Oh watch me go, I'm a happy girl and I've come to know that the world won't change just 'cause I complain. Let the axis twirl, I'm a happy girl.
Stretched out to one side of StoneClan's camp, Duskflower enjoyed a pigeon with her daughter Mistcloud. They took turns pulling out a few mouthfuls of feathers and setting them into a neat pile for her to take back to the nursery with her in between takings bites to eat and a little light gossip back and forth. Mistcloud had not let go of teasing her about Eagletalon since she'd told her daughter about their little adventure with the eagle. But she intended to turn the tables on her today.
“Don't think I've missed how you keep eyeing Redclaw over there,” she purred quietly, casting a glance across the camp where the ginger and white tom Redclaw spoke with Whitefur. Mistcloud hissed playfully at her to shut up and she giggled, taking another bite of pigeon.
“Oh? It looks like you've got your own admirer, mother,” Mistcloud purred herself, gazing past Duskflower at the tom making his way over, with his own gaze clearly set on the calico she-cat and an easy smile on his muzzle.
Duskflower turned her head to look, for a heartbeat wondering if Eagletalon was coming to say hello. Instead she saw the gray tom Ashflame heading her way. Her ears twitched in surprise and he stopped a short distance in front of her.
“Sorry to interrupt your meal, but I just couldn't help but notice how radiant you are today, Duskflower,” he spoke smoothly, with a hint of a purr in his tone that had Duskflower and Mistcloud both giggling girlishly.
“Radiant, you say?” Duskflower tilted her head, her voice lilting playfully, “I'm not sure I've ever been called that before. How lovely of you to say, Ashflame.” Like Eagletalon, Ashflame was a senior warrior that had never taken a mate of his own. Perhaps he was trying to rectify that. It was no secret in the Clan that Duskflower wanted more kits, a point of contention between her and her daughter Smokestorm, who seemed to think it was still too soon for her to be mating with some other tom after Silverstorm's death.
But to Duskflower, life had moved on, and Silverstorm would want her moving on with it, not clinging to the past. The Clan needed more kits, and she was more than happy to provide and raise them with the right tom. However, it was also no secret in the Clan that Ashflame enjoyed flirting for the sake of flirting, so perhaps that was all this was. He wasn't really her type anyway, but she was more than happy to engage in a little harmless flirting.
Oh watch me go, I'm a happy girl, everybody knows that the sweetest thing you'll ever see in the whole wide world is a happy girl. Fawn

65 Moons // Tom // Senior Warrior // StoneClan If he hadn’t already seen Mistcloud and Duskflower enjoying a pigeon together, he would’ve joined them sooner, asking if they wouldn’t mind the extra company. It was better not to interrupt the mother-daughter pair, he knew two close cats when he saw them and heard their soft, feminine giggles from the other side of camp.
Eagletalon smiled to himself, watching Duskflower from the corners of fierce amber eyes, appreciating the happy, pleasant aura she radiated simply by being herself. Bringing the fresh kill to the elders instead, he stopped to share a few words with Fallenleaf before he returned to the center of camp. A prickle of dislike ran up the length of his spine like a shiver, the smile momentarily slipping into a frown of interest as he watched Ashflame saunter over to the two she-cats.
It would’ve surprised him not if Ashflame was over there to catch Mistcloud’s eye, but a sixth sense, the kind that appealed to his naturally competitive spirit, decided otherwise. Eagletalon wore a risk-taker’s smile, a roguish glint to the eyes as he strode over, scarred pelt and muscles gleaming under the bright morning sun. ”Come on, Ashflame.” He mewed, feeling no shame over stealing the other warrior’s thunder. ”Can’t a tom say something to another tom and expect him to keep it a secret?” Eagletalon spoke with mock affront, as if very disappointed in Ashflame’s behavior. Throwing a wink to both Mistcloud and Duskflower, his gaze lingering for a few heartbeats longer on her than her daughter, Eagletalon leaned down and whispered quite loudly. ”I told him to stop stealing my lines, but he just won’t listen.”
Obviously Ashflame had come up with that one himself, but Eagletalon couldn’t resist putting a little doubt in their minds over the matter. Meeting Ashflame’s none-too-appreciative stare, Eagletalon’s eyes smirked while his mouth bore a jovial grin that was common to the senior warrior.
It wasn’t that difficult to come up with the word radiant and pin it to Duskflower; he didn’t want Ashflame patting himself on the back too hard over something that wasn’t exactly a stroke of poetic genius.
Besides, actions spoke louder than words with she-cats. That was his impression, anyway.

