Minkpaw padded along with a look of awe on her face, mouth unabashedly hung open as she looked up at the massive arching stones over her head. She had sneaked out of camp again, something that had become increasingly common as her apprenticeship continued, and had convinced herself that the one place that she could go to, that she could well and truly feel brave for exploring, would be StarClan's Claws themselves.
She had never been to a gathering and probably wasn't going to get to go to one for a good long while, especially with behaviour like hers, and the idea of this place had filled her with curiosity and wonder.
Were they actual cat claws? Did StarClan themselves live here? Did the place feel any different to the rest of the territories? What did the other clan territories look like from the claws?
All this and more had raced through her mind, and it had been inevitable that she was going to explore the place by herself. After all, if she already knew what the place looked like, then she wouldn't look as dumbfounded as the rest of the apprentices at her first gathering. Smugly, the she-cat thought of how she would be able to boast to the other apprentices that she had already been here.
The fluffy brown apprentice drew close to the central boulder, pausing and gazing up at it. This must be where the leaders stood when they addressed the clan cats! Minkpaw perked her ears up, glancing around to see if anyone was around. Despite her rebelliousness, she was as scared as any other apprentice would have been to get caught.
I wonder if StarClan can see me? Can I get in trouble from them?
She wondered anxiously,
No, don't be silly. It's nowhere near a gathering and I'm not trespassing. This is neutral ground and StarClan won't mind me being here
She comforted herself, then bunched up her hindquarters and leaped up onto the main stone with an increasingly giddy expression on her face. The she-cat jumped to the highest point, then looked out and around her proudly, puffing out her chest as she surveyed an imaginary crowd of cats. It was too tempting.
"IT IS I! MINKSTAR OF LIGHTNINGCLAN!"
She yowled proudly, strutting around on the leader's rock with her tail high in the air like a banner.

Forgetting is easy, but remembering is almost impossible.
Badgerpaw was back from his journey. He let out a soft sigh, he wanted to help, but all he did was burdened others. He wished that his memory wasn't a problem, but it was. He continued to explore, this time, he wouldn't get close to any of the borders, and he wouldn't run away. He didn't want to cause any more trouble. Instead, he ended up at StarClan's Claws and just in time to hear Minkpaw shout. He slowly stepped forward with a confused look on his face, she looked no older than he.
"You look like an apprentice to me, but hello. I am Badgerpaw, from Rainclan."
He smiled to her as he looked up at her. He didn't bother climbing up to stand next to her, instead, he sat down and continued to stare up to her. He didn't even know this was the gathering place. He had been here, nor heard of this place, well, he probably had but he just couldn't remember, as always.

Minkpaw squeaked in shock and surprise as she heard another voice, fur prickling up all along her spine and making her look like a pine-cone. The apprentice dropped onto her belly and peered over the edge of the rock, green eyes wide as she looked down on what she feared might be an entire patrol...
But it was just one cat. An apprentice with no mentor or patrol around him.
Thank StarClan!
As the fur began to settle on her back, Minkpaw stared down at Badgerpaw critically. He looked smaller than her, but that could just be because he was at the bottom of the rock and she was at the top. He appeared innocent enough, with a smile on his face and no prickling fur. Perhaps not a threat? He was out here alone too by the looks of it, so probably couldn't taddle on her without getting into trouble himself.
"RainClan huh?"
She mewed, standing up so that she looked more dominant and staring down at him from her great height,
"and why are you out here RainClanner? Searching for dry land or something?"

Forgetting is easy, but remembering is almost impossible.
Badgerpaw looked up at her before looking down to the floor. His tail stayed low, not really saying anything for the moment. He was worried that he would get in trouble again for talking to another cat from another clan, but this time, he wasn't trespassing or sharing prey, so it should be alright. He looked up to her and gave her a small smile once more.
"I came here to explore, I have never been here before."
He looked around before slowly standing up. He walked around and jumped up on the boulder and stood next to her.
"It is very nice from up here."
He gave a small smile and sat himself down, staring down below him as he swished his tail softly. He would have to try to remember this place, it seemed very nice.

6 Moons. LightningClan. She-Cat. Minkpaw tilted her head in confusion at the tom below her, trying to read him. He seemed mild and un-aggressive, like he wasn't trying to trick her by acting calm. His response was simple and logical, and she couldn't help but shrug in agreement, exploring was the main reason why she had come here too anyway.
Despite all the calm behaviour, the young brown apprentice jumped to her paws and bristled as Badgerpaw jumped up beside her.
"H-H-HEY!"
She hissed in surprise, disliking how close he had got to her. He smelled of water and fish, and Minkpaw's nose wrinkled a little as her fur prickled. He didn't seem to be trying anything aggressive however, and she tentatively let herself relax a little as he started to make casual conversation, eyeing the tom suspiciously as she did so. She had never met a cat from another clan, and despite herself she was fascinated.
"Yah... I always wondered what it would look like from up here. It'd be cooler if everyone was here for a gathering though. Imagine being a clan leader, standing up here and yowling for everyone to hear."
She grinned at the idea, her internal image of herself with a star at the end of her name rising again.
No one could tell me what to do then

