Hawkstar may your dreams be larger than mountains Sandy paws stepped out into the cool night air, tail twitching behind him as he flicked away the clinging pang of disappointment. Even a Clan leader wasn't immune to the wistful urge to spend the cool night curled up in his den alongside his mate. With one final forlorn glance over his shoulder, he silently bid Frozenrain adieu, though he doubted she saw; the she-cat had only stirred enough to voice a mumbled complaint at his departure. Pale amber eyes peered down from the ledge on which he stood to see cats already gathered. You never miss a beat, Wolfclaw. The StoneClan leader thought with a fond shake of his head.
Hawkstar picked a path down the rock pile easily, reining the chosen cats in with a flick of his tail. Clearing his throat, the tabby tom spoke loud enough to be heard by those before him, but not enough to disturb those fast asleep in the various dens nearby. "Some of you have been to a Gathering before. For others, this is a first. Regardless of your experience, I will remind you all you are to be respectful of all Clans. Tonight, you represent StoneClan, and you are bound by a time of peace."
He knew some might try and argue that the truce had already been disrespected by LightningClan at the Greenleaf Gathering. Before anything could be said on that matter, Hawkstar continued, a heavy seriousness to his gaze. "I do not care what this Clan did or what so-and-so said. Be the better cat. Be StoneClan. And keep an eye out for one another." With a wave of his tail, he dismissed the group and moved to take the lead. As he stepped by his deputy, Hawkstar flashed the other tom a grin and flicked his shoulder playfully with a sand-brown tail.
"One of these day, Wolfclaw, I'm going to step out of my den to find you've left for the Gathering without me." With a mrrow of laughter, the StoneClan leader stepped around his deputy, pausing again as he passed the two apprentices invited. He smiled to his daughter's friends, and rested his tail momentarily on his apprentice's shoulders, offering the pair reassurance. "Honeypaw, Hazelpaw, if either of you have any questions, or feel uncertain about anything, I know any of the warriors invited would be more than happy to help you. Especially Eagletalon. He's a big fan of questions." He told them, grinning slightly to himself.
Before long, the StoneClan cats moved as a group across familiar territory. He'd tread this particular path for this same reason several times since becoming leader, and though the cats following behind him varied, it brought with it a distinctly familiar feeling. Pale amber eyes flicked to the gray tom at his side, nodding silently to Wolfclaw as they moved through the moonlight. As the stone surroundings gave way to less unforgiving terrain, Hawkstar slowed the group to a stop, jaws parting to taste the air. He was greeted only by old scents, and silence save for the breaths of the StoneClan patrol.
Flashing Wolfclaw a grin, he meowed. "First here." With a chuckle, his tail beckoned to the patrol, inviting them to follow as he dove into the clearing more so out of habit and for the exhilaration than any show of strength. Wolfclaw raced at his side, the pair pulling away from the group to each take their designated spots. Wolfclaw peeled off soon after, leaving Hawkstar alone to scale the familiar rocks with ease. Seating himself contently, the StoneClan leader wondered idly who would be next to arrive. Another though crossed his mind; would Timberstar remain at the head of the RainClan patrol?

NightClan Deputy - 30 Moons - She-Cat Things had been rather dreary around camp lately. Days seemed more cold and grey than usual, and the sun's warming rays did little to help warm things up. It wasn't anything that Redcloud wasn't used to by now. She had spent many a day of her life experiencing the bleakness of the more bitter seasons. Experience didn't do much to offset the depressing feeling said seasons gave off though.
So the gathering was a welcomed change of pace for her. Granted most of what she did during said gatherings was stick to her own little group and chatter amongst them. Perhaps today would be different though, there was no shame in talking to some cats from other clans. It could be fun even, or at least more fun than standing around in one spot the entire time. Either way, she ought to try to get herself out there now. She was the new deputy after all, probably best to make a good impression instead of just hiding away amongst the other Nightclanners.
After making her needed preparations, the ginger she-cat waited for the leader's word. It wasn't long before Dimstar made himself present and led the group of this gathering's attendees out of the camp. Cold air seemed to burrow through her fur and nipped at her flesh, causing a shiver to run down the lanky feline's spine. Silently cursing the very seasons themselves, she wished her winter coat had already fully come in. 'I suppose it does not matter much, I can always steal some of Tinytail's warmth when we get there' She thought.