Oh watch me go, I'm a happy girl and I've come to know that the world won't change just 'cause I complain. Let the axis twirl, I'm a happy girl.
“Uh oh...,” Mistcloud murmured, with barely disguised glee, as she caught sight of Eagletalon making his way over. Ashflame had heard, and followed her gaze to see the other tom coming, his ears flicking back with a certain amount of annoyance. Mistcloud leaned toward her mother and whispered with an amused giggle, “You sure are popular today!”
Duskflower's ears twitched curiously as Eagletalon admonished the gray tom, causing Ashflame's ears to flatten as he threw a none too friendly glare at the sandy colored warrior. She tilted her head, her tone taking on a motherly, scolding tone, “Now, now, Ashflame... you shouldn't give your Clanmates such dirty looks...,” she lowered her voice slightly, teasingly, “It's so very unattractive, you know.”
Ashflame could do nothing but turn that ugly stare to her, glancing between her and Eagletalon as if they had planned this and set him up to make him look bad. His tail lashed angrily behind him, and he turned to Eagletalon to spit indignantly, “Maybe you should take your own advice, Eagletalon.” With that he turned and stalked away, his tail still lashing and his ears pinned to his head.
Duskflower's ears perked forward, feeling a bit bad, “Wait, Ashflame, don't go! We were just having a bit of fun!” The gray tom acted as though he hadn't heard her and kept going until he slipped out of camp and out of sight. She shook her head and gave Eagletalon a scolding look, “That wasn't very nice of you, Eagletalon.” But her tone was playful again. She had no idea what had occurred between the two toms, but she hoped Ashflame wouldn't be angry for too long over it.
Mistcloud glanced after the fleeing tom, pushing to her paws, “I suppose I'll go make sure he's all right.” She winked at her mother as she passed between her and Eagletalon, so the tom wouldn't see, making it clear to Duskflower that she was only using Ashflame as an excuse to leave them alone. She watched her daughter leave with a bemused smile and glanced at the half eaten pigeon still sitting by her paws.
She sighed dramatically, “Well! You've chased away all my other company, so now you'll have to share this pigeon with me instead.” She had taken on that mothering tone that left no room for argument, but then she laughed and rather ruined the effect. She tilted her head, her eyes sparkling with amusement, “Will you join me? We haven't really spent any time together since our little adventure.” She purred before looking him over, “Has your paw healed up all right?”
Oh watch me go, I'm a happy girl, everybody knows that the sweetest thing you'll ever see in the whole wide world is a happy girl. Fawn