Forgetting is easy, but remembering is almost impossible.
Badgerpaw looked to Minkpaw for a moment, tilting his head as she mentioned the gathering, before looking back down below him. He wasn't sure what the gathering was, but something about clan leaders standing on the rock? He wasn't too sure honestly. Besides, even if he were leader, he wouldn't make a very good one.
"If I were leader, I would destroy Rainclan. I would be a terrible leader. You see, I have a terrible memory. I can never remember anything, and always forget when I wake up at sunrise. I just wish I could meet somebody who wouldn't forget. I wish there would be a time so happy in my life, I couldn't forget, but that won't happen, not to me."
He lowered his head slowly, before looking over to her. He watched her, wondering what she would say, before looking back down to the floor.

6 Moons. LightningClan. She-Cat. Minkpaw scoffed at Badgerpaw's rather morose stance on his memory, forgetting that he was from a different clan and giving him a little playful shove,
"Oh don't be such a soggy mouse! You can't just wait around for some mythical happy memory in the future, just enjoy yourself in the moment."
She mewed, dipping her head to look at the tom as he lowered his gaze.
"Buck up. You can't be that bad surely?"
The apprentice stepped forward again, swishing her tail to brush into Badgerpaw's face as she bounded down from the stone and onto the ground, puffing out her chest as the proud and resplendent "Minkstar" as she gazed up at the RainClan apprentice.
"I'm sure you wouldn't be a completely shotty leader either. Memory isn't everything after all, how's your battling Badgerstar?"
She crouched playfully, eyes narrowed as her tail swung up into the air like a war banner.

Badgerpaw listened to her and gave a small smile. He gave a simple nod and looked forward for a moment. Honestly, that's all he could do, live in the moment. He looked back to her though, and tilted his head when she asked how his battling skills were. He had never done any battle training, not yet anyway. So honestly, he had no idea how well he would fare.
"When I was younger, my memory was so bad that I couldn't even remember my siblings names. It's improved slightly now, but it is still very bad. I can hardly remember my mentor's name. I think it was...... Goldenstream, but I am not sure. I can't remember. I have never done battle training yet, so I don't know how good I am."
He jumped down from the stone and stood in front of her and watched her carefully. He crouched slowly like she had done, and gave a small smile. He wasn't sure how well he would do, but he could certainly try. He let out a soft sigh, waiting on her to start first.

6 Moons. LightningClan. She-Cat.
Minkpaw watched Badgerpaw come down from the rock, wiggling her rear-end as she waited for him to get a bit closer. He looked a little half-hearted, and she watched his body language closely.
"My mentor's called Robinflame, and I haven't had any battle training either."
She replied, grinning a little at his sigh.
"Buck-up Badgerstar, I'm sure you're better than you think."
She bunched up her legs, eyeing him, then leaped at him, front legs wide like a hug as she aimed them to playfully batter his head, claws sheathed as her eyes lit up with a bright excitement. She had never really tried battling before, but it felt exhilarating to test her strength against another cat, especially a cat from another clan. This was the most realistic safe battle practice she could have ever hoped to have gotten.
She felt a little fire start up in her belly, a need to better herself, a need to be a strong fighter and to impress as well as protect others with her strength. Today would be the beginning of greatness if she had anything to say about it.

Badgerpaw waited, he listened to what she had to say, and gave a small smile at the name 'Badgerstar' as if he were a leader, he had to admit, it was quite a name. He liked the sound of it, Badgerstar. Then, as she jumped at him, his eyes went wide. Badgerpaw reacted on instant, and immediately jumped out the way from Minkpawm, ending up at her left side, and immediately, Badgerpaw attempted to strike at her. Whether he hit or missed, he stood back and sat down.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I......I just moved."
He stood up slowly and walked to her, he sat down gently and gave a soft smile to her.
"Are you alright Minkpaw?"
He gave a small smile to her, before looking up at the sky. His ears perked up, listening out for her. He hoped that he wouldn't forget her name. He felt Minkpaw was a friend, and he just hoped he wouldn't forget her like he forgot all of his friends.

6 Moons. LightningClan. She-Cat. Minkpaw felt her paws close onto thin air, landing down on all fours as she looked around for Badgerpaw, spotting him to her left and moving out of the way in time to soften the blow to more of a brush of her fur. She grinned, twisting to face him again as she crouched, but it seemed that he had sat down with a slightly unsure expression,
"What am I? Some kind of fragile dry leaf? I can take it, don't worry."
She snorted, amused by his concern.
"Come on, how would I ever get any better at fighting if I didn't learn to take a hit? Besides, you barely brushed me."
She paused though, tilting her head with her own rise of concern,
"If you're not a fan of fighting, we don't have to. I just kinda thought it would be fun, but we could explore or chat or something instead."