The trek to Starclan's claws seemed longer than she remembered this time around. Longer than it had even when she was an apprentice. Perhaps that was simply a sign of the deputy's boredom, but whatever the case it felt like an eternity before they finally arrived. But when they did arrive she was ecstatic, watching as Dimstar scaled the rocks with an unbeatable grace. She quickly took her own place at the base of the boulder, doing her best to appear as regal and strong as her leader did. Her eyes scanned the cats that surrounded them, her ears twitching all the while as she listened to her leader greet Hawkstar. It appeared that everything was in order for Nightclan, now all they had to do was wait for the rest of the clans to come.

i'm headed straight for the castle THEY WANNA MAKE ME THEIR QUEEN Cold evening air ruffled the short fur of Firestar just as she emerged from her den. Her amber eyes sought out the figures she asked to gather in the middle of camp. Most were huddled together to share warmth. The she-cat leader trotted from her den to them and joined the crowd, commanding their attention with her presence.
"I'd like to have a words before we leave," She meowed, as few nodded in agreement, others turning their heads to look at her. "This is the first gathering after our victory at Sun Stones. However, do not insight any kind of violence. If confronted by a StoneClan cat walk away." She paused waiting to see the reaction of to what she said, most agreed. Then her attention settled on the youngest members. "Sunnypaw, Cloudypaw and Batpaw. It is very importnat you are on your best behavior tonight but it also important you enjoy your time at the Gathering. Feel free to socalize, just be mindful." She explained to them, giving each apprentice a soft touch with her nose to their forehead. "Lets head out,"
Firestar rose up first and everyone followed in behind her. Setting the pace for the slowest member of their group, the trip itself was made tiring due to the cold weather. Sunnypaw was the first to complain about the cold air but it was Russetfall that told him if he wanted to get warm to trot up ahead. Sunnypaw didn't bother to go instead he stopped his complaining and focused on keeping with the group. Firestar glanced back toward her mate and offered him a teasing smile. Not bothering to comment.
The group arrival was slowed simply by the scent of StoneClan and NightClan filling the space. She turned toward her group and offered them one last look, a way to remind them of what she said. Flicking her short tail and putting her head up high, Firestar strode into the clear of StarClan's Claws and directed her paw-steps right for the other two leaders present.
She offered neither of them a worded greeting, instead she nodded before taking her place and watching her clanmates start to mingle.

I look ahead to all the plans that we made and the dreams that we had. I'm in a world that tries to take them away, but I'm taking them back.
Rushwhisker waited by the camp entrance, surveying his recovering Clan and trying not to let his uncertainty show through as he waited for the small patrol of cats to convene for the trip to the Gathering. Stormstar was trusting him to speak for all of RainClan while he oversaw things in camp himself after everything that had happened. It was an enormous honor and responsibility, and one he had never thought he would have to bear. He didn't have to wait long, Stormstar had not wanted to send many cats, after all some had been hurt. So the patrol was far smaller than normal, leaving plenty of cats behind to defend the camp and look after the injured.
He glanced over the gathered cats and stood, ears twitching back, “I'm sure I don't have to remind any cat to be mindful of what they say at the Gathering.” He thought of his own conversation with Bluejay some moons ago, when this whole ordeal was only beginning. Bluejay had later warned him that something awful was going to happen to his Clan, though she hadn't been able to tell him what. Things would be different this time. This time, he would speak in front of every Clan, and he had best watch his words carefully unless he wanted RainClan to appear weak and vulnerable to every cat there. His gaze settled briefly on Piketooth, hoping the hot-headed younger tom would have the sense to keep from letting his emotions get the better of them while they were there.
“If any cat asks, RainClan is doing well. Yes, we've had some problems, but they're solved now,” that was true enough, though not entirely. Just because the war was over didn't mean the purists that had rejoined the Clan were going to have an easy time of it, or that they would forget their disdain for cats without 'blood purity' that remained in the Clan. “You may impress upon cats of other Clans that the exiled cats are dangerous and not to trust them. If you're going to focus on anything, focus on that. We don't need other Clans' blood on our paws over this. RainClan has shed enough already.” With another look over the patrol, he nodded, “All right. Let's get going.” He met Roselight's eyes for a long moment and twitched an ear for her to join him at the head of the patrol before he turned and led the way out. He lowered his voice as the creamy she-cat appeared by his side, “Keep an eye on Piketooth, would you? And Badgerpaw. Piketooth is your son, so you know how he is, and Badgerpaw is young. I'll have to address all the Clans so I can't-”
She shook her head, “Don't worry about it, Rushwhisker. I'll keep watch over everything on the ground. You just focus on what you're going to say.”
