Hawkstar
may your dreams be larger than mountains
The large sandy brown tom remained silent as a debate began amongst the selected council. He'd picked these cats for many reasons, among them the differences in personality. He trusted them to voice concerns from various viewpoints, and to not all get stuck on the same rock face, so to speak. Pale amber eyes drifted to his deputy as the gray tom spoke of rotating patrol members for an even spread. Nodding his approval, Hawkstar followed Wolfclaw's gaze to Eagletalon and Hailstrike as the two were recruited to organize and manage group training sessions. He followed the conversation, nearly objecting when Eagletalon spoke of attacking LightningClan directly at it's center. It would seem, however, he was not the only one with concerns.
Remaining silent and allowing the rest of the council to present their perceived flaws with Eagletalon's plan, Hawkstar found himself frowning slightly, the weight of this conversation heavy on his shoulders once more. As Dawnblossom's speech came to a close, Hawkstar raised his tail in an indication that he would speak now. Clearing his throat softly, he began in a level tone. "We all agree that LightningClan's actions have been less than honorable for moons, even before Firestar ascended to LightningClan's head."
He looked over each of them then, his gaze eventually settling on Eagletalon to drive home his point. "Be that as it may, LightningClan is a Clan just like us. They have apprentices and kits to feed. I will not condone an endeavor that thrusts StoneClan warriors into unknown territory to steal prey that may be the difference between life and death for young cats." There was a sternness to his voice that indicated this was non-negotiable. The stiffness is his shoulders eased slightly as he breathed out, pale amber eyes drifting closed. "But I agree with each and every one of you, something must be done."
Eagletalon's voice broke through the silence, leaving the StoneClan leader to open his eyes and watch his friend. "Something more than just taking back what is ours." The senior warrior stressed, and Hawkstar nodded knowingly. It was Hailstrike who speak next. "What... If we took something else, something that is theirs while taking back the Sun Stones?" This caught the sand-colored leader's attention, his mind churning as his body straightened. Shifting just so to subconsciously seek comfort in the brush of his mate's fur against his, he flicked an ear thoughtfully before focusing his gaze on the cats gathered before him.
"The Star Fields." He meowed decisively. "We will take back Sun Stones, but push the border far past there, and into LightnigClan's territory. I will not allow my warriors to take prey LightningClan has already caught, but I have no qualms with taking prey they have yet to claim." It didn't take long for murmurs of agreement to ripple through the gathered cats. "Wolfclaw, Hailstrike, Eagletalon... Make sure your training involves close quarter combat. Train in and around the camp entrance if you must. Every warrior must know how to deal with a battle thrust into the center of camp."
He paused, his voice taking on a grave tone, a hint of bitterness even tinting his words. "If LightningClan wishes to challenge us to take back the Star Fields, let them come to us. They will not make it through the entrance, not if we teach our warriors how to drive them back out, to hold fast to our home." A strange excitement buzzed through the den, no doubt born from each participant's desire to right the wrongs that had been dealt. It may have been a long time coming, but StoneClan's stand was on the horizon.
"If there are no further questions or concerns, you are dismissed. Thank you all for coming. Your input on StoneClan's behalf is much appreciated."
