Name: Badgerpaw (Badgerstrike)
Age: 6 moons
Gender: she-cat
Clan: Treeclan
Rank: Apprentice
Picture:
Description: A small she-cat that still looks an awful lot like a kitten despite being old enough to be an apprenticed. This could easily be attributed to her young age, however she doesn't appear to be growing a whole lot. This will likely lead to her being a relatively small cat in the future. Other notable features about this cat are her thick, fluffy, coarse, black and white fur, that looks very similar to the coat of a badger. Her dark, amber eyes are another prominent feature, as well as her long bushy tail and her four white paws, markings that seem to go a littler higher up on her back legs than they do on her front.
Description Summary: A small, black and white she-cat with dark amber eyes
Personality: Curious: Badgerpaw is naturally a curious cat, wanting to learn as much as she can about the world around her and taking joy in doing so. When she eats her prey, she's been known to try to dissect it first, getting a good look at the anatomy of the creature before she takes a bite out of it. Just as well, she may also observe a living animal, following it around for a while as she watches it's activities and takes note of things such as it's diet, notable skills it may have such as flight or swimming capabilities, and their intelligence levels. Others might find her a bit strange but she's more than happy being the way she is, even happier to be learning so much about life and it's creatures.
Egotistical: It's no surprise that an apprentice could be egotistical and Badgerpaw most certainly fits this description. One of the easiest ways to win your way to this cat's heart is through praise. She absolutely loves to hear about herself and her so called 'great accomplishments' in life, such as the mouse who's tail she cut off yesterday. She's even been known to go off on a tangent about how great she is when she's not even prompted to. This can be quite annoying to most cats, but a quick little mention about how she's talking about herself again will shut her up.
Cold: Badgerpaw has been know to be rather mean or rude to other apprentices. This is primarily because of her fear of making friendships only to be abandoned in the end. Her fear has caused her to push away almost all cats in her life instinctively by putting on a facade. She acts mean towards others so they won't get close to her, and if they don't get close to her, she can't get hurt. It makes perfect sense or at least to her it does. The exceptions to this rule are warriors and other much older cats, because she doesn't want to get punished for disrespecting them, and her family, Nightpool and Pinepaw.
Daring: In trouble and need a cat willing to jump headfirst into danger quick? This apprentice will do it and she'll do it gladly. Badgerpaw isn't afraid of most of the more dangerous things in the world, mostly because she hasn't been harmed by them yet! So she'll usually be at the ready to help out if you're in a tight jam, regardless of what your trouble is. Though whether or not this will do you more harm than good is up for debate as she's willing to go up against some enemies she clearly cannot defeat alone in order to save someone. Depend on her at your own risk.
History: History: Badgerpaw's birth had been the result of a simple crush, nothing more and nothing less. Her parents, were two strong warriors by the names of Nightpool and Russetstorm and they had been close friends since kithood. They'd spent as much time together as possible, chatting, grooming each other and when they got older, they would often go on hunts or spar with each other. So it was no surprise when only a moon after their warrior ceremony, Nightpool confessed her love for Russetstorm and they became mates. But as it turned out, that love had been nothing more than a brief crush and the duo would only discover this after the birth of their very first litter.
There were only two kittens in the litter, consisting of a small black and white she-cat, who took after her mother in appearancee, and a mewling little brown tabby tom. The parents, delighted by their little creations, named the she-cat Badgerkit and the tom Pinekit. They were happy together, for a time, and had made plans to raise their little family together with the promise that their kits would grow to be the most powerful warriors in the forest. It seemed for a while that everything was going great for the little family and the happy couple believed that nothing could tear them apart, until one particular day.
Nightpool had been waiting the entire day for her mate to come and visit her and the kits. Most cats wouldn't worry too much about their mates coming to visit them but Russetstorm made sure to come and see them once every day and it was almost dark out! Briefly, the young mother left her kits and stepped outside of the nursery to check to see where he was. She checked around the camp, finding nothing before heading into the warrior den and asking one of the warriors if they had seen her mate. Nothing. She continued her search for Russetstorm, becoming increasingly worried for the tom until she eventually heard from another warrior that they had seen the red tom headed towards the border between Treeclan and Lightningclan. Without a moment's hesitation, Nightpool thanked the warrior and started off in the direction of the Lightningclan border, eventually catching up to Russetstorm and asking him what he was doing.
The red tom sighed and turned to face her before speaking. He confessed that he simply couldn't handle living in Treeclan anymore. He said that he had been faking his love for the young she-cat all these moons to try and hide the fact that he had another love in a different clan and that he couldn't stand the idea of being apart from the cat that he truly loved any longer and was going to be with her no matter what. Nightpool, her heart crushed by the truth, allowed her mate to leave, though she remained there for some time, trying to let his words sink in before she headed back to camp.
Nightpool continued to care for her kits even after Russetstorm left, but she never spoke fondly of him to her kits, the pain of him abandoning them still weighing heavy on her heart. Instead, she tells the two about what their father did to them, abandoning them for someone else, as a warning to try to keep them from rushing into a relationship under the guise of love.
Badgerkit was most affected by her mother's teachings, coming to resent her father for leaving them and growing somewhat bitter because of it. She became terrified of the idea of getting close to someone, anyone really, and getting hurt as a result. So she became cold and aloof, trying to keep others away from her so she never manages to feel the same pain her mother felt.
Even now as an apprentice she retains this attitude, not bothering to make friends with the other apprentices and only ever focusing on her duties instead. Still, a part of her craves a bit of attention and socialization, and she somewhat wishes that someone would attempt to befriend her and show her that she's wrong and that she can have relationships without being hurt. For now however, she keeps her guard up and doesn't have any intentions of dropping it anytime soon.