He purred softly in relief, “Thank you.” She nodded and fell back a couple steps, giving him space to think on the journey to StarClan's Claws. He slowed to a stop as the scents of NightClan, LightningClan, and StoneClan washed over him as they neared their destination. He took a deep breath and braced himself before trotting forward, flicking his tail for the rest of the patrol to follow. His steps hesitated as he headed toward the boulder that three leaders now stood atop and wondered if he should join them. Did he have the right to join them? He glanced back at his Clanmates and realized they probably expected him to take Stormstar's place on the boulder and represent them properly.
Shaking out his fur, he bounded the last few tail-lengths to the boulder and leaped up, nearly misjudging the distance, but managing not to make a fool of himself. He took a moment to steady himself at the boulder's edge before taking a few steps forward, glancing awkwardly at the three leaders already there and dipping his head respectfully. He glanced down at the clearing and all the cats milling around, trying to remember what he had planned to say on the way here. At least the Gathering wasn't starting yet and he still had time. He closed his eyes briefly, praying that StarClan would give him the right words, and wouldn't let him say more than he needed to say.
Cause all of this time I've just been too blind to understand what should matter to me. My friends this life we live, it’s not what we have, it’s what we believe in. Invited CatsJaycry Shellstep Badgerpaw Piketooth (NPC) Roselight (NPC)

blinded by the light of a new sun take it to the world, gonna sing it like an anthem
Despite being the last to arrive, Lionstar and his chosen Clanmates did not hurry to StarClan’s Claws. It was important that he had a word with everyone before they started to interact with the other Clans. ”We are going to say nothing about Nightmare and Moonfeather tonight, do I make myself clear?” The assembled cats met his gaze readily, and there was a sense of mutual understanding between all of them. The Clans would undoubtedly have much to talk about with one another - Lionstar had no intention of adding a TreeClan apprentice turned rogue turned apprentice, or a loner queen and her two kits to the list. Besides, there was plenty else he intended to bring up at the Gathering - such as trespassing by LightningClan. With a calm flick of his tail, Lionstar rallied TreeClan and led them deeper into the forest, memories of moons past flowing all around him as he traveled to StarClan’s Claws. The scents of four other Clans - thin, wiry LightningClan, fishy, sleek RainClan, marshy, shifty NightClan and stocky, arid StoneClan - greeted him at once. Slowing to a proud stride, Lionstar descended, curving around one of StarClan’s Claws to join the other leaders in the center. He climbed the enormous boulder in a few short bounds, taking up position between Hawkstar and Dimstar, greeting all four leaders with a cooled smile. ”Greetings Hawkstar, Firestar, Dimstar, and…” The cooled smile lessened into a mildly confused look. The cat standing before him was neither Timberstar or Bluewave, but a young tabby and white tom called… Rush… Rush-heart? No, Rushriver? Rushwhisker. ”...and RainClan,” he finished, suspecting there was a story to be told here. He would not affix Rushwhisker with the suffix of ‘star unless the tom announced himself as the new leader of RainClan. In which case he, and many of the cats there, would have plenty of questions about the ongoings in RainClan for the past three moons. Now that he fixed his gaze upon the crowd of cats, Lionstar was able to pinpoint only a pawful of RainClan cats. Where’s the rest of them? Ill? Had something happened to RainClan this leaf-fall? Lionstar saved his musings for later, and instead sought his deputy out next, nodding confidently to Gorsetail and Bluejay. There was also Firepaw, Stonepaw and Gorsetail’s apprentice Nightpaw in the crowd, and for those three, this was their first Gathering. He’d told Gorsetail to keep an eye on them - they were meant to mind their manners, and keep quiet about the current state of affairs. Lionstar briefly thought to Firepaw’s friendly, chatty nature, and felt a thorn-prick of worry. But he cast this aside; she deserved more of his trust than that. She was nearly a warrior, not a chirping little apprentice anymore. leader of TreeClan Invited CatsGorsetail Bluejay Firepaw Stonepaw Nightpaw Sparrowdawn Cloudpool Skyshadow (NPC) Emberflower (NPC) Cedarclaw (NPC)

Hawkstar may your dreams be larger than mountains The scent of NightClan was the first to flood his senses. A sandy ear flicked, his muzzle angling toward the group of shadowy warriors as they erupted into the clearing, headed by their silver eyed leader. He noticed, with mild interest, a new face joining the ranks of deputy; no more was Sleekshade at Dimstar's side, but a red-furred she-cat. He watched her but a moment, before his gaze fell upon Dimstar once more, the gray furred tom quickly scaling the ledge to join him. Offering the tom a nod, he mewed quietly. "Good evening, Dimstar." Although the hour for evening was long passed, 'Good night' felt odd on the tongue.
