Silverglade
I stand alone between my heart and the coming danger that lies ahead.
Loner || Queen || 22 Moons
Sandkit's eyes went wide as the two other adults approached, but he remained unafraid and curious as he let the Medicine Cat tend to his burns. He mewled softly to his mother to encourage her to remain standing - even he could tell how tired she was - and he let out a sound of alarm as the two other adults had to brace his poor mother as she swayed on her feet. He looked up at Dawnblossom, a new sort of respect in him for this she-cat that helped them. Patience, she said, he could do that. He was curious, but if he wanted answers he had to wait for them.
He tilted his head to the side at her question. Star Clan? Well... "Mama has told me stories about Star Clan. It's...those of the past that watch over us and protect us and help to guide us on our path. Or something like that. Um...is my Mama going to be okay? She takes good care of me but..." The poor little kit was beside himself, but he held up well. He just wanted everyone to be alright. He couldn't do much as young and small as he was, but he wanted to; so much. He couldn't protect his Mama like his Papa could, but he could make her smile and forget to be sad sometimes so that's what he did. But maybe...maybe...maybe these other adults could make her better too?
It was a testimate to just how tired and weakened she was that Silverglade didn't react to suddenly having to relative strangers so close to her. She let them lead her into their clan territory, aware enough to keep Sandkit with her and where she could protect him. She had to stay awake, she had to protect her kit. She had to...She...had...to...And down she went; collapsing into a nest inside the medicine den as at last her strength finally gave out.
Sandkit let out a startled yelp and darted out from underneath his mother so she wouldn't accidently squish him. He climbed over her and nuzzled her in an attempt to rouse her, mewling quietly in concern. Eventually he wandered onto her side and turned his head to the side before dropping it onto her head and going oddly quiet for a long moment in time. His tail was sticking straight up and his little feet were planted firmly apart so he didn't fall but for once he wasn't talking. He had the most serious expression of concentration on his face before finally he rose and stumbled head over feet off his mother with a low 'umph' of sound.
He shook himself and sneezed before looking to the other adults and announcing his findings. "I think...the thump-thump sound being like that means she's just tired. Or...that's how it sounds usually when she's really tired. It made a different sound that time she ate the bad berries and got really sick so...I don't think she's sick. She's just tired. Um...she'll be okay though, right?"
He curled up at her side, ears flicking in all directions as if now that his mother wasn't awake he needed to stay near her. The little orange kit wanted to protect his mother even if he couldn't do much. He knew she was just tired; she had to be. And they were safe here, right? Mama wouldn't have brought him here if they weren't. So like the very young often did, Sandkit trusted those around him and snuggled closer to his mother. She was just tired, the thump-thumping coming from her was the same as when she was tired. That's what she'd told him before at least. So he would rest too and then when his Mama was awake again he'd go and explore. There were so many new smells here and he wanted to sniff them all and ask what they were and what they did. That could wait though, for now they were safe and warm and he would stay by his mother's side and rest.
