Lilystream
It had taken a lot of courage to bring her here. She'd been asking herself too many questions recently and she'd at last found an answer. She couldn't go on any longer with that truth confined within the cage of her ribcage, she had to share it. The consequences could be dire, but she couldn't keep this contained any more. She had to tell him, she had to.
And so it was on the edge of camp that Lilystream stood, her pale green irises scouring the scene for a ruddy pelt that was all too familiar. And fortunately enough it didn't take her long to find him. The sight of him brought about a fluttering sensation in her chest and she drew in a sharp breath. She never once thought she would be filled with such nerves at the thought of approaching him, Russethawk had always been one of the cats she'd felt most comfortable around. Every was just easy with him. With her sister gone, he was the only cat she could truly open up to. So why was it that this felt so difficult.
It took her a moment to realise she'd been holding her breath. A juddering exhale came spilling from her jaws, her tail flicking from left to right. There was no use putting this off, it would only make it more difficult. And so the calico she-cat padded towards him, putting on a smile. But even then she knew that the ruddy-furred tom would likely pick up on her underlying nerves, he had a way of seeing right through her that she had never really understood.
"Hi," she mewed gently, easing into a halt beside the handsome tom. The familiar fluttering sensation grew wilder. But just being beside him, being in his presence, she could feel her smile becoming more and more real. Great StarClan, he hasn't even said anything, how does he do this to me?
Swallowing, she released another breath. "I was just wondering if you'd like to come for a walk with me? I… I need to talk to you about something."
Well, there's no escaping this now, this is happening.
Her eyes flickered over him, her heart in her throat. She had no idea how this was going to work out. The main question plaguing her mind was would he return her feelings? Part of her felt she already knew the answer. He probably only thought of her as a friend, nothing more. He deserved a she-cat much better than her, she was hardly particularly extraordinary. She was just… well… Lilystream. She wasn't the most popular cat in the clan, she wasn't the best fisher and she hated fighting, she was just an average cat.
He, on the other paw… She found herself giving a soft sigh. He was popular, and not just in RainClan. He was brave, smart and funny. The fact that he was good-looking was also a bonus. He was everything that she was not, she was lucky she even had his friendship. She was surprised such a cat had even taken the time of day for her.
As she contemplated this, she found her hopes sinking lower and lower. She was usually optimistic, but her prospects for this were gradually getting bleaker. Maybe she could make something up? Tell him something else? She wasn't sure if she could do this to herself.
