Leafbeare One Dusk-kit had been shooed out of the nursery by her mother because she was hindering the queen's ability to remake the nest. Dunekit had been a boring brother and decided to take a longer nap, leaving the darling she-kit without someone to play with. The trees broke up most of the chilly wind but she couldn't help but feel exposed as she walked around the camp lazily. Lionsong, her mother, had been very strict about not going anywhere near the camp entrance which was no fun. Her attention span remained short as she caught sight of a few apprentices. With her small voice she called out to them and asked to join them in a game with a moss ball, she was quickly declined because they were tired. Frustrated Dusk-kit plopped down in the middle of camp near the fresh-kill pile and stared at it. She wasn't hungry and it was pointless to ask Skykit to play with her, he hadn't been in the mood to play lately. She felt bored out of her fur. Rolling over onto her back she put her paws up in the air and batted at the few clouds she saw through the leaves. "StarClan take me now," She groaned. Islands, diamonds, trips around the world,

"StarClan take me now." Pale warm-shaded ears rotated at this statement, Appleshade possessing a sixth sense when it came to drama and social distress (or just very good hearing). With a luxurious stretch, long front limbs extending before her, the senior warrioress (she preferred the term 'experienced', senior sounded so...old) abandoned her plans to look busy and moved to greet the source of that tiny, exasperated voice. "Aren't you a little young for angst?" Appleshade uttered a high, honeyed mrrow ow ow ow of laughter, pale plume sweeping neatly around her front paws as she relaxed into a tidy sit. She's terribly cute, isn't she? Appleshade had material instincts in place of maternal (just ask her siblings), but that didn't mean she was immune to the innocent, fluffy, sweet charms of kits. Things that sparkled and glinted and glowed caught her eye (particularly the sleek pelts and bright eyes of handsome toms), but so too did expressive personalities. Memories of her own kithood wafted down to meet her like snowflakes; I must've been twice as dramatic, then. Ha! Not that she'd fully grown out of it, of course. Where's the fun in that? The rest of the Clan could keep their maturity, she'd keep her sociability and flirtatiousness, thank you very much. Now then, this was Lionsong's little daughter, wasn't it? "Dusk-kit, aren't you? What a pretty name." Dawnkit would have appealed to her, at first thought, but upon picturing the sultry saturated light of the setting sun, the name earned her approval. Peripheral awareness clued her in to the white tom's arrival at the camp, and she did her best to look responsible (but not forced) beside Dusk-kit, like any proper guardian would be—wishing to the stars and the moon above that Skyfall would simply rope someone else into a morning patrol. She just wasn't in the mood to deal with the wetness. Cold paws? Damp fur? No thank you.

Dusk-kit heard a voice from behind and above her. Rolling onto her side she looked upward to see the shape a she-cat. At first she thought she was going to be in trouble but the laughter the followed the she-cat's words melted that away. The orange she-cat remained on her side and took into consideration what the warrior said. "I just wish my brother and Skykit weren't so boring,:" She exhaled closing her eyes and pretending to be dead. I am so bored! She complained again. Despite her desire to be a good warrior Dusk-kit only wanted to play and she doubted the she-cat wanted to. Her name was said, she nodded in agreement. "My mama is Lionsong and my daddy is Sandstrike,"She spoke proudly of her parents, pushing herself upward to stand before the warrior. Her tail was upright and her soft fur remained fluffed her scent still of sweet nursery. "Do you know my mama and daddy?"She asked fishing for a story about her parents. Maybe hearing about them would make being so small less boring. Her tail flicked as she awaited an answer. tagged: Fawn words: (words) notes: (n/a)

APPLESHADE

"Mhmm, I know everyone in the Clan." And that was no lie. "You must be very proud, having such attractive, talented parents. I never knew my mother, so I would count your lucky stars, Dusk-kit." Appleshade was only too happy to converse with the she-kit, especially since her plan to stay out of Skyfall's line of sight seemed to be working. Oh if she had been younger and the weather wasn't completely abominable, Appleshade would have laughed a carefree laugh, and then whisked the little kitten away to a meadow where wildflowers grew, and she would let her smell them and pick the petals to her hearts' content. That was the kind of things she enjoyed as an innocent little kit; it wasn't until she reached apprenticeship that she began to develop a.... appraising eye for the toms of TreeClan. If presented with a feline of similar interests and the disposition of a social butterfly, Appleshade would have both squealed at having found a kindred spirit and felt a little friendly competition with such a she-cat. But alas~ Dusk-kit was far too young to be that kind of friend. A shame. "I'm impressed you aren't shivering, Dusk-kit." mewed Appleshade in her usual pleasant, inviting tone. "Camp could certainly be a lot warmer than it has been."