LightningClan was next to arrive, and the sandy tom's tail twitched almost imperceptibly behind him. He watched their calico leader advance, trailed by her own red-furred deputy. The lack of a verbal greeting did not go unnoticed by the sand colored tom, Hawkstar choosing to return the slight inclination of her head with a simple: "Firestar." His thoughts didn't linger long on the she-cat, for movement drew his attention. Watching a rather small group of RainClan cats enter, Hawkstar noted Timberstar's absence and found himself pondering the happenings of RainClan in recent moons. Sending a silent prayer to StarClan, he wished her well.
Perhaps it was inconsiderate of him to assume her passing, but the story nearly told itself. She'd looked incredibly frail at the last Gathering, the tang of sickness thick around her despite the attempts to cover it. He was yet again surprised to see another new face at the head of the patrol. Has Bluewave not become Bluestar? He mused to himself. When the tabby tom at RainClan's head joined them, albeit looking a little lost, Hawkstar offered him a pleasant smile, and an inclination of his head. "Greetings." He mewed, forgoing a name on account that he couldn't quite place this tom.
TreeClan joined them last, Lionstar's large and familiar frame an almost... Welcome sight. Lionstar scaled the rocks with ease, and the sand-colored StoneClan leader offered him a smile too, dipping his head as the TreeClan leader greeted them all in turn. "Welcome, Lionstar." Knowing full well that conversation amongst the leaders seldom occurred, Hawkstar didn't hesitate to mew politely. "If no one has any objections, StoneClan will speak first." Glancing at each of the leaders in turn, he offered them a moment to interject before dipping his head. "Thank you."
He rose to his paws, broad-shouldered frame approaching the edge as he surveyed the Gathered cats. He could see uncertain glances his way as conversations were rushed in hopes of finishing before they were interrupted, and though he would have no problems allowing the cats more time to interact... He felt as though some leaders were not of the same mindset. With a wave of his tail, he called out in an unwavering voice. "The Gathering will begin now." Pausing as the surrounding murmurs died down, Hawkstar also took the opportunity to collect his thoughts.
"StoneClan has fared well in recent moons. Prey is still running, and our warriors are working hard as ever in light of the approaching Leafbare. We welcomed one of our apprentices to the ranks of warrior, under the new name Herondive, when she proved she possessed not only the skills, but the heart of a warrior. We look forward to welcoming more of our apprentices into the warrior ranks soon. Thank you, StoneClan has nothing further to report." With a nod to the gathered cats, Hawkstar stepped back to resume his position beside Lionstar, waiting for the next leader to step forward. leader of stoneclan and may you have the courage to scale their summits background image | harley king | Fawn Insidious Hellion @zen @dreamer | table by phoenix

DIMSTAR leader of nightclan “Same to you, Hawkstar.” This was Dimstar’s third time attending a Gathering as leader, and he’d already made a name for himself as being formal and to the point. He didn’t go out of his way to make neighborly greetings, but on the contrary, he wouldn’t blatantly ignore one of his fellow leaders if he was directly addressed. His eyes found Hawkstar’s briefly before the air was filled with the scent of LightningClan, and he inclined his head, impeccably polite and yet immeasurably indifferent, as the short-tailed leader claimed her rightful place. Her greeting was on the brink of non-existent, but he’d grown used to Firestar’s mannerisms from so simply standing next to her; there was next to nothing that crawled under the NightClan leader’s skin, so if he was going to start to feel something in his nine lifetimes, it certainly wouldn’t be loathe towards being overlooked. If anything, he was inclined to push her to stay true to who she was when she stood with her fellow leaders. If she didn’t look, then she didn’t see. If she wasn’t seeing his face, then she was missing out on the emptiness to be gathered from his eyes. She was a proud, confident she-cat that took advantage of opportunities, and her shadowy counterpart could just as easily be a snake.