65 Moons // Tom // Senior Warrior // StoneClan The smile he’d already been wearing deepened as Duskflower joined in, teasing Ashflame in a way that was a joy to witness; every cat in the Clan knew the tom was so vain if anyone caught him staring at his reflection in the sky springs one day, no one would be surprised. He had enough cheek to wave at Ashflame as the tom shot him a nasty look and stalked off, his flirtatious game interrupted in a way that only put Eagletalon in an even better mood.
Mistcloud left shortly thereafter, and Eagletalon said a quick ‘bye Mistcloud, don’t worry about that old sourface’ before Duskflower turned her scolding motherly tone upon him in its full force. It took concerted effort to wipe the smile off his muzzle, trying his damnedest to look suitably admonished as he readily took a seat beside her.
Sinking readily into a more comfortable position—laying down in a slight crescent moon shape, angled towards her—he felt his pulse quicken at Duskflower’s pretty little giggle. He hadn’t realized how much he’d missed that sound after going a few days without it. ”Paw’s all healed up, thanks. Your sister did a great job.” For demonstration, Eagletalon turned over the formerly cut paw; it was more of a scab or callus where the cut had been, and did not pain him much anymore.
Every now and then he’d step on a hard piece of gravel that sent a throb of pain right up through his foot, but that couldn’t be helped.
Though he had Duskflower’s attention all to himself now, Eagletalon’s thoughts were pulled as though by magnetic force back onto Ashflame. Does he show up a lot? What’s that tom up to… If he was courting Duskflower, then he was doing a lousy job of it. Eagletalon hadn’t witnessed much, and maybe it was the hopeful optimism of a bachelor who didn’t like being a bachelor, but he got the impression that Duskflower wasn’t so easily won over by sweet words from one of the Clan’s most flirtatious cats.
”How about tonight we go for another walk? If you promise not to attract any more troublemakers—hawk, feline or otherwise—we can even go by the sky springs.” Eagletalon’s tail tip twitched with amusement, and he resisted making more jokes at Ashflame’s expense. He couldn’t help it; it was in his nature to tease his Clanmates when he thought they were ridiculous. Hoping she’d say yes, Eagletalon couldn’t help adding, ”Herondive’s all grown up. I have a lot more free time now.” --- Word Count: 423 Words Tags: @zen Notes:

Oh watch me go, I'm a happy girl and I've come to know that the world won't change just 'cause I complain. Let the axis twirl, I'm a happy girl.
Duskflower leaned over to peer at his paw at he revealed it. She had learned not to always take cats at their word when they said they were fine after an injury or illness. More often than not they were just bored and sick of laying around waiting to heal, or trying to look tough, when they should be resting so they didn't get any worse. Eagletalon seemed to be healing up fine, however, and she hadn't heard anything from Dawnblossom about him so she relaxed again. Her sister would have had words for a patient that disobeyed orders and put themselves at risk needlessly, and Duskflower was very certain she would have heard about it by now.
She purred, “I attract troublemakers?” She eyed him, “Hmmm... then what does that make you, I wonder.” Her tail flicked him playfully and she leaned down to take a bite of her pigeon, swallowing it before speaking again, “A walk would be lovely. I haven't gotten out of camp much lately.... I've been thinking of moving back to the warrior's den, for a few moons at least, until there's more for me to do as a queen. Honestly I've been feeling pretty useless the past moon or so.” Her whiskers twitched with amusement. She wasn't overly upset by the feeling, she just wanted to rectify it and be done with it.
She tilted her head slightly and purred again, “Oh yes, you've successfully seen another apprentice to warriorhood now. How many apprentices have you had?” She knew of Windsong, of course, and Herondive, but she wasn't sure if there had been others or not. She simply hadn't paid Eagletalon that much attention previously. He had seemed so beyond her, a warrior with so much experience, in battle, in life in general. She hadn't imagined she would enjoy spending time with him at much as she did. Senior warriors were supposed to be strict and boring, after all, or so she had always thought during her apprentice and younger warrior moons.