Forgetting is easy, but remembering is almost impossible.
Badgerpaw listened to Minkpaw and quickly shook his head. It wasn't that he didn't want to fight or didn't like it. It was just that he didn't believe in himself, and he didn't want to hurt a friend. Sure, she was practically a stranger to him, but to him, most of his friends were strangers only because he kept forgetting about them, and he had to relearn who they are and what they're names are.
"No, no. It isn't that I don't like fighting. It's just that, I'm never good enough. I'm a terrible apprentice, a burden to everyone. Sometimes I wonder why I am even an apprentice in the first place. Once, I tried to run away from my own clan then they came looking for me. I hate my memory problems, I only make things worse for my clan. I always just give them hard work to deal with. I don't know any fighting skills, and if I did, I've forgotten them already. Then, there's you. I don't want to hurt a friend, especially one so pretty like you. I wouldn't want trouble with your mate."
He got himself up and got in position again. Then, he stared at her, waiting for her to start. He didn't want to start first, in case she wasn't ready.

6 Moons. LightningClan. She-Cat. Minkpaw gazed at Badgerpaw, tail flicking from side to side as she listened to him,
Poor guy seems really torn up about the memory issues. Don't blame him if it affects him to that level though...
She relaxed her posture, a sympathetic frown clouding her features. It was such an awful idea, having such a bad memory that you couldn't actually learn properly or remember the names of your friends. The young she-cat felt a sinking feeling starting in her belly,
Does he know his parents' names?
But the conversation had moved to herself, and she smiled wryly at being called his friend.
How long have I known you? Less than a day
She appreciated the sentiment though. The tom was funny and seemed like a sweet guy, so she didn't mind him thinking of her as a friend. It went further though.
Pretty? Dawwww
She blushed a little, tail swiping faster from side to side half out of appreciation of the complement and half out of awkwardness. She liked him, but she really had just met him and the comment felt a bit like a flirt, which she wasn't very comfortable with. The second comment was hilarious to her however,
"PFFFFFTHAHAHAHAHA!"
She cackled, feeling a little weak at the knees,
"Are you k-kidding me!?"
She panted, trying to gather herself enough to speak,
"First off, no I don't have a mate. I'm six moons old dude I almost literally just walked out of the fox-dunging nursery!"
She put out her front leg to support herself better, taking in a deep breath and looking at him properly,
"Secondly, even if I DID have a mate. The only cat you should be scared of having trouble with would be me. I don't belong to anyone, and if you think I do, then maybe I should make sure to hit you properly next time."
She mewed, voice some kind of mixture between deadly serious and playful, and she personally wasn't really sure which one it was. She crouched, tail twitching as she waited for him to make the first move this time,
"Now attack me already,"

Forgetting is easy, but remembering is almost impossible.
Badgerpaw looked down, rather embarrassed. Of how stupid of him. Of course. He let out a sigh, and shook his head. Well, it didn't matter anyway, he would just forget soon and it would all be over.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I was being stupid."
He looked down before looking at her once more. After a moment of hesitation, he pounced, arms stretched wide, hoping to pin her down. He doubted this was going to work, but he didn't know what else to try. Whether he pinned her down or not, he would speak again.
"I know we only just met, but I consider you my friend because to me, all my friends are strangers. It takes a while for me to remember their names, because of that not many cats talk to me because they don't want to have the same conversation with me all the time."
He watched her carefully, and if he had managed to pin her down, he would continue doing so for now until she asked him to get off her.

6 Moons. LightningClan. She-Cat.
"Don't sweat it,"
She mewed, wriggling her hind quarters with her tail rising into the air like a challenging banner as she eyed him. She bounced a little on her paws with a grin, mentally thinking of how much she was going to whoop this tom's metaphorical rear, to the point that she didn't actually notice when he leaped at her.
With a speak of surprise the she-cat snapped out of her day-dream to find that Badgerpaw was on top of her,
"Foxdung! I wasn't paying attention!"
She spluttered, but it seemed that he was going to use the opportunity to chat with her, and though she attempted to wriggle away at first, it was half-hearted and she ended up lying on her back, paws pressing into his belly, and looking up at him as he spoke.
"Well you don't have to worry too much about that. Even if we saw each other again, I'd just say some kind of explanatory blurb or something. Keep you up to date."
She found that her hind paws were pressing into his belly, and it occurred to her that in a real fight she might have been able to rake his belly with her claws from this angle. Instead she pawed at his belly with her claws sheathed, continuing to mew,
"Blah blah hi I'm Minkpaw blah LightningClan blah we play-fought on a border this one time."
She chattered, increasing her belly-pawing to more of a light kick to prompt him to get off her.
"You wander away from your territory often?"