There was unaddressed tension between StoneClan and LightningClan. He could sense it, but he didn’t press for information that would likely soon be his regardless. He cast a thoughtful look into Firestar’s guarded features, and then another into Hawkstar’s almost… forcibly polite before they were graced with the presence of RainClan. They were present, if not in amusedly lacking attendance, and he hardly had time to wonder who would be joining them in Timberstar’s place when he didn’t catch a glimpse of her sickly, fox-life face before a young tabby leaped onto the rocks. A name didn’t jump to the surface of his thoughts, so Dimstar wisely chose to not waste him his time attempting to identify someone he quite plainly didn’t know. TreeClan’s arrival, and Lionstar’s joining them, had almost gone unnoticed if not for the sound of his own name on the golden leader’s tongue. He tipped his head in acknowledgement, but his focus lay elsewhere in poor disguise. It wasn’t interest with which he sized the RainClan warrior up as much as foreboding calculation. Was RainClan in such an immense state of disarray that they brought forth a new, young leader? Weren’t there more warriors to bring from their territory to at least pretend there was some strength to elude their neighbours? Hawkstar began the speeches, but Dimstar was interested in none as much as RainClan’s. He politely averted his eyes—if not a tad too late to be deemed polite—to feign attention as it was due to the stories of StoneClan’s continued well-being. When it circled to RainClan’s turn he would be enwrapped in every word; it would be such a pity if NightClan had missed an opportune moment to push their borders. Perhaps it wasn’t too late, but alas he had the patience to find out. If there was weakness inside of RainClan’s borders, then he wouldn’t hesitate to exploit it in time for the fast-approaching Leafbare.
Hawkstar’s speech arrived at a close, and Dimstar quickly took his place. “New warriors are always pleasant news to report, Hawkstar. Thankfully, it won’t be long before NightClan can do the same. Ashpaw, Coalpaw and Sootpaw are our newest warriors in the making, but the nursery isn’t empty just yet. We have plenty of mouths to feed in time for Leafbare, but a flourishing group of warriors and apprentices to provide as needed. Our Clan is faring better than ever before.” A Clan’s strength could never be pressed onto enough at a Gathering. Dimstar largely credited his new breeding regulations, but that wasn't a conversation for the Gathering; he saw no point in gracing his counterparts in rank with the secret to their success. A moment of pause had come and gone. “Some of you might’ve noticed Sleekshade’s absence, but I assure you that she’s alive and well. Redcloud has taken her place, and she’s been a remarkable, reliable addition to the authority of NightClan.” With nothing further to add, Dimstar stepped back. He wondered absentmindedly if Lionstar would shed light onto the fox Smokefur and Redcloud reported chasing onto TreeClan territory, but it didn’t overly concern him. He’d sooner the predator plague TreeClan’s territory than his own. but if all we are is just machines

i'm headed straight for the castle THEY WANNA MAKE ME THEIR QUEEN The arrival of the thick scent of fish at Firestar's full attention. The RainClan party was smaller than she anticipated. She wonder for a moment if Rookfrost knew anything about it. The medicine cat had visted Swanfeather awhile ago, but he mentioned nothing of RainClan's condition. However, even if RainClan and LightningClan had a history of being allies, Firestar had little interest in keeping that alliance alive. She wanted to do what was right for LightningClan, focusing on keeping all of them fed and healthy was her main focus. She wasn't going to stick her whisker into another Clan's territory unless she was planning to take some of it.
Even if she was disconnected from the other Clans by choice, it was the valley gossip that kept Firestar a little more aware. RainClan had been dealing with a lot and likely the tom cat the leapt up to sit on the leader's rock was either there on Timberstar's behalf or something else had happened. She knew it would all be explained in due time.
The last clan to arrive was TreeClan and as Lionstar lead them into the clearing, Firestar offered him a welcoming nod. Watching as he showed some confusion on how to address the RainClan cat, Firestar attention drew to the cats he brought with him. It was refreshing for Firestar to see that Lionstar also brought along a few young apprentices, her attention went to Sunnypaw and his sister for a brief moment. She prayed that who ever talked to them didn't ask them about their family.
Firestar offered no complaint as Hawkstar took the lead in gathering. Instead he kept her ears sharp for any mention of the sunstone, hearing none, Firestar's ears twitched. Hawkstar must not to admit defeat. As the brown leader finished his report, Firestar's attention returned to the gathered cats. She met the gaze of a few, those from StoneClan sent back a glare but Firestar remained unfazed.
Dimstar went next, Firestar reflected on his stoic nature. Oddly similar to Rookfrost she noted but didn't bother to pay any closer attention to his behavior. The news of more apprentices and even if they were rivals, Firestar was pleased with the news. Even more news came from Dimstar in the form of a new deputy. For a brief moment Firestar looked toward Redscar, giving him a short nod.
Sensing that it was her turn, Firestar rose and took a few steps forward, finding it funny to realize that she was currently the only she-cat leader in the valley.