65 Moons // Tom // Senior Warrior // StoneClan Eagletalon suppressed a cheeky smile. The worst troublemaker of all. He'd chased off the eagle, offended Cloudflame to the point where it wouldn't surprise him if the warrior snubbed him for the next couple seasons... Eagletalon hadn't considered himself a 'stick to the Code, the Code is life' kind of warrior, but now that she put it into perspective, even jokingly... Maybe he was kind of a troublemaker.
Taking a bite of the pigeon as well, he listened to Duskflower's concerns over not being any use to the Clan. If his mouth hadn't been full of prey, he would've adamently insisted she was useful to the Clan, even in the nursery without any kits to look after--but then the sensible part of his brain that wasn't so beholden to his gut-reactions, saw the sense in her words. And that it meant she would be in the warriors' den with him, Darkfrost, Wolfclaw and all the others...
"I think that's a good idea." He mewed, batting a pigeon feather out of her neck fur with a gentle swipe of his paw. "If you feel like you need any hunting practice or battle practice, I'd be happy to help you." There was another question that had carved itself into the forefront of Eagletalon's mind, but he put it aside a moment to answer her curiosity about his apprentices. It was always a good subject to discuss with him; he enjoyed mentoring, even if he didn't always get paired up with apprentices that shared his lust for life and battle, it was still a good opportunity. "Six, now that Herondive's a warrior. Sharpclaw was my first, then Adderpaw, Cricketleap, Windsong, Redclaw." There was a note of melancholy in his words when he said the names 'Adderpaw and Cricketleap'. Those two young she-cats had been promising, and he could recall, clear as day, how painful it had been during the greencough outbreak to know that Cricketleap had succumbed to the illness.
She had been so eager, so full of life--Eagletalon thought for sure she would've stayed just as energetic and happy well into her elder moons. --- Word Count: 359 Words Tags: @zen Notes:

Oh watch me go, I'm a happy girl and I've come to know that the world won't change just 'cause I complain. Let the axis twirl, I'm a happy girl.
She blinked in surprised as he suddenly batted a feather from her fur. It was such an easy, careless gesture between friends, she wasn't quite sure what to think of it. It seemed only a few days ago she had barely known Eagletalon, and suddenly they were racing across the territory being pursued by an eagle, and now they seemed as close as if they had been friends her entire life. Duskflower had always been social, always found it easy to make friends, especially with her own Clanmates, but something about her relationship with Eagletalon just seemed so... effortless.
She purred, “I'm sure I could use a review of my battle skills.” She had requested to be placed on the occasional hunting patrol over the past several moons, and sometimes went hunting with her sisters or daughters, so she wasn't terrible in that respect. The last time she had fought seriously, however... she couldn't even remember. Possibly before her daughters had been born. It couldn't have been as long as StoneClan's return to the valley, surely? She giggled, “I wonder if my claws even still work?” She flexed them experimentally, “Oh, wow, look at that! Still there after all these moons!”
Her ears twitched in surprise at the number he named for the apprentices he had trained in his life. “Wow... that's... impressive,” she mewed honestly. “Wow...,” she repeated, “Just think about that. What if each of your apprentices trained another 6 apprentices of their own? You'd have trained nearly half the Clan through them!” Her whiskers twitched with amusement as she looked over at him with a certain amount of wonder. As a cat that had never had her own apprentice, it was hard for her to imagine training six.

68 Moons // Tom // Senior Warrior // StoneClan Eagletalon laughed, a surge of affection for the sweet, funny calico overtaking him as she unsheathed her claws, flexing them as if they hardly ever saw the light of day. No wonder Silverstorm asked you to be his mate so fast. It made sense; a she-cat this fun to be with, this genuinely goodhearted was... Not heart to come by, but unique enough that you knew you had to be fast, or some other tom would try to catch her eye instead. What in StarClan's name was I doing 20 moons ago? That's when Smokestorm and Mistcloud had been born. He'd been, unsurprisingly, training an apprentice, which was probably why he'd missed someone so wonderful who was there right under his nose the whole time.
Her earnest awe of his many moons of mentoring helped chip away some of the remorse he felt, over not noticing her sooner. It wasn't as if those twenty moons had been wasted, and he was as certain as the whiskers on his face that Duskflower would never regret the beautiful family Silverstorm had given her; Eagletalon's tail tip flicked, scolding himself. He had no right to wish for impossible things. He had no right to disrespect Silverstorm's memory by wishing he'd met Duskflower first.
Eagletalon couldn't help feel competitive. It was just who he was.
Genuinely curious as well as wanting to know her plans for the future (whether or not that included him was beside the point), Eagletalon purred. "Maybe not six, they should leave some apprentices for Mistcloud and Smokestorm." His golden eyes were warm, humored, even if there were other emotions lurking in there. "I'll probably train even more warriors before StarClan calls my name. What about you?” His mew turned gentle, uncertain if it was right to ask a queen this kind of question. ”Going to raise any more litters?” What he knew of the lovely calico, she was good at her role, and she seemed to love kits as much as he loved fighting.
That comparison was almost enough to make him snort, but instead his gaze gentled, and he found himself holding his breath as he waited her answer. --- Word Count: 362 Words Tags: @zen Notes:

Oh watch me go, I'm a happy girl and I've come to know that the world won't change just 'cause I complain. Let the axis twirl, I'm a happy girl.
She took another bite of pigeon, her whiskers twitching with amusement as he suggested that some apprentices should be left for her daughters. “Oh they can have one or two, but I'll be honest, I'm hoping they'll find mates and have kits of their own soon as well,” she mewed, glancing the way Mistcloud had gone. How wonderful it would be to see them raising their own families, to be able to help care for their kits. She loved them both dearly, and knew she would love their kits just as much. She tilted her head as Eagletalon asked about her own plans for the future. She purred, “Ohhh, I hope so. I would be disappointed if I didn't have at least one more litter in my lifetime. Hopefully more, though.”
She sighed, glancing after Mistcloud again. She had hoped to have another litter moons ago, but then Silverstorm was taken from her. Their relationship had been so easy, they had been so good for each other. Her whiskers twitched with amusement as she again thought about how easy her relationship with Eagletalon was turning out to be. Her voice took on that scolding tone once more, “Though if you keep chasing away all the toms that come to see me I don't suppose I'll ever have kits again.” She paused, her eyes sparkling as she looked at him, “And then you'll be forced to take their place to make up for it.”
Just as she'd 'forced' him to spend time with her after chasing away her company. She mrrowed, giggling at the idea that she could 'force' him into mateship just as simply as sharing a meal. But then, Eagletalon had mentored SIX apprentices... if that wasn't a good sign that he would make a good father, she didn't know what was. Despite not having really known him for very long, she found that she wasn't at all opposed to the idea of having kits with him one day... after they got to know each other a little bit better.

68 Moons // Tom // Senior Warrior // StoneClan Eagletalon's heart hared forward as if he were running uphill, the blood rushing through his head and heart as he forgot, briefly, how to breath. There was no preventing a purr from thrumming out of his throat, feeling both relieved by the news and confused by it; of course, there was also her little joke that he would just have to father a few litters instead...
Heat prickled under his skin, and he was blissfully aware of the contrast between Blacksmoke's curt request and Duskflower's gentle, silly tease. "What about Silverstorm?" Eagletalon mewed, unablle to fight the curiosity. Besides, if she was so open to the discussion about kits, then he believed she wouldn't shy away or recoil at the mention of her deceased mate. "Would you take another mate? You both always seemed so happy and affectionate." Hadn't that been love? Eagletalon didn't know them very well back then, they'd just seemed... like the ideal couple; Silverstorm was a kind father, and Duskflower was an excellent mother. He remembered feeling proud that they were his Clanmates. Proud and a little envious, suspecting memories like that would never quite happen for him.
If her offer was more than just a sweetnatured joke, and the feelings he was coming to terms with more than just a fleeting crush (he strongly believed they were a little more enduring than that; he wasn't a young, reckless tom anymore, 'crushes' didn't really suit him), perhaps they could be something. Resisting every impulse he had to lean in and lick her cheek, Eagletalon waited for her reply, forcing himself to be patient. He didn't want to step on Silverstorm's toes, the tom's death had not been so long ago. --- Word Count: 288 Words Tags: @zen Notes:

Duskflower's gaze softened in remembrance as Eagletalon brought up Silverstorm, but she met his gaze evenly when she spoke, “Of course I'll take another mate. Silverstorm would want me to be happy, to be with some cat that can make me happy, now that he can't.” She thought about their easy, simple relationship, hoping she could find that again. “Our relationship wasn't exactly... what most cats saw, I think. We were friends first. We just got along so well and wanted many of the same things... it made sense to both of us, when we started wanting a family of our own, that we should be mates.”
She paused, a soft purr sounding in her throat, “Don't get me wrong. I loved him in a way, and I'm sure he loved me too... we cared about each other deeply, and we were happy. But it wasn't the sort of love most cats think about when it comes to mates.” She thought about it for a moment before continuing, “It was easy, it was simple and fun, it gave me everything I really wanted. Of course I miss Silverstorm, but I think I've mourned him long enough. I don't think he would want me to dwell on his death, and to stop living just because he has. Silverstorm was a good cat, and I believe the best way to honor his memory is to live as fully as I can in his place.”
She smiled softly, “I think you and Silverstorm would have been good friends.” Purring, she flicked him with her tail again, “He would have appreciated your... sense of adventure.” Her whiskers twitched in amusement, thinking about their eagle encounter. She giggled, “He certainly would have liked you better than Ashflame.” She glanced toward the camp entrance and sighed lightly, “I want to take another mate, Eagletalon. I just want him to be a cat Silverstorm might have asked to take care of me after he was gone. A tom that would give me a sense of him, a tom he could trust.” Her whiskers twitched uncertainly, “I suppose that might be a little much to ask for, though.”

68 Moons // Tom // Senior Warrior // StoneClan Eagletalon's tail grew still with surprise as Duskflower shed a bit of light on her relationship with Silverstorm. They DO say looks can be deceiving... There was no way to tell how deep something was until you stuck your paw in; he hadn't expected their relationship to be built upon friendship more-so than the kind of love he knew Hawkstar and Frozenrain to have.
The sandy warrior continued to listen, however, ears pricking forward as she spoke of him in such a way--as if he were a suitable replacement for Silverstorm. That wasn't what she meant, was it? She wasn't trying to pick up where Silverstorm left off with another mate... Or perhaps she was? Duskflower wanted to live life to the fullest, and have more litters, raise more beautiful kits who would become strong warriors of StoneClan. Obviously she needed a tom to help with that.
"Would you take a mate for love? I don't know if you believe in that kind of thing," his ears and throat burned, the tom uttering a sheepish laugh. "Like what Hawkstar and Frozenrain have. Is that something you could ever want?" He did. He wanted that. More specifically, he wanted that with her; he enjoyed their friendship, Eagletalon felt as certain of that as he did his own claws. "I think I'm turning sentimental in my old age."
But was there a chance this could be more? He didn't want to be a substitute for Silverstorm. Would she appreciate him for him, though? And if she never did love him back the way he hoped she would... Could he live with that? Eagletalon was once again aware of the seasons weighing on his body and his heart. He was a senior warrior now. Closer to the elder's den than the apprentices' den these days. Could he afford to keep waiting? To keep his hopes up for something more fulfilling?
A thousand questions tumbled through his mind like loose stones. --- Word Count: 335 Words Tags: @zen Notes:

She tilted her head at him and gave him a look simultaneously amused and exasperated, her tone echoing her expression, “Oh, Eagletalon, of course I would. I would love to be in love.” She giggled at the wording, but she was entirely serious in her answer, “It just didn't seem to matter so much to me with Silverstorm. We cared about each other, we wanted similar things, we had fun... that was enough for us.” She tilted her head again, “I suppose it was... a sensible kind of love.”
Giggling again as he mentioned his 'old age', she reached out to tap his nose with her paw playfully, “You're not that old, or you wouldn't be fighting eagles so readily.” Her whiskers twitched with amusement, but she soon returned to the topic of the love, getting the idea that he was a little more invested in her answers than she had originally thought. Could he really be falling for her? She supposed it wasn't so hard to believe. She found herself feeling... something for him as well.
She wasn't quite sure yet what it was. It felt similar and yet different from what she had felt for Silverstorm. Maybe it would feel slightly different with any cat, simply on the basis that they were not the same cats and it was therefore impossible to feel the exact same about them. But it was hard to tell so early on in their relationship just where her feelings were going to end up. She had never been in love like Eagletalon was describing, but that was likely due to the way she and Silverstorm had rushed into having a family together instead of attempting to find mates they felt for more deeply.
“To tell you the truth... I don't really want what Silverstorm and I had again. And I don't think I ever will. It worked well for us because we grew up together, we were friends for so long.... There's no way I'll have a friend like him ever again. This time... this time I think it has to be love,” she murmured, staring at her paws and thinking aloud. She let out a soft purr as she looked back up at him, “I don't think Silverstorm would approve of anything less.”

