart was racing quickly, and he was scared for what might happen to him. He looked towards the Rainclan leader, before looking back to her. Fawn