"LightingClan is doing well. Kindleflare has completed her Medicine Cat training is now a fully trained medicine cat. We have many new apprentices, three of which are present tonight. Batpaw, Sunnypaw and Cloudypaw are all working toward earning their warrior name. Prey is running well and LightingClan continues to grow strong," She meowed to the crowd gathered before dipping her head and stepping back, a signal her report was finished. I look ahead to all the plans that we made and the dreams that we had. I'm in a world that tries to take them away, but I'm taking them back.
The leaders seemed to be stepping up to speak in the order they had arrived and Rushwhisker's pelt tingled nervously as his own turn seemed to grow closer. Stormstar had gone over briefly what he was meant to report when the new leader told him he would be going in his place, but he certainly hadn't told him how to say it without making RainClan look vulnerable and weak. That was all on him to figure out. He wished he had had a couple nights to think about it, to get the words right.
Hawkstar reported that his Clan was doing well, as did Dimstar. That was good. They were of the most immediate concern to RainClan's well being, seeing as they shared borders. If their Clans were doing well, then they were less likely to start conflict at the border. Firestar made a short report about new apprentices. An expectantcy hung in the air as she stepped back and he glanced at Lionstar, wondering if the TreeClan leader wouldn't want to go first, since he himself wasn't even a leader.... Then he realized none of them would know that. For all they knew he WAS RainClan's new leader.
There was no more time to think. He stood, taking a deep breath and gathering all the confidence he could muster. He dipped his head respectfully to the leaders around him once more before stepping up to the edge of the boulder they stood on and overlooking the cats below. He met Roselight's encouraging gaze briefly before finally speaking, “As many of you have likely guessed by now, Timberstar has passed on. She was sick for some moons, but she is now at peace in StarClan.” He paused in respect for the deceased she-cat before continuing, “Our new leader is Stormstar, chosen by StarClan themselves. Some of you may have known him as Stormheart.”
He glanced around the gathered cats briefly, his ears twitching, “He asked me to speak for RainClan tonight so that he could oversee matters in camp personally. So, I suppose I have the honor of introducing myself as RainClan's new deputy. I am Rushwhisker, as I'm sure most of you do not know me by name.” He felt awkward introducing himself and his new position to the entire Gathering and quickly moved on, “I won't try to lie to you all and tell you everything has been fine in RainClan. Any cat could guess by our patrol tonight that it hasn't been.” He caught sight of Piketooth looking furious at his admission and Roselight doing her best to keep him from calling out so he could finish.
He raised his voice slightly, to better get across how very important his next words were, “RainClan has exiled a number of traitors from our Clan. They murdered Clanmates and are extremely dangerous.” He looked to each of the leaders on the rock around him seriously, “I urge all of you not to take them in, and to be wary if you find them on your territories. They do not follow the Code.” He dipped his head again, “If you scent RainClan on your territories, it is very likely one of these rogues, so we would ask that you not jump to conclusions about RainClan stealing prey. Our river is still full of fish and we have no need to break the Code and risk war to survive.”
He could feel his heart thrashing against his chest, praying once more to StarClan that he was saying the right things, that he wasn't putting RainClan at risk. He took a moment to let all that information sink in and to recollect his thoughts. What else had Stormstar wanted him to mention? Swanfeather. His ears flicked back, “Swanfeather is no longer RainClan's medicine cat. She is one of the cats that has been exiled. She disgraced her role, betrayed RainClan's and StarClan's trust, and twisted signs and prophecies to suit her own ends.” He fought hard to keep the venom out of his voice as he spoke of the she-cat, but a little seeped through despite his best efforts, and so he moved on from her, “Ottersplash is a full medicine cat and is filling his role as medicine cat well.”
He ran over the list of things Stormstar had told him to go over in his mind and breathed a soft sigh of relief that he was nearly finished. He lifted his voice again, looking around at the cats below, “I share all of this so that every Clan is warned of the dangers of these traitors. And so that every Clan knows that RainClan is watching our borders carefully for any sign of their return.” He did not want to accuse their neighbors of the possibility of trying to take advantage of them, but he knew it existed. So he warned them off without accusing them of anything at all.
The possibility of retaliation from the traitors was real as well, and RainClan WOULD be watching their borders carefully, and would notice anything amiss quickly. “Despite our hardships these past couple moons, RainClan is strong, and willing to stand together against anything that threatens us.” He thought of his recently reunited Clan and was confident his words were true, despite the strain and tension that remained from the civil war. RainClan would stand together once more when it really mattered, and they would get past this. He looked over at Hawkstar, his heart longing to apologize for all of RainClan for what they had done on Swanfeather's word, but that had not been one of the matters Stormstar had asked him to speak on.
