Name: Bitternkit -> Bitternpaw -> Bitternwing
Age: 15 Moons
Gender: She-Cat
Clan: RainClan
Rank: Warrior
Bitternwing's eyes are a soft yellow-green, almost too pale to be either color. Her face is distinctive, with a white jaw, throat, and a splash of 'snow' across the bridge of her nose. Her whiskers and ear-fluff are a uniform shade of white, and both features appear to be of a good length.
In terms of size, Bitternwing is more closely fitting her mother's sleeker, slenderer physique. She is not so tall as her brother, Gullswoop, and a little more delicate in her movements. She has the makings of an excellent fisher.
Description Summary: A long-furred light brown tabby and white she-cat with yellow-green eyes.
Despite Vultureback's soothing, confident words, Falconleap had passed on into StarClan, leaving two young kits behind to be cared for by the healthy remaining queens. Bitternkit was crushed, but a second devastating blow came in the form of her older brother, Crowblaze, abandoning RainClan when his grief and frustration proved too much to bear.
Falconleap had left more than kithood memories behind. With the former StoneClan deputy's death and Crowblaze's desertion, rumors seemed to flood the camp, and it was impossible for her to miss the horrible things said about her family. Confused and upset, it took until apprenticeship for her to eventually get over this. Her mother's death had made her more independent, however, and she greeted her warrior ceremony with a quiet, renewed hope.
A hope that was doomed to fall. The young she-cat was assigned a mentor who Bitternwing was quick to discover had very little concern for her or her future as a warrior. Whitewater, a jaded senior warrior with little interest in his new apprentice's progress, treated her as if she were a stranger more than a Clanmate. It became clear to Bitternpaw early on that he was expecting her to just leave RainClan like her two brothers before her. Again, the she-cat felt hurt. Each time the small wounds and lacerations began to heal, something would happen to reopen them.
She didn't grow resentful, however. Her mentor's negativity and half-assed training sessions were turned inward, and she went through a depressed period, believing she'd never earn acceptance in a Clan she cared so much for. With the chance to prove herself at the apprentices games buzzing in her head, she ended up missing her opportunity to shine a positive light on herself (assuming she'd do well in the hunting portion), after a few discouraging comments from Whitewater shattered her fragile confidence.
The Big Day came and went, and Bitternpaw cheered her brother on from the sidelines, her heart secretly aching over that lost chance.
Despite Whitewater's negligence, Bitternwing did finally make it to warriorhood. Her new name was earned under unremarkable conditions, having passed her fishing assessment and battle assessment to satisfactory standards. Now out from under her pessimistic, unsupportive mentor's wing, Bitternwing can finally spread her own, and turn over a newer, happier leaf for herself.
She'd like to never go back to that sad little kitten she was in the past. If she can help it.
Other: Adopted from the last Falconleap x Vultureback Litter.

Description
A she-cat of her coloring is not unusual for cats of RainClan. Aptly named Bitternwing for her soft light brown tabby coat, she also has a white belly, with white mittens on all of her toes are white as if she dipped her paws into paint when she was a kit. That light brown coat is a source of pride for Bitternwing, and though she is far from a she-cat overly concerned with vanity, she's always liked the soft brown and tawny shades mottling her coat, with dark tabby stripes on her front and hind legs, as well as the signature tabby 'M' on her forehead and a thick dappled tale. Fortunately, she is well equipped to handle the winter with a warm coat of medium length fur, it's naturally water repellent thanks to her father, and a little thicker than the average RainClan cat's, thanks to her mother's StoneClan heritage.Bitternwing's eyes are a soft yellow-green, almost too pale to be either color. Personality
Unlike her stoic father and her more cranky, acidic brother Crowblaze, Bitternwing manages to stay sweet and kind despite the hardships she's faced. Her personal motto is 'tomorrow will be a new day', Bitternwing choosing to face each challenge with an underdog's courage, holding on to things she knows to be certain, without shying away too much from the unpredictability of life. The unpleasant feud between Crowblaze and Hawkfall makes her heartache, but she believes they can work through this in time, not giving up hope of a united family despite Clan borders being an obstacle.
Perhaps to make up for Crowblaze & Hawkfall's disputes, Bitternwing tries to stay close with and supportive of her littermate, Gullswoop. She values her brother's opinions, and can show an unexpected protective side whenever the whispers of their parents or their brothers start to cast a negative light on him. Speaking of whispers, Bitternwing has, from a young age, been forced to adapt to life without a mother figure, something that's been both terribly sad and difficult to understand at the same time. Bitternwing understood early on the nature of mortality, and perhaps that's why it doesn't come as such a shock to her when cats of RainClan die; she's capable of great empathy, however, and still feels sadness for loss of life, no matter how old the cat.
Bitternwing is not terribly talented at sticking up for herself, but she is a master at the art of perseverance, being the leaf on the branch that stubbornly clings tight no matter how hard the wind blows. Sometimes that wind can be her own peers, who look at her differently due to her Half-Clan blood, and sometimes that wind can be her mentor, who never believed in her from the beginning. It's hurtful, these whispers and these taunted words that have followed her from the nursery to the apprentices' den and beyond, but while she looks down at her paws and lets those words run their course, she dreams of small victories.
Of surprising her Clanmates. Not in a big, dramatic fashion. But in a small way that many wouldn't notice at first, but some day they would, and they wouldn't look at her with distrust and disgust, but acceptance, and the trust Bitternwing wants more than anything.
Someday they'll look at her and say "she's not so bad." or "She's loyal after all."
Because she is. She is steadfastly loyal to her Clan and to her family, something that does not yet seem to be on opposing sides. Bitternwing is too young to understand how difficult it may be to hold tight to her family bonds when Clans begin to battle one another in what promises to be a bloody newleaf.
With all of the negativity RainClan seems to permeate, Bitternwing is very appreciative of genuine kindness. Especially if it is directed towards herself; though she isn't greedy for these moments, Bitternwing absolutely notices them, and it lifts her spirits each time. She always remembers a kind, friendly face. True kindness is a rarity in the valley, and she'd rather remember a dozen of these little moments than even the most glorious of battles.

History
Bitternkit had been the second born of a litter of two alongside a silver tabby brother named Gullkit, the second set of offspring from Falconleap and Vultureback. Bitternkit was born into trying times for RainClan. Around her 3rd moon of life, Greencough was sweeping through the Clan like wildfire. It struck the nursery particularly hard, but it was her mother who was hit by a strong bought of the sickness. Quarantined from her mother, Bitternkit had cried often from the separation, frightened of the unimaginable, of losing the family she had loved so dearly from the beginning.Despite Vultureback's soothing, confident words, Falconleap had passed on into StarClan, leaving two young kits behind to be cared for by the healthy remaining queens.