68 Moons // Tom // Senior Warrior // StoneClan A purr pushed its way out of Eagletalon's throat before he could stop it, so he gave up, letting the warm sound rush out like it wanted to. When Duskflower, for all her energy and warmth and silliness, looked at her paws in dismay, Eagletalon had leaned forward and gently touched his nose to her neck-fur. "I think you can have what you want, Duskflower."
Suddenly, fighting eagles had become a lot easier than discussing his feelings, but Eagletalon didn't shy away. Not when he knew there was a chance; call him reckless, call him foolhardy without a lick of sense, but maybe it would work in his favor. Just this once. "I think there's something here, Flower." That they were still in StoneClan's camp had his words being chosen carefully, but they were nevertheless true. "If you can wait a bit - not long, I promise - then I think we could be something unforgettable." Not like 'Hawkstar and Frozenrain', or 'Silverstorm and Duskflower'.
Like Duskflower and Eagletalon.
There was something he needed to speak to Dawnblossom about first. That Silverstorm would have liked him, hearing that from Duskflower had felt like high praise, but it wasn't enough to go forward on. Not for him. He would have liked to ask Silverstorm himself if it was alright to pursue her, and dive head first into what he was hoping was love, or could lead right to it, but Eagletalon did not have the privilege of sharing tongues with StarClan.
But he knew someone who did.
Would Dawnblossom do an old warrior a favor? Eagletalon glanced to the healer's den, and laid his tail along Duskflower's back, smiling in a gentler way than she was used to seeing on him. He caught a glimpse of Ashflame's eyes glaring at them from the warriors' den, and Eagletalon stiffled a laugh. Sorry, but you'll have to try for someone else.
There was a chance, and Eagletalon was holding on tight as he could. Not about to let her go for the World, let alone the bruised feelings of another warrior. --- Word Count: 355 Words Tags: @zen Notes: He's gonna get up and ask Dawnblossom if she can talk to Silverstorm for him in my next post. =) That okay?

Oh watch me go, I'm a happy girl and I've come to know that the world won't change just 'cause I complain. Let the axis twirl, I'm a happy girl.
Eagletalon's nose pressed to her neck fur drew her gaze back to him curiously. He reassured her of her ability find what she wanted. She felt warmth spread over her pelt in the heat of a blush as he called her Flower again. She wanted more of that, more of his carefree affection. He didn't even stop to think about it, he had just called her Flower out of no where and now it had stuck, it seemed. And she didn't mind at all. The rest of his words were nearly lost on her until she pulled herself together to pay attention.
They could be something. So they were both feeling it then. What a relief that was. She shifted slightly, wondering what he meant about waiting a little while. Did he just want to spend more time with her, to be sure about how he felt, before they talked more seriously about... them? She could understand that. She wasn't sure what her own feelings were currently, she just knew that she really liked Eagletalon.
She purred softly as he laid his tail along her back. She enjoyed physical contact, even just with friends. She enjoying being affectionate. It was comforting. Perhaps that was just part of being a queen... kits needed plenty of affection after all. The softer look Eagletalon gave her now made heat rise beneath her pelt again and she couldn't help but giggle softly, leaning into him slightly, “Take your time... I'm not going anywhere.”
Oh watch me go, I'm a happy girl, everybody knows that the sweetest thing you'll ever see in the whole wide world is a happy girl. Fawn