But it was what felt right in his heart. With the new revelations of Swanfeather's lies, there was no way RainClan could NOT apologize. They had thought at the time that what they were doing was right. That StarClan was warning them that if they didn't take more for themselves, RainClan would suffer gravely. That hadn't been the case at all. He himself had only been a kit at the time, he didn't have StoneClan's blood on his paws, but he still felt guilty for what his Clan had done. Had he been old enough to participate, he was sure he would have refused. Whatever punishment his mentor or deputy or leader wanted to give him would be far better than attacking another Clan in their camp and driving them from their home.
He turned toward Hawkstar fully and bowed his head, “Hawkstar. One of the many lies Swanfeather told led RainClan to unite with LightningClan against your Clan. I would never expect you to forgive us for what we did, but I do want you, and all of StoneClan, to know how much we regret it.” He raised his head to meet Hawkstar's eyes, “It was wrong. More than ever, we know that now, if we didn't know it before.” Briefly, he wondered if this civil war hadn't been StarClan's way of punishing them for the action they had taken against StoneClan so many moons ago. With another deep breath, he dipped his head to Hawkstar and stepped back from the edge of the boulder, looking to Lionstar, expecting him to speak next, but also waiting for some cat to start hurling questions at him that he wasn't sure if he would be able to answer.
Cause all of this time I've just been too blind to understand what should matter to me. My friends this life we live, it’s not what we have, it’s what we believe in.

blinded by the light of a new sun take it to the world, gonna sing it like an anthem
The subtle twitch of his tail was all that betrayed his present distaste for Firestar. Listening with a noble bearing, it was as much a 'wall' he presented to the other Clans to hide his true thoughts as it was a message, that TreeClan was thriving. He acknowledged the apprentices Firestar named, finding them out in the crowd, though his heart was unable to share in the joy of having new 'paws. Those 'paws were going to grow up to be LightningClan warriors, which would potentially spell trouble for TreeClan in the future. With Firestar's closing statement, Lionstar nearly rose to address the gathered cats, when he saw the RainClan tom get up first. With a curt nod, Lionstar relaxed back into a seated position, keen for the moment to hear what was going on in RainClan. And why so few cats were here. TreeClan's news was likely not so interesting to the other four, so it bothered him little that TreeClan would go last. Timberstar's passing was not unexpected. Lionstar murmured his condolences when there was a moment to do so, repeating them in private to StarClan, aware that the red-furred she-cat would likely be watching over the Gathering tonight. “RainClan has exiled a number of traitors from our Clan. They murdered Clanmates and are extremely dangerous.”Lionstar stared, the noble bearing briefly shed for surprise that radiated on every cat's face (except for Dimstar). Murdered Clanmates. The golden tom cursed under his breath; one Grayowl was bad enough. Multiple Grayowls? He didn't know if he had enough lives to fix that kind of disaster. Unable to refrain from showing interest, Lionstar threw a stern, quieting look to the TreeClan cats in the crowd, hushing his Clan as the other leaders did the same so Rushwhisker could continue. Almost more unexpected than the news of traitors in RainClan, however, was the apology issued by the water-loving Clan's new deputy. Lionstar knew first hand the kind of devastation StoneClan had faced at the hideous acts of their neighbors; he could not stop his gaze from drawing upon Hawkstar, attempting to read the large tabby tom's reaction to Rushwhisker's humbled apology. It could never undo the bloodshed and the horror of that day, but it was a step towards peace. Lionstar commended the young deputy on this decision. Rising at last as Rushwhisker stepped back, he addressed him clearly enough for the others to hear. "Well spoken, Rushwhisker. TreeClan sends their condolences over the loss of Timberstar, and congratulate Stormstar on the guardianship of RainClan.""TreeClan has endured this leaf-fall well." Began Lionstar, voice carrying around the gathering-place. "We have had four new litters in the nursery, with Silentsong's litter of two born the day before this one, and Dreamchaser's litter of one born earlier this day." The golden tom's expression became somber, remembering the fallen queen's name. "Unfortunately, Dreamchaser did not survive the kitting. However her son, Aspenkit, is being well taken care of."Murmurs of condolences echoed around the Gathering, and Lionstar continued. "I have news to share about deputies as well." He found Gorsetail in the crowd. "Meadowleaf has stepped down to have kits of her own, and Gorsetail has become TreeClan's new deputy. Prey is running well, though leafbare closes in. Our borders are secure, and any paws seen straying into our territory will be dealt with." Lionstar met Firestar's gaze, letting go of the subtlety. "I trust you'll keep a closer eye on your warriors in the future. Even apprentices know better than to trespass."Tearing his gaze away, Lionstar returned to his place beside Hawkstar and Dimstar. "TreeClan has nothing further to report."leader of TreeClan

Hawkstar may your dreams be larger than mountains Dimstar was the first of the leaders to step forward, and Hawkstar dipped his head slightly as the NightClan leader spoke his name. He listened politely to the silver-eyed tom, learning of NightClan's flourishing strength. Hawkstar inclined his head in mild interest as Dimstar seemed to simply... Gloss over the switch in deputies. With little else to add, NightClan's leader stepped back and allowed Firestar the spotlight. The mention of LightningClan's newest medicine cat drew Hawkstar's pale gaze to where the Clan healers sat. It didn't take long to find the she-cat in question; she'd obviously been ill-prepared for the mention, and sat bolt upright with a rather shocked glint in her eyes.
Firestar closed with words displaying LightningClan's strength, earning another twitch of the tail tip from the neutral-faced StoneClan leader. And then it was the RainClan tom's turn to speak. Sandy-hued ears pricked forward, intrigue glittering behind his amber eyes. The RainClan cat began by confirming Hawkstar's suspicion; Timberstar had passed on. Stormstar... The StoneClan leader thought to himself, doing his best to picture RainClan's new leader. He was disappointed to find he could not put a face to the name. Hawkstar did note, however, that Rushwhisker's introduction most definitely indicated more to the story.
And a story it was. Treachery and murder within a Clan... He pondered silently, imagining the chaos it must have wrought upon RainClan. It was no wonder the patrol tonight was so small, and that Stormstar had decided to stay with his Clan tonight. Equally as troublesome was the news that RainClan's medicine cat, Swanfeather, had been a part of this. Making a note to speak with Wolfclaw about doubling border patrols for the next while, Hawkstar's ear flicked curiously upon finding Rushwhisker's gaze landing on him. The RainClan deputy looked unsure as to whether he was finished speaking or not.
Rushwhisker turned to face him suddenly, Hawkstar straightening fractionally as the RainClan tom bowed his head and spoke directly to him. When their eyes met as Rushwhisker's apology drew to a close, Hawkstar inclined his head respectfully to the tom amongst the rising murmurs from down below. Trusting Wolfclaw to silence what Hawkstar knew to be the hushed voices of StoneClan warriors, Hawkstar held Rushwhisker's gaze a moment longer. The RainClan deputy was right; words would not right the wrongs StoneClan had undergone, and it would certainly not extinguish the flames of distaste burning in the hearts of many StoneClan warriors.
But in Hawkstar's eyes, it was a beginning. Perhaps, as time went on, a more agreeable relationship with RainClan could be attained. Sandstar had made his decisions. Hawkstar had tried his best not to hold the actions of RainClan's previous leader over Timberstar's head; he would extend the same courtesy to Stormstar. RainClan's apology was far greater an effort at mending severed ties than had been put in by LightningClan, after all. As Rushwhisker stepped back to let Lionstar take the stand, Hawkstar flicked his tail against the deputy's shoulder, and dipped his muzzle once more. It was a simple gesture, but one that said 'I heard you, and I thank you'.
Settling back on his haunches once more, Hawkstar turned an attentive gaze toward Lionstar as the TreeClan leader stepped forward. The golden tom spoke of new kits, and introduced TreeClan's current deputy. Noting the exchange between Lionstar and Firestar, the sand colored tom wondered idly what had occurred. Warriors crossing the borders? It seemed a strange thing to Hawkstar; unless, of course, Firestar was planning yet another grab for territory. Doubling border patrols is sounding ever more appealing. He thought.
With the final leader's closing remarks, Hawkstar let his gaze travel the leaders, pausing a moment to offer the opportunity to speak up one last time. When he felt certain things had settled for good, the large StoneClan leader stepped forward again, addressing the gathered cats. "I signaled the beginning, and I suppose I shall signal the end. If there is no further news or issues to discuss, then the Gathering is officially closed. May StarClan light each of your paths." His voice was strong, the moons of experience beneath his paws lending a certain comfort to the task despite the large audience.
Offering each of the leaders a polite farewell (some more forcibly polite than others), the StoneClan leader took his leave. Large paws descended from the leaders' perch with ease, the sand-hued tom joining Wolfclaw as the gray deputy worked to round up the StoneClan attendees. News will certainly spread fast amongst StoneClan. He mused. leader of stoneclan and may you have the courage to scale their summits background image | harley king | Fawn Insidious Hellion @zen @dreamer | table by phoenix
